So I browsed to see if anything was up here already, and so here is my presentation. It sounds simple in my head, but I'm not a java scripter. I've broken it down intto steps, if someone wants to tackle a step at a time and then we can post the results in this thread. IF this sound interesting but any part seems to big to tackle just for funsies, I'd be willing to negotiate compensation. Step 1 Controlling all actions in a battle. Change Enemy actions IN battle to allow the player to pick them. --- Right now, the AI picks from the list. It seems simple enough to just copy and paste the classes that control player input actor actions into where the scripts grab the current enemy actions. But I'm dumb so maybe I'm asking a lot. Step 2 Actor Vs Actor Allow an actor to be placed where the to be called instead of an Enemy so you have an actor vs actor battle. //Step 2 and 1 effectively give you the ability for PVP hotseat between two players. Step 3 Allow PVP to be turned on and off by plugin command. Allowing for PVE and PVP Step 4 Being able to export and import in deployed game So I create a character at my house in the game. email the file to myself. Go over my friends house, load it up and PVP head to head. Step 5 Going online This is probably the point at which I stop. But the end goal of the game, would be for two players to be able to p2p connect and the game share the battle information and actors information so you can do PVP in battle. Not a true MMO, as its just battling against one other person a la pokemon.

The Timed Challenge The Goal of My Challenges: To give new and long time devs a short project to stretch their creative muscles on. I want you to actually FINISH a game and have it in your portfolio. The Theme of the Timed Challenge: Firstly: the game has to FINISH within 30 minutes. It can end earlier, but a Victory/Failure condition must occur at the 30 minute mark. Secondly: The game must feature some kind of timer - up to you what that means. The Rules: You can use the built in timer in MV, or modify it anyway you want. YOU CANNOT use someone else's timer plugin or event. Anything to do with the timer, must be done by you through eventing or coding. Must be a new project started and finished within the time scope of the project. Number of devs on 1 project is limited to 1. Not to say you can't get advice/critques from other people before turn in day.) All resources, plugins etc used in the project must respect terms of use, but you may use anything you can pull together. I'll be posting this contest in number of locales; however, I will manage the contest from a discord server. https://discord.gg/rZPyy4y The Timing: February 17th, contest first posted; Updates and changes to the parameters expected until contest start date. March 5th, 12AM GMT: Contest starts. March ,18th 1145PM GMT: Contest Ends. All games must be linked and shared on this thread by this time. March 23, Judging will finalized and results posted here. The Judging: I'll be judging. Obviously it will mostly be my personal subjectivity - but I'll try to keep it as objective as possible. I will play the game for up to 30 minutes, or until a game crashing bug. There will be a total of 50 points. Use of Timer (15 points) - creativity, design, completion Thematic elements (10 points) - How unique was your vision?, How cohesive were the game elements in relation to the theme of the game? Execution (10 points) - Bugs, spelling/grammar, game balance Overall fun (15 points) - how driven was I to finish your game Single tier bonus points (up to 5 total) - Art, music, eventing, etc - did any of these one elements stand out and if so bonus points. This can't take your score over 50. The Prizes: I'd like to have more prizes; however am limited by own resources. I have a couple of people who said they'd donate to the cause. If you want to help out, PM me and let me know. Officially, the winners and prizes will be rewarded as follows. There will be 4 winners total; Only one unique winner per category. All top prizes will be shown on my stream separate from my judging. (Don't get too excited, my stream has a pretty low audience.) Overall (wins $20.00 worth of RPG Maker resources of their choice) - Grand Prize winner with the highest objective score Honorable Runner up ($10.00 worth of RPG Maker resources of their choice) - Second place winner with the second highest score Best Story - (Choose one of the following game keys) goes to the most moving or creative story. Best Art - (Choose one of the following game keys) the standout for non-map art of the game, (battlers, character design, icons, etc) FAQ: Can I enter after the start time? Absolutely! As long as you start and finish your game within the parameters, your entry will be allowed. Please leave a comment here so we have an idea how big this has gotten! More exciting that way! Do we have to make a game within 30 minutes? --The length of the game should be capped at 30 minutes. The game can have a victory condition or failure condition that is less than 30 minutes if you like, but the game itself should last no more than 30 minutes as per the rules. --The time it takes you to dev it merely has to be within the two weeks. You can take 1 hour, 10 minutes, 2 weeks. Put as much love and work into that 30 minute game as you want. Does the game have to contain a timer? Is the timer the main theme? -- Yes. How prominent the timer is in your game is up to you. Where its located - also up to you. BUT the game must feature a timer. AND 15 points of the judging will be based on your use of the timer. Can I use other people's resources? -- As long as they are free to use and ARE NOT timer related. Is this a commercial project? -- umm...? I don't think so? Does contest = commercial? If you plan on selling your entry or using it as part of a commercial project I guess it would, but otherwise I think you're ok on terms of use for non-commercial resources. Don't know exactly. Maybe someone else can clarify for us. This contest brought to you buy Fusegu Productions and Gamers Incoming - if the mods will allow it here are the links.

