  1. Today I will be taking a break from writing about game development and scripting, to instead talk to you and anyone interested about the subject of Bitcoins and Crypto Currencies in general - my personal favorite being Dogecoin. Dogecoin is a user friendly way of getting new people into crypto currencies - and its flourishing. Now is a great time to get in.

When I first heard of bitcoin 2 years ago I wouldn't even give it the time of day. I dismissed it [ignorance, in hindsight] as a scam. I didn't bother reading into it. Beyond subscribing to the /r/bitcoin subreddit for nerd cred, I didn't bother with it for 2 years. At that time, Bitcoins were worth less than $1. As of now, they recently peaked at $1200 and are currently going for about $700. If I would have taken the 10 minutes it required of me to read the Satoshi Paper (warning: 8 page PDF) and wrapped my head around it, I would have jumped all over it. I think a big barrier to wanting to get into it is understanding what it is and how it functions.

If I had gotten into bitcoin 2 years ago, I would've been able to mine it with my setup. I'm not the best at math but my conservative calculations estimated that I would have mined around 250 BTC in a period of about 6 months. 250 BTC sold at $700 usd each = $175,000. Thats 175 thousand reasons to beat myself up right there, I tell you what!

If you have any questions about bitcoin, or crypto coins in general, I've dived into this subject in general over the past couple months and I can most likely answer any questions you might have about what it is, or how it works. I would be happy to answer to any questions or criticisms of the subject of crypto currencies in general. Feel free to ask away!

I would personally love to see people selling games for Dogecoin, or giving games away and providing a Dogecoin address for people to send them a little bit of money if they liked the game enough.

Note: This blog was originally a private message that turned into a Blog post as I felt maybe it would be helpful to the community.

blog-0331580001393696783.pngSo, I see you have managed to make your way here, of all places. A terrible blog on a small website in the top-right corner of the internet. The bottom of the internet is where you find those darknet illegal trading websites, so this doesn't deserve to go to the bottom corner, but whatever. You get the point, right? Anyways, in the interest of not killing you with boredom, I guess I should introduce myself. I'm a guy who is Will, or Sage, or whatever you want to say. Just make sure it isn't Laquish'a.

I recently got RPG Maker VX Ace in a Steam sale. I have been interested in game development for quite a while, but it's whatever. I am trying to get better at the process of designing games, but it is an uphill battle. While juggling chainsaws and riding in a motorboat up an icy river with sharks jumping over me. Luckily, I do have those chainsaws to kill said so-called "Sharknado." And you, dear audience, may just be those chainsaws.

This blog is a lot of things. It is ridiculous, it is rambling, and it isn't entirely sane. I am going to make an effort to make an entry a day, but I would be lying if I said that will happen reliably. Talking about the "games" I make is going to the foremost topic, but I am going to also talk about my life. How things are going, how things aren't going, what mountains I haven't climbed, which girls have broken up with me, s**t like that. Wait, am I allowed to swear in these things?

Anyways, you can look at my beautiful drawing to get a look at the kind of skill you will be getting by reading this thing. Get. Hype. Also, cheers. - Whoever has been talking for the last 3.2 pargraphs.

  2. Just kill me now... I have saved alot of the maps... and the actors and stuff... just..gah.... all the work I did last week...Gone... T_T Need remake the intro....which I guess is a blessing in disguise since I needed to make a better one anyways...just...GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

  4. *A month later.* Hello everyone. I'm not in the mood of writing a super-duper happy blog entry, so let's get straight to the point: in this entry, we'll take a look at a blog's settings. They can be accessed by clicking on the little arrow facing down beside your name, in "Manage Blogs".Your blog (or blogs, if you have many of them) will be listed. Click on "Options" and finally, click on "Manage Settings".

Well done, you're now able to edit your blog's settings. End of this entry, make the rest by yourself. Meh, I'm just kidding. Kind of. The settings are actually very well made. They're simple, easy to get and you have explanations that goes along with them. You can't possibly fail at setting your blog's settings.

This was probably the shortest and most useless blog entry I ever made about Blogs: Stats & Facts. However, there were maybe some people new to this site who couldn't access their blog's settings. Or maybe they've been around here for quite some time, but were never interested in changing their blog's settings, if they had any. Well, now they can. Congrats, folks.

