Hello, If your reading this then you must be interested in a contest. So this is what I am thinking.

I want to make a custom game but I do not know how to make the sprites well or the battles or anything. I love to see other peoples work though and wondering if you would like to join a contest where a game in particular is the prize. I have a few copy's i'm not using so I would like to give them away. Not for free of course. I want to see not only the sprites but the battle creatures as well. I love fantasy of all kinds so it would be related to animals of some kind. I'm thinking like 3 creatures each maybe? Like the moving sprite that I would use.

    Example

WARNING- You do not need to use template I just wanted to use it as a example.

And because this is more of a animal one you may need to make your own template for that. But if your making a human like one that's fine too. Also I would like to see emotion in the pics. You know the profile pics. I think because thats more difficult I would ask for 1 on that one. mainly because I draw too and know its difficult to do.

Example of Battler and profile pic.

Style depends on what YOU like. The whole point of this is to make something you are comfortable with and of course win a game or two. Me and a good friend of mine will be judging and we will decide on who wins on a certain date. I would be the one to update everything and I would be giving the best opinion that I can. :)

There is more is more but right now I need opinion.

    Your wait is finally over!

I decided to release a early (and probably completely bugged) version of ASOE to the public. You can check out all the details in the official topic. As well as access the download, read the documentation and follow the discussion here:

  2. UE - RPS Battle System Announcement:

    Alpha teaser demo released

    What is this

A new battle system, Rock Paper Scissor type with a Tug-Of-War HP system

    Why are you making this

This is going to be the main battle system to my WIP game Adventure!

    Where's the script

It is not up yet. Since the script is still VERY VERY early in development.

What to expect in this demo

Not much, but the main skeleton of the battle system.

It has a lot of 'buggy' areas.

    It needs to be polished.

It needs to be more balanced.

It needs to be more reliable.

It needs an option to be able to use skills and items.

Damage calculation needs to be reworked.

Healing mechanism needs to be more balanced.

    Sounds need to fit more.

    Need to add sprites/animations/aesthetics.

    A WHOLE BUNCH MORE.

    Why is it encrypted

I am watching the flow of the script very carefully
, and getting feedback from a

currently anonymous person. Since this release is in such a very very

    early stage
in development, there is no legitimate reason for me to

    currently release the script,
    hence '
    Alpha-teaser
    ' demo.
    A teaser of an

    Alpha release.

What can I do to help

Reply feedback, suggestions, bugs, balance changes, aesthetic improvements. Anything

from criticism to just throwing a bucket of attention. Any of these will help.

On a later release (probably in Beta), when the script is released,

    ACTUALLY EVEN NOW),
This script will be 'Community-based' in which,

what the community wants to appear in
the script, as long as in conforms

to the main point or main goal of the script. I shall

    do my best to comply.
SO please do post feedback here on this Blog
    .

    DEMO DOWNLOAD:

STAY TUNED FOR MORE UPDATES, THIS IS MERELY AN ANNOUNCEMENT THAT A NEW BATTLE SCRIPT IS COMING SOON.

    It's 30% done!

"Rock, Paper, Scissor, - The hardest game ever."
  3. Well the last entry was a complete mess because I revealed an unfinished and pretty flawed script (which has been changed drastically) and it had very little context, in a bid to get something out there. So I thought I'd take the time to reveal more backstory on the game, which has thus been re-named:

    "Downfall: The New World"

    Context

The lush and bountiful land of Silden has long been plagued by it's overshadowing neighbor, Westfall. The largest empire in all of Galtia. Though the details of the circumstances leading up to the ten year war are often a subject of debate and speculation, the Odrine Council made it known to it's citizens that Silden sought to shatter the supremacy of Westfall, and this act of treachery made the punishment of Silden becoming a vassal state to it's neighbor just and fair. Stripped of independent rule, and all rights to it's resources, it became a mere husk of what was once a proud and flourishing nation.

The occupation of Silden by the WMC (Westfall Military Corps) meant that all Sildenians lost their right to live for themselves. They worked, fought and died under the banner of Westfall, and yet they were treated like scum, to be worth less than the dirt they were thrown into and buried under on a daily basis.

