No one has said Stampede? That would be cool. Just a bunch of cows charging through a battlefield. I don't know how serious this game is supposed to be, or how real life or fairy tale your cowboy is either. Stampede would be on the not too serious side though.

I think the best relationships in stories are the ones that come together based on shared dreams and goals. All too often I see people be friends to advance the story, or make something happen. However, these people don't seem like they would ever be friends, and hardly interact. Oh, I need a big strong guy in the story? Let's just through this guy in here. Uh-oh, looks like I'm forgetting a love story... better put in this hollow shell of a woman for the lead to get hot and steamy with. Saying people are friends and such is one thing. Actually making us feel like they are is another.

This was just sounding like it implied that the reason she did not become pregnant was that she was always on top. Some parts of the world still believe this, and I didn't want you having any accidents. Also, the story would already be bad haha.
-
I feel like you need to broaden the color pallet some more. The colors used for the characters are indistinguishable from the backdrops. I am not sure if this is intentional, but as far as game design goes it is a bad idea. The artwork itself is great.

I think it would be cool to find good fiction writers out there to develop a story. Bounce ideas back and forth. I know the Dragonlance writers did this, and I love the main books in that series. I have a few ideas, but my friends aren't the creative types and view this as geeky or nerdy. They are respectful of it, but they can't make a story worth anything haha. Anyway, yeah. There it is. If you'd like to bounce ideas about, let me know. Thanks!

Speaking of Dragonlance, I gave away all my DL books
Pretty cool stuff and stories, I enjoyed all of them. -

It would be pretty cool, but I think something like this always needs something of a framework story for the writers to work withing, or else they just start spewing every idea that comes to them in one conversation. I think things like this are pretty cool, but they really need a good frame work for the world/story before you start asking people on board.

This is a bit different than what's up, but I enjoy it immensely. P.S. to all you K-Pop lovers, I'm living in the Republic of Korea right now. They are everywhere. Also, I'll get you an autograph or something. They host events like, every day. Oh, and Starcraft.

Just for your information, you can still get preggers if the girl is on top. Gravity doesn't pull it down and out...

Saying your game is 'hard' not by virtue of it's mechanics or puzzles, but by the enemy simply being able to kill you with 1 hit. That's not hard, that's dumb. Dark Souls is this to a tee. It's unbalanced, buggy, and the AI is beyond horrible. The enemies are easy to avoid, they are dumb, and they hit invisible walls that you can just wail on them from. The only 'hard' part about this is that when they land a hit, it kills you. I still play it to use the broken items against other players when I invade them. It makes them rage so hard.