"Stay tuned" for more blog entries about blogs. However because we covered pretty much everything about blogs in general in all of these five entries, the next entries will be very different from the other ones. Until next time, Jay.

    The post-it method failed...

  5. Progress photo of the Blackjack script I'm working on.

  6. There I was, reading blogs, jumping from one blogger to another. Who in the world came up with the word blog anywa-- kidding, I know. It seems every writer in the blog section asked the question once. Whether they don't really know or it was just the trending intro, we will never know. Unless, they-who-shall-not-be-named read this and enlightened us in the comments (Cheers to you!). Now here I am, bantering about how they start with such topic, when ironically I started with it..

I don't really have much to add, I'm just stalling on my studies. Amazing how something can repel you so much that you find even the meager things entertaining. Don't get me wrong, I just needed a break. And now that I think about it, I should have eaten a kitkat instead. Bad joke.

I hope you are as much repelled as I am to something and found this diversion amusing. If you, however, found this annoying because you basically wasted your time reading this and found no reward for your time, I must ask you, what did you expect when you clicked on a blog named General Douchebaggery by a person with a disturbing cat as a photo?

Leave a comment. Distract me from preparing for my reports.

Big Update for Graphics and Game play.

EDIT: SS has an error and uploaded a new one for GAB.

Gab and Event Window will be integrated with the new maps. This means the game will not stop each time a character decides to speak about something that interests them.

I can also use it as a means to show thoughts while someone else is speaking, or to allow the Dungeon Master to narrate introducing a whole new layer of comedic effect. Lots of potential for the future now and less dialogue windows for you.

A DM character will be made to accommodate this idea, you are free to suggest a visual appearance for sprite/portrait.

    x00B19m.jpg

Introduction is in progress. Here is a quick look at two of the slides in progress:

    IXyu72Y.jpg

Hit rating % of all characters has been raised from 95% to 100% at Dalph's request.

Auto battle was removed by CC's request.

Due to the extent of changes I may end the Demo after the Nexus battle because of the map redos. I'd rather focus on smaller areas at one time than the entirety of chapter 1.

    Emmet

Word of Law, Consecrate, and Sanctify are gone.

Righteous Might added for level 10 (Add Hp, Attack and Defense buff and +30 attack and def growth)

Lion's Pride added for Level 1 (Adds attack, defense buff and +10 atk and def growth)

Roar is now 10TP down from 20 and is learnt at level 1.

Leonic Rage is now learnt at level 1. (Still adds 10% TP gain per turn for 3 turns for all the party when used)

Smite, Obliterate, and Annihilate have all had their TP costs reduced to 5/15/30 from 15/25/50

Sprite has been reworked to fit his portrait and is now less saturated and amended to look better from the sides.

    47zFl9s.png

I will continue making a mask to edit all other sprites with his new face.

Base stats have been improved when Emmet becomes a paladin. Several people complained he was on the floor most of the time.

Talks less in the intro and opening quest to town to allow exploration and breathing room. This was hindering play.

Thoughts and reactions will be through the GAB window by Yanfly.

    Willard

Lesser Vigor, Vigor, and Greater Vigor have had their TP costs reduced.

Lessor Vigor now cures poison, Vigor cures poison and paralysis, Greater Vigor now cures poison, paralysis, and stuns.

Turn Undead is now 15 TP down from 30.

    Shade

Teleport and Warp now cost 25 mp for final build only. All test builds will have both spells for free.

Libra now grants 10 TP when used, so the turn isn't wasted and gives Shade a moderate damage increase for all offense

spells once a monster is scanned by use of a debuff.

Shade portraits are currently WIP under the spoiler

    H1SfEPQ.jpg

the play testers were pleased with how she looks,

so that made me happy after four attempts I finally got something satisfactory. I can only hope Kendra's fourth redesign will be as welcomed.

    Wolfe

TP costs for skills have been reduced. Valiant edge was 50 TP it is now 25.

    Bruin

TP costs for skills have been reduced. Pentaslam was 40 TP it is now 20.