Every stone structure they tirelessly built on their own land with foreign brick and mortar, in the name of Westfall, was another nail in the coffin for their national pride, until it was but a fleeting memory. The last structure built by the Sildenians, Fort Tristan, the largest and most fortified establishment in all of Silden, became a monument to the supremacy of Westfall and failure of all that was devoured in it's grand shadow.

    The Plot

Fifteen years after the occupation of Silden, the empire of Westfall continues to expand like a plague over Galtia. However, there are those who would seek to take back what is rightfully theirs. The Blue Rose Rebellion, a Sildenian rebel force, has been fighting the WMC across green fields of Silden, attempting to reclaim towns and villages from their control. Though they were once successful and their numbers crossed into the thousands, after numerous defeats they now only number a measly four. Baron, the strong and courageous leader of the BRR, and his loyal warriors Pan, Jascal and Yapal. They now plan their last attack against the oppression that weighs over their people, one last chance to save Silden.

Though two days later at Fort Tristan, the young and somewhat meek soldier Kale Blachard awakes to find the fort enveloped in a mysterious crimson storm, one which the likes the world has never before seen. When the storm finally subsides and the eyes are no longer clouded by the red mist, it appears as though the storm has brought something with it. Something that does not belong. Something which will test the bonds of men, regardless of the banners they stand under.

"Stryman, that single word which sits like poison at the tip of my tongue. I'll never forget that name. Not a single soul ever will."

    More to follow~

Both of these movies are why I wanted to start this blog. Therefore, this entry will be doubled up! Dare I need to say spoilers? Enjoy.

The first movie is Guardians of the Galaxy. THis one has been out for a while, but I figure I'll voice my opinion. Seriously, one of the best movies I have ever seen in theaters (other than, perhaps, Jurassic Park III and I Am Legend). The CGI and lighting were some of the best I've ever seen, ever. The story was amazing, especially for a Marvel movie (cough, Avengers, cough). The prison scene was seriously funny. "We need to get it at night so noone sees us." "I am Groot!" "Of course."

An extremely funny movie too, I never had a moment where I wasn't smiling in the movie. No wonder this movie is the movie of 2014!

The second movie of this entry is The Maze Runner. This is almost at the opposite end of the spectrum, as there wasn't any comedy in it. Althought the CGI was was breathtaking, and they also did a good shading job! This movie is similar to the Hunger Games, but the kids are all thrown in a giant maze which is an experiment. The maze has monsters that they must avoid and they have to find their way out. To be honest, I think they are still in the experiment at the end, considering the woman is still alive and she said "phase 2". I don't know that for a fact, I never read the books. I usually wait to read the books to a particular franchise for after the movies are done because the books are usually so much better, and it would ruin my experience of the movies.

That is it for this review(s). In the future, there will only be one review per post. Hope you enjoyed!

  4. I feel like this blog is just repeating itsself. I don't know, if you guys want this to keep going then go ahead and say so. But if that is the case, entries aren't going to be every few days, but maybe once a week. The same would be true of the Rock Music Blog too. The reason is that I want to focus on TopsInGaming a bit more and, beleive it or not, I do plan these blogs out ahead of time. I simply don't have that kind of time every two days for two blogs. Especially since I am still considering a Movie Review type of blog. So, let me know what you guys think. Oh, and before I make my sign off, someone asked me how Time was coming along and I think I have it down, kind of. The key changes are wierd, I guess that is something I will have to work on. But I'm getting there... slowly...

That is it for, possibly, the last post in my personal blog. My journey is not over! Check out my channel as I will be putting personal stuff on there in my Vlogs playlist a few times a week, and also it may be mildly entertaining. Until then, keep strong and listen to Pink Floyd. Peace! B)

  5. Just hold on loosley! But don't let go! If you cling to tightly, your gonna lose control...

Sorry, got carried away a bit there...

