You can probably assemble an HTTP client in RM, to talk to a REST API which handles your transactions and account details.

Since you're used to traditional media, you're used to coordinating your hand and the image while looking at both- that's not the same if you're using most graphics tablets (unless you're a lucky owner of a Cintiq, if so, ignore me).

I'll throw up some critique. Mind you, I'm not a good artist at all, I just happen to have some formal art education from my art student days. Red Eye is a technically interesting piece, and the negative space is interesting. What does throw me off is consistency of your color blending- the background uses very sharp changes between color, while the subject has softer changes. It stays very readable from a distance and up close (zoomed out, and the way you've presented it), which is a plus. For Idol, Ninja, and Vampire- I can tell that you're using stylized forms, but the lack of contrast in the hair makes it a little muddy. I'd try breaking up the color by adding individual strands of hair here and there, like you did with Vampire, but following the contours of the hair. In Vampire, it often looks like the hair is standing up- kinda like hair that you would have after waking from bed. Another potential issue is that your perspective seems to be off, which you can easily fix by using references photos of real people or a model. Based on Red Eye, I think you have some experience drawing realism, but I'd probably extend that even more if you're drawing without references/from memory/from imagination. My professor always claimed that an artist isn't ready to draw something in a stylized form from the mind (or imagination really) until they've drawn it from life/realism about ~10,000 times. So I would definitely recommend more realism pieces here, and that practice will help you immensely. Don't get discouraged either, as Hirei, who does art for some of the official Degica RPG Maker stuff has similar problems. At the size that you're presenting it, A Town on Fire looks a little unclear. I did a quick zoom out on it, and that improved it a lot. If you're finding that you really like working with large brush strokes, that aren't necessarily clear, try drawing on a larger canvas, and then resizing it to be smaller when you're ready for others to view it. This is a fairly common technique in a lot of art, and is especially important when you're making art that is meant to be read from a distance. Since it's computerized art, I'm assuming that's not the case here. Another point that really sticks out to me is that you have detail on the image that is muddy and not well defined- in particular, the smoke and the lighting in some instances. For those, you might try decreasing the opacity of your whites, with the more opaque white centered around the source of the smoke/steam/light- if you watch similar effects in life, you'll noticed that both light and smoke tend to decrease in intensity further away from the source, as well as dissipate. For the smoke, you might try going with a finer brush, to match the detailing that your line art has. For perspective, I'm going to re-emphasis working from references/life again; there's no better guide to perspective than the real world. Like traditional medium, you'll only get better with the tablet the more you use it. One technique that I've found helpful for bridging the gap between tablet and paper is to stop looking at your hand while you draw with traditional. Practice drawing while only looking at your subject- you can kinda glance at your paper, but it shouldn't be the focus of it. Try spending 10-15 minutes a day on these 'contour sketches', and you'll probably notice a big difference. Edit: I'd throw up some quick examples, but unfortunately, my actual ability to draw/paint is far behind my understanding of art theory and art technique. Also you could definitely improve your composition a lot. I'll go into that later into the day, when I can focus and am more awake.

Starseeker Chronicles [OOC][INFO] - Recruitment

Thanks for your interest, Jupitera. The world is one of two that I've been designing for use in roleplay- the other one being a more traditional fantasy setting that I use for my tabletop sessions when I run a game with some of my friends and family. Within the Alleras itself, the most dominant race are the dwarves (including Duergar). Dwarves in Starseeker are similar to those in Dragon Age in that they rarely venture to the surface, so their entire civilization is based underground in different factions based around family. They were the least affected by the the darkness that fell on the world, but they were subject to attacks by the surface dwelling humans prior to the Fall. Unlike what you might see in other fiction, the dwarves don't construct massive complexes with open spaces (Moria/Lonely Mountain), they're a short and tough people and that's reflected in their construction, which tends to consist of small spaces and chokepoints that enhance the defensibility of dwarven settlements. The humans are next, with all sorts of different races mixed into their bloodlines (extraplanar, elven...etc). While humans have made good progress recovering from the Fall, the human population hasn't risen much, due to supply and space constraits. Human settlements in the underground are known as 'enclaves', and tend to be constructed in proximity to lava flows, where there's ample heat and light. Enclaves are also home to halfings, although they're a lot rarer. Elves are the least populated species in Alleras, although they've recovered a lot better than humanity. Elven settlements tend to be centered around the Feygates, allowing them to recieve supplies and support from the Fey plane, as well as defending the gates from creatures that thrive in the darkness that shrouds the planet. Less civilized known races, although not necessarily less intelligent, include goblins, who moved underground after the humans, orcs, who have embraced the darkness and roam across the wastelands of the surface world as nomads, as well as the outcasts from other races that have been shunned or carry more extraplanar blood than is the norm, who live in camps in the vicinity of settlements, or even, in the ruins of failed settlements. There are more races that populate the Fey plane, as well as other planes, but they rarely cross into the material plane (a notable exception being demons). As a character on Alleras, this is something you don't know very well, and even the old records from before the Fall are unclear on this matter. Hope this scratches some of that itch. These aren't all the environments and races on Alleras- I've just picked the ones I feel are most relevant to the start of the campaign. -

