Advice! Activated. Okay. First advice: Final Fantasy-esque games have a bed rep. It stems from a lot of people half-heartedly making them without truly trying to learn the system, and also because it's so overdone. Plus, people are kind of tired of hearing Final Fantasy music/sound effects in games utterly unrelated.
It's okay to do it, of course, but if you put 'Final Fantasy' in the title, it will be like dish soap to pepper. A title is something you have to come up with yourself; think about the overall story, what the common theme is, or some important event/item in the game. Name it after that. Otherwise just go go the 'Tales of' route, and make a name that has no applicable meaning to the game at all. Some words to avoid: "Dragon", "Final", "Tale", "Story", "Legend". There are others, but those are some of the most overused.
I get the sense this is either your first game, or close to it. Unless you think you can dedicate 1000+ hours of hard, focused work, you're likely not going to even reach a 14-15 hour RPG in length. Most commercial RPGs made by studios are in the 40+ hour length, but that's because they have teams and team leaders, dozens of people working on the same game doing different things. If you're doing everything solo, a 48 hour long game will probably take you 4-5 years to complete. if you find a serious team here on the site, it might take less time, but you'd have to find people truly in it for the long haul. That is realistically not so common.
A wide cast is great, of course, but you'll need to learn how to implement peoples' scripts into your game for that. Like a character selector/replacer script. With 16 characters to choose from, trust me. I'd personally recommend trying to narrow it down to the average 6-8 main characters. Many stories suffer from being too crowded, not giving the audience enough time to bond with the main cast, because there's just too much going on. If you truly want a story driven by character's personalities, you want to go for quality, not quantity.
