Sigh... *rubs temples* Not that it isn't pretty and all, but am I really the only one who finds fake loading screens to be really really obnoxious? I have not seen one example, not one, of a loading screen script that actually, you know, loaded anything (have no idea if MV plugins can do it). Which is kinda the whole point of a loading screen? Games don't just use them to arbitrarily waste a few seconds of your time after every fade out. But it seems like people here just want a loading screen for the sake of having a pretty graphic more then anything else. And for some reason people here don't seem to understand that wasting time showing a super long loading animation during every transition isn't very endearing.

@KilloZapit Sorry to hear that. Well, if no one wants it, I'm totally cool with that. Everyone's got their own taste and opinions.

I have zero aptitude in coding so this is what I do. I can't possibly hate it. After all, I'm sorta like it's parent.

Personally, I wouldn't use a load screen that didn't actually load things, but they seem to be fairly popular. There's nothing wrong with tossing in some eye candy. especially if you have different loading screens. Either they come up randomly or based on whatever region or city you're entering. My personal favorites are where they have an image of wherever our going. If I didn't suck at artwork, I might just put in loading screens to show off some pretty land and cityscapes.

I think I was too mean there. I was a bit grumpy when I wrote that. Sorry! I mean, it's pretty neat looking and there might be some way to use it effectively that I don't know about (or in a different engine), so I am not really saying it's a bad contribution! I just have seen (what I feel are) some bad practices here in the past on the subject of loading.

 

I mean, I mostly work with RPG Maker VX Ace and in that engine it's basically impossible to load anything or play any movies without pausing the engine (not to mention that the cache system isn't really designed with loading screens in mind). But I have seen so many scripts that falsely claim to add a loading screen either out of a misunderstanding of how loading screens work or a simple lack of caring. Though, if some DLL magic can allow playing a movie in the background while the game does other things (since movies are I think played independently of the game engine) it may make for an effective loading screen (If the movie I/O doesn't block the games or something).

 

I have no idea how this would work with MV.

Oh, I get what you guys mean. But I really intend to use this only when something like a new chapter starts. Something fancy like what they did with Breath of Fire IV (That green particle fountain). The image's title/tags may have mislead it's purpose but I'm not really sure what to call it. "New-chapter-loading-screen------thingy?" errr.... "Sup-bruh-I'm-just-a-fancy-transition-between-chapters-in-your-miserable-adventure?"

I would make a fancy chapter title rather then a loading screen instead myself. I have no problem with interesting transitions and chapter titles, I am just not a fan of misleading or wasting the time of developers or players by saying something is loading when it is not.
