    Jack of All Trades
  1. I tend to find that taking two or three different artists/styles as inspiration goes a long way when it comes to improving; this was actually one of my first attempts at vehicle/machinery spriting though some of the art I found for reference turned out to be really helpful. Thanks for the words though, good luck to you on your art ^^ I haven't really looked around for many artists/styles to be inspired from. Maybe that's what i am missing. I usually enjoy doing furniture, grass, water, typical tile-stuff. I am quite good with cyber-neon visuals. My Artwork is still miles ahead of my pixel work. But I am getting there. Problem with being an jack of all trades is having to keep improving all the different areas. You're very welcome! Thank you.

Anvil Studio. Freeware for midi composing

Ahh yes Anvil Studio! I've been using that since back in 2008/2009 myself. Good piece of freeware kit. There's also some MIDI to MP3 conversion software or alternatively use some of the various conversion sites on google. I find that handy if and when i need it.
  3. I should probably actually get out and go for a walk... Get some air... O_o I don't think i seen daylight for 3 days.

Does it need to be more pixelated?

Hey Bigcanoe, I think in regards to pixel-work. I think it all depends on whether you are deciding to make your own entire tile-set or not. If you are making your own set: All the tiles you make will be unique to your own design and that would mean that the image is fine. If you are making it to blend in with the default RTP: It probably needs more pixelation. If you want to make your picture blend in with the RTP then you may need to apply the style of the RTP to your work. Hope that helps.

Shiney & New (but not so new)

Yayyyyyy! More dying means more cookies and more cookies means more poison and more poison means more yum yums for us! I gotta get me that recipe!
  9. Eric’s Epic Adventure (working title) Concept: Why am i making this game? Well the idea came when i realised RPG makers main protagonist is no longer the outdated Ralph. Instead it is Eric. Which gave me a brilliant idea for a simple but pretty big project. At first i was going to make a game where Eric and Ralph battle it out. But then i saw bigger potential. That's not to say Ralph won't appear... Oh he will. From the current design direction the game it is definitely comedic in the areas where you come across like an annoying little ****. Pestering guards and bugging people for friendships and epic adventures. As a Designer: As a designer I like to bring the most out of my projects whether it be a standard nothing special game or an epic game feature filled to the point of bursting. I'm very passionate as a designer. I have 3 other projects which I love to bits. Those are my big projects on another game making engine entirely. If i don't like the game then it doesn't get made. If i don't feel it reaches my personal standards then I simply re-write from scratch. If it has no potential I bin it. When I make a game has to be the best of my abilities and standards. This project is taking me back to my roots of Game Design and is a non-commercial project for fun. Abstract: Comedy, Adventure. Genre: RPG Game Progression: Early Stages. I will be working on it around work and other projects. A small playable demo may very well be ready by September at this current rate. Recruitment: Not currently recruiting. However if anyone wishes to help with the project in anyway please PM me. Required: Story / Setting / Purpose: The game takes place in the world of RPG Maker VX Ace years and years after the stories told by Ralph from RPG Maker VX. You play as Eric. Who has been living with his Mother and Father in a secluded area of woodland in the new world of VX Ace (re-named after the heroic feats of Ralph who saved the Kingdom from a terrible monster). Eric has grown bored. After realising that he has no friends and no future where he currently is, he decides to go on a mission. His mission? To find friendships across the new world and to seek the adventure his heart cries out for. Character Bios: Eric – Eric is a happy-go-lucky 17 year old boy who grows up in a forest with his Mother and Father. He can be rather annoying and has a habit of pestering everyone he sees, both because of boredom and curiosity. His curiosities however, may work in his favour or may not. Eric can be rather idiotic and doesn’t often take no for an answer which can land him into a world of trouble. Eric grew up attacking trees with sticks which makes him pretty good with a sword. However he has no real experience. There isn’t really any other main characters as the other members of your party will depend on how you play the game and what quests you decide to do and by telling you who the other potential members are it could spoil and ruin the game. Credits: Scripts so far: Galv's Layer Graphics Zeus Lights & Shadows Scripts so far: RTP stuff. If I have time I will do some of my own. Tilesets so far: I’m actually using RTP and an edited Mack Tileset from a project I worked on years ago. But the Mack set is vaguely noticeable and only used for extra indoor tiles. Sprites so far: RTP & Generator sprites. Everything else is RTP unless I decide to make some of my own. However the aim of this game is to strictly use everything that is RPG maker VX Ace standard or modified. Screenshots: I would explain the towns and locations but I haven't done enough on them to really write anything useful other than Town - Where people live and some King resides. However Azura is sort of a central base! You may find yourself coming back here a few times. But you could play through the game and only visit once... Because you have to. Maybe. Features: This game doesn’t have any specific special features as of yet. The uniqueness is down to how I make it and put it together. The game features the use of a unique special skill known as Annoyance (an attack which can potentially force enemies to run away).

Good thing I'm immune to poison eh? Least it wasn't water though. That would have most definitely finished me. Don't worry Riki, Your game is in good hands . I think... In memory of it's creator i shall add a death scene to the game a long with a grave which says "R.I.P Riki". There will be NPC tears...

    Back to the Mapper!

Hey CVincent, First of all, Thank you very much for the response. Much appreciated. Regarding map size, I've been known to make large maps work with little unused space . However though, I quite prefer a smaller manageable section. Regarding tiles. I've always believed that a good map needs to have a natural look to it. Growth on man-made tiles (especially ares where nature is clawing it's space back), Rugged mountain sides. wild and unpredictable terrain, Rivers that don't run in straight lines (unless man made) etc. I'm always an artist before a designer so detail is always key. I guess now i been playing around with it i quite enjoy the idea of a world map for long travels and stuff. Ha-ha yeah, now that you mention it that is quite a long bridge . I will bare that in mind. Thank you again! I hope not to disappoint.