Spear master passive adds TP regen per turn, + attack 20%

    Ursine Heritage passive +def 20 %

Enemy's have had all stats reduced by 50% across the board. Trash items have been added to increase gold income when monsters normally wouldn't posses treasure.

This will allow you to sell and get more income for equipment faster. Each boss has a unique treasure that can be sold for cash. All trash has lost the

ability to heal itself and other's directly. Rebuke undead will continue to heal a small amount of the target.

Some maps including the forest entrance, forest maze, and mage guild tent have been reduced in size and had their events compacted to allow easier game play and greater focus on

the area and elements. This will continue throughout next month.

My biggest mistake with mapping was thinking I'd just construct a large area and fill it in as I went. Now that I can section off areas and focus on specific player goals, I only need so much space per map.

    FMv9GID.png

This maps is divided into 3 areas. Pit puzzle, Trapped area, and the Fragment quest.

So even though I've condensed it down from it's original by 25 or so tiles(height), it can still be split into three smaller maps now that I see it's still too large. The more transitions per area, the larger I imagine it to be.

Size is not quality for maps, focus and content are.

Dialogue in the beginning 10 mins will be toned down significantly as the Introduction will be exposition for those that wish to see it, and the traveling to town will be more action oriented than having a character drone on.

The Seaside cave will now correctly reward you with the mermaid statue with a much higher success rate, as well as a message and chime signaling you have gained an item.

The Forest entrance has been given a reduction in size, and some positioning has changed. The tent trap now rewards you with an emerald gold ring (vendor trash) for your trouble. It was pointless to have it without incentive to the player. The ring and gold left there are from other adventurers less fortunate than you.

    Forest Tile set in progress:

    85bvKZV.png

I'm thinking about eliminating the gems altogether. I cannot force them to work with any color I've tried.

(You should have around 3000 gold in map gold, and possibly 1000 in vendor trash from monsters before the forest maze. Vendor items have been reduced in gold cost for the 1st tier of the game to allow easier upgrades.)

Lackey is significantly less powerful for his forest encounter. I will still use him as a curve for the undead nexus, but I cannot ignore what people have told me that he has slaughtered well equipped parties.

Things are on track for March, however work has been exceptionally more trouble than anticipated. We've just gone through a layoff which took away 50% of our work force making me in a bad position to event at normal hours. If I cannot release the new demo by March 15th I will let you things more to end of April after spring break.

I am highly motivated to do this project, but I am "time poor". It's like a new type of poverty.

Next Update will focus on maps and portraits.

I DO NOT claim the character as my own for it is Enterbrain's, named only Gabriel for "entertainment"

    purposes.

Hello, DracoHiryu787 here! Here's a sketch of a character from RPGMakerVXAce's cover. Gabriel, as I call him, was made with pen and paper, scanned then edited for coloring. Critiques will be appreciated completely.

:) I'm so happy I ran across a contest in one of the other RPGmaker forums, where they asked you to draw your character as they are now, and 10 years older! This is perfect for my Sci-Fi game (which I'v been mostly keeping quite and under the rug) and it also gives me a chance to talk a bit about the game no one ever hears about, and to give you a little intro to the two main characters!!! Keep in mind, ALL of the names are subject to change, as well as anything I say, since it's a work in progress ;)

They are copilots for a two man race-ship. Their skills will gain them more then fame, for the competition they're taking part in determines which planetary nation takes the head in Humanity's Grand Council. They fight, along with many other girls, for their nation, in a race which ever 5 years determines the course Humanity will take.

Circe, who in the younger version is 16 (Her age when the story begins.) who's name is up in the air

    Challenger_zpsea10432a.jpg

    And her copilot, who's name got scrapped so I can't call her anything at the moment ><;;;

    Punk_zps1a3817b6.jpg

I'm going to do all of the main leading characters in this style, because I'm a huge fan of it!

I might open up an 'in-development- thread for this game... and I'm considering recruiting some people to help with the team, however I'm a little wary of sharing my ideas ;P

  10. I hear it all of the time - 'My story won't and or doesn't focus on plot, it focuses on the characters.'

My answer, 'Really now. Doesn't sound like a very interesting story to me.'

Let me illustrate my point with examples.

