  1. Starting a new project.
    The previous one just got to the point of overcomplicated to fix, especially since I know not what is in error.

    So, this new one is going to be less complex, I hope...
    (my super-charged creativity makes 'simple' impossible)

      Oh, I know the feeling. I've pretty much rebuilt the systems in my project at least 4 times now. It always starts off fairly simple, but has a way of slowly but surely growing more and more complex and hard to keep track of. -_-

  2. You know, I am curious. What kind of magic does a vis mage do anyway?

      Vis is an element in my game, or in a way, it's kinda all the elements in my game. It's pretty much a pure state of mana, before it has gained an elemental affinity. As such, someone who can control Vis can essentially control all the other elements at the same time, like some sort of Rainbow Mage 😎. A fireball here, some ice spikes there, a typhoon over yonder, all that fun stuff. A jack of all trades, master of none. 🙃

  4. "Nesian Ultima" the most cheating boss skill I ever made...

    The Guard Skill break. 100% Hit. Fixed 99999 area damage. 100% Stun state.

    The boss who have this skill usually use it when their Hp below 50% to send player to gameover screen.

    Oh! right actor max hp is 9999, that's all.

      Be very careful with this sort of design.

       

      Just because you have some sneaky work around doesn't mean the player will pick up on it, even if it's blatantly told to them. If it's told in a cryptic way, the player might not find the right answer. Even if it's very obvious, you can't expect players to remember every hint they come across. Say, they put the game down for the night. By the next day, they'll have likely have forgotten some of the details. And worse yet, if it's something you don't even hint at, and expect them to trial and error. 

       

      With that said, there are ways you can do this Ultima attack, and still have it be both fun and fair. 

       

      Also, this doesn't directly apply here, but be careful about taking inspiration from FF. They may be the poster series of RPG's, and have done a lot of things right, but they're far from perfect.

  5. What formula could I use for MV to allow an item to heal 100 on field but 300 in battle?

    I understand I need to use a switch, but I forgot how to use them in formulas >.<

      I did a bit of digging, and I think I found what you're looking for.

       

      $gameSwitches.value(1) ? 100 : 300

       

      Put this formula on your healing item. If switch 1 is off, you'll heal 100. If it's on, you'll heal 300.

      Like PhoenixSoul recommended, you can check for a switch/variable/state. If you have evented encounters, you can have a switch/variable turn on as you enter battle, and turn off after you win/escape. If you're using random encounters, you'll want to go with states. Just add a turn 0 battle event give the whole party a state that doesn't wear off, but is removed at the end of battle.

  9. Is there a simple script (for VX Ace) that just creates a static "shadow" picture under the characters' sprites? I've tried looking all of them overkills.

      Here's the one I personally use. It can add shadows to the player, as well as events, if you wanted.

      Oh yeah, I forgot I had changes that. :P

       

      Ridge Island is the starting area in my project. It's a magic academy built on a tropical island. Kinda wish I was there opposed to cold, snowy Wisconsin.

       

      I haven't actually played any of the Ridge Racer games myself, but I've heard good things about them. :)

  12. I want some ideas, i'm making a game with a lot of races, they are all anthrophomorphic animals. I want you to suggest an animal and 2 race skill for a puzzle based game. eg. Frog/ Skill 1 - Jump / Skill 2 - Take items with it's tounge.

      Sure, I'll give it a shot!

       

      Jellyfish, Skill 1-Surf (can move over otherwise impassable water tiles), Skill 2-Volt (can produce electricity to activate or deactivate certain objects. Possibly could be used as a form of magnesium).

  15. Turning school supplies into weapons for my game was a great plan. Though I'm starting to realize I know very little about school supplies...And also don't have any icons about them. Oh well! At least I know paper airplanes could totally make you go blind.

      If icons are what you need, I suggest you check out Avery's iconset here: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/21623-day-3avys-icon-workshop-advent-buisness/ She has a collection of nearly 2400 icons that are free to use, including some school supplies.

      How about a large scale dungeon, separated into 4 distinct quadrents (Such as one being overgrown with lush flora, while another being rugged and rocky, with crevasse and stalagmites. In each of these sections, there is an odd keystone of a different color, and in the center of the 4 sections, there is a doorway that can be opened by placing the keystones in a certain order, which is hinted at by hidden messages that can be found in the respective section.
