Thanks Thief and Zodak, I've been playing with events but I had the actor check box selected. Now everything is in order.

How did you put that NPC down in the first place. When I try to place a character they are only present on map when they are also in my party

10-4 I set an event and tried to insert character into his home. At first he would not be there when I did a playtest. Then I fiddled around and got him in the house there, dialogue is working. But now I got his clone in my party somehow trying to tag along. How do I regulate my party? I take that back, wen I take him out of my initial party he also disappears from the spot I planted him in his home. Figured that out. Now I'm trying to use event to place a plant on the ground that will yield an item which I created when activated. Everything seems to be in order but plant does not appear during playtest.

Excellent, thanks for the info. I need to know the basics as I am new to RPG Maker. Just downloaded Gimp and ready to get started. I need to know the dimensions of a tile. Is there a tutorial or template to get me started?
