  1. From the album: Kaiso's sketches and stuff

I love Animal Crossing, so I drew my character from it. I also decided to draw my character if he were a villager in the game. Though, to be honest, I was just bored and wanted to doodle.

    Kaiso's sketches and stuff

Most sketches are usually concept art for characters. However, there are also some bits of random doodles here and there for either my own amusement or something I drew for someone else.
  3. From the album: Kaiso's sketches and stuff

This is an unfinished gift for a friend that I had been wanting to draw for quite some time. I recently showed it to him and he loved it almost immediately. I did my best drawing them dancing. Or, at least I hope they are dancing. The Nature Forme is a support type form that grants the player skills to help the party out. However, this forme also has some attack skills that can be used in great affect to inflict debuffs on enemies. The Dryad is a forme for one of the other characters in the game. Her special gift is nature and her healing powers are very powerful. I could go into more detail, but I would like to wait until I draw up her character and get the full bio from my friend. Both looks were inspired by Leafeon.

    Concept - Nemo (A.k.a "Tyke")

From the album: Kaiso's sketches and stuff

I have quite a few characters that need redesigns, but this one was the one I enjoyed doing the most since I haven't drawn him in ages. This is Nemo. However, among his peers, he's known as Tyke. He is a mouse who is around the age of 12. He's also a bit of a trickster, but he hasn't always been like that. Due to an unforeseen accident, he's found himself living within alley ways and finding ways to get by at such a young age. However, he's got much bigger ambitions, but his current peers advise him not to go through with it. He may be considered a "thug" at such a young age, but deep down he's just a broken soul trying to make it through this cruel world.

    Concept - Elemental Forme: Pyro

From the album: Kaiso's sketches and stuff

I've always liked the idea of different forms within an RPG that the player can use. As for getting them to work is a different story. This is actually a redesign of a much older sketch I did. If you haven't guessed already, this design is heavily inspired by Flareon. This particular forme turns the player into a Flame Wizard and will increase their magic powers for this form dramatically and grant the player with power fire spells.

Concept - Title for my game

From the album: Kaiso's sketches and stuff

It took a little while to think of a good title for my game, but it took even longer to imagine how the logo of the game would look like. To be honest, I really do like how this came out. I wanted to make a title that would stand out, so I had one of the Ls be a quill to write onto the book behind the logo. I still need to add some color to it and make some slight edits, but I really like this one.
  7. Uh... I had forgotten all about this place. But, yeah, I'm back-ish. Lots of stuff happened, but let's just say that it's all good things and I'm at a place where I want to be. And I miss messing with RPG Maker.

Yeah; you've been gone a while, that's for certain.

Anyway, welcome back to the fringe, where over the edge you can see an Anarchist village, that's my home on the far southwestern edge. We're a friendly bunch, so come on by! Door's always open. lol

  8. For the first time in... Forever(?), I'm pretty excited for Halloween. ...Not that I'll be trick-or-treating. That would be a rather creepy thing for an old guy like me to do. =P I only need a couple of things then my costume will be complete.

Samhain for me will most likely be celebrated/observed, doing gamedev.

Where I currently live, most kids will likely be going elsewhere for celebration; I do live in the middle of nowhere where the houses are fairly far apart and the roads are mostly unpaved...

Halloween seems fun ^^ It's kinda sad we don't have Halloween's eve here where I live :/

  9. Bleh... Even after five years of working the graveyard shift, it still kicks my butt every time. My sleeping habits are messed up and find myself staying up into the mid to late noon. I don't like being deprived of sunlight and going to work feeling like a zombie and an unwashed potato.

I honestly sleep better during the day anyway.

Unwashed potato?! Love that phrase. Definitely going to have to use that in the future.

      Husband: Want to go out?

Me: Yeah, but I need to hop in the shower first. I feel like an unwashed potato.

      Husband: ....

Text or speech? What grasps you more?

In most games I find that voice acting doesn't grasp me more than actually reading the text. I will be fair and say that there are some great games that have some amazing voice acting, but a lot of games that have voice acting that's there for the sake of being there does turn me off a bit... I wish more games would have an option to turn off voice acting because either the character's voices doesn't match the character, or the voice actors try too hard and turns out to be more annoying than anything else. At least it'll give me something to riff on, but I digress. However, when there is voice acting, I like to have my subs on so I can see what the character is saying because of background noise in the game. There are times where I miss something important that an NPC was saying because there was so much background noise in the game, so those would be the types of games that I would prefer only text over voice acting. Overall, I'm sort of 50/50... There are games I like that I would prefer voice acting while others work best with only text. Not only that, I like speak out the voices of what I think they might sound in my head. It's more fun that way, I feel! Plus, I got in with this expectation of what the character would sound like before I hear them and either end up pleasantly surprised or disappointed... So, yeah, that's just my two cents.

