Don't be rude to the children. You'll need them later when they become drunks and obtain super high sugar levels.

Btw, there is a means to report these status updates. You can't do it from the home page, but you can from the dedicated status update area. The font could perhaps be a colour that stand out more but it is there nonetheless.

Dang. That's a way better system than what we have over here. Here, healthcare is more or less considered a privilege. Heck, people have outright stated that it is. I'm freakin' jealous.

Its far from perfect but its an impressive system with the right direction; Its one of the few good things left about this country.

And our overpriviliged, idiotic populace think it isnt worth a damn if they cant have an appointment free, immediately but also suits their personal schedule (oh and that they can cancel halfhour before infinite times), that they can find because we somehow control their sense of direction and with parking for the several thousand people that make up the staff, patients and their visitors. And while doing all of this for me make it more efficient for less money would you? What do you think I pay eff all in taxes for?!

      Yeah. People...

Lol. America is the same way. We'll always find something to complain about ^_^ We were on the right track to healthcare reform under Obama. Maybe one day we'll get a single payer system like the rest of the modern world. Maybe one day...

Now the Republicans want to undo everything Obama did because like PP said, their platform is that healthcare is a privilege not a right. Trump seems to want to undo it out of jealousy. And probably because Obama is black.

At least you have free healthcare on your side of the pond. That's leaps and bounds ahead of US.

What Have You Gotten Done Today?

Yeah, I hate exercising. That's probably why I feel better about getting it out of the way rather than doing the things I enjoy more, paradoxical as it sounds. Borderlands is a pretty good series, the first game in particular was great for its time. I'm playing the Pre-Sequel now which definitely deserves all the negative criticism it received but is still an enjoyable enough romp through space

What Have You Gotten Done Today?

I'll be in work for the next eight and a half hours. Then the usual routine of exercise, reading and guitar practice. The last couple of hours will be exploring Pandora's Moon in Borderlands :3

    Hi im new to rpgmaker

Well, not to hijack the thread but you could event one of those. Just make the player a cursor image then have a parallel process for managing turn progression and the ai on enemy turn. Relaying info like stats could be put in the menu perhaps. Selecting units would be just setting them to 'through' and 'below player',display their move route with pictures (...you would need to limit movement with a little snippet actually, although you could maybe make a really ugly way with the editor's variables). Yeah, I'd say its totally possible to event that system. It just wouldn't be as pleasant to make or look as good in the end as if it were scripted.

    Hi im new to rpgmaker

Hey, welcome to the forums If you mean tactical games like Fire Emblem then you're in luck as those have been a popular design for RM users since XP. Look around and you're sure to find some scripts for it. I half made one from scratch a few months ago so I can assure you its pretty easy. I could probably give you a hand if you get stuck but I'm super evil this month.

Text or speech? What grasps you more?

Speaking from the biological side of horror, the mind processes sound faster than images and horror relies on you not really having time to approach things rationally. Also voiceovers would take control of the story's pace away from the player, making them weaker subconsciously and again, pressuring them to focus on things moment by moment rather than dwell casually on things. All this ignores the practical side of voiceacting that others have stated since I'm going to assume that if you're asking this in the first place its because you already have means to the end (although I don't understand why you wont ask your friends; are you suggesting you will do all the voiceacting yourself because its a solo project?) That being said. Old men like me appreciate subtitles to our voiceovers and would be half-reading anyway :3

    Looking to Establish a Team

No, I'm going to close this thread and encourage anyone looking for a team to check out one of the other threads. I would also strongly advocate that no-one ask to join those teams if they are not 100% committed to such an undertaking, otherwise you are just wasting others' time. Using Cyon's case as an example (sorry to single you out) asking a group of people to work around one person's sporadic schedule, especially with the likelihood that participants will be different timezones, just isn't viable.
  16. Hey RMers, So, rather than the usual 'help me with my game' recruitment requests I'd like to start a small team within the community. I have no set game in mind; instead, I would like us to initially discuss ideas and then create a portfolio of small games. I think the ideal size for this team would be around six people - anything greater than eight would probably be a logistical nightmare. I'm not overly concerned about people's current skill sets; We are all continuously improving and I'm confident the selected candidates will be able to compensate for one another's shortcomings. That said, I would prefer to have at least one dedicated artist, scripter and writer - with myself and one other acting as 'floats' to cover the additional workloads in all areas. Again though, the team structure will be flexible and we can design games to accommodate the team members current skills. As for engine choice; while I'm most comfortable with VXA I would be willing to migrate. I'm also happy to use engines outside of RM. So it comes down to what the majority of interested people prefer to use. Communication should be a breeze via discord, but we can also use group pms here and people are welcome to contact me via Steam. In terms of payment - there will be none. This is just an attempt to get some hobbyists working together. If the team holds together and eventually produces something that the majority of members believe to be commercially viable then we will have that discussion. For now though I do not believe it is a concern. I think I've covered everything here. Ofc, if you have any questions or have an interest send me a pm