Yes, today is .38 Special! One of my favorites personally, these guys can really rock. I remember seeing them live almost exactly a year ago and they really did put on a show and made sure that people goot their moneys worth! Hold on Loosley is probably their biggest hit, but I also really like Fantasy Girl, 20th Century Fox, and What if I'd Been the One. These guys are generally placed among the southern rockers, but they really shouldn't be grouped with Lynyrd Skynyrd. They do ahave a certain 'tone' about them, but in reality they are more mainstream in their songs. I guess that's why they played with Foreigner at that concert...

To Any Who May Be Reading This...Welcome

For no other reason than a faint hope and perhaps a dose of well-denied arrogance I've decided to start this here blog to chronicle my efforts in creating with RPG Maker. If nothing else it will remind me of where I've been and catalog the mistakes I'll inevitably make so that I might learn not to make them again.

The question now is where do I begin?

The First Step is Always the Hardest

It was months ago that I purchased RPG Maker VX Ace along with a ton of resources and subsequently put to paper (or screen, rather) the beginnings of a storyboard for a simple project that, at the time, didn't even have a name. There have been many aborted projects over the years for me. Most were dropped due to lack of planning but some were left by the wayside due to crises of confidence or the realization that my creativity far overshadowed my limited skills with the program of choice (from 2000 to 2003 to XP). It was almost enough to kill the urge to create a game entirely.

I'm thankful that the spark yet lives. But back to the point.

Only a week or two ago, the storyboard for the first chapter was completed. I was determined from the first drop of ink and the first keystroke that this project would not end up abandoned, that for the sake of my creative sanity and my pride that it would be finished. As stated before, a lack of planning has hindered me in the past and I did not want that to be the case here. Of course, after finishing the storyboard I realized that I left a lot of questions and details unattended to. My method in the past involved diving right into the database and tinkering away while throwing together maps willy-nilly so that I had somewhere to test all the flash before the foundation of the project was even considered. Those unattended details I mentioned? Why, they're of the database variety.

Ever do something the wrong way for so long that when you turn around and do something right confusion latches onto you like a face-hugger? That was me. Over the last few days I've been content to make slow, steady progress. A map here, a few events there, a selection of scripts on the one side and adjusted resources opposite them. Though all these pieces remain just that (pieces), they're starting to fit together bit by bit. And there's nothing like success to embolden a person. The trick, I'm finding, is to temper one's enthusiasm with meticulous attention to detail and a healthy dose of patience.

(I did warn everyone that I was gonna ramble, right? Just checking...)

    A Simple-Yet-Ambitious Undertaking

It's far to early to go about making a formal topic on the boards, but I hope within a month to have enough material to do so. The long-unnamed project has now been tentatively titled Kyoubo: Resurrection of Kirin. I stated before that this is to be a simple project and I hold to that; compared to the projects I've seen here and elsewhere, my work is very simple. Yet it is ambitious for me given my past attempts. At best I got through to 20% on past projects before they fell apart. Anything beyond that is uncharted territory for me.

If nothing else, I have every script I need already inserted in the game and I'm slowly integrating them where necessary into the database and maps. I have all my basic resources as well in terms of graphics and music. And the story, up to the very last chapter (six in total), is jotted down and ready to be boarded and applied. Though it is a small success, it feels good and supplies the drive necessary to keep on going. There will be pitfalls along the way, no doubt, but I refuse to let discouragement be one of them. Not again. Never again.

There will always be people who are better at this than me, whose projects dwarf mine in one way or another. But that shouldn't bring me down. It should spur me toward improving...not so that I'm better than them, but so that I might become better than I was. That's the mantra I want to stick to.

    Signing off for now.

    - Drayal

  6.

What you see here is the monster starts with 1 of 6 random buffs and a weakness tied to it.

Logan and Seth can expose the weaknesses of monsters.

Once exposed, the equipped weapons of the party can be used to exploit the weakness to remove the buff and do increased damage.

Requires either base troop events from Yanfly or a bunch of copy and paste.

You set up variables to randomize which buff/weakness is set up as states on each enemy.

You set up a common event to run when you use the expose skill that allows you to use the targeted state to find which enemy the skill was just used on, then you remove the target state when you set the new state of being exposed.

