      Personally I don't really trust 'the cloud'. I use an external harddrive for backups. Maybe I should get a USB thumb drive as well, maybe even a few of them...

      I need an external HDD. Among other things.

      I have backups, of course.

      I don't mind the cloud, it's the backup to your backup, if you use externals as well lol. 

      With so many free cloud backups like Drive, oneDrive, Dropbox, etc, it makes sense to use the cloud to back things up. But I do always recommend also a physical, non-connected medium like a thumb drive or external HDD not continuously connected and used as part of your computer's normal storage.

       

      Do both, take the time once a month to get them all up to date. May as well use all of the safe sources you have easily available
