As a composer; I hate to say it but a lot goes into making background music. You basically need to understand how to write rhythms, harmonies and melodies. If you're not using real instruments; you're also going to need a program to sequence your music in. For a sequencer; I would recommend starting with the piano roll sequencer in FL Studio. It's very easy to use. You can download the free version of FL Studio here: https://www.image-line.com/downloads/flstudiodownload.html The only big limit of the free version is that you can not open saved FLP files. After you download FL Studio, you should probably look up a tutorial on how to use the piano roll; such as this one: It would also help you to read an article on music composition such as this one: http://www.artofcomposing.com/how-to-compose-music-101 My last tip would be to just listen to your favorite RPG BGM and try to recreate them using the Piano Roll. Once you're confident that you can recreate other songs in the piano roll; try to compose your own. -