If anyone wants more details, please comment below.

  7. Hey all,

Its been a while since my last blog entry. Real life keeps me busy (damn working class!) but there is progress at last. I have decided to rename this blog into a general RPG development, because my main project is currently undergoing drastic changes. What has not been changed is the core system, especially the skill system. I want to talk about that today.

    The skill system in general

    1. In the game, skills cannot be learned regularly. Instead they become available at a certain level. Then you can buy the skill at a special skill shop. Usually a new skill becomes available every 5 levels.

    2. All skills in the game come in 5 levels (I through V) of increasing power. Once you have learned a skill at a specific level you can learn the next skill level. Usually a new skill level becomes available every time your character levels up. Each new skill level replaces the previous skill level.

    3. The final game will feature about 20 skills (exlcuding levels) for each class. But you cannot take that many skills into combat, you have to "equip" skills instead. Each character can equip up to 8 skills at a time. This forces the player to make a decision.

    blogentry-44057-0-79377900-1408128015_thumb.png

A quick glance at the Combat System

    1. Combat uses a script by Mr. Trivel (Battle Rows). That allows you to place your characters in the front or back row. The row has big impact on how the character performs during the battle.

    2. Usually the front row is reserved for fighters, while mages and archers stay in the back row.

    3. The row system modifies damage dealt and damage taken as well. Missile weapons and magic spells are not affected by the row.

    Skill Specialities

    1. There are active and passive skills. Active skills must be activated during combat, while passive skills generate a effect as long as the character has equipped the skill.

    2. Some skills feature a cooldown, warmup or use limit - this is done via YANFLY's skill restriction script.

    3. In addition to the general skill limitation there are Heroic and Legendary skills. Heroic skills are limited to 2 (no matter what skill) while Legendary skills are limited to one skill. This means a character can only equip two or one of them at a time.

    4. Each class utilizes a different resource system in order to pay for skills. Some classes use MP, while others use TP or even sacrifice HP. Some classes make heavy use of skills with cooldown or warmup restrictions.

    5. Finally there are switch-skills. Usually two skills are marked as a switch and only one of them can be equipped at the same time. Most often this allows the players to choose a more offensive or defensive style of play.

    blogentry-44057-0-18471900-1408130257_thumb.png

    Example: The Knight Skills

To finish this mega blog article, I like to explain you the first bunch of skills from the knight class. One of the core classes to be found in the game. The Knight is a slow moving powerhouse with lots of HP and DEF, but is also able to dish out some serious damage. The Knight is one of the first classes available in the game and is a superb addition to any party. Able to provoke the enemy, protect his party members and soak up tons of damage - the Knight is a true Tank class.

The disadvantages of the knight are his lack of AOE skills (only one and even that is not really a area effect), his reduces ATK compared to the more offensive classes and his vulnerability to magical attacks.

The main advantage of the knight are his cooldown skills. The knight does not require any kind of resource (like MP or TP) to use its skills. Instead, each skill features a cooldown of one or more turns. This limits the skill use but allows the knight to re-use its skills after each combat. This fact makes the knight more enduring than all other classes.

    Knight Skill List

    Shield of Faith I-V

[Active Knight Skill, 2/3/3/3/4 turn cooldown, no other costs]

The knight gains 4/8/12/16/20% DEF & Guard Rate for 2/3/3/3/4 turns.

Phew - thats all for now, more to come in one of the next blog installments!

If you are still with me, thank you for reading this wall of text. Yep, this is a big project and it will keep me busy for month's if not years. But its moving forward, in the next installment I will introduce you to the next class: The priest!

    cheers

This is the start of a BIG project I am working on so here is the idea. I hope to finish Stage 1 (foundations) in two weeks time.

    WORLD:

Well the actually main world is in the real modern world but that wont be it. This "plane" is only one of many each with it's own civilizations and some civilizations control more that one "plane" while other are similar to this world in they don't think it exists. It will be running on a time system so even while your off somewhere doing something a war might be raging that you don't know about. (I have half an idea how I am going to do that).

