@Garranger: Even so, if you look closely the eyes are off perspective wise, or at least to me. If you look at the center (color and pupil) of the eyes they are bit off. They aren't both facing the same view.
Last time I checked, they were humans, not chameleons.

I love seeing character's develop through art

They all look exceptional and noteworthy in my opinion. Cyril and Maeve's eyes are a little weird. The perspective seems off on their 'far' eyes. Other than that I'm really liking all of these characters.

When you said punk, I totally thought Steampunk! That would be awesome. XD
Well, if you feel you would have more freedom and ease doing a modern setting, by all means.

1. Personally, I feel the player should be able to choose gender. Having broader audience is not a bad thing. But keep York, she sounds cool.
2. Romance should be an option, but not entirely central to the plot. And by all means, I think gay romance would be a unique change of pace. If you do that, then gender selection should definitely be an option as well.
3. I think you need to flesh the idea out just a bit more before you decide what time period.

I like it. It's obviously a work in progress right now, so there isn't a whole lot of feedback I could give.
That aside, her mouth is irritating. One thing I don't care for in the RTP faces is that their mouths are open, exposing their teeth or inside of their mouths (depends). I'd like to see the basic face of this portrait with a close mouth. It might help give her a more serious, more mature look.

You're actually hitting on a few ideas I intend on using.
Is there any reason you don't like option 3 in particular?