First, let's take a look at a story without a plot, shall we?

It was a bright, Sunday morning in the Normal household. The birds outside were chirping, welcoming in the new day, and Father Normal was at the table, reading the paper and drinking a cup of fresh, hot, black coffee, just as he had done every morning for the last thirty years.

Mother Normal came down the stairs from the bedroom of their lavish two story house, dressed in her usual Sunday morning attire of a pink, terry cloth robe, a hair net, and fuzzy white slippers. Beneath the hairnet, Mother's long, deep brown hair was wrapped in a tight bun.

"Good morning, husband," Mother said as she crossed the breakfast nook on her way to the kitchen. She paused at the coffee maker and poured herself a cup of coffee, then added three teaspoons of sugar from a white ceramic cat that sat nearby.

"Good morning, wife," Father replied without looking up from his paper.

Mother made her way to the breakfast nook and sat down at the white painted breakfast table. She took a sip of coffee and smiled.

From upstairs came the sound of footsteps. Shortly after, Daughter Normal came down the stairs wearing a black, sleeveless dress and spiked heels, her hair dyed bright pink and tied back in a pony tail. "Good morning parents," Daughter said, "I'm going out. I'll be home late."

Father and Mother said, "That's nice Daughter."

Hmm, let's mix things up a little, shall we?

"Thank you for making coffee."

"Good morning, wife," Father replied without looking up from his paper. "It was nothing. How was work last night?"

Mother made her way to the breakfast nook and sat down at the white painted breakfast table. She took a sip of coffee and smiled. "It was work," She said lightly, "more of the grind I go though day after day."

"Wife," Father said, folding the paper and turning his full attention to Mother, "You should really find a better job. Your talents are wasted at that factory. Why, with your skills, you could be an astronaut."

Mother nodded. It was the same conversation they'd had every Sunday. The fact was, she liked her job at the factory, even though it was a daily grind which often had her working Saturdays.

Mother was about to speak those thoughts aloud when, from upstairs, there came the sound of running feet. Shortly after, Daughter Normal came down the stairs wearing a black, sleeveless dress and spiked heels, her hair dyed bright pink and tied back in a pony tail. "Good morning parents," Daughter said, "I'm going out with Tough Biker. I'll be home late."

Father slammed his coffee cup down in the table hard enough to cause the coffee inside to slosh over the rim of the cup. "I told you never to have anything to do with that Biker, didn't I?" Father said. "And what exactly do you think you're wearing, young lady. You march yourself upstairs this instant and put on some clothes."

Daughter struck a defiant pose in front of Father. "I can see whoever I want!" she proclaimed. "I'm eighteen years old, for God's sake! And what I wear is my own business!"

Mother sat at the table, a hand over her eyes to hide the tears.

Now, which story would you rather continue reading?

Ace Academy is coming along. Some know of it, some don't. For those unfamiliar this post can break it down:

    http://www.rpgmakervxace.net/topic/20388-rmvx-ace-academy-practice-through-roleplay/#entry141138

Think of it as Harry Potter meets RPG Maker Lessons. The motto is "Practice through Roleplay" and it's largely focused on teaching and building relationships in the community.

The design part of Pre-Production ended a while ago, though the design is constantly being updated and changed. It was passed on to moderators and admin for approval, and was well received by them. I'm double-checking admin approval again, and seeing what sort of assistance they can offer to make this official.

Once I get a clear, I can start a soft advertisement campaign and get a headcount. From there I'll make the necessary resources while collecting sign-ups for Teachers and Examiners.

Once I get an idea of how many Teachers and Examiners we got, I can start inducting students and letting them know what we offer.

Finally the forums will be created, an opening date will be set, and the Academy will begin.

I need help. Ever since I completed Final Fantasy V and the esteemed Final Fantasy VI, I wanted to make a game of that style. I have created a great storyline along with characters with actual personalities and character, which I felt those games were somewhat lacking. I have accommodated to modern age RPG styles as much as I thought would be appropriate. It is a fantasy game.

I have 16 "main" party characters as of now, plus 6 other playable characters and 2 bonus characters, all possibly gained by the end of the game. Is that too much?