Some myths and legends from history will play rolls in the lore and races you will encounter. This is also true with some artifacts/relics you may be able to find.

    CHARACTER:

Well first off you are the only character in your party, however you can summon things to assist (get to that later). It starts with a very short description of your past and how little you know of it but it goes into a quiz sort of thing and that will define your gender, race, skills, abilities and if your a good person or not. Your race governs some of your starting abilities and your later ones that you get much later on...and yes even being a normal human gets there advantages.

The skills you would have are for things like diplomacy, magic, researching etc

Races: (Most of them have sub-races that appear as you progress though the game and as you go further into your heritage)

    Dragon

    Elf

    Demonic

    Angelic

    Shape-shifter

    Human

    MAGIC:

Magic is an interesting one...especially in this world. You have a fair few different types of magic (Arcane, Elements, White, Black, Astral (Summoning and dealing with other planes) and Tech (Pretty much magic based technology where magic is the power source)). Your choices that you decide in the quiz gives you your base starting spells and skill in those spells. Most spells require components to use (But you cannot carry everything with you at once *inventory will be limited*) and you are unable to learn some spells if you don't have the right amount of skill in that are. The more you use spells from that area the more skill you have in that area. Cantrips (basic spells the require little or no mana and require no components have to skill requirement). When looking at the spells not all are to be used in combat some are to be used outside of combat.

A bit more on how your "alignment" will effect your summoning. For example if you were to try and summon a helper if you were an evil person a demon or another evil creature would come to your aid and the same for your good aligned creatures.

    STORY:

Well I will be honest here the story is a work in progress, the current running idea at the moment is the game is very open world where you pick your path but it will all lead to one inevitable end. As stated before it was to start with the quiz and then a small gap of a few years with you in your home town. Where you receive a letter from the person you asked you the quiz the years before asking to meet them in London. You leave your town say your goodbyes etc and when you get there you get taught the ropes and get given your starting gear and that's it for the tutorial. From there you are almost on your own, you can ask your teacher for ideas on where to go or you can look at a book in your starting gear which will give you a few places you could go to find work and explore the planes before you.

    GAMEPLAY:

Pretty much as stated before time will pass so if a war is raging some planes will change the controlling faction over time. This is same said for your character and any family you may have; you will age over time and this will be shown on your character and you will eventually die of old age (Different old age death for each race). This will happen unless you find a way to stop the aging process and this would be done by a few different ways...some will effect you more than just you no longer aging.

To get anywhere in the planes you will most likely have to earn it. You get your starting gear and that's it...no more freebies, if you want a spell or something you need to either research it (random roll based on your research skill), get taught it or you have to go out and find it.

The world will not circle around you. If you go to a plane where giant man eating monsters who can kill a man easily; are said to live...you are going to see those giant man eating monsters there. So before you want to go into the unknown try to get information beforehand. There will be an encyclopedia and bestiary you can look into and it will grow as you discover more (I need to figure out how to do that and any help would be amazing)

There will be a ton of secrets out there such as artifacts/relics, spells (That have been lost to the sands of time) and perhaps a plane for you to build on. However not all the secrets are good secrets, some things might be better not found as they might cost you your life.

    Hey there!

Today I'm not talking about world, setting or the like. I'm talking about gameplay.

Lilium Cruentus, a game based on Adamah soon after the Imperial Civil War (more on that on future posts, but if you've been following this blog you might know a bit about it already) is a pretty traditional J-RPG style game.

And I was struck by the realization that in terms of gameplay, the system is pretty flawed. The game has 8 characters, and although you usually can't assemble the party the way you want to, every character should have an area of expertise (these areas have intersections). But as it is now, there is little difference between using this or that character. The exceeding intersections on their areas of expertize paired with a customizable system have made it so that it simply doesn't matter which character you use. Of course, there is the plot, but even a good plot can get tiresome if the gameplay is boring. I don't mean boring in the sense of repetitive. Repetition is inherent to J-RPGs. I mean boring in "ah, whatever, either way is good, I don't care" systems.