PM me or report the thread if you ever decide to do so.
  18. @KayzeeErr, yes there is a safe side; to do exactly what I said. Which is to only use a product you've paid for. No fictional army of lawyers are going to take a case where you've got clear proof of purchase, not matter how much 'The Man' pays them. Its an open and shut case. And as much as I know you dislike 'The Establishment' you're not the only person with integrity out there and you'll find that in abundance in the legal system. And no, you're right to say a res pack is not software. It is the closest comparison of what we're discussing though. And to some extent we are discussing distribution. Unless this is some newfangled quantum res pack that simultaneously is and isn't on the computer of a person who shouldn't have access (as its better assume they shouldn't rather than should if uncertain. +1 for safe side) to it after having received and not received those files from someone else.
  19. Going on from what Kayzee said. There are two common types of licence for software. Either the owner has the right to use it (and distribute x copies) or the machine has a right to use it (in which case anyone may use that machine). The issue is that ToU for the res packs do not specify anything like this to my recollection (although, admittedly, its been years since I looked at them); they merely insist on proper crediting. That being said, there is such a thing as 'intended use'; even if you were able to exploit a loophole to get what you want, the very acknowledgement that this is not how the package is intended to be used/distributed and that you had to 'outsmart' the producers/distributors to do so, well, its as much an ethical issue as a legal one. I think its pretty clear from them being distributed via single person accounts that res pack licenses are intended for the use of a single person. I'd recommend just playing on the safe side and either learning to map better yourself (they're harder to find nowadays but try trawling the internet for OceansDream's old tutorials on the subject, they were very comprehensive) or purchasing the res pack for the other person. After all, it sounds great to say 'well the other party will just delete the files anyway' but you can't ensure that they have done so, haven't produced duplicates, etc.

No union at this job. Just the Head of HR who apparently was never even consulted about this change. She wasn't too thrilled about that. We'll see how long this policy lasts. If it starts costing them good people, they'll drop it real quick.

Why is ice cream so expensive in the UK?

Hmm so your unions are like departments of the company? That's super weird. How can they remain impartial if they're internal? :S

...Maybe I just eat too much ice-cream. I feel like there would be a lot more ice-cream based legislature if I ever came into power.

I heard we tried to unionize before I worked here. There is a union for call center reps. It was tricky because we have a call center in Dallas, too. People were coordinating back and forth, and eventually the higher ups caught wing and shut that shit down.

I've also heard an entertaining story about pay rates. Usually meeting are broken into two groups. Well everyone filed into the first meeting and asked for the biggest big wig in the office to attend. Scared the hell out of management.

    Deleting Irrelevant Topics

We don't delete topics. I think someone said it messes up database entries or something similar. What we can do is archive topics so that they're out of the way, just report the topic so we can locate it. Tbh, I doubt there's much reason to be overly concerned with whatever the old topic is though.

Leaving The Actor With 1 HP

Idk the syntax for MV (and don't remember it for VXA now that I try to think of it :P) but couldn't you just put the equivalent of ~'partymember.mhp -1' in the formula box?

    Temporary Death

Those questions look pretty valid to me. Like Shiggy said, the others just want understand the system better before making a judgement. The games you're thinking of could be the Souls series which 'transforms' (just easier to phrase it this way, sorry Souls fans) your character into a 'hollow' on death with reduced HP stat, disables online interactions and a couple of other quirks. It basically forces the player to choose between which state they prefer (maybe its preferable to sacrifice HP not to be interrupted by other players, for example), what items/equipment they're willing to sacrifice for that state, and provides equipment and mechanics that are lore-appropriate to each state. So far your version lacks that depth. If you think of it logically, the player lost at max stats so keeping them alive with half stats so they just keep losing is kind of pointless as they drag themselves home (or even attempt to continue); its likely going to be a meandering timedump and no-one likes backtracking after all. Shiggy's suggestions somewhat resolve these issues but they make a system that makes a game easier even more easy. I wouldn't advocate that you imitate the Souls series (heck, even FromSoftware can't get it right anymore :3) but again I just want to reiterate how both of the 'hollow' and 'human' states are viable in their own way and add how the games are designed around the probability of players dying (whereas yours is designed around the keeping them alive as long as possible).
