    The Sketchy stuff

Thanks man, I'm glad you like them. I thought about the 5th one, making his body scaled and carapaced-like. Tho I am thinking of leaving some human form and flesh on chest and shoulders. The arms and belly part could be covered in black scaled carapace.

    The Sketchy stuff

Here are some of my unfinished ideas. Tell me what you think, and ofcourse any of your ideas for improvement of the characters/sketches. This one was ment to have 3 characters standing together. One is "complete", the 2nd chick is not. But for the 3rd one I simply had one idea. 2nd For this one I simply had no idea how to make armor further. Any suggestions? 3rd Protagonist or Antagonist? 4th Could this form belong to a god, or it's more fitting for some lesser creature? 5th Any ideas on how should I change his body to be more fitting to his head? Or should I even change the body? 6th Lastly this guy was in the umm gallery folder of this forum, untill they closed the gallery (A shame really) I gave him completly to ppl of this forum to use him and modify him as they see fit. And now I am doing so again, if you need this image for a game, feel free to do so.

Poses are well done indeed. You would be of great help to someone who needed some full body character pictures/drawings.

    Akarom: The World of Iniquitous

Well I cannot give an advice, tho I can give a suggestion. Make minor or normal dungeons and locations which are irrelevant to the story. Let them be some small zones for player to explore, if he/she feels like it. Or if you are feeling creative, also add some minor quests in those zones. Now to comment on the current map, to me looks good enough. Tho you could add some islands on the south-west part of the map, in the shallows.

Player can side with the "Bad Guys"

Nahh it's not about series of pictures. When you mention that you sound as if I am a hardcore dating sim player haha. I like gameplay, and trust me I like games. I have a huge library of games here at home dating from 90's and PS1 era. And even SEGA, tho sadly the console is no more alive. That's why I said that my answear will not be completly clear, because I covered only the story aspect which draws me the most. Ofcourse I would fry my brain if I only looked at pictures and read. I tried playing some of the text based games, and dating sims. Couldn't take it. Here I will let a game give you my complete answear, for I just cannot put it all in a single thought. Have you ever heard of a game called Planescape Torment? That is my ideal story driven game. There are no pictures, well....not too many anyway. There is enough action and items, and marvelous characters to meet through the game. Also your choices do matter. And there is enough mystery about Protagonist to make you attached to him. I could go on about a game, but I am certain you know what I am talking about. And also if you haven't played Planescape Torment I would recommend you to do so.

I feel that this time my answear will be long, and not so clear. You see that is simply how I play games. I do NOT want to be the MAIN thing in the game. For me the main characters or protagonists are like interesting creatures, I am always interested to see where their fate will lead them. I am like an invisible traveller, or an unknown force helping them, and perhaps leading them. When they are sad, I am sad. When they love, I love. When they bleed in combat from an enemy, I am always in with a comment "Come on bud we can take him.". I do not want to be in control, let the wheel turn on it's own. For me it is always a matter and a question "Will I grow fond of Protagonist?". Because for me Protagonists were always a gateway to those fantasy worlds. A gateway and a starting point of coming to love and know that world and it's beings. For through his eyes I see all, I am him but he is not me. And then after that comes the story, which has almost same importance for me as the main character. Story for me is like a river, for we learn to flow and swim through and with it. With our choices in a game. Even if sometimes those choices do not have an ultimate strenght to alter the course of the river, but have just enough meaning for us to change the flow. To you that would seem like watching a movie. To me, that is simply how I enjoy gaming. And this is not a ultimate answear for an perfect RPG, this is just my answear how I like to play RPGs. Cute picture you have by the way. xD

