  1. That's a good decision. It's important to limit the scope of your project to what you can realistically accomplish given the circumstances. We all want nice bells and whistles for games we make, but it's not always practical and it's sad to drop a project because it blew out of proportion rather than managing your resources and time to ship out a finished product.

    Thank you. Animation is quite fun to do, but I'm afraid I'm tied up with some problems with RL at the moment so I have to delay the ghost sprite. Kaya also insisted I rest during the Christmas Holidays so I did. I will get back to it as soon as I am done settling things RL. I do find it hard to do any sort of art when I'm distracted like this. Your portraits are quite lovely and I'm glad you're helping out to make the game as well. I have absolutely no complaints with how your work turned out. As for the artwork you should just go ahead and do it. The worst that can happen is that you get a little better at something you're not familiar with!

    Here's what I'm working on next. Kayako wanted a ghost so I worked on this one for most of the afternoon. She had a lot of frilly clothes things which are a bit hard to replicate with low pixel counts. I'll try to get some basic animations for her done today and update this post with what I finish. I used about twice more colors for shading here. The ghostly swirl behind her might be added on another layer. It will definitely be included in her idle animation. Ghost Monster Girl Reference: Ghost Monster Girl Sprite Close-up: Sprites: Base Frames: Idle: Item/Magic Use: Hit/Damaged: Update: The idle animation is taking awhile because I want to try for a floaty animation for the hair and the clothes. Right now I'm animating two separate locks of hair before going for the main mass of hair and then the skirt. I'm also trying to figure out how to animate the ghost fire behind her with only 4 frames without making it look too strange. I also want to incorporate the ghost fire into her attack animation. Unlike the ghoul which has wide ranges of motions, I want the ghost to have more conservative movements so that she'll provide some good contrast when put beside the ghoul in the game. Kayako demanded that I take a break yesterday so I'll catch this up in the next couple of days~
  4. What significance does fishing have? How does it affect the overall game? Is it hard to get to the fishing spots or can you visit many spots early in the game?
  5. I just started creating sprites to help my friend out in her game. I've yet to install the scripts for RPG maker so I can test them myself (I'll get her to help me on that later). I started out with a Ghoul and I worked on it for about 2-3 days (maybe 16 hours total) and I'd like some opinions on it since I'm very new to making sprites (but not drawing, it used to be a hobby of mine). Is there a guide sheet I can use as a layer to know where to place the sprites more accurately?: And please let me know what I can do to improve on these. I know there are some proportion issues too. It's a very rushed sheet but I'll go back on it to see what can be done to make it better. I'm working on a Ghost Monster girl now though her hair is giving me some trouble! (Missing animations were not needed in the game yet so there are blank rows) Monster Girl Ghoul Reference: And while I'm here and struggling with the ghost girl's hair, I'll post up the face I made for her. Reference: Update: Here's the first pass on the full body sprite (minus ghostly swirls in the background).     Is the dash animation supposed to be looped or a one time sequence and then held on the last frame? Taking a break for now but I'll try to get another animation done later.

    Here's a update. It's a bit rushed but I can tweak it a bit more later. I was told that the sprite was not close to the style that was used in the game and that's correct. I just did what I could to copy the original image and turn it into a sprite and since it was so slender there was no room for an outline like with Holder's sprites that are used in the game so: + = More feedback would be appreciated so I can start animating it. It's really hard working with sprites and just 4 frames. Maybe I'm just not used to it yet. I wanted a Mai Shiranui type bounce for the idl position because of her default pose but I can't do the left and right bobbing with 4 frames so it's just up and down. Might go back and improve the breast bounce later. I'll just post the animations here as I finish them. Need to soldier through it to get some basic animations done today. Animations: Idle: Attack (Placeholder for now): Dash: Magic/Item Use: Getting Hit: Low HP/Status Effect: Defeat Animation: Base Frames: Forward Dash Defeated: Hit: Also made her a little sexier around the waist by shaving off a few pixels. Animations are rough but I'm trying to get it done quickly for now just so I can have a sheet that works. You can quickly rearrange the Magic/Item animation to create an attack animation (just need to edit the hair to move in a different direction) but I intend to give her a different attack animation sequence. I'll just put it here since it's a good example of economic animation if you're rushing to finish a sprite. Reverse Magic/Item animation into Attack Animation: Already tired and some of them need fixing, but almost done~

    Kayako once mentioned to me that she'd like to include zombies someday and she showed me a monster girl ghoul that she was planning to turn into one. I haven't done art in a long time and my coloring has always been quite bad, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Before I proceed with the rest of the sprite though I'd like to know if the colors are alright or if it's really bad. I've only edited sprites and I never really made one from scratch. Here's the sprite and a slightly zoomed in version (not animated yet): This is the image the sprite is based on (Ghoul Monster Girl): Let me know what you think then I can make a final pass on it before animating it (I already drew it in pieces. The head, body, arms and legs are on separate layers ). I'm thinking I can make her swing her left arm for the basic attack and maybe both arms for a more powerful attack animation.     If anyone is interested in having a look at the first hour of gameplay for Corruption of Laetitia (for this version) I have uploaded an HD video of it on Youtube. The Slime Queen fight took slightly longer than it was supposed to because I thought some old mechanics were still in place. The fight has already been updated since the last time I played it. I've picked Knight in previous versions of the game but I picked Mage this time around.
