    FF4 Menu System

Awesome, thanks! I didn't know about the R/L thing, so that's an awesome find for me! I was just worried because they weren't showing up like you have them displayed, but I'm glad it's going as it should!

Thanks for the new edits ZombieBear! Of course though, as I seem to always, I had some issues with this. http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u658/ngcarr92/RMVX%20Ace/IssueswithElements_zpsfb68640d.jpg The State Inflict does not appear at all in my Equipment, and Element appears as in the image above. I'm using Yanfly's Elem Absorb script. I did change my resolution to 680x480, so I know that's no longer an issue. Sidenote: I've done everything to get your shop menu and Yanfly's to work except "commenting out" certain lines from Yanfly's shop script--what do you mean by this and how do I do it? P.S. Your cursor is rad! I'd love to use it if you could send me the source with credit!

    Issues with Screen Resolution

It is namely this one, thanks for the tip! I'll go in and edit that. @Galv: Thank you also for pointing me towards this! P.S. Just fixed it and everything is magic. Thank you!

Oooo...that actually sounds really cool actually If you decide to keep it, I think I could actually come around to using it. I still need to go through my skills again anyhow. Right now all I have in my tutorial is a character that asks about the difference, and the tutorial giving character simply says that the game designer was too lazy to learn how to script and take it out, so it's just there ^^ I figured that was something I could get out of it :-P

Thanks a ton ZombieBear! Regarding Spirit and Intelligence, I think it's a super cool idea to have the two seperate ones, though I haven't taken the time to figure out how to actually implement it. Though because it runs through the same stat, and we don't have stuff that increases Spirit or Intelligence by themselves, I'd think listing a base Magic and then a Magic Attack makes more sense. And congrats! That's awesome news! I hope you get an answer for that soon. My best guess is as long as Yanfly is credited in some way, everything ought to be fine. Fingers crossed ^^

Well, I guess this means it's officially time for me to learn some scripting :-P @William C, I assume this would be in the cursor script? If so, that would be great to save ZombieBear some extra work I keep putting them through :-/ On a sidenote though, this is the second time someone's mentioned something about the resolution, but I've never actually changed how the resolution pops up--it just does this automatically. I've looked around the program's windows but can't find anything. My best guess is that my computer's screen size is 1366x768, so maybe it adjusts to my funky screen size?

    FF4 Menu System

Hi ZombieBear, I recently added Yanfly's Menu Cursor script, http://rpgmaker.net/scripts/164/ and it seems to conflict a little with the FF4 Menu. Though I don't think this should be a priority, this might be something worth playing with at some point, though it only achieves an aesthetic affect and doesn't affect gameplay. As you can see, the menu cursor pops up in the upper and lowest boxes, and just stays there. For some reason this doesn't appear in the Equip section, so that's nice.It doesn't move at all, it's just there. I did notice though, that in the status menu there is no Magic Attack stat listed, and I wasn't sure if it was because you divided Intelligence and Spirit so they're independent. I understand that Strength and Stamina are the base values for ATK and DEF, which with the bonuses from equipment, appear as Attack and Defense. Intelligence and Spirit's listed value both change as MATK is altered by equipment, but there is no base value listed in contrast to equipment value. If this were to be listed, maybe for space's sake a totalled Magic Attack could be placed under Spirit? Or maybe Accuracy is moved under Spirit and Magic Attack is listed under Evasion? It's up to you :-) Hope you're having a great weekend!

that's the one. Pretty handy script. Oh, we might have been on different pages about Yanfly scripts :-/ I was talking about this one for shops: http://rpgmaker.net/scripts/146/ However, I've also realized that would be putting two shop options over each other, which is stupid. Here's my sign. Overall though ZombieBear, this is really coming together! I did run into another problem though is that when I actually equip a weapon or piece of armor, it doesn't display the change equipping the piece of equipment would show. The number itself doesn't change when a weapon is unequipped until you leave and return to the menu. I also noticed that MATK is absent from this window, so that might be something good to add. Seriously though, all the work you're putting into this is really great. Here's your gold star

Turns out the problem was Yanfly's Battleback Stretch script. Took it out and the menu is beautiful :3 I did encounter a problem with the shop though, and that was that it looks like this... Looks like the bottom two windows just need to get moved down a bit. I also took out Yanfly's shop code, so I'm wondering if that's the problem, as you might have set it to work alongside that? -shrugs- I did see though that you added MATK! Thanks a ton

