Also even if you don't have layers, download Gimp, and it'll work just fine.

If you go for something like the Wacom Bamboo Tablet (even the older one) it comes with some software that means you can draw with it. I have one myself and it came with Art Rage (I think that's what it's called).

Tbh I don't think anyone would make a new website for MV, one of the main reasons why this site was made, was originally because rpgmakervx.net (RIP) was being controlled by iEntry and basically people like Touchfuzzy (Nick Palmer) Celianna, and etc had had enough. So they made this site, then Nick got a job with Degica, and then got the ability to create an official forum, hence when others came in to help, such as Amerk to start off with, then me and Kaz joined over from RRR (*cry* RIP)...

The thing with LMMS, is the it often works with the EDM (electronic music) scene. What I'm guessing you're trying to recreate is something similar to what most other musicians on this forum create, which is either Chiptune or Orchestral. Both of which can be difficult to get right. LMMS can be used for these tools, although the samples may not be able to be used. I'm sorry to say if you're looking to create something to the same standard as other musicians on this forum, you...

I know of a fellow musician that I know that would argue that case. Ms Littlefish of RMW uses LMMS alongside a Score Editing software. I've not personally used LMMS yet, but I know that it can be used to great effect. What makes you think that it doesn't work for composing video game music?

You don't need to pay money for making instrumental music. You can easily use free software and instruments such as: https://lmms.io/ that one can do an awful lot of work in and of itself! It all depends on what you are making I suppose, but there are always options for you to compose and write your own music without spending a penny (and still have relatively decent quality).

Don't ever judge it by it's cover, I have been playing FF14 for a while now, and still haven't got bored of it, there's also a new expansion coming next month, so you'd be able to buy both together if you wanted too (however, you'll need to complete the full storyline of 1-50 before accessing Heavensward...
