Umm okay I deleted my earlier updates but I don't know if that removes them from the feed? Sorry again for the trouble!

No worries, it's fine. I'm just saying that, because you could get into a trouble if you'd be still 'spamming'. ( ͡ᵔ ͜ʖ ͡°)
And yes, it's all connected, so it was deleted from here as well.

Idea: Encounter Escalation System (from conversation to fisticuffs to lethal attacks)
Bunni89 replied to Kayzee's topic in Theory and Development
I had a similar idea to this once, where it would use Galv's Battle Favour script. http://www.rpgmakervxace.net/topic/8338-battle-favour/ Except I gave up because I couldn't think of how to make it work the way I wanted XD Basically the idea would be that the Favour (renamed Conflict) bar becomes an alternate win condition. Something like if you max it out, then the battle ends. So you can either kill all the enemies, or you can "negate the conflict" and end it peacefully. Because bar-boosting skills would be stuff like "talk", "bribe", "hug", "dance" and whatever. It would lower the enemy party's hostility if you use the right skill on a monster that likes it. So you either win by destroying enemies or just making them leave. (And you'd get the same amount of EXP either way, but different morality points and different item drops. Like.. gifts versus stuff you swipe off the creature's body.) And similarly doing scary/dangerous/angry things to foes would boost the other side of the conflict bar, and if it maxes out then it stays there, freezes the bar and it's now impossible to reason with these guys. -
Does anyone else remember Fighting Fantasy gamebooks? (and similar stuff lol, like the Goosebumps knockoff)
-
I'm aware of Fighting Fantasy, but I've never actually seen or played any of the books. I tried to play the two books/apps/whatever that were released on the PSP, but I couldn't get into them. I had an unhealthy obsession with the Lone Wolf books when I was a kid, though. Those were awesome.
-
ahh yea! I loved those books, I got a few, i was fully going to make an rpg game about one xD

zombie I can see clearly now my brain has gone...
Bunni89 replied to Jonath4nC's topic in Theory and Development
Awesome idea! I haven't been this excited for a project in ages! I'm always a sucker for puzzle games, and the fun zombie twist is amazing~ Nice to have some mindless entertainment for once (haha!) Not that I don't like epic RPGs, of course XD We just need more funny games on this site too! Do you still need name ideas for the zombie types? I have a few ideas! Bulky guy = lol why not just keep him as Bulk? It sounds unique enough! XD Or maybe something like "Slab" or "Beef", or the comically-inappropriate "Hunk"? Hell, you could have a running joke of giving them all ridiculous macho names like Biff McMuscles or Sergeant Hetero. It'll be fun to see a female version, lol! (Maybe instead they're called "Babes" and have frilly pretty names but they're still giant bulky piles of muscle XD) Crazy guy = Ripper? Flash? Hyper? I dunno, something about the powers it has, rather than just "crazy"? "Crazy/Mad [insert monster here]" is a bit overused lol. Unless you nab a thesaurus and look for obscure words. "Barmy Zombie"? Smart guy = Nerd zombie? "Brain Surgeon"? XD Gasser = ...Gasser? XD Rank? Putrid? Extra rotten? "Big Cheese"? Super infected explosion dude = Time Bomb? Party Person? Overload? -
I dunno how to reduce the amount of stats shown in status menus.. like, only HP, attack, defense and luck..
-
I wish there was a videogame version of those old Fighting Fantasy gamebooks

A million game ideas and I have still never finished a single one... the eternal curse of a short attention span...

Is this okay or...? [Character Design] (UPDATED)
Bunni89 replied to Riazey's topic in Artwork Gallery
I adore these! I think a unique art style is the easiest way to hook me into a game, lol XD Call me superficial, but I don't go around playing every game that exists in order to get a balanced view and stuff. Whatever's in the first post of the game thread is what helps me decide whether I should try it or not, and while default RTP stuff kinda looks nice, it also sucks at giving a representation of the game through a single screenshot. Whereas a piece of custom artwork instantly helps differenciate you from the crowd. And it also helps say something about the game- y'know, as long as the art style suits it. This style screams "you're in for a cute, funny fantasy adventure"! While you can totally have a cute, funny fantasy adventure without your own art style, it won't look this iconic. Its always good when you can post a screenshot and everyone will instantly know what game it comes from! -
Just wondering... what is a "panoplie"? I'm a little confused about what it's supposed to do. My own english isn't exactly perfect, I've never heard that word before.