    FF4 Menu System

Great suggestion with Photobucket...shoulda thought of that earlier... Anyway, here's what the FF4 menu looks like, both with and without the Yanfly extended menu (plus a little sneak peek at my own project-ho-ho!). Tried again with Yanfly menu still in (though I realize after the fact that two menu systems should of course clash--FF4 seems to override Yanfly's). I also tried to go into the shop again using Yanfly's Ace Shop Options code and this, and it didn't work this time. But like I've said before, I really love this menu. If it could be compatible with Yanfly's shop code, unless this was some weird fluke on my part (thought it worked the first time around) then I'd be awesome. One thing I was thinking too was that, under the Status window, if a third column for element rates could be added, that might be cool. If not, I'm certain there are some scripting tutorials here to teach me to mod it.
  11. This might be a day late, but HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    FF4 Menu System

I'm used Yanfly's Extended Menu and Shop options, and while they still function with the FF4 Menu, there were mainly aesthetic problems. If I knew how to screen-cap, I would include images, but I'm oddly very un-techy in that way. Regardless, with the shops, the lower character menu appeared in the item description for the Yanfly shop. No problems otherwise. As for the menu, the issues I had were that while all the cool FF4 style equip menus were there, the men commands appeared in a menu behind my character menu. This also happened without the Yanfly script, so I think if that got fixed then the two are ultimately compatible. To go off of estriole's comment about shortening Defense and Magic Defense to DEF and MDEF, I think that'd be great. I have a 4 person party and the long names looked fine there, but shorter wouldn't hurt. I think it'd also be a good idea to include ATK and MATK for weapons. Overall though, I really like how the script looks and if some of those changes can get fixed, I will definitely use it. Great work! Once I figure out screen-caps, I will gladly post images of the problems I encountered (I realize it's probably simple and involves pressing a certain button, I can just never remember which one -_-')

Music Loops & BGM Collection - Free Commercial Use

Just like everyone else, I was completely blown away by your music and am hoping to use some of it, if not all of it, in my project. Massive kudos! If I could give you a gold star, I would. I'll just follow your tumblr--I hope that makes a difference ;-) Keep up the great work!

    Greetings!

Welcome to the community! As others have mentioned, kudos to the very clever introduction. The community here is really great and supportive. If you have any questions, there's always a trail of people with answers and resources to help you. Quick warning though, while everyone is still pretty nice about it, most people get slightly irritated by "dumb questions", that is, questions that have already been asked. A good rule of thumb is to look through the forums and tutorials to see if anyone has asked your question before, because if it has, someone will probably end up referring you to there. And like EraYachi says, bibliography it up. Everyone here is really wonderful and talented, and as long as it's been posted here, you're welcome to use it, just give credit where it's due! Best of luck with your RPG Making!
  15. Happy New Year's everyone! Hope everyone had a good and safe night! It's also been a little over two weeks since my last update, but now my exams are done so I'm going to spend a good amount of my vacation working on The World After. YUS. Anyone, I've actually done quite a bit. I ended up scrapping my whole world map and am making it bit by bit as I need it. I'm also in progress designing all the armor for the game, and I designed all the expendable items (so far). I'm also still working on designing all the abilities, when character's learn them, etc. I also discovered Yanfly's website and scripts, so I ended up putting some more in that have made some nice aesthetic changes. I wanted to be done with the entire storyline by now, but alas, I didn't finish. One thing I did notice know was that there was a lot of empty space between some of the big landmark points (aka the big boss battles and times when stuff goes down). I do think I have a solution for filling in some of that empty space, though unfortunately the books I want to refer to are back in the U.S. I did order a copy of the play from which I based my main character off of, so that will help me construct her personality a little, because I think she seems a little bland in contrast to everyone else. I also saw that some beautiful title images were recently put on the site, so I ended up grabbing one that I think is really great. I do plan on making my own before "The World After" is finally released, but for now it is a very nice-looking place holder. My goal for the month is to finish designing weapons, armor, items, and skills, and if I can, do a couple of maps so I at least have the game's introduction made (ie. tutorial, introduction to plot and characters, etc, before actually going to the first dungeon). Cheers to the New Year!
