After battling a cold and art block, I managed to get some progress done on Kamikakushi. It was a bit jarring for Yasu to not have face graphics in the True End, so I fixed that. (Not perfect, but what can you do)
I still have about 4-3% more to finish? I should think about how to combine one idea I had with an idea a playtester suggested to me...

*reading a story about fairies and the MC and her fiance breaks 5 of the 8-or-so fairy rules of etiquette*
I'm sorry MC-chan but at this point, you kinda deserve this.
-
Oh dear. Honestly I am not sure what most fairies have could be described as 'etiquette' (outside of those in the Seelie court anyway, bunch of stuck up types always trying to one up each other with silly political games if you ask me), but we do have more then a few unwritten rules we tend to take very seriously. Plus it's not like fairies respect most humans very much in the first place, so offending a fairy isn't too hard. Some will just be begging for an excuse to mess with you.
Generally though many fairies won't mess with you to much if you amuse them. Just keep in mind: The worst thing you can do, the absolute worst, the swiftest way to annoy a fairy, is to ruin their fun. And keep in mind that annoyed fairies tend to find ways of having fun anyway, mostly at the expense of the one who annoyed them.

"Where'd the meow-meow go?" my two year old cousin asked me where my cat wandered off to.
Ohhhh, my heart melted.

Hehe, cute little tikes tend to do that don't they?
But one has to be careful around human children, they are more dangerous then they seem. Without all the muck adult humans tend to believe clouding their brain as much, they are a lot more competent. They can see things adults ignore, take actions they wouldn't think of. A human child has been the downfall of many a fairy after all.

YES!!! FINALLY GOT THE CHASE CODE WORKING!
Now to wrap up the other 5% and Kamikakushi is 100% done.

Goodness, the fae folk are terrifying. There's a lot of potential for horror games there in those stories...

There is a saying I am fond of, and it goes something like this:
"Fairies are wonderful. They provoke wonder.
Fairies are marvelous. They cause marvels.
Fairies are fantastic. They create fantasies.
Fairies are glamorous. They project glamour.
Fairies are enchanting. They weave enchantment.
Fairies are terrific. They beget terror.
The thing about words is that meanings can twist just like a snake, and if you want to find snakes look for them behind words that have changed their meaning.
No one ever said fairies are nice."Hehe, I wonder what you will think of the game I am working on? It's all about playing with fairies like me! It's not really a horror game exactly, but it's not really not a horror game either. And who knows, maybe I can sneak in a little magic to really draw you in. Maybe I should send you an early version! I can't wait to play with you! Come on! It will be fun! *grins a bit too widely and giggles* For me at least...

Boog... I'm drawing a blank when it comes to how to revise one doll puzzle in game. I don't want to axe it, but I can't think of any ideas that hasn't been done before or make sense with the setting (1940's Japan) and fit the whole Japanese mythology theme.

@Kayzee the clue to the doll puzzle was in the doll room next to the large creepy doll. Man, I really need to make that more noticeable...
Though, I have to admit... In its current stage, it's pretty obscure and just says the dates WHEN they were killed as a clue instead of describing the murdered kid.
EDIT Aaaaaaand, done. Now, the diary describes the murdered kids (with the doll flavor text to match).

Damn... I'm still getting permalocked onto the bad end.
How am I gonna fix the code here...

I can DM you the Dropbox link to my current project (not finished yet). I tried every tutorial on Ao Oni style chase sequences out there and none of them help with the chaser insta-spawning on top of the player. I'm at my wit's end...

Tried doing a basic timeline for my game and ended up giving myself a migraine from trying to figure out the math.
That's what happens when you have such a poor constitution for math.
Not as bad as HP Lovecraft, but still... -

I can't help but wonder if there is any practical solution to the problem of online harassment... Trying to police the harassers just isn't a very effective solution.Though I suspect It would help a lot if people would just stop using irresponsible social media sites and kept themselves away form having to engage with destructive communities. It's far far too easy for this kind of stuff to happen and to grow out of control because the net as it is structured right now and the way people tend to use it puts way way too much power in the hands of harassers.
-
Indeed, @Kayzee. I mean, look at what Nintendo is doing. It's Capitol Extortion. But they can (sort of) get away with it, unless their targets are prepared to fight back. You wanna talk about too much power, take a look at the government and what they're able to do with social media data. That part is slowly getting worse but they're covering it up (not very well mind you unless you're one of the many sheeple like the dolts I live with and live around).
That's why I suggested Bitchute, Steemit and Gab.

Whelp. Tumblr's gone Infinity War. At least you can still find me here and on my deviantArt, Pixiv and Twitter accounts.

@TobiObito4ever, @Kayzee, feast your eyes on the following:
Steemit - Deplatformed Social SiteBitchute - Deplatformed Video Sharing Service
Gab - The Better Twitter (and Free Speech)
I'm on all three, but getting onto Steemit does require some hoops to jump through, and time unless you can buy in off the bat since it is a blockchain thing. Now, let us flourish on these better sites. In the deep end, ladies!

Hm, hm, hm... How to get these chase sequences up and running properly...
-
At least it can be done. There is at least one iteration of RM that wouldn't allow a chase scene (or even a follow scene) at all, or not to my knowledge anyway...

Been mentally debating whether or not to give Ueno and Yamazawa face graphics in Kamikakushi.
It's not like they have too significant of roles, except accidentally kicking the entire plot off. Their first names aren't even mentioned in game.

A showing of Hocus Pocus with the original dress Bette Midler wore on display as an exhibit?! In MY hometown?!

Never really saw that movie, I thought it looked kinda bad at the time. I think the book was better anyway, I mean did they even try and adapt it?

One of these days, I *REALLY* have to make a blog for our games' studio. It gets a bit tiring making blogs for each and every game, hahaha...

Was flipping through scary stories for inspiration and by sheer coincidence, I stumble upon the real life version of the Kaminaga Shrine.
Spooky! (ΟΔΟ;)
-
After lots of consideration, I probably won't include Mefis's human form in game (lack of sprites and no immediate need for it).
But for those of you curious, the closest I can get to it is this V

Mokumokuren: when paper sliding doors/windows go damaged for so long, it is possible for them to become this youkai. While creepy, these youkai are relatively harmless and are usually signs of a greater youkai infestation.

An old faded sign outside the Kaminaga Shrine...

Kanashibari: the Japanese term for sleep paralysis, a phenomenon when REM sleep overlaps with waking consciousness. The victim’s body is still paralyzed in sleep, but the eyes are open and the mind is half-awake; and the real and dream worlds mix together.
One of the many deaths of Kamikakushi's protagonist, Yasu...