That means, once again I am back to the drawing board. Sometimes it is frustrating wheen you have a whole world, a whole cast, a carefully crafted plot (I'm not saying it is a great plot, or a good plot for that matter, only that I put my effort into it) and you can't cristallyze these effeort into a game because you discover a flaw in the system and have to start over.

So.... yeah. Lilium Cruentus will start from scratch for the fifth time. Fortunately some elements from it can be used on Iter Impius, another game (a very short game) that also takes place in the universe of Adamah.

    it's finaly done

please note that they might be bugs or events that stop almost at the end of the game so PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO FIX OR CREDIT WHO IF I DIDN'T CREDIT SOMEONE

  11. I have made up a few mockups for my sim game. The first one is the HUD. I have three that I am toying with and I am not sure which is the best one to use.

    6JDLvEB.jpg

    ENt46d6.jpg

    KB3WYTS.jpg

Next up, I have the chibi maker mockup.

    8jMlVQb.jpg

You do not need to have a coat of arms if you do not want it. The red circles are things required and the white circles are optional.

Please feel free to comment on what you like, dislike, think I should change, etc. The clothes will probably be set to one whole outfit like the Sims 1 was. This is due to the fact that the chibis are small and I'm not sure how much having separate shirts, bottoms, and shoes will do. If you wish to have them separate, please let me know and I will go ahead and try to make them separate.

You can make suggestions on this journal, or you can do so at my website. ^_^ I will also be more than happy to answer any questions you have about the game as well.

    Jonnaz Schedule

Pretty much this is for those few requesters out there who are interested in what I'm up to and when your request may possibly be taking place.

The schedule will NOT be entirely accurate so things will likely change around a bit. I'm thinking, I'll be updating this everyday(ish) though, so it should be accurate enough :).

(also time zone is in the future here in New Zealand in case there's any confusion :P).

Also if anyone has seen my resource topic recently, you might have noticed there are template sprites. Why? Well to help in some way in making those kaduki sprites a little more easier for people to create and also they're for me and the future sprites I plan on creating ...ohhh I can't wait haha :D (...but I also need to get that game finished :P)

    So, yeah.

I've been away for a while, dealing with work and spending WAY too much time with FFXIV, so during Late July and well into August, I am taking a gaming vacation so I can work on two things I've procrastinated on for far too long: my book, The DragonSpark Chronicles, and my game.

I've gotten 1 drawing done for portrait purposes in my spare time for the main character, and the other mains will be colored and finished sometime soon. Everybody, meet Drahcir. :D

    10527300_752426924808652_2056235714338935093_n.jpg

I know I'm not the best artist and whatnot, but I think it turned out pretty well, considering it was originally drawn on notebook paper while I was bored at work...

Anyway, database entries are almost done, got a few other bugs I got to work out, and some other stuff to work on before I can start Storyline Mapping/Content.

    ALSO.

Here are a few things I intend to add to the game when production kicks off:

-Open World: No world map to explore, just a large land connected to each place. May include Fast Travel too...

-Quest System: Mainly will be used to acquire Equipment and Items that can't be obtained normally, like Elemental and Status gear.

-Multiple Endings: I will probably have at least 3 different endings to the game - a Bad ending, a Normal ending, and a Perfect ending. Will be decided by quest progression.

-Post-Game Play/Secret ending: Only accessible if you obtain Perfect ending. Includes more quests, some gameplay changes and more story...

    ---------------

Once I complete the 4 main character drawings, I will need someone/some people to help Spriting them based on their looks. I need sprites made for overworld and Animated Battlers. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Voice Acting auditions are still on hold for now until I can decide whether or not I want fully animated cutscenes or just use stills to tell a story. Because unless I can find someone who is willing to animate scenes that are at least 3~5 min apiece, then I may have to go with the latter, as I am not a very good artist/animator.

Any questions regarding the above can be sent to me either by PM or to my email dragonwingstudios@gmail.com.

I really want to make this game as innovative as possible, and it won't become a reality without your help :).

    Thanks,

    xDrahcir

  13. There comes a point in every game designer's life when they start to wonder, mostly just to themselves, what it would be like to date one of their characters.