I left this for some time, but I do like your comment at the end. I've focused on the writing portion, kind of like a book, and not so much the game. Anyhow, yes, Valdus does end up being the main villian, and the remaining 'Gods' do come to the player's aid. Valdus's father has become hollow and violent, but when he relises that Valdus is his son he tries and make him fight for the people again. Faloir has also grown weary of the God's war and joins his forces with the godless humans. He ends up having to fight his son though, almost right before the player does. After the main battle with Valdus, the gods decide that they are causing more pain than anything, and retreat into the Resonance, leaving the world to it's own devices. Thousands of years after this is were the story I was originally writing takes place. A world with tanks, jets, guns, politics, and magic. I'll leave a bit of that story following. Warning though, it is a bit longer than normal posts. (Pardon my grammar) Bodies were everywhere. Keyru had done the best she could, but her powers were drained. She closed her eyes, trying to summon something. She couldn't even hear the musical notes of the resonance. The field hospital she was working at now was packed with the wounded soldiers of the battle raging a few miles from it. They cried for help, cried for their families, or simply cried for their ends. As she took it all in, it made her feel hopeless to just watch them. There was nothing she could do, and little else the rest of the staff could either. To her it was the worst feeling in the world. She had joined the military right out of school, going into the medical track because of her proficient healing abilities. Her country was in a smaller war then, and she thought it would be the best way to use her talents and be useful. She wasn't wrong. There had been no shortage of wounded for her to heal, or any battles were her abilities were not needed. What she hadn't counted on was the faces. She couldn't bare to look at them. Any of them. They all told stories, none of which she liked. "Keyru! Keyru, get over here, we need you!" She looked up. Two medics had just burst through the fabrication's doors, holding a litter with a Hundlun soldier on it. Behind them burst in a man who appeared to be a mercenary. He looked like hell. "What happened?" She asked when she got up to the litter they carried. The man on it was young, and looked surprisingly clean. In fact, he looked like he was in perfect health. His face was calm. "I don't know, but according to his vitals, he is only hanging on to life. The merc," The medic, Jon, motioned his head at the mercenary, "said he was hit through the chest. I'm going to get his armor off." . Keyru turned to look at the mercenary. "Is this true? He looks fine, We're going to need to know what really happened to help your friend." She was surprised to see him holding a large sword. It was rather plane, with a skinny long handle, a little longer than a foot. The blade was about six. On the blade towards the handle, it looked like someone had punched a hole through it. "What? Yes that's what happened!" He threw his hand in the air, then smacked himself on top of the head with it. "I mean, that's what it looked like! It wasn't like he was hit with a bullet, the other guy just touched him in the chest and this light went threw it!" He dropped his hand, looking lost. He started to talk in a barely audible tone "The whole place was blowing up. Everyone was vanishing, just turning into flashes of light and dust. I... I don't know." "Sir, what are you saying?" Keyru tried to look into his eyes. "He tried to save him, but he was hit. He lost his mind... Then the other guy. He stopped him." The mercenary let go of the sword, and it crashed into the ground. He dropped to his knees then buried his head into his hands. Keyru was terrified. She didn't know why, but it was a bone chilling fear. "Sir, what-" "Keyru! Get over here, look at this!" Jon said and waved her over. She took one last look at the mercenary before walking over. "Look at his chest. I've never seen any wound like it." he said. She looked down and saw a clean, perfect circle in the man's chest, the size of his heart. The sides of the wound weren't burned, but they didn't bleed. She could see his heart weakly beat through his ribs. She heard the resonance building inside her as she stared at the man. She turned back to the mercenary. He was leaning against the wall now, breathing hard. He looked up at her. "What the hell happened?" she asked. The mercenary got off the wall. He took a couple of steps away from her and began to open his mouth, then he closed it. He looked back at her, looked straight into her eyes. There she saw all she needed. Her heart skipped a couple beats, and she broke into sweat. The uncontrollable fear was back. A Hundlun soldier burst through the doors. "Everyone! Get the hell out! We're being over run! Take who you can, but you have to move!" he yelled. Panic broke out in the makeshift hospital, but she continued to look at the merc. Jon got up and grabbed her. "Keyru, let's go!" Jon said "No, I'm staying with him." she said, turning back to the soldier. "Are you fucking nuts? Who knows what those Andogge guys will do!" Jon yelled trying to move here. "Keyru, go. I'll take care of him, I promised." The mercenary said, walking over to her. "You get out of here." "But where are you going to go? He needs to get on the evacuation trucks!" she said "No, we're getting out of here, but not like that. He needs to vanish. Mark him as dead." He turned to her. "Promise me you'll do that? He can't remember this day and what happened. He can't go back okay?" Keyru didn't want to, but she knew she had to. She knew that the man laying on the litter was special. She knew that whatever had happened to them tonight had been horrific. "Alright." she said, nodding her head. "Thank you, now get out of here. Don't worry about us. I'll get him out. You have many more lives to save." He said, lifting the soldier onto his shoulders. "Be safe." Its all she could think to say before heading out of the fabrication. Outside, she could hear the gunfire and see the explosions. They were dangerously close. An explosion went off to her left. "Keyru! This way! They started mortering us! Get on the truck!" Jon yelled, getting on the truck himself. She could see hundreds of people trying to get away from the battle front. They where jumping into whatever they could, even fighting over spots. One of the vehicles exploded from a mortar round, sending the people packed on top of it flying. She started to run for the truck. "Hurry up! The trucks taking off!" Jon held out his hand. She reached out for the hand her legs burning, her lungs breathing in the dust kicked up from the explosions. She began to cough and she could see the truck speed up. "Jump for me, I'll grab you!" He said She leaped at him, holding out both her hands. Jon leaned towards her, and grabbed her left arm, pulling her hard. Her feet slammed into the ground, causing immense pain. She clenched her teeth and tried to scream at the same time. The truck dragged her for while before Jon could lift her into the bed. "Are you okay?" he asked "Yeah, my legs are just hurting, I think one may be broken." she said and he laid her down on a bench. As she looked out the back, she could still see the people scrambling for their lives. She looked towards the hospital. She couldn't see the merc or the soldier. "You think they're alright?" Jon asked. Two mortar shells fell onto the hospital, bursting it into flames. Keyru looked back at Jon. "Yes, I do."