And so far, I have estimated around 48 hours of gameplay. Is that overkill or too short for such a game?

And another huge obstacle: I do not have a title for this game. So please, if anyone has any suggestions, please share.

%&@#($? Siddown and drink yer %*@# tea!

I must've missed the whole 'blog' generation. Who even came up with the word 'blog'? And unless the answer to that is "Emperor Blog the XVII from planet Xton II", I can't forgive anyone who comes up with such an infantile--

Y'know, my first entry isn't going to be about the word 'blog'. It's going to be about new directions, dismembered body parts, blood, and shiny golden rainbows.

That is, to say, I'm working on a new game called Inwards, a puzzle/adventure game of the darkest, creepiest horror genre you can imagine. So far I've got custom drawn screens for the Title and Game Over, portraits, a lot of tileset editing and about 10 minutes of gameplay completed (realistically, about 8 hours of eventing work because I'm still learning even after all these years). The entire project's details are going to go up in the Showroom eventually, but here's the most basic, least spoilery premise I've got:

"The Daze is a surreal world made of children's nightmares, or so it is told. Liam, a teenager who has been hospitalized after a mysterious accident, finds himself awakened and trapped in the Daze with nothing but the clothes on his back. After hearing his younger brother call out to him for help, Liam delves deeper into the nightmare realm to rescue his sibling. Along the way, he meets an unlikely ally, and together they brave the bloody, potentially fatal wold using the only clue they have: Inwards is out."

    Characters:

Liam: Liam is a fifteen-year-old student who wake up in a horrific, nonsensical dream state called the Daze when he strikes out to find his missing little brother.

Vincent: Vincent is a green teddy bear who resides in the Daze. He helps Liam navigate the nightmare world, though his motives and alignment aren't clear.

Sam: Liam's 8-year-old little brother, who is somewhere lost in the Daze.

    ----------

And really, that's it. I've learned I'm a pretty good spriter, as long as it doesn't involve humanoid sprites. Monsters and animated objects? You betcha. My people sprites just look like blobs.

Which in a horror game, might actually be useful.

  11. The player escaped from the ghost and went into a room, there is a big crate that he can use to block the door.

The problem is that I don't know how to make an event with the knoking sound activate when the crate event is on a specific tile.

I know I could do set move route and "player: move up x4, move left x1" so he would be behind the crate and then somehow make him push the crate to the door, and after that event command put a switch, but I want the player to be able to control the character and be able to push the crate on his own.

P.S. I already have the crate event that's pushable in all directions.

  12. I finished a map. But just to find the perfect size for one of the bachelorettes picture! I was busy for a LONG time.

Any ways the girl in the Screenshot is Named CeeCee and the game is a new game by itself and IS somewhat like Harvest Moon

But is VERY Different I'll See if I'll get another screenshot up soon. And the design of the characters Stayed...So they will have similar

clothing just in different colors...No way to fix that unless I create outfits which I don't now how to do...blogentry-33789-0-77222700-1385953509_thumb.png

Things have changed dramatically in the past two weeks. I've removed tankentai's battle system and replaced it with Battle Engine symphony and it works perfectly...Except for when bows decide to sit at least an inch away from the enemy when they're supposed to be holding it (Go home bow, You're drunk. I've also changed sprites around so they are 8-directional and created around 100 different animations and skills. I also tried my hand at making a script for a stamina bar (because the TP bar urks me) However that ended by corrupting my game but luckily i had backed it up before hand [DO NOT LET ME SCRIPT EVER AGAIN, BAD DECISION!! x'D]

I've realised these last two weeks that:

    1) My mapping skills are Te-rri-ble (but improving with time)

    2) I'm more of a storyline developer than a scripter

    3) I cause destruction to games if I try to script

I spent around 4 days break from my rpg making because of my birthday and people coming over. So I'm a little behind in what I had originally planned.

By the end of week V, Hopefully I'll have created my next dungeon, boss, more of my main story line and figured out how to work a bow.

I'll post my progression at the end of week V!

    Until then~

I was talking with my good friend Deathspark, and told me the reason why he left the forums, the reason made me infuriated and disappointed in this "community" forum.

If anyone needs me,chat me up on skype,or RPGmakerweb.