Well... at least that's something that I do. That's pretty normal, right? It isn't, like, some kind of personal psychological problem that I need to evaluate? Right?!

Anyways, it's Day 3 of the development of my Test Game, and I've been layering the dating sim elements on like there's no tomorrow. Town folk are fun, but they are way more fun when there's courtable characters on just about every screen. Sounds like overkill, right? It totally is!

    blogentry-45077-0-49933700-1403947567_thumb.png

One of the key things that I've been working on for the game is that each character that can become a romantic interest can also be a lot of other things. For example, depending on how you interact with the bunny girl in the bar, your relationship with that character will be different.

Possibility #1: You can insult her, which just turns her into a generic NPC.

Possibility #2: You can court her and take her on dates.

Possibility #3: You can just be her friend, and your relationship and dialogue will reflect that you are becoming close friends as opposed to lovers.

There's a lot of ways that your choices end up branching out and changing your interactions with the bunny girl character. My goal is to have at least two NPCs in each map that are fully fleshed out and having branching storylines in this manner.

    blogentry-45077-0-24315800-1403947155_thumb.png

The bunny girl now has two dates which I've managed to program in. One of these dates takes you on a picnic outdoors, and the other leads you to a fancy dinner. The dialogue in both of these instances are completely different, and the topic of conversation is changed.

I think this helps to make things feel a little more realistic and natural. You get a sense that she opens up more during the picnic scene, because being outside is more natural to her than being in a five-star resturaunt.

    Date #1: The Picnic

    blogentry-45077-0-15238400-1403947777_thumb.png

The conversation turns to her mother on the picnic (which is nowhere NEAR being truly mapped out yet).

    Date #2: The Dinner

    blogentry-45077-0-94508800-1403947910_thumb.png

On the other hand, when you are out during dinner, she thinks of her own prospects.

Your dating options aren't going to be limited to just a 'male ideal' species either. It's kind of important to me that there be a diverse number of different characters in the date-o-sphere, so that there is a little bit of something for everyone.

    The Pirate!:

    blogentry-45077-0-13484700-1403948080_thumb.png

For every courtable female NPC in the game, there will be a male one. Keeping it balanced for all kinds of orientations isn't something you see a lot of video games, and it's something I want to keep in mind for my own designs.

The pirate is a little bit on the eccentric side, but there is going to be some real heartthrob dudes in the towns. So if a girl isn't your thing, I'm trying to cover those bases.

    blogentry-45077-0-23512700-1403948291_thumb.png

(NOTE: You wanna take it easy with The Pirate. If you're too direct with him, he freaks out and never wants to talk to you again. A bit harsh, but he also has a sword so... best to mind his wishes.)

    The Huntress!:

This one's my personal favorite. If you decide to do the girl in the item shop a favor by buying her a thousand gold dress, she will go out on a date with you.

    blogentry-45077-0-84568600-1403948478_thumb.png

The date ends up leading you into the middle of the Dunes of Destiny (cliche title is cliche), where she uses you as bait to lure a rhino into her clutches. In this particular case, pursuing any kind of romantic relationship with this woman is going to lead you into trouble.

    blogentry-45077-0-05297600-1403948650_thumb.png

But, like with the other NPCs, this isn't the only kind of relationship you can have. With the branching dialogue, you can choose to be a little more subtle with your approach, and experience entirely different sequences. In this case, maybe she'll actually respect you more if you don't demand a date out of her.

I'm promising myself that I will get back to crafting quests and main story threads... but the appeal of the dating sim elements is too great! By posting this entry, perhaps I will have purged some of my overkill NPC tendencies.

    ...But somehow, I doubt it.

blog-0110763001403512673.pngI have just now added a website into my collections..

I will be using it also as a place to post my stuff..

All are welcome to view it..

But this blog will be like my journal in gamemaking..

    Website -The Aqib Minority Games

  14. XD LOL

Two years on this forum and I'm still a newbie in title. Not that I blame anyone or anything aside from myself. I know I have to be active get a status change. I guess I just love developing games more, so I just lurk the forums looking for good scripts, and PM their creators for permission of use. I'm sure there are several developers like me.