    Maps from my project!

These are some nice looking maps. The sizes of the maps are pretty good. They're not too small, yet not too big and look pretty easy to navigate without getting lost. There is one little bit that looks a little weird to me. The second picture where you have the living room shown has shadows on the outsides of the walls to the right. Maybe that won't show when the game is running since it'll mostly be covered in black, but on the picture it still shows the shadows. Not sure if you were aware =P Either way, I like these maps and the tiles you chose for them!

FaceSets & Bust Ups! (Taking Vague Requests)

Ooh, these look really nice. I have to say that the bar scene is my favorite one. Too bad I don't have any characters that fit the description of what you are willing to draw, but I do like what I see!
  13. As much as I liked my little trio of fox pokemon as my avatar, I think it's time for a change. So uh... I changed my avatar to one of my characters that I drew a lot in High School.

    Event Stopped Working

Did you make sure there wasn't any other events in the path of the event you are working on? Sometimes that could cause that event to stop entirely and prevent it from doing the rest of its commands because it's trying to get to that spot that you set the event to go to. If there isn't, then there should be check box option in the Set Move Route command that you can tick on and off called "Skip if Cannot Move" that allows the event to skip movement commands if something is blocking its path. Or you can do what I like to do with a lot of my autorun cut scene events: you can set every event that's for a cut scene to make it so that other events can pass through them by ticking the Through check box on the event(s). Of course, I do this just in case a player gets to a place where they aren't suppose to be and they aren't stuck in between some events that the player isn't suppose to see/interact with.
  15. Did some poking around and found this on the Rpg Maker Forums: https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/level-up-sound-effect.78611/ The only problem with this is that it doesn't work with Yanfly's Level Up Aftermath plugin... But, if you aren't using that then this should work for you. I'd recommend reading through the thread to see how to get it to work properly as that it stumped me a few times trying to get it to work the first time.
  16. I still have a lot of work to do, but I think it's a good time to show off some story bits of chapter 0. ...Or, in this case, the whole thing. It's not entirely finished yet and there are still some bugs that need to be squashed. However, I'm quite happy with how it turned out regardless. I seem to enjoy making cutscenes look the best they can thanks to Galv's Camera plugin. The gameplay is every basic and I haven't gotten around to making any actions sequences, yet. This is mostly just to show off some bits of the beginning story. I might also try to get my topic back up again since I have some new stuff lined up, but I want to wait a bit longer just to make sure. Anyway, here's Chapter 0!

Newbie & Working on an RPG~ How about you?

Allo and enjoy your stay! I've been working on and off my project. I finished mapping out both chapters of a demo I'm working on and I'm almost done eventing chapter 0 of my game. Once I finish all of the eventing I'm gonna polish it up to make it my own. I'm actually pretty happy how the maps came out and how the first part of the game is turning out to be. But, still more work that needs to be done! Good luck with your project and don't be afraid to ask questions. Someone's bound to know something about whatever questions you got.
  18. Pro tip: Don't forget to assign your actors a class.

Why? Because I spent about a few hours trying to debug and rebuild my game because of some plugin error. After a bit of trial-and-error, it had came to my attention that I had some actors without classes. After I assigned them a class, the problem was gone. So, now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go over there to that corner and cry about my stupidity.

I do like MV, but there are little quirks that makes it really annoying to deal with at times. I still have to say the transfer from VX Ace to MV was a total nightmare. Thankfully I didn't lose my maps during the initial transfer.

    3. PhoenixSoul

      PhoenixSoul

Well, my low-end PC can't even RUN MV, so I won't ever know the nightmare, it seems...

Ah well...I like VX Ace, it works for me...