I guess my reasoning is that there are really no Gods in the sense. They are just super powerful users of this world's magic. When they have children, those children are able to harness the magic to a greater degree like their parents, in their respective fields. The 'Gods' can also keep a close eye on them. When two children of different 'Gods' get together, they gift the best of both of their parents to their child, so the kid has amazing potential. Worse yet for the Gods is that if the 'Demi-Gods' breed unchecked, who knows how many potential threats could be running around out there. But... The Resonance is more like a field. It's not like... genetically passed along. Midichlorians here be not. I'll post more up since I'll put trust in this forum. "Valdus starts the game wanting just for the gods to recognize man's ability to rule themselves. This later turns to him wanting to erase all of the gods. After trying to 'save' multiple villages from their influence, he sees that many think that without the gods the world would be chaos. Water would not flow, fire would come from the sky, that sort of thing. He tries to argue about it, but he gets nowhere. They also believe that if they worship the gods and die, their 'souls' find eternal rest in the heavens. After dealing with this a few times, his opinions change yet again. He decides that if people really want a god, then he would be their god. He would kill all of the gods, taking their place and leading humans to a golden age. After a few catastrophes and massacres lead by humans alone, he decides that humans should be wiped from Sonaria, along with the gods. He would create his own life." The following is a character's opinion as to what happens when they die. There is no set thing. I'd rather that be up to the player. If the player wants the heaven to be real, okay. If they want this other mumbo jumbo, that's cool too. "So if we don't go to heaven what happens?" "Not sure. But the Resonance flows through the world, and each of us is made of a little of it. So when we die, I think that a little bit of us escapes into it. Our emotions, our fears, our loves. Maybe a little of that will find its way into someone else, or maybe, just maybe... All of it will find it's way back together." "So we will be reborn?" "Not exactly. But close enough."

I would like to explain more, but at the same time I am hesitant. I'm not sure how bad the idea stealing on this forum is. So I'll just keep big details to myself, but I promise you the Faloir killing Seyru isn't so cut and dry haha. But I do appreciate the reply and ideas!

This is a great Idea. I mean, I don't know how to make platform/puzzle games, but yes. I'm thinking Fez or Limbo. If you put the right thought into the puzzle areas, and make switching between the two a core mechanic, this could be good. I don't really have input, I'm more of a story guy, but I just wanted to give you some encouragement.

I like the sound of the story. It has the right amount of cliche and new. Don't think that EVERYTHING has to be knew, people love familiar stuff. That's why we pay billions for reboots haha. I think it would be interesting if there was a huge amount of tension between Adam and the Guardians. He hates them right? Maybe they shouldn't be all warm and friendly off the bat. Maybe the Guardians have to tail him to figure things out? Maybe Hikari hates the assignment, but is told to do it regardless by her superior? Maybe later on, his dark power goes haywire causing him to leave the party, and the three Guardians are tasked with bringing him down towards endgame? but they decide not to, and turn Adam back to the 'good side'? eh, maybes. Also, I don't know what the bad guy's motivation is, but don't just make it evil to be evil. Killing kids? Good reason please! haha. But yeah. Revenge is a good start, but it can't be "I MUST HAVE REVENGE!" the whole story. Kinda gets dry after a while. Also, living in an American city with many different cultures, I'm used to seeing names like Billy Bob and Akiashi right next to each other. Nothing weird about that.

