Actually Scene_Map clears the scene stack when it starts so it's fine to goto right to it. Probably mostly because items that run common events need to goto the map scene before they will work.

Well you know each time the scene changes it creates a new instance of that scene right? It doesn't remember any data about a scene that isn't active. I mean you can for sure call a method on an object from another object. That much is trivial. All you have to do is keep a reference to that object around somewhere. An instance of Game_Variables is always kept around in the global variable $game_variables so you always have a handy reference to it. SceneManager.scene gives you a reference to the current scene. Also you can actually use class_variable_get and instance_variable_get if you want a sneaky peak at class and instance variables if you want.

Right, a new instance creates a new object and has it's own set of variables. But I am sort of confused, because when you say you want to call a method from another class, what object/instance do you want to run the method? I mean technically I think it may be possible to do some deep magic trickery to make one object run a method of another class as if it was it's own (therefore having it's own variables be effected), but it's something best avoided.

I am kind of not sure what you want You can always call a method in the current scene instance by using SceneManager.scene.method_name But it sound like you want to create a whatchumacallit ('static method' works but I think it's called something different in ruby) in Scene_Map for some reason? like: class A_Class def self.method_name puts "blah" end end Remember though that methods like that are for the class object it's self not it's instances so... class A_Class def self.a_static_method puts "blah" end def a_instance_method puts "blah" end end A_Class.a_static_method # blah A_Class.a_instance_method # no method found instance = A_Class.new instance.a_static_method # no method found instance.a_instance_method # blah Likewise: class A_Class def self.a_static_method a_instance_method # no method found end def a_instance_method a_static_method # no method found end end

I worked on my game today! Yay! I overhauled my boss battle and fixed a freezing softlock bug. Not sure anyone cares about my game, but I did update it!

Delete save file from in game

No, you will have to set up a loop for that like this: if DataManager.save_file_exists? (0..15).each do |i| DataManager.delete_save_file(i) end end (also 0..15 is a Range not an Array, but close enough) -
Well, I managed to do this in VX Ace at least! I did it by calling a custom script as part of the trap event's move route that would check to see if an event stepped on the trap event and if so start the trap event. There were all sorts of fiddly details, but that's basically how I did it. I it could be done the same way in MZ, assuming MZ still allows for calling custom move route commands. Still requires scripting/plugins though.

Wouldn't that have caused all other menus to be blank too? I would have also thought that would cause an error when drawing to the contents bitmap. Strange... -

You know some scripts use =begin and =end for actual comments so that might not work like you want it to. I like to select the whole script and right click and use the 'comment out' menu option myself. Just select all and use the same menu option to reverse it. Handy! Sometimes you need to be careful about it though. -

Yay, it's Samhain tonight! And Halloween too! It's a time where the barrier between worlds is thin, so you never know what you might run into. Maybe that fairy or goblin or witch is just a human in a consume, but maybe they are something else! So be nice!

Interestingly enough, Samhain is supposed to be a somber holiday of reflection, not a cheerful celebration with candy. The barrier between life and death were considered thin because this was the time when people decided which of their flock would be slaughtered for food over the winter and which would be kept for breeding in the spring. A wrong choice could mean ruin for the family, which only made the decision that much more serious! With all that death (from the slaughtering), the barrier was considered super thin, so people were warned that various types of spirits might visit, so be polite!

It's not only just because of death though! It's also often explained as the start of the dark half of the year where days are shorter and colder. There is another day where the barrier between worlds is thin too, and that's Beltane or May Day which is the opposite day to Samhain!

The way VX Ace loads things makes a proper loading bar is pretty much impossible. There are scripts that try and fake it, but it's just an animation and does nothing but waste time. If all you want is a animation of a bar filling up you could try this script, but like I said: it's just an animation and does nothing but waste time.

Do you remember that music video I showed you once about the little guy riding on the dragon to the center of the planet to turn on a switch that turned it into a disco ball that lit up another planet that caused ruins to rise out of the ground turning into a dance floor? I can't remember what that was called and now I donno how to find it!

They said style, and you have to admit Undertale is stylistically similar to the Earthbound/Mother games. Kinda sorta. I mean really there are lots of differences sure but they are all so quirky! Quirkiness overload!

Isn't that script for battles? It sounds like it. It isn't really that hard to do for the menu, though one big menu can be harder to search through! I personally use an "All" category and keep the others for quickly finding stuff in my game. If you can't use the item command script maybe I can help you out!

If you worry about order of operations, remember to Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally! But yeah ( a.agi *3 ) / 2 + a.atk * 2 - b.def * 2 should work, along with a.agi * 1.5 + a.atk * 2 - b.def * 2 if you want top go with that. Also: 1. Use v[n] where n is the variable number for that. 2. As complex as you want. Technically formulas are scripting. As long as it's valid ruby code, it will work. This is why you can sometimes see random scripting stuff shoved into the formula box.