Thanks for the reply. I'll probably throw up a little more detail on the different environments specific to the different races if there's any interest in them. To some extent, the base classes are indeed effected by the state of the world. The deities are no longer in the world or unable to commune with their followers, so Oracles are unable channel divine power, and Inquisitors don't really have a role in society outside of their ability to rely on similar magic trinkets like Paladins. Witches can still rely on outsiders or entities from other planes, but are more likely to be involved with something from beyond the Feygates, as that particular plane is the closest in connection to Alleras. Alchemists and Gunslingers are definitely going to be more prevalent in human and dwarven societies, due to magic becoming even more secret from most of the population. You don't have any magic academies, but your wizards and clerics are going to be a fairly secretive and exclusive group. Extraplanar influence in humans is going to be present, but since it's about 3000 years since the world changed, individuals with very obvious extraplanar traits aren't going to be the norm. Those that do have obvious traits- horns, auras, fire, rock...etc are going to be found outside of the human enclaves, within their own camps or communities. -

Starseeker Chronicles Three thousand cycles ago, the world of Alleras was plundged into an unnatural darkness, so deep that even the stars were blotted out. The panic that ensued saw the destruction of the great empires of the world, in petty squabbles over resources: Food to feed armies, and wood to sustain fires. The conclusion to the great conflict, remembered by many as the Fall, left a broken people that sought respite away from the ruined world. The races of men delved down into the deep caverns of Alleras, the realm of the dwarves, and built enclaves sustained by small fragments of arcane knowledge and the ever-flowing lava from the core of the planet. The elves, unable to defend their once majestic forest fortresses retreated to the hidden corners of the world and beyond the ancient Feygates into the realm of the nature spirits. Starseeker Chronicles is a fantasy roleplaying campaign based upon the Pathfinder RPG. Rules for the Pathfinder RPG can be accessed at the Pathfinder Reference Document for free (you can also use the hardcopy books or PDFs published by Paizo), and The Archives of Nethys under the Open Game License. Characters will be managed using the Automated Pathfinder Character Sheet. There are some minor differences from the Pathfinder rules for this campaign. Available Races: Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Half-Elves (if you want to play another race, let me know and we can discuss it) Elves and Dwarves are unable to take Paladin or Cleric classes. Instead, Elves have access to the Druid class. Human Clerics are required to undertake the Magic Domain and the Knowledge Domain, to represent how they've developed their own divine magic in absence of any divine involvement since the Fall. Paladins are playable, but they derive their abilities from arcane knowledge rather than a deity. At 1st level, a Paladin starts with a unique class item, the Symbol of Unity, which allows them to use their special abilities. Paladins that lose this item are unable to use their abilities. This thread is mainly a general information thread, as well as a thread to check for interest and recruit players. If there's anything that's unclear, anything that needs to be addressed, or anything that you're like to point out or ask, this is the place to voice it. If there's sufficient interest/participation, I'll branch out another thread for RP and character information. Edit: Dice rolls will use Invisible Castle. You don't need to know how to play Pathfinder- Just be familiar with basic overview of skills and items, I'll handle all the rules and crunch. If you are interested in learning the ruleset, or have difficulty understanding something, contact me! -
EDITORIAL: Early DLC Exclusives Don't Help Anybody
seitensei commented on Novem's blog entry in The Ninth Life Gaming
Is it necessarily 'early exclusive', or are the developers just focused on the one platform and then PORTING to the other platforms afterwards. Take Skyrim for example- Despite being traditionally a PC centric series, the latest TES addition had very console specific menus/controls- But now the DLC is announced to be releasing on the Xbox first, where it would only make sense to release on PC first. Call of Duty, on the other hand, makes sense to release on Xbox first- That's because the PS3 version is a port of the Xbox version. If you look at any of them, while they make good use of the Xbox's capabilities, they don't exploit the PS3's graphical and computing hardware at all, compared to say Crysis 2 (which runs my PS3 hot). It's just a matter of, "SHIT, WE DON'T WANT TO LET THEM KNOW THAT WE WORK ON THIS SYSTEM FIRST AND THEN PORT TO OTHERS." How to do that? "Early Exclusive". As for Skyrim? The PC version is horrible buggy and how it handles mods (which is the main reason for a PC purchase of the game) is buggy as well, resulting in instant crash to desktop (without warning or logs). -
EDITORIAL: Features Exclusive by Platforms is Bullshit
seitensei commented on Novem's blog entry in The Ninth Life Gaming
How much do you actually know about SDK for PS or Xbox? Does it necessarily expose all components in the same way? In the case of the Kinect voice feature- Does it work with headsets/microphones on the Xbox as well? -
What do you mean by priority? Perhaps I don't remember XP very well. In RPG Maker XP, you were able to set it as such that tiles would overlap your character if they stood on the same coordinates of the tile, but have the character overlap instead otherwise. An example was with RPG Maker XP's counter/table, where the size was two tiles, but the actual graphic was centered in the middle of the two tiles, so that on one end, a character could 'appear' to be standing behind the table, with his legs hidden by the table graphic. VX and VX Ace lack this kind of system- There is a simplistic priority system where the tile can simply just be over the player, and not adaptable.
-
I don't see it as a feature, and I'm not sure if it is possible, but are you able to add support for different levels of priority? Similar to how it was set up in RPG Maker XP.

In previous RPG Makers, it was permitted so long as you had purchased your license. Examples of commercially available games include 'To The Moon', as well as 'Fated Haven', by our very own Nathaniel.