Serafino the baby domovoi (domestic fire spirit). He's magically bound to a cauldron and hides inside it when he's scared. Not sure which colourscheme is better? I may also give him glasses? Made using Chibi Maker but also edited a bit http://gen8.deviantart.com/art/Chibi-Maker-1-1-346025144

Ace Academy character wip
Bunni89 commented on Bunni89's blog entry in Infernal Cauldron of Miscellany
Well the fire part of him isn't supposed to be the primary visual trait and he doesn't have a typical "fire personality" or anything. Its more like how humans are 90% water but we're not blue and not all of us can swim XD I figured red skin would look too much like a cliche demon, and generally I dislike character designs which are "you can see on his face what his archetype is, because he looks like everybody else". The wise old man is a beady gandalf wannabe, the hero is a young male with a sword and spiky hair, you fight swathes of colour-coded red/blue/green/yellow monsters, etc. It's common in RPGs but I don't have to like it. So the cooking pot is a sillier way to say "this is a fire monster" XD Though I get what you mean- because coloured skin is usually an elemental thing it looks like he's meant to be a different element. ("Ether" or "psychic", as purple usually is. Or maybe a weird "water"??) So I agree that the human skin version looks more neutral. Also yes he totally just pokes his head out cutely like.. all the time. He's a very shy guy XD Probably will do that for his map sprite. Bouncing along as a head poking out of a cauldron! -
Ah, I didn't know that FFXII-2 uses it too! Its such a rare status effect, there's only a handful of games that've ever used it >_< I think either FF8 or FF9 had something similar too but the visualization was different, it was like a poison status that kept ticking down and then your HP would immediately be locked, over and over and over every few seconds. Called "venom" status if I recall correctly? It was immensely cruel and un-fun, so I'm glad you didn't do that version XD

Bunni89 commented on Bunni89's blog entry in Infernal Cauldron of Miscellany
Thanks for the comment! I'm worried about that too.. I mean, you're allowed to make humanoid fantasy races and he's indeed humanoid but I don't think the group ever specified HOW humanoid a character has to be.. *shrug* I don't really like humans so I couldn't stand making a completely ordinary one. Stripy eared fellows in cauldrons FTW! XD -
http://www.rpgmakervxace.net/forum/113-ace-academy/ ^ Hoping to join this thing sometime~ if I can't finish my character by the 19th then I guess I'm waiting til the next semester, so I'd better hurry XD Random commentary: * I hope I can get into Diamonds house! And I love how all the houses got a bit of backstory for their creator! * Damn it is really hard to choose only two classes! I hope we can pick more in the second semester after we finish these ones, perhaps? * Holy hell I love how fancy everything looks! Random fact: I talked with titanhex back when this idea was in progress and they were gonna bring me in as an art-based staff member and then I totally failed and let everyone down and was eternally ashamed! XD But now I'm kinda glad that I never got that job, because the art the group got instead is INFINATELY better than anything I could have done! I especially love the house logos and the fancy character registration PSD! * I had no idea that there was a free version of photoshop until I read the group info. Thanks, Ace Academy! (and thanks titanhex for pointing out that I completely missed the link the first time I read it XD Serves me right for skimming!) Minor negative nonsense that doesn't really matter: * It confuses me that "alchemy" is like.. the art of separating things magically, breaking illusions, dispelling Nether creatures, etc etc. I assumed it'd be magical equipment crafting like it usually is in videogames, but instead that's "weaponmaking and engineering" class. * I'm kinda annoyed that Hearts house has "lol some of the members are 'traps'" in its description since I really dislike that sort of rude slang for crossdressers, transvestites and transgender people. But this site isn't exactly supposed to be social justice central so meh XD I've learned long ago to just shut up about this stuff. (And NO WAY am I ever drawing a crossdresser character on this site ever again after last time... *cringe*) *magically flies away to the land of shutting up forever* * Though I do like how one of the founder couple was a drag queen, apparantly. Like I said, I love the interesting backstory for the houses! Character ideas: * Some sort of guardian fire spirit race, except I ran into a pitfall cos I was gonna call it "genie/djinni" but then saw that that's the name of the evil monsters in Ace Academy. Whoops! XD Probably gonna go with "domovoi" instead, even though that doesn't sound as cool. * He is a cute kid that carries around a magic cauldron which he hides inside whenever he's shy XD * Was supposed to be an alchemist (cliche videogame version) hence the cauldron. But now I'm not sure whether I should pick alchemy (ace academy version) or weaponmaking and engineering which is more of the kind of thing I wanted to do. * And obviously, fire magic XD * Idea for a unique skill = Soul Rotation: Power increases the more he's hurt. (low hp + low mp + amount of negative statuses - positive statuses) And the visualization of this would be a giant lazer beam launched from his cauldron even though that makes no sense whatsoever XD * Of course, that's if I can figure out how to program that formula, lol! If not I'll do something less ambitious XD * Name = maybe Aidan or Serafino? Would go with Ignatius but that's perhaps a bit too stereotypical XD Pointless additional nonsense comment: * I like Mana Khemia. I like alchemy games~ I keep getting the class names mixed up because of it XD And they have really cool school uniforms in that game~!

