Still working on it! Here's screenshots of 3 new areas! The cops are investigating a murder that occured in the national park... is it you? A very chic bar. They probably don't have your kind of drink available though ! An seemingly abandonned church. Not the most confortable place to be for a vampire. Looking forward to read your comments on the screenshot or on the available demo!- 21 replies

Astral Sea: The Red String of Fate -Demo v.0.2.0 Available-
Itsbuffy replied to Nyuuchan353's topic in Games in Progress
It's not that they feel flat per say it's the fact that there's no context around them because there's no story or visual. It's a little like if you took a random RPG you never played, googled it and started to read the enemy list with their stats and short description i dont know if im being clear -

Itsbuffy replied to Nyuuchan353's topic in Games in Progress
Hi there! Here are my unfiltered and hopefully helpful thoughts. I wish we had more on the story. Only 2 lines :-/ . Character list is honestly fairly boring to read without context or at least images to back them up. Not much content in the bio either. I haven't read most of it. I'm not sure about your screenshot choices. I don't mind premade assets; my own game is 90% made of premade asset and ive played RPG maker games with only premade asset before but 3 of the 4 screenshot you chose are shots that don't show any creation. Screenshot 1 is just the title screen with premade asset Screenshot 2 is ok Screenshot 3-4 are premade enemies on a premade background that can be made in 20seconds You should try to show us what you've created so far with the assets (village, caverns, scenes etc) so that we can have a feel of what you're doing and what the game is going to look like. I hope this helps. Good luck -

If somebody wants to trade demo testings and feedback (you try my demo, I try yours and we share feedback) post here or pm me. Your game has to have a thread in the forums. Demos only. I can't commit to play a full game unless it's short. Only msg if you think we can do this ''transaction'' in 4 days or less I've MV and VxAce thx!- 21 replies

In this game, the city is divided by parts and those parts are attached by a subway system. You can't roam everywhere at all times for game balancing reasons. you need to ''unlock'' a subway station in order to be able to get there. A new station is usually unlocked when you get your first new quest in said station. However I was curious to see what the city would look like so far if I attached all the stations ive done so far thogether. It looks like this from a ''plane view'' : All the city is also connected through a sewer system that is not shown here. If you're curious enough, you might find new city stations using the sewers before even unlocking it !- 21 replies

Been a very long time since the last update! The game has now ~8 hours of content with 17 quests. The city is divided with subway stations. There's 4 available ''city parts'' you can explore plus a large cimetery. I made drastic changes in the sewers regarding the enemies. A huge early enemies nerf. It is aimed at making the first sewer level significantly easier than before. Since it's more like an intro/demo/tutorial level than an actual dungeon, I feel like making it relatively easy so the player can actually move on to the ''real semi-open world game'' faster and experience what the game actually is. I didn't made the sewers overly easy even though that is what I initially wanted to do because I don't want the player to feel a huge difficulty spike once out of the sewers. The sewers still requires the player to think before attacking. It's very important that I show the player right away that mindlessly mashing the attack button won't get him anywhere. If you want to know more about this go in the OP and check the changelogs. Aside from continuing the game developement, my plans for the future of this game is set up some kind of recipe system. A couple of food recipe but mostly magical item recipe. I'm also thinking about adding more offensive items in general. The game is lacking some. I will also : - Add more sound effect to make the game feel more alive - Add a couple of special effect if I find a good spot to do so. - Making the intro cutscenes skipable. - Improving the sewer mapping - Improving Rebecca & Sebastian appearance I'd like to learn how to make custom art. I really would love to be able to the art by myself. Im completly clueless on the subject right I hope it's not too hard. Anyway the new game demo is up ! Look in the OP in the demo download section. I'd like some critism and impression before moving too much forward to make sure that the game basics are solid. Also the game has a lot of optional stuff and dialogue possibilities it's very hard for me to do all the debugging by myself. To finish a couple screenshots Police station An abandonned factory The cimetery entrance- 21 replies

Female only party is the best party when you say Dungeons full of traps and puzzles to beat rather than battlers does it mean that your games will have no battle in it or does it mean that your game will not only be battle focused ?

Yes I saw that machina thing it was 1000$ i think. When I saw the price I shrug'd it off my mind since it was way more than what I had and then completly forgot about it. I figured it was the kind of items that you purchase for later parts of the game so I just bought all the best armor/weapon with the quest money. Yes I saw this part, wasn't it a forced scene ? Oh and one more thing I forgot to mention in the first post; the scene were you get captured and tossed into the royal prison. When I got there I was looking around thinking about how I will escape this place... then I just clicked 1 button and got out instantly. That was a very disapointing prison break.

I tried and finished the whole demo. Took about 20minutes to complete. Here are my uncensored thoughts as I played the game. I hope this will help The intro was short and I would've been nice if it had more than just 1 picture and maybe sounds or music. Maybe a little more meat on the bone too. The mapping isn't good. It lacks thoughts, life and details. You should try to check out some mapping tutorials, they're great. My character can go through a lot of stuff (fence, desks, items, furniture) in this game especially in the village. The music choices were good, except the boss ; I wouldve expected another theme than the normal battle theme. I found another village in the mountains. Talked to one of the dwarves there and my game crashed. Then I came back and noticed that the whole village seemed very buggy and unfinished. I don't think you wanted us to see this part... you should remove it from your demo if it's the case. All NPC are bland with 0 personality. The neko and the brother also have 0 personality at all too. The main character's personality is a little better but still very minimal and could also use a lot of work. The battle system so far is very simple and lacks of any depth. It might be because it's the beginning of the game though. Battle are always easier and simpler. The way the gold/exp/enemies are balanced is weird. Some are useless muppets and others are way tougher. The very easy scorpion quest give you ~1500gold which is enough to buy all the best armors/weapons in the game and even some items. Neko spell should cost way more than 4mp this imo.

If my game is free, do I have to bother with copyright at all?
Itsbuffy replied to Itsbuffy's topic in Editor Support and Discussion
I think since my game core is unique and isn't at all under any potential copyright threats, I can continue further and if somebody want x asset removed from the game even though it's free and credited, I'll replace it. My game don't depend on any music or asset they can all go at any time without causing me much trouble. That being said, I will still try a little bit hard to stay away from potential inconvenience. The only thing that would be a huge annoyance to change is the main character graphics as it's all over the place during scenes and conversations. It would be really long and tedious to change. I'll cross my fingers I guess.
