Is this any different than Yanfly's script?

Ideas for Custom Algorithms

I'm not a fan of streamlined generic stat scaling either, it ends up being really uninteresting when you play the game. -
Someone upgrade this guy to pro, asap!

Keep up the good work, even if they're just edits they look pretty good and variety plays a key part in dungeon making in lengthy games.

Well... if you went the route of creating two (or three if you wanted that many) separate characters per promotion you'd only really have to compensate when it comes to variables that reference a specific character slot, so as tedious as it would be you would just have to check twice for every character to determine which class (or more literally which character slot) was active. Other than that, I feel this would be an easy way to go about it because you can add "bonus" statistics to the base promoted class based on the final statistics of the pre-promoted class, similar to how characters in Path of Radiance who reached maximum level would give bonus statistics to theirselves in Radiant Dawn. As far as faking the levels goes, it would be purely visual since the way I'm thinking is that on any status screen that displays a level, in actuality a character who was just promoted at level 20 would be level 21, but if you changed the menu display scripts to subtract 20 when they are promoted it would display as 1 (21 minus 20). This of course brings up certain implications such as if a character did not promote at 20 and instead used a seal or something at a point before that, in which case you would have to do more work and instead make the static "minus 20" a variable that reflects that level at which they actually promoted, so for example if character promoted at 15 it would only subtract 15 from the character's level in the menu. This method of course means that you would have to do this for every single character, and you would also have to somehow prevent every character who is not promoted from gaining experience when they reach level 20. Edit: another way you could go about seals or promotion before 20 is that you could forcibly have them level to 21 when this occurs and not gain the stats (or have the system subtract the stats that they do gain, if plausible) that they otherwise would have from leveling naturally. I'm not claiming to have the best way to go about what you want to do, I'm just offering simple solutions that work around what might be a difficult system to implement, and it would seem to me that faking it and addressing statistics would be the most simple way. Now this seems more complicated that I had originally assumed, however I don't think lag would be an issue since you would only really have to check for this kind of thing at certain points, and a single check is pretty much irrelevant since it's not like your entire army will level at the same time after a single battle. If I'm not making sense, it's because I'm not really sober and I can't read what i just wrote, sorry. Edit Again: If I really do make sense this drunk, I think I need a lobotomy, so please tell me I'm an idiot.

Yes, I'm familiar with the Tales series, but I've really never had the drive to get any of the games that were released for GC/PS3. I'm sure I'd enjoy them (particularly Tales of Vesperia, the demo was amazing, and I like the characters). However, as a jaded gamer it is extremely difficult for me to play or develop interest in modern games. I'm an oldschool gamer at heart, and frequently play Genesis and SNES games.

Eh, the Berserk anime is subpar (and hardly breaks the surface) compared to the manga and the Gantz anime is also terrible compared to its manga, I'm not sure when I mentioned them because they really only appeal to certain individuals. However, if you enjoyed Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero is FAR superior in animation, music, story, and characterization, I pretty much hate most current and modern anime but it's one of the most well done and top notch animes I've seen in years. If you had any interest in in FSN (which I didn't really like, however the visual novel was decent), you will appreciate this one much more, and have something to watch every Saturday/Sunday.

Thanks for the reply, even though I've posted the games I enjoy in another topic, it would be more appropriate to post them here, especially since you've asked. Therefore... Phantasy Star IV (without a doubt my favorite RPG of all time), Shining the Holy Ark, Shining Force 3, Dark Savior, Albert Odyssey, Beyond Oasis, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Final Fantasy IV (I consider it to be the basis for all brilliant RPGs), VII, VIII, & Tactics, Grandia II, Suikoden 1 & 2, Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Fallout 1 & 2 (Tactics was pretty good too...), and any Super Robot Wars Game (I'm not sure they count since they're strategy games...), these are the RPGs that have meant the most to me over the years, and shaped my preferences and ideals as gamer. I'm definitely a "Sega fanboy" and pretty much any oldschool classic on the Genesis or Saturn is a memorable game for me (I love games like Golden Axe and Comix Zone that don't fit under the RPG category), I've played more games than my memory allows me to repeat, but I believe these are the ones that have meant the most to me.

