I got Dark Souls for my switch because I never got around to playing it before.
Honestly it's kind of silly how unforgiving it can be. I mean, I get you wanna be hard game, but do you really have to let me dive right off into a pit if I am slightly at the wrong angle?
You know in so called 'real life' people usually instinctively stop themselves from walking over edges. Just walking over one without thinking is something that mostly only happens in video games.
I saw gameplay of this game on stream once; GuitarHeroPhenom played it a lot back then, that and games like SOMA (which I finally have via GoG). Anyway, yeah...from what I could see, it looks like a game where the slightest misstep would launch a murderous domino effect...
Yeah, that's realistic... e.e
One thing that is sort of making it difficult for me is that in lotsa games when an enemy starts to telegraph their attack they usually don't turn till the attack hits, so as soon as I see an enemy start attacking muscle memory kicks in and I try to dodge. In Dark Souls though doing that will get you killed because enemies quickly turn at the last moment after winding up an attack and hit you. I have been having a hell of a time trying to adapt to that.
Still trying to beat Taurus Demon.
Dark Souls is so difficult that it became a meme & the standard comparison for difficult games, which is ironic considering its certainly not the 1st game to be unforgivably difficult. Games like I Wanna Be The Guy & the Ninja Gaiden reboot series are also ridiculously hard enough to be used as an example. Then there's the NES era, which defined the term 'NES Hard'. With those games, it was a wonder to beat some of them without cheating, either by using cheat codes (Konami Code) or the Game Genie.
In fact, of all the NES games that are considered the hardest games ever made, Battletoads is #2, second only to Silver Surfer, a game so hard because of how badly programmed it is, that only a small few has ever beaten it without cheating!
