Why doesn't anyone want to make a Random Dungeon Generator?

Well... it's not that big of a loss. It's hard to make procedural generation to feel meaningful. Nobody plays Skyrim for the radiant quests, nobody praises the Binding of Isaac for its level design.

@Tarq: As a tool (Plugin). The main dungeon I was working on in Ace was a randomly generated 200 floor dungeon. When I switched to MV, I was hoping to work on it in MV.

@Chaosian: Actually, I do praise The Binding of Isaac for having randomly generated dungeons. That's what gives it so much replay value. Every run is totally different from a previous run, so it keeps you on your toes every time.

At first I thought it had something to do with the enemy Guarding & having Counter, but after I removed the Counter ability, it still happens. Apparently it triggers when I hit him while he's Guarding. Maybe it has something to do with his Guard Rate. Because I had his Guard Rate set to 500% to see if that reduces damage even further, although I've removed the Guard Rate change before & it still occurred. I'm guessing there's a bug when enemies get hit when guarding. I'll test it some more over the weekend.

Are the performance issues happening because you're using to many events on 1 map? Because if that's the case then you might want to just tone down the number of events or even the map sizes in general (especially for MV). The work around has a catch-22 though, random enemy encounters. Usually, you won't know where to set up random enemy encounters with region IDs until you actually build the map first, so you have an idea of where they should be. But if you build the map first after setting the expanded size, then you can't edit the map's properties to add the enemy troops with getting the map size nerfed again & losing all those areas outside the 256 boundary. That mans you would have to set up all the enemy troops to region IDs before making the map. That'll prove to be a pain in the ass, unless you plan ahead. You could build the map in VX Ace, use that as a reference to know where you'd want the random enemy troops to appear at, then set the MV map's troops data first, then make the map size to whatever you want, then build it with its new size. Anyway, good luck with your project.

I found a solution to the max map size problem on the main site. Although I don't know if this would be enough to convince you to stay with MV, since MV does have some other limitations, including a lot of Ace scripts that haven't been ported over to MV yet. I agree with ditching that god awful Effectus script (along with any other commercial/paid resource material) since it forces you to encrypt your project against your personal beliefs. The Max HP would go back to normal (the change or condition to Max HP would be temporary) -
If necroposting is such a problem, then they should set topics to auto-lock or lock the topic after a certain amount of time of no activity. If they don't lock it, then they have no right to complain if some goes on to post something.

This is needed for Dragon Quest games for when your party gets wiped out, your main character is revived at partial HP at the last place you saved & half of your gold is gone. Thanks for this!

Need character set for the 4 God Beasts from Sci-Fi pack

I need character set sprites to go with the 4 God Beasts from the Sci-Fi resource pack. Prefer to have each of them with their individual sprite sheet (with the $ at the start of the filename), with them facing the 4 directions, set to be the same size as the $BigMonster2 character sprites (each one was 120x120 on a 3x4 sprite sheet). If making them face all 4 directions is asking too much, then I can settle for all 4 of them on a single sprite sheet facing downward just like the $BigMonster2 sprite sheet. I'll include a pic of them with their battler sprites for reference below. <Removed DLC resources>- 10 replies

I got them when I downloaded the trial version, but I have the full version now. Saying they're not allowed because they are only part of the full version instead of the trial version is like saying I can't post those resized RM2k3 monster battlers because my copy of RM2k3 was the old pirated version. **Btw, I've also posted edited Sci-Fi resources in the resources section & I haven't had a single complaint yet** In fact, it's because of this kind of non-sense is why I don't condone or respect paid resources. Because you can't post or download them & you're forced to encrypt your game just for including them (GethN7's Dragon Quest 1 remake for VX Ace for example). It's this kind of BS that we have to crawl through all this Red Tape just because people want to charge for them when they should be free in the first place!!!- 10 replies
