Heavily revising some dialogue in game. Some of the old dialogue is cheesy and/or portrays mental illnesses incorrectly/in a negative light... That's actually the LAST thing I want. Hopefully, the new dialogue is much better.
-
Decided to revise some of the Flavor Text in several areas of the main story of my current project. It was focusing too much on the walking spoiler character instead of our MC, Hotaru.
The walking spoiler character won't be relevant until his story arc (post-game). That was my mistake. ^^;
-
Currently juggling two projects at once.
But I do enjoy letting my creativity out in my friend's yuri danmaku game. From ethereal plains to spooky haunted areas, it hasn't been terribly boring.
-
After a seemingly long hiatus for the holidays, I managed to work a tiny bit on my project. Just some parts of the post-game story; I'm not sure how I plan to implement certain puzzles for the main story yet.

Wow. Just... wow. So the official RPG Maker store retorts to stealing resources from other material sites and claims it as their own?
I don't think I'll be buying any more stuff from them again...
-
It is sad, sad that everyone buys into this whole resource pack scam, and you feel surprised when it turns out people are taking advantage of the system to make a quick buck. Do we even have any idea who is making these things? How many of any of them are just simple edits of other ones, or the RTP, or stuff ripped form some game? How many are just packaged and sold without any way to tell?
You know what's kind of funny though? This is a problem all of the legitimate artists selling resources created for themselves. No really. If they stuck to commissions and patreon, they could make money off their artistic skills fine. Instead they choose to make the art it's self a product they could package up and sell in cute little 'packs'. Only when the art is the product rather then the artist's time and effort, there is suddenly no reason to respect the artist's time and effort is there? Nor can one browse an artist's works and gain an appreciation (or lack thereof) for them because everything is behind a paywall. Heck how many of these packs even pay attention to the artist?
I am not saying that resources should always be 100% free or anything dumb like that, but I am saying that neatly packing them up and selling them like they are products made in a factory makes the whole thing seem like a cynical way to make a quick buck and is really really easy to abuse.

I may look calm, but I'm trying not to have a panic attack because of this NN crisis. My future as a game dev is at stake here.
-
Oh right. Keep forgetting that's a thing. Losing neutrality would suck, but I'm sure you could find a way forward if it's something you really want. So breathe. Panicking won't help anything.
I'm just happy Alabama didn't elect a Bible thumping homophobic pedophile as Senator last night. Progress!
-
-
Personally I still think the whole Net Neutrality thing is waaaaay overblown. Don't get me wrong I think the idea of big isps charging special premiums for things is really really dumb, but seriously do you really think the net is going to instantly turn to shit and just go away? It's worth fighting, but it' not worth panicking or becoming suicidal over.

I consider myself a patient woman, but even my patience has limits.

What's the bloody point of giving someone advice if they're not going to take it?
-
Hmm.. I wonder... Straight whiskey might be too harsh, but chase it with that ginger ale you might be okay. Just stop before you reach the point where you'll have a hangover. You'd probably be better off with something other than whiskey. Whiskey tends to put people in fighting moods. You may use the person's face as your stress relief punching bag

Blegh.... Social anxiety is the absolute worst.
-
I guess I'm harder to scare when it comes to horror movies/games because my fears are a bit more abstract than a simple stringy-haired ghost girl or jumpscare.
No, I fear things like the inevitability of death, the possibility of nuclear war and the extinction of humanity. Deep things like that.
Of course, in the off event of a nuclear fallout, I'd be more than prepared to kill a bunch of Radroaches.
-
I would enjoy a zombie Apocalypse far more than I should

Most people fear death and everyone should fear nuclear war and mankind's extinction. If the last two aren't a concern for you, then you haven't been paying attention. (Or you truly don't care if you live or die.)
That being said, people don't necessarily enjoy reading or watching or playing stories about such things. I love a good slasher movie just as much as I love stories about demonic possession or apocalypses.