Story; need some feedback; Emma's Sorrow
Kibosh replied to Kalithro's topic in Theory and Development
So what we need is background on the Lord of Dark... and the...Princess of... Light... ugh haha. How do they rule over the lands if the kingdoms don't listen to them? Are they not gods? If not, then how do they turn the 5 into monsters? Is the Princess of Light now evil? And if they are just humans then give them less cliched titles. So these two normal people who brought peace to the land had twins. Somehow this is evil and they must be destroyed? Maybe with some more explanation, we could get the whole picture. -
So I'm 100% new to RPG Maker Anything, and I've had this story half fleshed out for a bit anyhow. I'm writing pages on it, and I thought maybe a quick RPG making thing could help me out. I'll lay out some background, then ask the questions. "No one knows how the world started, or where humans came from. They only know that there has always been a power that flows through some of them. A few were gifted with a force known as the Resonance that allows them to manipulate their surroundings to various degrees. They were given the name, Mundai. Some of these people become so powerful, they no longer need physical bodies. They find ways to transcend and become ethereal beings of immense power, able to work miracles or rain down destruction. Again, no one knows how this happened, and even some of the most powerful Mundai were never transformed. They were worshiped as gods, and they might as well have been for all the power they wielded. At the pinnacle of their times, there were 12. Each nation worshiped their chosen deities. Soon though the Gods became jealous of each other, and having once been human, acted as humans would. They began wars with each other, having their worshipers fight large battles in their honor. The more followers a god could muster, the more powerful they became. Over time, a god named Arithor decided that to gain an advantage, he would take a physical form and sleep with a human to produce a demi-god offspring. This child was born with great understanding of the Resonance, and could easily turn the tide of any battle. Soon, many of the other gods followed suit. They appoint their children as lords over the humans, subjugating them even more. At this point in time, some humans began to harbor a great mistrust and hatred of their once caring gods. They began to denounce their allegiances and withdrew to the edges of the world, seeking to escape the constant bloodshed. They believed it was not the gods' right to interfere with human affairs. They found a sanctuary in a city named Pallisad. The gods cared little to this emerging faction, too focused on each other. Sometime early in the creation of demi-gods, two demi gods met and fell in love. Their child was born with near infinite power. The current gods saw this as a threat to their places, and took the child away. Each told the demi-gods that they were not allowed to harbor feelings for each other, or their children would suffer. Eventually, the son of Arithor found a daughter of Melendar on the battlefield. His army was victorious over hers, and she was captured. Their codes forced them to kill an enemy god's child on sight, yet Faloir could not bring himself to kill Seyru. He took her as a prisoner, but never restrained her. Seyru had many opportunities to leave, but she was drawn to him. Eventually, they had a child. Knowing that the gods would kill him, Faloir and Seyru had him in secret and left him in a human orphanage in the far lands that the mistrusting humans had settled. To fully seal the deception, both agreed that Faloir had to kill Seyru. Over time, the godless cities grow and grow. A few gods view this as a threat, and aim to show their worshipers that disobedience would be punished. They merge forces and march on the godless towns, burning them down. By the time they make it to Pallisad, Faloir and Seyru's child had grown into a young man. He gathered followers to march against the invading armies of the gods. He is the first of the demi-gods to revolt." And this is where the game starts. The forces are attacking Pallisad, and Faloir's son (Valdus) is marshaling an army of peasants. The player character will be one of those peasants. Through the course of the game you will witness Valdus's rise and fall, the story of the main nations (Hudlun and Andogge) as well as the fall of the gods. The player will be an integral part all of these events. The game will focus on themes of Honor, Trust, Fate, Friendship, Love, and Death. The game will be linear, because I can't code. At all. Besides, it is easier to tell a story and get a point across this way. I don't want to build up anything super cool, then end it like Mass Effect did. Names are subject to change, probably for the better. If you have an idea, post it please. I suck at this. I don't want to get spoilerific, so I don't go past the start too much. Also, I actually started writing a story that is set in a modern day fantasy realm, then wanted to find the history to that world... and I came up with this. Hundlun and Andogge are the two rival countries in that world, and in this one they are one. So, questions. Does this sound promising? I have a stable of characters, and wonder how many most of you guys and gals are putting into your games? Does any of this sound cliched to heck? Can you give me better names? Do you want to finish this story and see how it ends? Do you care how many gods there are? And whatever else you guys want to comment on. map attached. Gonna make it game friendly in game. North America is for scale. Any questions please ask.
