    Games you consider underrated

Are we talking about obscure-ish games or underrated games? I don't think the original trilogy of Donkey Kong Country really counts as "underrated". It got excellent reviews from just about every video game magazine at the time. Forgettable for many people, maybe, since it didn't generate the type of popularity it deserved, but certainly not underrated. And I'm with you on the Returns series, Ghost King. It doesn't feel like Donkey Kong anymore, it just feels like New Super Mario Brothers with a coat of gorilla paint. I love the original SNES DKCs, but Returns doesn't have that same "je ne sais quoi". (On a DKC related note, I went to GameStop one day to get a game, and the official Nintendo rep was there installing the new demo for Tropical Freeze. He said he'd be done installing it in a couple minutes, and asked if I wanted to try it. As I started playing it, the Nintendo rep informed me that I was the first person in Ohio to play the DKC Tropical Freeze demo, which I thought was pretty cool.)

What are your unpopular videogame opinions?

Here's an example for you, I'll post one of my own "unpopular" opinions. I like Mass Effect 1 way more than 2 (never played 3). And I think Mass Effect 2 is overall just a crappy game, with the combat feeling clunky, too much limited ammo that forces you to use a gun you don't like eventually, and the poorly thought out story. And I hate hearing the whole "It's an RPG 'cause STORY and CHOICES" even though it's just a 3rd person shooter like Gears of War, but in Space starring Space Jesus. Since most people tend to like Mass Effect 2 and 3 better than 1, and since Mass Effect 2 met mainly positive critical reviews, my opinion is "unpopular".

    Choose Someone Else's Adventure

--Flying Raptor: Dangerous, high prize-- Our hero stares at the board for some time, his eyes shifting back and forth between the two bounties. Suddenly, he snatches the parchment with a drawing of a huge, vicious looking bird with a huge maw and razor sharp teeth on it. This beast had apparently been snacking on local farm animals, so the sooner it was gone, the less the town's food supply would be impacted. Everyone in the village had chipped in on the bounty, for the reward was quite substantial. "Now, this one looks interesting...", the warrior whispered to himself. He walked up to the bar and leaned against the counter, bounty in hand. The barman, not looking up from wiping a glass that was surely dry by now, asked, "What'll it be?" "At the moment, my good man, I have not a copper to my name. But I am hoping to change that. What can you tell me of this beast?" the warrior asks. Finally looking up and noticing the man in front of him, the bartender briefly shows his surprise, taking in the young man's size and equipment. His face quickly molds into a frown, and he says "Son, I don't want ya to think I'm doubting you, since it's clear you've seen your fair share of battle, but I know for a fact that the Mayor intended that beast be felled by a group of warriors, not just one man. Do ya have others with you?" Our hero thinks for a moment, and shakes his head. "Nope, just me. But I've fought bigger birds than this." The bartender looks at the warrior suspiciously. "Well, lad, don't say I didn't warn ya. I still think you ought not fight it alone, and if ya don't have any one to help, you could still ask around town. The blacksmith is quite skilled with a blade, and the fletcher's daughter is quite the shot with a bow. Just something for you to think on." The warrior nods, and walks out of the pub in to the sunlight. Do you... Recruit the blacksmith and the fletcher's daughter? -OR- Leave town and start hunting the Flying Raptor?
  4. Choose Your Own Someone Else's Adventure! I thought up a new game to try out! Remember the books I'm referencing? Where you read the first page, and it gave you choices to turn to different pages for different outcomes? This is similar. I'm going to start things of in a kind of mundane manner, to give it a neutral beginning. Then the next poster chooses one of the options I gave, takes over the story for a bit, describing what happens for that choice, and leaves it at another set of choices for the next poster, and so on. Feel free to get the character in to any good/bad/dangerous/awkward/weird situation you can think of, but unlike the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books, no dead ends. Just a few rules to point out: - Don't kill off the player character - The narrator speaks in italics - (Put Out of Character comments in parenthesis) And, that's it, anything else goes! Let's get started! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A lone warrior trudges slowly along the road, descending out of the mountain pass, exhausted from his travels. Just as he considers stopping to make camp for the night, he scans the horizon, and notices a small village off in the distance. He smiles to himself, seeing dim light glowing out of a few windows, promising the warmth of a fire burning in the hearth. As he draws closer, he can make out that the two buildings alight are the inn and pub. Making his way up to the gate, the lone guard calls out to him. “Hail, and well met, traveler! What brings you to our gates so late this night?†Looking up at the guard, you lower the hood of your cloak, and reply, “Well met to you as well, my friend. I am but a weary traveler, looking for a warm meal and a warm bed. Will you permit me to enter?†The guard nods, turning the winch to raise the portcullis. As you enter, the guard stops you, saying, “I won’t have no trouble out of you while you’re here, right?†You look at the guard for a moment, and slowly shake your head. Satisfied, the guard returns to his post, and releases the winch holding the gate. The portcullis slams in to place behind you as you quickly scan the town, finding the pub and the inn. Do you… Enter the pub? -OR- Enter the inn?

The Photo Booth- show your face people!

Nice picture dude! I agree with lonequeso, you don't look douchey in that pic. Don't be so hard on yourself. But your sleeve looks cool from what I can tell! C'mon, you know you just didn't want people to see you in SS mode. But I found a picture of you at work, in the elevator, fully transformed.

    Hills - Please advise

Wow, that's a lot better. The purple dot shading on the first one clashed a bit too much, the second looks really improved. Good work!

    Chill-out Corner (Fave Music Thread)

That's funny, classical and pop are basically polar opposites. I listen to just about everything, the only things I really don't like are cookie-cutter country and rap that utilizes no singing or instruments. But I have a special place in my heart for classic rock. Like this:

Frog Suit Mario? *Browse to see how it looks like Oh, yes... I think my knowledge in gaming is not really great xD Cymiril Name: How to spell it? Is it cy-me-real? But it's cool! 8/10 Avatar: I think Friezastoise is an equal pokemon to fight Super Saiyan Charizard. 10/10 Signature: No signature. Not really a big deal xD 6/10 Overall: 8/10 I pronounce it "sim-eh-rill". Or you can just shorten it to Cym ("sim"). Thanks for the compliment! I originally made it up for my WoW Blood Elf Paladin, it was supposed to look and sound elvish. Thanks, yeah, I did make the avatar, I used a default Blastoise and recolored it, lengthened the tail, and added the glow from scratch. So I guess 8.7 there? I think I'm the only one who hasn't rated Riki's yet, so... Rikifive Name: It's good, easy to remember, but I don't understand what it means. 6/10 Avatar: It's a magical unicorn/pegasus/pony! Not a fan of MLP, but it's still cool. 9/10 Signature: Nice and organized, with lots of cool things to look at, and not too big. 10/10 Overall: 7/10