*gives you a big o' hug*
I know how it is to be eccentric or creepy. I just decided long ago to embrace my inner 'otherness', all the things that make me a fairy. Let some silly humans think of me as eccentric or creepy I say! I have met lots of people who understand and appreciate me, and a for anyone else.
*grins a little too wide and giggles in an eerie way*
If they make me out to be a creep, I might a well be one. <3

Not having ideas sucks. Having ideas but no motivation to do anything sucks even MORE.

Guilt-tripping someone for being in a healthy relationship just because one of the partners broke up with you isn't a healthy way to spend your time.
Please, make like Elsa and let it friggin' go.

Tobi, it seems to me like you are letting this thing twist your heart into knots. Maybe you just need to vent and are otherwise fine, but it seems like this is really bothering you. I don't know and can't know the real situation, but what glimpses I see paints a few possible pictures that aren't very pretty. Call me a worry wort, but I think this is a train wreck waiting to happen.
Cause here's the thing: If they are trying to manipulate you, it might be working. Regardless if you react with guilt or anger, aren't you letting them meddle with your life too much? They could be trying to guilt trip you, or they could be trying to make you angry and drive a wedge in your life that they can exploit. Hating someone after all isn't too different from loving them really. If they are on the attack like that, they are setting the pace of your interactions. If they are that insistent, you might end up needing to either totally ignore them or destroy them utterly.
-
This person has a history of being.... a little too clingy with her lovers. She was in a toxic relationship with a girl who didn't give a flying fuck about her well-being.
And then she had a crush on my (now) girlfriend. My girlfriend had to turn down her affections, so she turned to the person she was currently dating: me.
And people wonder why I have anxiety-issues and constant stomach problems.
-
-
Let me make it abundantly clear: threatening suicide to prevent your partner from leaving you is not romantic; it is EMOTIONAL ABUSE, plain and simple.
This is the kind of BS that leaves people nervous wrecks with trust issues. I should know; I've been there.
-
@TobiObito4ever- Sounds like a charming gent...

Having gone through it once, I hope if you ever find yourself in a similar predicament, you get the hell outta there as quickly as you can.
If you don't I'll punch you in the head until you learn

-
@lonequeso Thank you for your concern. I long left that relationship.
I'm with someone who's a lot better than that. She's also working on a project of her own that I help with.

I write down the ideas for the kinda feel I want for my projects. The end result doesn't ALWAYS have to be the same, but close enough.
Example: "Hel's Theme: Creepy cute. Kind of an eccentric feel fitting for a perky goth girl."
"Saga's Library theme: mysterious and a bit sad. How tragic must it be to have all the knowledge of the world and not have anyone to share it with..."
-
Mofport: kind of a cyber-ish Persona-sounding feel. Too bad they don't sell Fsteaks.
Mara's Theme: A mysterious, cool sci-fi theme. Maybe some chiptune? I imagine it sounding a bit like Peridot's theme.
Ran's theme: Cute, but unsettling. If you drop your guard around her, you'll be sleeping with the fishes.
Scott Battle: Sci-fi, electronic kinda feel. Not like Daft Punk or Eurobeat, but something that screams "mad scientist".
Mizuko Battle: Japanese. A graceful but deadly kind of feel. Sounds like it wouldn't be out of place in Okami.
-
Suzaku's battle theme: Technically, this is really Angrboda you are battling; Suzaku is not the first girl she possessed. A powerful, elegant theme fitting for a grand witch, similar to this. This spirit never forgives and she never forgets a grudge.
-
Not like this? Hehe...

Aaah, so many video games coming out. Which ones do I play first?! @.@
It'd be nice to take some time off from my project for a little while. (Art block ^^;)

Sims brings back memories. They don't have pets yet? Rofl! That it priceless. When it first came out long ago on PC, EA keeping pushing out more and more expansion packs. One of which was pets. I see they're pulling the same trick on your generation. Lolz! I grew out of the Sims, but I wouldn't buy it out of sheer spite for that. Go with the horror game. EA can suck it.