Yes but does Brock have a mecha sword that can turn into a giant drill? XD http://rpgsquare.de/images/sections/177/content/screenshots/4.jpg Its funny cos actually the lil pink alien is the closest the game has to a brock character XD You can actually get a gag ending where he marries the main character o.O
-
YESSS! I've always wanted to see something like this appear in more games. It seems like it was totally wasted in Mabinogi since it could be so cool in a turn-based battle too. Can't wait to try this out~!
-
That's weird because I talked to titanhex and he said 19th this month... maybe he was mistaken or I misunderstood? Oh well, gives me more time to prepare!

Princess Maker + Digimon crossover screenshot edit, just for fun XD
-
Haha lol yes XD The greatest option of all! The answer to all questions! XD
-
The monster's a character from digimon, I just designed a random cute costume for it XD And the game concept (and visual style) is based on an old DOS visual novel called Princess Maker, which I'd reccommend checking out if you like this kind of stuff I'd like to make similar games someday, but they probably wouldn't look this visually interesting, lol! I'm decent at artwork but I have no idea how to actually program this type of interface.

I would love to play this! I've always been terrible at learning new languages unless there's visual-based cues or some sort of memory game, and this is both all wrapped up with a dash of my favourite genre! It could be great! However, if every battle is just "answer what this kanji means" then it'd get repetitive and honestly it's just the same as picking answers from a choice window. (Which would be an easier way to manage the problem, since there's no limit on how many of those you can make. But it wouldn't be very fun.) So.. maybe things change as the game goes along and you get stuff like a question written in japanese and you have to answer it by selecting the right skill, etc? or maybe a sentence with a gap in it and you need to choose what fills the gap? Or perhaps there's a "Dragon of Ka" and you have to slowly whittle down his HP bar by throwing words that begin with Ka at him. Similarly, there could be an "Ogre of Days" and you have to pick which words from a list are the names of days. If you hit him with all seven days then he dies, but you lose a fraction of HP every time you select a word that isn't a day. (Lets say you have 7 chances to fail before you die.) Loads of potential with those ideas, you could do all the vowels, all the countries, all the numbers, animals, types of clothing, types of food, so on and so forth... Or maybe show a kanji with multiple pronounciations and the player has to defeat the foe using various skills that're the different pronounciations, while avoiding ones which aren't right? Like.. each turn the foe uses a skill named for a pronounciation, and you have to decide whether to reflect or take the hit. (Reflecting the correct ones damages the boss, while if they hit you then they hurt you. Reflecting the wrong one heals the boss, while if it hits you you get healed.) That would be a good minigame for long battles! Or maybe you have to make sentences by selecting several skills in the right order? And there's multiple possibilities for correct combinations? Like.. if it was an english teaching game it might give you "man" "walk" and "dog". You could select "the [man] [walk]s the [dog]", but not "the [dog] [walk]s the [man]", but another way of succeeding would be "the [man] and [dog] go for a [walk]". (It'd be like a "which sentence order is grammatically correct" game.) Or there could be something about how stressing different syllables changes the meaning of a sentence. "You walked the dog?" = a neutral question. + "YOU walked the dog?" = why did you do it when Sarah was meant to do it? + "You walked THE dog?" = why did you walk that dog, not this dog? + "You WALKED the dog?" = why did you walk the dog when you were meant to feed it? + "You walked the DOG?" = why didn't you walk the cat? XD You could do that by having an enemy named for each word in the sentence and you have to attack the right one to put stress on that word. Many many possibilities!

Oh, so you can display two HUDs at once? That's a lot easier, lol! XD Man, I'm such a silly person... That script looks amazing, but I'm a little confused because I don't speak whatever language that page is in. Do you know how you change the position of the HUD on the screen? I wanted to have it in the top right corner, not the bottom left. And could it be possible to add a variable onto it? I wanted to display the character's age because it's important to my game idea. (Character age would be 6 + however many years have passed ingame so far. You play as the same person through different periods of their life from childhood to adulthood.)

Thank you! I'm fiddling around with it to see how much I can do myself, and I'm actually quite surprised how easy it is to edit some of this stuff even though I've literally never touched a piece of RGSS in my life. Feels kinda good to pull off little ridiculously minor things without having to ask for help and look like a noob XD Managed to add extra lines to the clock display, add years and add day endings. (Y'know, 12 Jan -> 12th Jan, and etc.) Still working on figuring out how to customise what it actually looks like, like changing font and font size, centering/right aligning the text and displaying an image behind it. Also, displaying images/icons instead of text strings. Wanna add a display for weather and phases of the moon but use icons to save space and look cooler... Might try and see if I can expand this and attempt to create a charactername+HP+MP+status effects display on the other side of the screen.... Busy busy busy! Practise practise practise! XD So yeah, thank you very much for the help and I may not take you up on the offer for coding help right now but would you mind if I contacted you if I have any problems later? I sent a friend request

Amazing, thank you! It does indeed sound a little confusing, but it should be fun learning how to make this script do what I want. Definately way more practical than pure eventing. (Especially the bit about trying to show the date through a bunch of pictures!) And the lighting and weather options are AWESOME! Thanks so much for the help!
