  1. I'm using the in-game Character generator for my main characters' sprites and faces. I'm wondering if there's a program that will give me various expressions for the face graphics, as in sad, happy, surprised, etc. I'm somewhat doubtful that such a program exists, but an alternate solution would be making the expressions myself, but I'm not a very good visual artist. Are there any tutorials I may benefit from teaching how to draw expressions in this manner? Thanks in advance

    Back version of this throne?

    I'm no artist, but I did make a very simple graphic in GIMP just recently and it was easier than I thought it'd be. Maybe check out some tutorials for it (if you don't have Photoshop, it appears to be a good free alternative) and try to make the back yourself. You may even have fun doing it and decide to make more custom items

    leaveing debug items in game

    Off the top of my head I'd figure you could simply have a switch that turns on after beating the final boss that will activate certain events. And all events that are conditional to that switch then become active

  5. I thought I remembered seeing that html tags worked, but I tried it with italics and it was a no go. I feel stupid because I know I've seen it somewhere but I can't seem to remember, and I did search among the forums but still couldn't find it >_<

    Flashing TV screen effect?

    Yeah I ended up downloading Gimp and making the screens myself. It looks a little wonky, I'll admit, but I think it works Thanks!
  7. I have a cutscene (the intro cutscene, in fact) in which a TV is showing a broadcast. It looks quite strange to have the TV just sitting there, black as night as it's simply a tile. I'm sure there's a way to make it apparent that the TV is on and showing something, but my brain just isn't able to figure it out Is there a character sheet of a TV somewhere or an effect I can add to get my wish? Thanks.
  8. That's the thing; I never changed anything with respect to font type or size so I figured they would be accurate, but even out of the box they were inaccurate for me >_<
  9. Thank you so much for this. Just starting out with my first project which is an interactive version of a novel so the text is heavy, and I was tearing my hair out because of those arrows which do absolutely nothing. You are amazing!

    Haha. That super-sayin Charizard is mighty intimidating, but I always have the Squirtle Squad at my call if necessary And yeah, I suppose my alchemy game can be on a hiatus, but I am having loads of fun with my novel already
  11. Didn't seem to work, but thanks! That did it! I just moved the event one tile over and specified the event to move to that tile, and NPC went right over it. Thanks! I didn't even know about that feature! The things I'm going to learn...

    Okay, I'm here. Now what?

    I decided to abandon it >_< If anything I should have started on a less complex game. But I realized that I should stick to my main goals of becoming a well-known novelist, and so I started doing the interactive version of my first book, The Journey to Atlantis. It was a little daunting at first, since I got all of the DLC from the Steam sale, and I had so many resources. But I grouped them all together so I know exactly where things are if I need them. I'm about a quarter of the way done with the first chapter so far, so hopefully I can get that finished within the week and maybe have some of you guys give it the ol' spot check
  13. I have a room in which an NPC "leaves" by way of the same transfer event that the player uses. But the NPC stops moving before entering the tile with the event, as if it can't pass through it. It's a simple Transfer Event and the NPC is just moving on a custom route. I set his route to end one tile before the event, where he disappears, as he's "left" the area, but it looks strange since the player character has to move one tile further to exit. Any and all help appreciated. Thanks.
  14. Hey guys! Great to be here. My name's Bryan, but I go by Knever online pretty much everywhere, so if you see Knever out and about, it's most likely me. I'm an avid gamer and a novelist. I discovered RPGMaker a while back and messed around with it a bit, but didn't really make any projects. But I got a hankering to get back into it and I checked out some tutorials to refresh my memory on how it works and I think I've got a good handle on things. My first project is to make an alchemy game where the main character makes items from ingredients, and also uses ingredients to create party members (because he sucks at battling and gets his ass kicked in the first fight of the game). I think it's going to be rather short because I mainly want to do it to see if I can actually commit to using the software. One of my goals, I admit, is rather silly. I want to make an interactive version of my novel. There's not really a good way to implement battling in it, so I'm not sure how it would pan out, but the idea interests me greatly. If the first novel game turns out to be anything more than an average POS, maybe my other books will see the transition as well. I hope to be part of this community for a long time, and hopefully I'll make some friends here and make some great games! Thanks!