I still gotta hand it to this site, it has been a great help for me as a new commercial game creator. As of this week I've submitted my latest game for review before going to sale. I admit, I'm a bit nervous, anything can go wrong, and the reviewers can turn down 8 months of hard work and painstaking testing and troubleshooting just by the fact that they deem something not conforming to legal standards, or that they just dislike that it uses content from our previous game.

I admit, despite re-using the previous game as a base, I did do my best to change the maps to look better, as well as really increase the number of features and newer maps. I also increased the amount of things you can do in game, so it should be far more entertaining than the last game.

But...yeah, still worried about the review process, anything can go wrong. I guess that's just the way it is. XD

I wonder if anyone can really make a real living just selling games using the RPG Maker engines? I admit, back when I was using RPG Maker XP, I had that hope. But I also realized my talents were too limited back then. I think I can probably make a decent living now...but I think I'd have to move to a part of the country that has lower cost of living to really make a good living off of it.

Though, thinking about it, the Homestarrunner series, according to their creators, really took off so they could make a decent living off of it and maintain their site, and all they do is create flash cartoons, and haven't made anything new since 2009. Granted, they eventually got employed by big names like Nickelodeon...so it's hard to say if the money from their site still brings in good income.

I admit, seems like a cop out that I'm just using the blog system as my personal journal, but it's been years since I've kept a journal of my thoughts and ideas. It's probable that no one will read this either, and that's fine. I do wish I weren't so lazy, maybe I could contribute more.

  15. As out heroes set off on the all important March Towards Completion, it occurs to The Narrator that we are 10 issues in and our heroes have yet to introduce themselves. The Narriator begins an attempt to remedy this, and This Week we introduce the youngest of our heroes,

Codenamed: SHEENA, this young lady is by no means as sweet as she appears. Having been abandoned at a young age by her evil, uncaring parents, this little girl has survived traveling from.. (Wait, where is she from again? What do you mean there's no information about that in the files?) ..The far off place she started from and has made it all the way to the Forty Second Security Checkpoint. Once behind the massive wall she managed to attach herself to a old smuggler, one who retired here sometime before the checkpoint was reactivated.

Presently, she is trying to locate where her loyal companion and dear friend Borot has gone, leaving The Narrator unable to perform a proper interview.

But don't worry folks, she surely cant get into any trouble, as Borot couldn't have gone very far...

Tune in Next Time as The March Toward Completion continues!

blog-0683113001402560550.jpg"This is my art. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My art is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My art, without me, is useless. Without my art, I am useless."

This is a modified excerpt from a great movie. I Replaced a key word with "art" but you can feel free to replace "Art" with whatever your passion is. This is kind of a motto for me, a reason to constantly strive to become a better artist. Though it's often challenging, and it feels like it would be so easy to give up on art as a whole, every fiber of my body forces me to continue. My art, without me, is useless. Without my art, I am useless.

There's so much art out there now, especially thanks to the internet and social media - A Million artists with a million fans, but most people who subscribe to our art really don't pay much attention to it. It's a challenge to stand out from the crowd. Of course, on the flip side, a million artists looking at other artists creations is a good thing, it means that you're more likely to get strongly constructive criticism, which is ultimately helpful in being a better artist/designer.

On a completely separate scattered thought note, I'm working on a large scale RPG with a long time friend of mine. Talk about testing me as an artist, trying to make really well defined pixel art has been one of the hardest challenges of my artistic life. I have a history with working in windows paint (I'm talking like windows 95, ect) but now that i'm learning the "fine points" of pixel art, I really find out how challenging it can be. (PixelJoint has been a huge inspiration to make me feel really mediocre about my own pixel art, but also to push me to get better, which is what I *think* I'm doing..)

Anyways, For those of you who took the time to read this, I promise more scattered thoughts in the future. Discussing art, music, philosophy, random ideas, game development, and who knows what else. This post is just a taste of what's to come, and if you guys enjoyed it, please comment and let me know, it will push me to post more often than not. And if you have any questions, you can post here or PM me and I will address them in my next blog post.
