Ace Academy character wip

Ace Academy~

http://www.rpgmakervxace.net/forum/113-ace-academy/ ^ Hoping to join this thing sometime~ if I can't finish my character by the 19th then I guess I'm waiting til the next semester, so I'd better hurry XD   Random commentary: * I hope I can get into Diamonds house! And I love how all the houses got a bit of backstory for their creator! * Damn it is really hard to choose only two classes! I hope we can pick more in the second semester after we finish these ones, perhaps? * Holy hell I love how fancy everything looks! Random fact: I talked with titanhex back when this idea was in progress and they were gonna bring me in as an art-based staff member and then I totally failed and let everyone down and was eternally ashamed! XD But now I'm kinda glad that I never got that job, because the art the group got instead is INFINATELY better than anything I could have done! I especially love the house logos and the fancy character registration PSD! * I had no idea that there was a free version of photoshop until I read the group info. Thanks, Ace Academy! (and thanks titanhex for pointing out that I completely missed the link the first time I read it XD Serves me right for skimming!)   Minor negative nonsense that doesn't really matter: * It confuses me that "alchemy" is like.. the art of separating things magically, breaking illusions, dispelling Nether creatures, etc etc. I assumed it'd be magical equipment crafting like it usually is in videogames, but instead that's "weaponmaking and engineering" class. * I'm kinda annoyed that Hearts house has "lol some of the members are 'traps'" in its description since I really dislike that sort of rude slang for crossdressers, transvestites and transgender people. But this site isn't exactly supposed to be social justice central so meh XD I've learned long ago to just shut up about this stuff. (And NO WAY am I ever drawing a crossdresser character on this site ever again after last time... *cringe*) *magically flies away to the land of shutting up forever* * Though I do like how one of the founder couple was a drag queen, apparantly. Like I said, I love the interesting backstory for the houses!   Character ideas: * Some sort of guardian fire spirit race, except I ran into a pitfall cos I was gonna call it "genie/djinni" but then saw that that's the name of the evil monsters in Ace Academy. Whoops! XD Probably gonna go with "domovoi" instead, even though that doesn't sound as cool. * He is a cute kid that carries around a magic cauldron which he hides inside whenever he's shy XD * Was supposed to be an alchemist (cliche videogame version) hence the cauldron. But now I'm not sure whether I should pick alchemy (ace academy version) or weaponmaking and engineering which is more of the kind of thing I wanted to do. * And obviously, fire magic XD * Idea for a unique skill = Soul Rotation: Power increases the more he's hurt. (low hp + low mp + amount of negative statuses - positive statuses) And the visualization of this would be a giant lazer beam launched from his cauldron even though that makes no sense whatsoever XD * Of course, that's if I can figure out how to program that formula, lol! If not I'll do something less ambitious XD * Name = maybe Aidan or Serafino? Would go with Ignatius but that's perhaps a bit too stereotypical XD   Pointless additional nonsense comment: * I like Mana Khemia. I like alchemy games~ I keep getting the class names mixed up because of it XD And they have really cool school uniforms in that game~!

Digimon Sprites

EDITED: Sprites should be showing now! Digimon sprites! It's Botamon and SnowBotamon and a tower of cuteness! And then Zerimon, Conomon and some recolour versions! And then a friend's character, Miimon! (belongs to B-Frost-E on deviantart) Gonna open comments on this one. Tell me what you think! They're kinda basic lol XD

SpooKing Wrapup Post

~ SpooKing ~ I've decided to make a post compiling concept art and misc ideas from my old abandoned game SpooKing! It was a fun idea that I really wanted to create, but it was a joint effort with a friend as the writer and our team broke up so I couldn't continue. Too many bad memories, it was development hell! The premise of the game is that you play the kid prince of Monster Kingdom, and the Red and Blue kings (a kitsune and basilisk) are going to war YET AGAIN over who gets to rule. You're sick of those goofy bastards so you decide to plan a coup and take the throne!! It would be a short, childish and comical visual novel/city simulator with a fun halloweeny art style~   Up at the top is your protagonist, Prince Indigo! He's a vampire, so yeah this is a sign of how bizzare and goofy all the designs would be XD I based him somewhat on the mythological Camazotz, a bat demon.   These are the development sketches of Indigo while I was fiddling with the colourscheme. You can also see how he looks under the outfit, and on the left side is his bat form. It's squishy and kewt! Indigo's personality would be a sort of pompous spoilt prince parody- really hammy and takes himself way too seriously, thinking that he's a mature adult when he's really just a pudgy lil diddums XD He'd be the sort of protagonist who snarks about everything, but also the butt of all the jokes in the plot. He's so haughty that it must be a law of the universe that whenever his head gets too swollen he has to come back down to earth with a bang! My fave part of his design is his wacky dreadlocks, and also I think the fur colour works really good. On one hand, cute pink. But it also resembles bloody flesh! Perfect for a vampire prince!   An alternate costume for Indigo- you can collect a couple of them throughout the game and dress him up! This one is "Benjy Bunny Pyjamas" and was designed to be as cute and utterly embarrassing as possible. You get it for maxing out friendship with the Blue King- he's the mushy overprotective sort of father who acts like you're five years younger than you are. Also he's an evil warlord, but whatever. Nobody's gonna argue with the king's opinion on fashion when he's holding a spear to your throat! XD I never designed any other costumes since the project got cancelled, but I had an idea for an elegant business suit sort of thing that you'd get from the Red King. He's the exact opposite, the sort of aloof manly dad who always treats you like an adult and puts loads of pressure on for you to succeed academically, etc. Ironically he's also an effeminate-looking magician XD There was gonna be a weird relationship between the three main characters where they're definately a family and love each other yet they're all rivals for the throne that love to fight at the drop of a hat. The idea is that this is just how things work in the monster world- everyone's violent and competitive but still nice and polite XD   These were some ideas for logos. They were supposed to appear on the title screen in front of an image of a cityscape showing off some monsters going about thier daily business in silly ways. I tried to make it look like glowing words on a burnt piece of parchment just cos it sounded cool in my head. Looking back on it nowadays I think these designs look terrible, but whatever.   Closer view of the royal wax seal on the parchment. I edited it from clipart to contain a personal tag for the main character, in the style of the demonic seals in ancient christian illustrations.     A test of the menu screen. This was me just learning how to edit things here so it doesn't exactly look excellent.     And a text test with the first beta character portrait. This character belongs to my former teammate Greenfrostfire, and he was gonna be in the game as a cameo NPC. Here he's laughing-with-a-laughless-face at someone else assuming that HE'S a vampire, instead of Indigo! (He's actually just a wizard who likes necromancy and mad science) This was as far as I got in actual gamemaking, this thing stopped right at the concept art stage!   *   So there we go, a little preview of a game that will never be! Hope it was at least mildly entertaining!   *     *

