ah, thank you two for the comments! I made the color palette by choosing the base colors and then using a multiply layer of a warm desaturated color. I might tweak the palette some to see if I can get better results, thank you for the input! I use GraphicsGale for the spritework. I couldn't get comfy with GIMP and I don't have Photoshop so it's light-weight and ease of use has been very suitable for me. (pardon if my writing is sloppy in this post, it's like 5 am for me) On the bright side, I've been making good progress! I've started doing pencil tests for her idle battle animation, and I'm really liking it so far. I've not really had much experience with animation so this is proving to be a fun project. EDIT: Okay so I tweaked the colors a bit. Better or worse? EDIT2: more tweaking
  3. Hi hi, people~ I haven't introduced myself here yet, but I primarily joined up to set this thread up anyways, so I just couldn't help myself. Anyways, I have ambitions to develop my own art assets for a game, and one of the main things I envision for it is larger sprites than like you'd see from the RTP and stuff. So, I've been sketching out a template to use as a basis for all my character (overworld) sprites, but the real test is how it looks like as pixel art. So, before I sketch out more frames and finish more sprites, I want feedback for this style I'm developing. I know it's a single frame right now, but I'd really appreciate any comments so that I may touch it up and keep that critique in mind going forward. Edit: I almost forgot! A zoomed in pic might help, so here ya go: link