I really have to ask, are you sure you want a game and not a book/TV show/movie? Because there is nothing about a linear story in a game that is inherently better then any other story, or even no story at all. I would make the argument, and have several times, that in fact linear stories are worse for games. I don't mean to keep harping on this point (okay maybe I do), but I am tired of people's blatant disrespect of games which choose not to try and sit you down and tell you a fun bedtime story while reducing a player's input to the occasional childish comment or outburst which the reader with briefly acknowledge. And, okay, that is being more then a little disingenuous. Most games with linear stories don't really end up at quite that extreme, but it still feels like gameplay often gets regulated to pointless filler between story bits. Personally? I kind of think even a non-linear branching story is too passive. In an ideal game for me, each NPC and character would have their own internal AI that dictates every decision they make and be programed with their own wants and goals and then just... let loose. Everything else is told through gameplay. No set pieces, no one big decision that sets you on an inevitable story path, only NPCs reacting naturally and understandably to actions the player chooses to do. Maybe the player can find a way to game the system and make everyone happy with clever calculation? Maybe they will cause every NPC to hate each other and plunge the world into chaos? Maybe they will choose one faction and lead it to victory over another? Maybe they will just goof off and entertain themselves? Who knows? But that's a game. A set of rules that you can manipulate. You can set the rules and starting conditions so as to make artistic and interesting points and spread ideas, but a great game is something the player uses to tell their own story not be told one. But that's not really practical to go all out on complex AI and stuff is it? And I don't expect everyone to play games for the same reasons I do. Simpler and more abstract games are also meaningful, and yes story can be used to fill in the gaps and make the over all art more thematically clear. Branching storylines are fine, so are linear ones. I love a lot of game stories, I really do. Some of my favorite stories are told though a game. But to me they aren't the point, aren't the reason I play games. I guess everyone have their taste in games. For me personaly I play a game because of the story. Beat Legend of Dragoon twice cuz of the story, and 2nd time was because some parts I have not fully understood. FF7 and FF8 both have great story with also minimal player input. Breath of Fire 3 and 4 both have good stories too, all games which I mentioned have linear stories. If it's linear it doesnt mean it will be bad. The true question lies in what does the player want. As I said before, I want for an RPG to have a good strong story. You on the other hand love to have freedom, and influence on the game world. But as a developer, I doubt that one can make another Elder Scrolls game. And don;t get me wrong, it is nice when you see that your choices have an effect on the world in the game. And a sense of great freedom. Or as you said that everyone have their own AI, but that for me sounds like some sort of "Super Game" from the future. It is really hard to pull off such a feat, to have both a good gripping story and player freedom in it. And as always this subject is ripe for a huge debates and conversations, I think both of us could go on about this for ages. xD

"My suggestion is to just focus on creating a really good game. Sometimes that means having a linear story." I agree with HumanNinja.
  11. Alright, I've finished it. Now I am a bad critic, but I shall say what caught my attention the most. I have no complaints about battle system. Tho I think the story started bit too fast, or maybe it's just me. We have too little time to get used to the main character, and immediately we have a full party. I liked how in beginning you can scour the house for items immediately. Also the spell animations are nice. But as for the story, that's the only thing I have to say. It starts too fast. How about letting us play through some adventures with the main char while he is still in academy. Doing some stuff for the people of the academy. That could be some minor questline, it would be just enough to come to know or get used to the main character. And also, that would be a fine and slow starting point of getting to know the world we are playing in aswell. EDIT1: Oh and I forgot to mention the OST of your game. I like it. Keep it calm and simple on overworld map and when player roams the dungeon. And fierce and fiery in battles. EDIT2: "Story is like a song. The rythm must be sustained, and order maintained."

    4 Full Body Pictures please?

Thats pretty good name. I can guess that it's going to be a [retty dark questline for him. One question before I download the prologue. Do I need an RPG maker MV, or is it a standalone installer? By the way, if you need monsters/enemys for your game. Just tell me. And I'll see what I can do.

    4 Full Body Pictures please?

Alright, looking forward to seeing it. And hers a bonus for your game. This drawing is old, but as always you can modify and use as you see fit. Maybe it can be some sort of antagonist in your game or something. Initially it was supposed to be character for my story, but I will never begin nor finish the game I planed him for.

    4 Full Body Pictures please?

Here is Char3. Ayame kicks ass, she really did great job with re-design of char4. I sketched him out quickly, I hope that Ayame can fix his hair better than I sketched it.