Game Idea: Monotone Portrait

.:: Monotone Portrait (very basic WIP idea in need of assistance!!) ::.   Summary: An RPG/puzzle monster simulator game where you play a vampire hidden amoungst humankind, in a quest to ~omnomnom~ without revealing your secret!! Play a reverse murder mystery, plotting out the perfect crime with the help of your supernatural powers! Will you only take what you need to sate your hunger, or rack up a gluttonous bodycount? Will you establish yourself in the demonic courts or seek the mystery of your human past... and maybe a cure?     * * * Accept the terms of this contract. Take me into your heart and be granted all you desire. Wealth..? Status...? Love...? No, strength... Go ahead! Claim your prize! Take revenge on those who reduced you to this. You'll never walk alone again. You'll never need anyone. Their flesh tears like paper. Their touch on your skin... as fragile as porcelain. All at once you are delicate and powerful. A goddess made of matchsticks. Burn away everything in this monotone world that displeases you, and each ember will grant you yet more might. Sign away your name... lay your hands upon eternity... Relish in the hunger, my pitiful child! But always remember, you belong to me from this day forth... * The first thing I remember are those words as I wake. A silver locket in an ivory hand. My new life begins with wildfire filling up my veins... a heady delirious passion blotting out all sense... and a taste on my lips like nothing before, which ushers in a thirst like a thousand knives... I am roused from my stupor by the pale sound of a whispering voice that somehow cuts through the distant gunfire... "Welcome, empty vessel. I am your liason to the higher powers... you can call me York..." * * *     Features: * Patented "sometimes I'm melodramatic and sometimes I'm not" storytelling style! XD * * Adventure gameplay and problem solving * * All the fun of being a serial killer with none of the mess! * * Heavy amount of choices affect how the game proceeds * * Rise to the top of the vampire hierachy * * Customise your "cave" with furniture and decorations * * Lucifer wears fashionable harajuku hats * * POSSIBLY OTHER THINGS *     .:: Characters ::. (So far I only have the main protagonists, whose gender might be selectable by the player? See "Help Needed" below) (Pictures coming soon)     Amelia "Ami" Roquefort (renameable) Your protagonist, a fairly new vampire only a few centuries old. A bit of a loopy trickster idiot hero who seemingly takes nothing seriously and only cares about having fun. She's... SORTA.. a girly girl. She likes gothic fashion, sweet things and cuddly toys but also... er she doesn't live up to the standards of an ideal woman. Not merely because she's a vicious man-eating monster! Her pet peeve is people saying she's not girly just because her apartment resembles the cave of some mutant sasquatch who farts out chocolate wrappers. (She will probably be arguing her ~ethereal vampire beauty~ while wearing five-day-old undies and drinking sour milk out the carton. *belch* ~How bohemian~) She has no memory of her past before making "the contract" so her morality, much of the rest of her personality, and how the story ends all depend on you~!   York Your assistant and demonic liason to the legions of hell~ Her job is apparantly to keep an eye on Ami 24/7 and rate her performance as a vampire- dishing out missions, announcing breaking news in the underworld, delivering the latest magical item catalogues... pretty much an all purpose secretary and walking interface option XD She can be a great ally if you're towing to the laws of the undead, and an engine of punishment to dish out the vampire king's vengeance when you're disobedient... But mostly she's just an uptight posh businesswoman who's comically out of touch with "kids nowadays" and seems allergic to fun. The straight man of the comedy duo! The obligatory snarky sidekick! Despite everything she seems to find Ami's weirdness oddly endearing and sees her as a partner instead of just another client. (Er... not that she's gonna be any less strict when it's time to fill out all those tax forms~) Kinda the "tomboy"? She's always dressed in formal suits and masculine clothes, but her personality is honestly more demure, calm and caring compared to Ami's brash funloving hedonism. She's also actually got a sense of hygeine and the state of the Ami Cave makes her skin crawl XD York can only manifest in the human world as a small pet imp sidekick, but can show her real self in mirrors/tv screens/etc and speak telepathically.     *** Help Needed: It'd be of great assistance to this project to get some feedback on these topics...   * Would you be fine with playing a female duo, or should gender be selectable to open it to a wider audience? * * Would you be comfortable/uncomfortable with the existance of gay romance options? Relatedly: would you even enjoy having a romance option? Is it "necessary" to a vampire game? *   * Would you prefer a traditional bog standard victorian era vampire story or something more original in the modern day? *   * Any comments and crits are greatly welcomed! This is very very beta and subject to grand changes before I actually start work on the project! *   *

Hello y'all!