I've updated the thread to reflect changes and answer the questions as much as possible. The Contest starts this weekend (March 5th). You'll need this link to participate as the most major change is I'm moving hosting to a Discord Server, as its more global and doesn't lock me in at just RMC, as much as I love the people here. https://discord.gg/rZPyy4y

And the RESULTS~! Brief Commentary, then to the scores and prizes. To start, I was surprised. The scoring system wasn't truly important with only two entries, but I still followed it as I gave my decision making weight. Objectively speaking, Retnuh's use of map, theme, events, and customizations were truly impressive and so I had to tick those boxes. Mushinronja's game, to my way of thinking was more fun. I enjoyed the lore and setting a great deal. Both games suffered from balancing issues and trying to cram that one map as full as possible. Both compensated for lack of multiple maps by way of size. The games were so different though, I wish we had more entries to see all the myriad of possibilities the challenge could have formed. Placement and Scoring: Retnuh and 12: 64 Mushinronja and Fort Amreldo: 60 Best Map: Retnuh Best Story: Mushinronja I'll get up with you on discord. Let me know what you want for your prizes and we'll arrange it. Thank you both for your entries. By Monday of next week I'm going to be hosting another challenge. The consistent them between both will be time and limitations. I'm going to host another challenge that is SHORT and should let you stretch your muscles without taking away from your other projects. Look forward to seeing you there. Also I'll be posting the stream video to my YT channel when I get the chance. So if you didn't see the contest entries you'll be able to check them out.

The One Map Challenge The Basics: I wanted to create a contest targeted at, but not exclusive to new rpg maker devs. We've all been there: our first project... we have no organization, we have a plan that's too ambitious, and we have no idea where or how to start, but we do it anyways. By limiting ourselves to one map, the challenge will force FOCUS. Something a new dev desperately needs. Further, more experienced devs might find the restriction requires them to really stretch those creative muscles to make something interesting. On to the rules! The Rules: Must use 1 map (no size limit). This map will be one of the major judging points and can not just be a repository for events (Looking at you VN creators). Must be a new project started and finished within the time scope of the project. Number of devs on 1 project is limited to 1. Not to say you can't get advice/critques from other people before turn in day.) All resources, plugins etc used in the project must respect terms of use, but you may use anything you can pull together. I'll be posting this contest in number of locales; however, it will be managed from this forum. You must be a member of RMC to participate. The Timing: January 24th, contest first posted; Updates and changes to the parameters expected until contest start date. January 29th, 12AM GMT: Contest starts. February 11th, 1130PM GMT: Contest Ends. All games must be linked and shared on this thread by this time. February 25th, Judging will finalized and results posted here. The Judging: I'll be judging. Obviously it will mostly be my personal subjectivity - but I'll try to keep it as objective as possible. I will play the game for up to 1 hour, or until a game crashing bug. There will be a total of 60 points. Use of Map (20 points) - creativity, design, completion Thematic elements (10 points) - How unique was your vision?, How cohesive were the game elements in relation to the theme of the game? Execution (15 points) - Bugs, spelling/grammar, game balance Overall fun (15 points) - how driven was I to finish your game Single tier bonus points (up to 10 total) - Art, music, eventing, etc - did any of these one elements stand out and if so bonus points. Best Art - (Choose one of the following game keys) the standout for non-map art of the game, (battlers, character design, icons, etc) Game Keys Lost Planet 3 - Complete Pack Resident Evil Revelations Resident Evil Revelations 2 - Episode 1: Penal Colony Resident Evil 4 DMC: Devil May Cry DMC: Devil May Cry: Vergils Downfall DLC Devil may Cry 4: Special Edition Crazy Plant Shop Ludwig Sokobon Type:Rider: Lilly Looking Through Galcon Legends FAQ: Can I enter after the start time? Absolutely! As long as you start and finish your game within the parameters, your entry will be allowed. Please leave a comment here so we have an idea how big this has gotten! More exciting that way! Does the battle screen count as a map? No, the combat screen DOES NOT count as an additional map as that is a traditional aspect of JRPG and RPG Maker. This contest brought to you buy Fusegu Productions and Gamers Incoming - if the mods will allow it here are the links.

