Giant Rock Description: Oh my god a Giant Rock! You find it in the first dungeon and it can only be used by one class: The Master. Basically you throw it and it instantly kills any enemy but it can only be used once. Once you use it you lose it. The Mythril Pebble of Pig Smiting Description: A Pebble forged in the pit of hell by the devil himself, used to slay pigs from hell.

Yup, I actually just bested that boss last night. Dark Souls and it's big brothers Demon's Souls and King's Field have heavily influenced how I see games and game design these days. I mimic the lore they do in my project with my own ideas as well. The Main focus in my story is The Void and The Rift. Because of that I can hide little Easter eggs and hidden lore in my item descriptions. It's hard but man is it fun.

Theomachy: Fallen Providence of the Undivine Perdition. I enjoy the concept of your game.

It really depends on the game as to which battle system I prefer. When playing Final Fantasy I prefer ATB, but ATB wouldn't work in a game like Dark Souls which is action/stamina/free-roam/pokemon (Dark Souls 1 and 2 with Magic, Pyromancy, Miracles and Hexes) I personally am using ATB for the main battle system, however I am also using a fusion of most other RPG styles. Some skills can only be used a certain number of times in battle, other skills cost resources, while other skills will require the character to have max Threshold to use. Sadly though when the game starts up the battles can't help but be slow and a bit boring but as the player gets more skills unlocked and levels up the battles get much faster.

You could also do the lore like in Dark Souls, having item deceptions tell a part of a lager story. As an example let's say you find a broken sword that you can use later in the game to make a legendary sword have it's deception say something along these lines: This once powerful sword was used by an ancient king to conquer a great land, however due to the bloody battles he fought this great sword was reduced to the sorry state it is in today. Maybe one day it's blade will be restored to it's former glory. And with that right there you set up a bit of a backstory about a king, will this long forgotten king be a boss or will this weapon ever be used for anything in the long run? Both questions can be brought up and expended upon by the player. Maybe even some item deceptions could lead to the discovery of a well hidden quest or area that the player can pick up on.

I've had some major issues with mine, it was going fine but then Life hit so it had to be put on the back burner for a while. My major problems however are I lack the proper skills to make the Music I want for it. I also lack the time to really get work done on it as my time is taken up between work, sleep, Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Supernatural, Time with Boyfriend, and gaming (Mainly Salt & Sanctuary/The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD) On top of that Next Month on the 12th Dark Souls 3 is gonna drop and then in May Doom 4. I'm lucky if I get an hour or two just to work. Isn't life great? Just wait till I try raising a family lol

Opening Scenes and Consequences
Aria1573 replied to Purple Phantom's topic in Theory and Development
I like it, maybe make it to wear the female player could cry to maybe get people to feel sorry for her, or make it to wear male characters can intimidate people into backing down from fights. Also you could reverse it and make it an option to have male characters cry and people feel sorry for them but some will pick on them or have the female character intimidate people but not everyone will be intimidated because she is female. Sounds interesting. -
How do you come up with stories and characters?
Aria1573 replied to Purple Phantom's topic in Theory and Development
Story: Heavily influenced by Within Temptation and Nightwish songs (Mainly Within Temptation's Album The Unforgiving and Nightwish's Album Once) Setting: Zelda, Final Fantasy, Demon's/Dark Souls Skills: Final Fantasy, Demon's/Dark Souls, Dragonball, Pokemon Weapons/Armor: Zelda, Final Fantasy, Elder Scrolls, Demon's/Dark Souls Characters: Main character is based on myself, everyone else is based on the people in my life. -
I have a few name ideas. Human-kind. Cyborg Chronicle. Humanity's Fate. Soul of Steel. Chronicle: What does it mean to be Human? Your project sounds interesting.

What do you look for in a game? What's your favorite genre of video games?
Aria1573 replied to naturalthief's topic in Theory and Development
Design a game you want to play before anything else, along with a story you want to tell. Will everyone like it? No. Will some people hate it? Yes. This is my philosophy in game design. -
As a female I just say write the character as you want her to be, overall the gender of the character doesn't matter if the character is written well. Male and female personalities are basically the same at the end of the day. My question is what type of female lead are you trying to write?

How do you determine your bosses stats?
Aria1573 replied to Black0Seraph's topic in Theory and Development
I test play the battle around what level the party should be and then I retest and retest until I think the boss is balanced for the party levels at the time. However you shouldn't make every boss just a hard enemy, as an example I'll use two of my bosses you face only roughly an hour apart. I'll also provide what the party SHOULD be about the time they face these two bosses. Boss 1: Avrae - Lord of the Skies HP: 12,000 MP: 3,000 ATK: 150 DEF: 50 MAT: 150 MDF: 50 AGI: 300 LUK: 40 Party should be around Level 30 with there base stats being 1,000-1,500 HP, 120-150 MP, 80-100 across all stats. Boss 2: Exodus - Fallen Sinner HP: 8,000 MP: 200 ATK: 100 DEF: 190 MAT: 400 MDF: 20 AGI: 120 LUK: 60 Party should only have increased in level by 1 with there base stats only increased by 10-15 Both bosses are relativity easy or hard depending on how the party is handled one is designed to be a physical and magicka hard hitter that is also really quick compared to the party but isn't about to put up a defense and uses it's speed and power to tear apart your team. The other boss however is designed to be able to wipe the team out quickly with one or two attacks with it's overwhelming magicka, however it will be slow enough to where the party can kill it with magicka. But the best choice is just to play and test and see what works. Hope this helps -
Yup that worked thank you very much Shiggy Topic closed