Although there are many things I could comment on regarding your personality and interests, I'll just say that I wonder why you're not interested in the anime Fate/Zero (I'm not too partial to the Fate/Stay Night anime but I won't say the visual novel is bad). I mostly hate mainstream and generic anime (I like things like Berserk and Gantz, I'm a sick bastard I know...) but I feel Fate/Zero would be worth looking into if you enjoy the anime that you say you do.

Hmm, perhaps you could modify the script that displays character's levels in the menu to subtract 20 or so from the characters's level if a variable says that they are promoted. If you want them to be able to promote from 10-20 instead of only 20 then other measures could be taken, however I feel it would be easiest to "fake" their current level rather than try to adjust the experience table. I'm a fan of Fire Emblem and I really feel that the best option to take with this system is to merely "fake" reset the character's level than to actually reset and change the class of a character in terms of the actual game and database. Perhaps a more experienced user will disagree though, and that would be in your favor. However, I guess my solution would have stat growth implications if characters were allowed to advance at any level between 10-20, but this is my suggestion offhand. Edit: Without too much scripting I've also thought of another idea, inspired by the fact that characters that reached maximum level in the GC Fire Emblem received bonus statistics in the Wii Fire Emblem, and this is to create separate characters for everyone's basic class and promoted class, and just add statistics to the advanced class based on the statistics of the pre-promoted class. Using this method, you will easily be able to adjust the experience tables to your liking, and it seems very fitting for this type of game (although my method may have certain implications that I haven't thought of). Again, I'm merely offering simple solutions that avoid having to do much scripting, and I assume that is suitable for your needs. I can go into futher detail if you have questions, because I can think of several ways to make this method especially effective and true to the Fire Emblem style.

I've made a few posts but I guess I'll introduce myself the best I can. I haven't read the rules so I apologize if my language is inappropriate, but this will probably be the first and only community I'll ever be willing to share so much information and develop a personal connection with, if not only because I love RPGs. I'm mostly a cynical uncaring bastard that likes to insult those who make stupid mistakes or have lower intelligence than myself, but I'll restrain myself from doing so because everyone here most likely has a similar interest and connection to RPGs. This will be the only time I will discuss my personal project, but the RPG I'm making is a gift to my closest friends for all of their kindness and help that they've given me over the years, and as stupid and childish as it may sounds I feel that since RPGs are my greatest passion, and I can put all of my heart, soul, and creativity into it if it's for my closest friends. Unfortunately this means I will not be able to share a lot of what I'm developing with the rest of you (including the final release), and while I don't like the fact of the matter, I'd still like to become a part of this community, and contribute what I can. I'm not very skilled in creating resources, and my specialties are game design and coding (I was considered the best student in my class in years by my teacher when I still went to school... but I haven't really done any coding in years....). However, I will try my best to give advice to aspiring individuals who want to make an RPG that such individuals wish to have a personal connection with, this is the most I can offer to all of you. I've played so many RPGs during my lifetime, some of which I've developed a personal connection and considerable liking to. For this reason I feel I can offer advice that will be useful in making a game enjoyable for the players, which I feel is the most important aspect of an RPG. Although someone's game should be what they want it to be, I feel the author should take the enjoyment of the people who will eventually play their game into deep consideration. Anyway, I hope you will accept me into this community and look deeper into the things I say that you normally would, because when I give advice or criticism, it has more meaning than you might understand at first sight. Also, I don't want anyone to reply to much of what I've said, and I request that you instead discuss why you've decided to make a game, and why you feel the drive and passion to do so. I'm doing this to bring enjoyment to my friends. Also I'm drunk, which is most likely the only reason I've said this much... haha...