I've progressed way too far in my game to even consider transferring it to MV. Not worth the time, energy, or the hassle

3rd post: TP in menu show

The only other plugin I know that offers the TP that's in the menu would be Yanfly's Core Engine plugin: http://yanfly.moe/2015/10/09/yep-1-core-engine/ It's also updated to take advantage of 1.5.0's new plugin features. Just look for the Windows section in the plugin parameters and there should be a parameter called Menu TP Bar located at the bottom of that section. If I remember right, when you first install the plugin, it should be on by default. As for me, I have it disabled since my game doesn't call for the standard TP bar. I've dabbled into a bit of ruby and java script and as far as I'm aware there is no other way to convert one scripting language to another without completely rewriting the code into the language you need it to be. MV has been around for almost two years and there are plenty of plugins that are being constantly developed and released. I would highly suggested checking the RPG Maker web forums if you need to search for certain plugins if you haven't done so already: https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?forums/js-plugin-releases-rmmv.135/ Of course, the usual people like Yanfly, Galv, Hime and even MogHunter (Just to name a few) has made a ton of plugins to take advantage of. It wouldn't hurt to do a bit of looking around. Even newer scripters to the scene has been making a name for themselves so there's always something certain scripters haven't made yet.

    Player can't move after cutscene

Erase event will just erase the current event on the map, but it'll reappear once you reenter the map. What you want to do is set a self switch. You can do that by going to the Game Progression section in the event commands and select Control Self Switch and set it to A and have that turned on. Next, go up to the top and click the New Event Page to make a new page on the event. And in the conditions box on the right side on the new event page, click the check mark box and just leave the page blank. That will essentially "erase" the event. Well, more or less, it'll keep it from playing the autorun event. If you need an idea of how it would look like, here's a couple of pictures to help you out. Set stuff up on the first page and and then set up a self switch. On the next page, in the conditions area, just check the check mark box to have self switch A selected and just leave the page blank. Be sure not to have the trigger set to Autorun.

    Player can't move after cutscene

Can you provide a screen shot of what your event looks like? It could be as simply as setting a self switch once an autorun event has finished playing. Or, maybe you have a self switch set up and that event page has autorun selected.

    'Splain Your Username

The username I have now was when I was trying to come up with a name for my player character in Final Fantasy 14. At the time, I was sort of in the process of rewriting a story and I wanted to have a name that really meant something. So, to google I went and started typing out things and stuff that translated into Japanese. Soon enough, the word "reminiscence" crossed my mind since it was the title of the story I was writing at the time. So, I popped it into google and asked what it translated into and the word "Kaisō" was the result. I really liked the name and went with that as the first name of my character for Final Fantasy 14. The last name, though, was a bit tricky since I wasn't sure what would go good with the name... I tried out a bunch of random names, but none of them seemed to hit the mark for me. I'm not entirely sure how I came across the name, but at the time I was looking for a good translation for the word "brave" in some random language and came across the word "Ari" and thought, "That's the one!" and soon Kaiso Ari was born! To me, it meant "Brave Memory" in a rough translation of sorts and stuck with it since. Before that name, though, I've always gone under the name PyroFoxBoy... And yeah... I'm not very proud of that name, but it was the best I could come up with when you're young and dumb.

    Not quite dead yet.

I really need to stop putting things off and actually really getting to work. But, what can you do when life loves getting in your way of everything. Anyway, lots to talk about regarding progress. I've got some good news, though! I had just recently finished making all of the maps for Chapter 1! That means I can finally get around to eventing and hopefully pushing my first demo out the door. I'm also in the works of getting some art assets done. As of now, I'm only working on the title screen of my game. I would like to wait before I release my demo when I get my art stuff done first. I don't know how long that will be, but I'll feel better once I actually get it done. So uh... Screen shots and some videos! First, some screen shots: And now some videos. One showing off the new title screen that's a work in progress and one showing off some bit of fast travel. I'm actually pretty excited this time around that work is getting done once again. Without having to worry about maps (at least for now) I can finally focus on the actual game itself. I don't have a time frame on when I plan on showcasing some more stuff or when I plan on releasing the actual first full demo. For now, this is what I have.

    Not quite dead yet.

That book is a save point, yeah. As for the ravaged town, you can say that a Charizard has been there. Or some kind of divine beast with the capability of leveling towns. =P

RPG maker mv actor wont join party

A screen shot would be nice to help analyze the problem, but I think I get what you're problem is and I went ahead to test this out and it seems to work fine on my end. Did you make sure that you didn't already have 4 members in your party? If you do 4 party members already in the party the newest party member should show up under the fourth member of the party. You can find him/her if you select a command like Status or Equipment and if you scroll down all the way to the bottom you should find them. If you want him/her to be an active party member, you're gonna have to use the Formation command within the menu if you want to use them. Also make sure you are using the "Change Party Member" event and then choose to add or remove them. And also, once a party member has been added, you cannot add the same actor unless you have an event to remove that actor to re-add them.
