I disagree about the money thing. I generally play games for either appealing mechanics or a good story (if the two combine it becomes a favorite), so having it be too hard to get and keep money and/or having RPG battles be too hard is a serious drag for me and sometimes I even have to put the game away for a bit and play something else. It frustrates me when I can't find out what happens next in the story. The money thing matters because sometimes you can only get past those tough battles with highly expensive items equipped.

I used to like MMO a lot more, but lately I've preferred not to just because it's not just your world, it's also that of everyone else playing. The online games I do really like are Neopets and School of Dragons because a. interesting gameplay without monster battles and b. how much you interact with others is your choice (you can block chat in SoD).

And I guess I would be a "fuddy duddy" too because I like Barbie and Petz games as well as the old Harry Potter games and still play them. I'm proud of my commitment to my childhood faves, though, because they've inspired me the most for my own creative works.

Why is it that some games are more easily tolerated than others that are considered "hard?"  For example, I love games like Ghosts n Goblins, Dark Souls, the older Ninja Gaiden games, and basically anything Shin Megami Tensei, but I can't stand games like Super Meat Boy, I Wanna Be The Guy, The Impossible Game, the newer Ninja Gaiden games, and Devil May Cry 3.  The funny part is with each game I can cite reasons I like AND dislike them, but it seems like it's WHAT I dislike about certain games that causes me to just plain not like them.

For example, Dark Souls is a game that kicks you ass for a living, but you feel a great sense of accomplishment anytime you learn how to fight a boss well and beat him.  Meanwhile, I never got that sense of accomplishment from the newer Ninja Gaiden games.  With Ghosts n Goblins games, the levels were often obscenely difficult, but a treat to trudge through...yet with games like I Wanna Be The Guy and Super Meat Boy, I feel like they're difficult just for the sake of being difficult, even though it feels like they're trying to accomplish the same thing.

For a lot of people, it seems like they're willing to forgive or otherwise look issues that are glaring and ridiculous to other people.  I realize it comes down to preference, but one would think that if a game is deemed difficult, challenging, or tough that it would all come down to doing the same thing over and over until you get it right and enjoy the fact that you finally accomplished something ridiculously difficult...yet, I don't get that for some reason.

I don't know, what do you guys think?

Yes, I guess a common complaint I have in games is money being too plentiful.  I liked how in Final Fantasy 7 if you had a ton of money and nothing else to do with it you could buy a villa.

As for additional unpopular videogame opinions, I don't like multiplayer or online games and I'm such a fuddy duddy I'm still playing sims 2 and civ 4.

I wholeheartedly agree with these two points and hope to help change them with the games I make. I want to include a lot of female lead characters (as well as female major NPCs) who are created as characters rather than fan service. I've seen female characters who are really good characters but whose designs are very much made to appeal to a male audience, which I think is disrespectful to the characters.
I love Barbie Explorer and Secret Agent Barbie because not only do we have a woman lead in a traditionally male role, but she is also designed without appealing to men in mind (the clothes she wears are very practical for the roles she plays).

I think the Petz games (and I mean the ones made by PF Magic, like 1-5) are pretty awesome and a wonderful thing for people who can't have real pets. Currently I can't have a real cat, but I have my Catz so I'm pretty happy.

I sing a song and turn JaiCrimson into a fluffy kitty and then call up my cat-loving friend who comes and adopts JaiCrimson as her 1,438th kitty. The hill is mine.

Here's another one I have, though I don't think this is that unpopular:

I don't like the idea of Chrono Cross. I've never played the game, but from what I hear
so I made up my own version (which I might post as a fanfic eventually) of a sequel to Chrono Trigger.

Aw balls, you did something wrong... :<

I found a solution how to fix that:
I moved you to another map and I set my position on the hill. Everything works fine now.
    THE HILL IS MINE!

    Hm...10 things.

    1. I'm not a fan of ultra violent games. I'm okay with the battles in RPGs, but it can't be gory, I can't handle it.
    2. I love and still play Barbie computer games.
    3. I don't know if this is that unpopular, but I think games need more positive female characters, as well as positive POC and LGBT etc. characters.
    4. I count any game that is enjoyable by someone and feeds their creativity as "serious gaming." Thus, I count the Barbie and Petz games as serious.

I can only think of those four at the moment.

Saeryen got a reaction from _____ in Poll: realistic or random? which games do you prefer?
    I like both!

I love realistic games because of their story, and they are the launcher of a thousand fanfics for me.
As for random games, what I like is to make up my own story surrounding them. With my creativity, I turned Barbie Explorer into an untold epic about queens, cities ruined by giant snakes, and jewels meant to protect the world - all seen through the eyes of an explorer who comes to the world a thousand years after it all has happened.
