2) Become like me, who is a major fan of a certain jRPG franchise, and who will ignore/forgive all gameplay and other element shortcomings because why the fuck not, I just want more games from the series. = )

I still think Daggerfall was the best Elder Scrolls game. Every game after that was ugly and dumbed down. Heck I even kinda felt Arena was more charming in it's own way compared to the newer ones despite being way too clunky and primitive gameplay wise.

Heheh Daggerfall..? If you like your fantasy as generic as it gets, your exploration Minecraft by way of the prairies, and your 'wenchs' all double F cup then yeah there's a lot of appeal to it.
