True, but there's this thing called a 'criticism spiral' that most tend to avoid, and for good reason; it leads nowhere good and often times, it leads to tremendous depression. 

I think that also at least partly happens because of the lack of self criticism though. Without a good amount of self criticism I think people tend to construct their egos in ways that make them pretty fragile if attacked from the right angle. They still might have very strong defenses for the most part, but once a weakspot is exposed it doesn't take much for everything to collapse in on it's self.

But in any case it's for sure a more complicated issue then that, and I think I have ranted here enough about crap.
