  1. Hello again. Back from the dead to ask a question. It's a bit of a weird situation so bear with me here: I'm making a game that's entirely run via common events, with very little player control outside of choices/text/menu processing. There are two issues i'm facing right now because of this: #1 are game overs. Since i'm using a game over common event plugin, the game won't end if all actors are defeated until all other common events finish processing, which leads me to issue #2: Since all these common events keep piling up in reserve, it'll probably cause issues if there's too many at a time. So my question: Is there a way to completely remove all currently processing common events at once, and - say, leave an autorun event on the map that opens a menu if there's nothing else running at the moment? Apologies if this was asked before. I've been searching around and found nothing so far
  2. Soooo much negativity plaguing both the web and ace forums, everybody. Let's all recall the last time someone brightened our day, and seek to do the same for others :D

  5. Somehow I feel as though the best RPG Maker games aren't rpgs at all or are barely rpgs that favour story more so than gameplay. Hmm...

most rpgs are about story. wouldn't be much of an rpg if it was more combat over story.

Story is a way to tell the player not only the game itself, but to explain what to expect and why it is there. :) Like a background about Demons would be nice if you have demons in battle for example~

It's important to have a fine balance between story and gameplay, otherwise you'll end up having one side that may not be as interesting as the other. Taking Chrono Trigger for example, it has a really awesome combat system that was fun and didn't feel too grindy and the story was pretty phenomenal. That may be a high bar to set, but games like Ib, Witch's House or Mad Father all for example focus on story and do it really well. I hope we see more of this kind of thing.

  6. Ladies and gentlemen, here's to an unfinished, unpolished piece of work that took a staggering 8 hours to build. Project 8 was a little idea I had in mind when I challenged myself to create a game within 8 hours, the result is a fast paced dungeon crawler where you take control of 3 out of 20 possible characters chosen at random to enter a sprawling dungeon and vanquish the evils that lurk within. The result is also one big mess, and testers are appreciated (and sorely needed). Welcome to GLADIATOR! Where the mightiest of average joes take up arms and fight evil for honor, fame, and cold hard cash! Gladiator is a team based reality game show jam-packed with action, drama, and adventure, broadcast on live television! Which of these teams can conquer the fearsome dungeon and win the grand prize of $500,000?! Who will survive? And who will fall victim? Stay tuned! Features: - Randomly generating dungeons, no two dungeons are ever the same. - 20 possible characters to control. - Fast paced, turn-based battles. - Dozens of items, weapons, and armour to customize your battlers. - Crafting system that takes advantage of the ton of loot obtained. 10. Total Progress Story: 85% Graphics: 15% Eventing: 0% Mapping: 0% Databasing: 30% Hello, and welcome to what is probably the first game I will develop seriously. Imaginite is adventure RPG game developed by a team of one. The expected release date will be two years from now (May 16, 2015) as I will work to ensure that every bug will be fixed and the game balanced to perfection. The story revolves around the trials and tribulations of four unique characters as they stumble upon a mysterious artefact and are accidentally transported to another world. However, this world isn't the usual bells and whistles alternate dimension world. In fact, the atmosphere, mood, and characters are all based off of the character's lives, their issues, struggles, and plights. Now that they have stumbled upon these strange worlds, how will they escape? Oliver: Archaeology aficionado, bright, inquisitive, level headed, but temperamental, and an avid fantasy game fan. His victimized past and his parent’s preference for his younger brother Patrick leaves a lot of pent up frustration, which he utilized fantasy games as a means of relieving stress. He has high aspirations of being an archaeologist like his father, but is sometimes too unrealistic in planning his future, which causes him stress. Bianca: A friend of Oliver, who often questions Oliver’s motives and actions. Bianca is a self-professed nerd who excels in literature, but is socially awkward at times. Uncertain about her own future, and easily envious of other writers, she is difficult on herself frequently, but displays a positive attitude toward others and their work. Her parents divorced when she was 12, and she lived with her mother ever since. Easily gets angry at self for her lack of prowess in literature, but constantly strives and sets goals to be better. Strongly believes that skill is based off talent + hard work, but one can’t survive without the other. Josephine: One of the ‘popular kids’, but refuses to participate in doing whatever immature acts her peers seem to delight in, Josephine feels compassion and sympathy toward Oliver and Bianca instead of teasing and bullying them. She’s a sporty, athletic pugilist who surprisingly is an above average student with a speciality in mathematics. She suffered a tragic past which claimed the lives of her parents, and was taken to an orphanage. She eventually warms up to the party after discovering their plight, misfortunes, and past and compares it to her own. Patrick: Dark, brooding, and a loner who hates everyone, and apathetic, his negative spirit and thoughts cause the artefact to transport him to a dark world.. His hatred of others stems from his own hatred toward himself, that if he can’t be happy, no one else can. He soon realizes that everyone should value their own lives as well as others, and that both extremes are unhealthy. - 4 playable characters with completely customizable playstyles. - Side view animated battle system with loads of special move effects. - Skill Runes to mix and match several unique effects on your spells. - A crafting/alchemy system to brew potions of several different effects. - A stat point distribution system to completely customize your character's stats upon levelling up. - An engaging and dark story revolving around the issues and problems of teenagers. Souls Style Game?

Awesome, I'm using the same ABS engine as well. The problem is that the hitboxes are precise and finicky, but otherwise, the script is very flexible. Good luck on the rest of the story!