http://twitch.tv/fuseguno I'll be streaming the entries and juding at 1PM EST (GMT-5) today and tomorrow. Hope to see you there. I'll post the results later this week.

7 Hours left give or take. 3 Entries so far if I counted right. CRUNCH TIME!
-
Just over 48 hours left. We have 2 official submissions. I've spoken to several other people who seem like they'll be done on time. Who will win!?!?! Only time will tell. I hope you find the map to your victory~!
-
SOOOO Just in case you were wondering the contest did officially start on time! Ganbatte nye! And all participants were directed here, so hopefully RMC will gain a couple of extra members as well. Also had a FAQ I'll add to first post: No the combat screen DOES NOT count as an additional map as that is a traditional aspect of JRPG and RPG Maker.

I can't seem to get the recipes to show up in the crafting log. Specifically the kyanpu crafting screen will open; however there are no crafting options there, even though I did event them in. Just a "blank" option and then when you click that game crash. Can someone pick out what I'm doing wrong? Recipes: [ null, { "ID": 101, "Name": "Ha Tento", "IconIndex": 1, "Result": [{"Type":"item","ID":81,"Amount":1}], "Requires":[{"Type":"item","ID":53,"Amount":20},{"Type":"item","ID":26,"Amount":5}], "Discipline": 1, "Category": [], "XP": 50, "LevelReq": 1, "Learned": "command" }, { "ID": 102, "Name": "Kyanpu no Hi", "IconIndex": 64, "Result": [{"Type":"item","ID":82,"Amount":1}], "Requires":[{"Type":"item","ID":53,"Amount":5},{"Type":"item","ID":26,"Amount":3},{"Type":"item","ID":27,"Amount":3}], "Discipline": 1, "Category": [], "XP": 50, "LevelReq": 1, "Learned": "command" } ] Disciplines [ null, { "ID": 1, "Name": "Kyanpu", "IconID": 0, "ExpFormula": "100*level", "MaxLevel":5, "Categories": [], "Background": "" }, { "ID": 2, "Name": "Cooking", "IconID": 0, "ExpFormula": "100*level", "MaxLevel": 5, "Categories": ["Ryori"], "Background":"" } ]

Messing around with the Yanfly Row Formation and I'm trying to see if I'm missing something or if there is some custom code I'm missing OR SOMETHING. I'm trying to simulate ranges. I put number of rows to be 5. SO <-(-5)--(-4)--(-3)--(-2)--(-1)--(1)--(2)--(3)--(4)--(5)--> I want skills and weapons to have a "distance" or number of rows they can reach. So melee could only attack X +/- 1 row. Short +-2 rows, Medium > 2 rows; so on and so forth. I get I can lock abilities into certain rows, but that doesn't stop someone in row three from meleeing someone in row -3. SO my question is, am I trying to do something that the plug in just can't do? Is there a creative way to do what I'm trying to do? I can't think my head around it, though to be fair I keep trying to crack this egg at midnight ish... Not my highest brain powered moments. EDIT::I think I found part of my answer in the Target Core; however, I'm still having trouble with this bit: <Custom Target Eval> for (var i = 0; i < foes.aliveMembers().length; ++i) { var member = foes.aliveMembers(); if (member.level % 3 === 0) targets.push(member); } </Custom Target Eval> The ‘targets’ variable is an array that determines which are the targets to be used during the selection process. Push the desired targets into the ‘targets’ array.