How fitting that my brother and I saw a black cat on our porch the day before Halloween.
It wasn't OUR black cat, though (she has white splotches on her chest and tail); it was a stray.
-
Mom and Dad: Aaaaaah! IT is so scary!
Me: ... Your screaming is scarier.-
Yeah, the ending sucked. It was good up until then. I hope they don't go that route with this one. Granted it will look a lot better w/ CGI, but still kinda lame. If they can pull off the ending in the book, that'd be cool, but they already changed how the kids beat Pennywise in this one so I'm not too optimistic. I'm fine with the fact that they just kicked the crap out of It though.
-
In truth, the fact that Pennywise (I had forgotten the antagonist's name) turned out to be just a big spider, and not some warped and twisted demonic creature that looks like the amalgamation of the worst nightmares of every child, that was the mood kill. Even in CGI, it would not impress me that much more.
Fact is, they got LAZY.
-
CGI would be like putting lipstick on a pig, but the spider was just so cheesy looking. They didn't get lazy. They just couldn't really find a good way to translate the way it happens in the book. I never read the book, but this is essentially how it goes from what I've read about reading the book. It's body exists on a different plane. To actually kill the thing the protagonists have to perform some ritual to pull it to our realm (or enter It's. Don't remember which).
That's a whole 'nother thing they'd have to fit into an already very long movie (actually minis series originally) and pull it off well enough not make the audience go "wtf was that supposed to be?' So as cheesy as the spider was, it was likely the better option at the time. Now that the producers can focus more on the story, they may be able to give the movie the proper ending it deserves.

"Your Sim can also spay, un-spay, neuter, and un-neuter pets as well."
Maxis, please. I've worked with animals long enough to know it's physically impossible to un-neuter/un-spay an animal. I guess you can chalk it up to "MAGIC!", but still...
-
Gah, stress is murder on my stomach...

-
Phew... Glad this stupid drama is over. Back to doing what I do best: writing and playing horror games!
-
Honestly, why can't DeviantArt clean up their act and actually *DO* their job? If my friend commits suicide because of a cyberbully, her blood will be on their hands.
-
Truth be told, I actually like playing horror games especially in the wee hours of night. (But I can't play any of those first person games; they make me violently motionsick.)
Unfortunately, Dad wasn't too thrilled with my screaming when I was playing Close Your Eyes at 3 AM. Oops.
-
@Kayzee I heard there was one horror game that uses your own fear against you. It detects your heart rate and such. Have a fear of the dark? Have fun traversing the maps in total darkness.
I don't know if it's out yet or not. *shrug*

Well I for one find it hard to be afraid of something that I know can't truly harm me or cause any pain, so I doubt it would work on me. Then again, there is a certain amount of tension when you are vulnerable in some games, especially if death has some bite to it. Minecraft, for example, does a good job of making you light your way carefully through the dark depths of the earth, keeping your eyes and ears ready for any hint of attack. The dark is not safe, you know it's not safe, a slip up could mean dying and losing everything you have on you. Any unexpected sound can make you jump. I wouldn't call it fear exactly, but it's a reasonable substitute.

Games with customization options are really cool.
Even after I spend hours coming up with a design and a name for a character...
-
This might be depression speaking, but MoS just isn't as fun to work on these days.
Probably because the post-apocalyptic situation in the fictional world of Hestria mirrors the soon-to-be situation in my country. It's tragically ironic in hindsight. I never intended for it to turn out like this.

-
A lot of projects sorta die off as you work on them. It's pretty common to lose passion, and inspiration. I suspect the mortality rate for RPG maker projects is in the high 90th% percentile; but I still recommend sticking with it if you can. I've worked on my current, non-RPG Maker project almost every day for what is approaching a year now. If you can grin and bear it, see what a day or two of working through misery is like. It could just be a rough patch and you find inspiration on the other side.

Memory of Saga has been in development for well over 2 years now. At most, it's about 20-30% done (story and map-wise).
Over the two years, it kinda became my way to vent. Another project in dev hell is also kinda a "vent" project, but also one with a narrative: the effect divorce has on children.
To describe that project with a quote: If one stays stuck in the past, dreams can turn to nightmares fast
