Some Features I'm working on.

Blue Mage Su

Hello! This is my first blog entry about the project I'm currently working on. I already have quite a bit done with the project, though a lot more needs to be done. I've made a few features that I think are pretty cool. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Day/night Cycle:

Day:

Night:

sWuucYM.png

The two images are of a town in the day and night cycle. You can see that the lights in the town turn on during night and villagers appear and disappear during day and night.

Enemy Encounter System:

Day:

Night:

Enemy encounters occur like in FFXIII where mobs just wander until you approach them and then attack when you're too close. Also mobs will change depending whether you are in the night or day cycle.

That's all I have right now, I'll get more posted as I work more on my project.

Nice Day and Night, you got the lighting totally nailed.

I recognize a similar mobs system from Ixias, which I played recently. It's a really good one. One that I might have to steal one day... muha- uhh- cool that the mobs change depending on time of day.

That looks so pretty! The glowing lamps are super cute. My only criticism is that the main grass tile is a little too "busy" and distracting. It's fine for the tall grass tile to show individual blades, but when all of the grass is like that, it becomes harder to distinguish between the player/enemies and the ground, especially at night. You may want to make the tile a little subtler.

I look forward to seeing more progress shots from you! Good luck on your project.

Thank you for the criticism, I do agree that the normal grass tiles are a bit "busy" and they are the default for the tileset pack I'm using, so I'll see what I can do. Anyways thanks again!

It looks very nice. I love day/night systems that do more than just tint the screen. Having the NPCs actually go inside, and different monsters out makes the world feel a little ore real, a little more alive.
