    Thoughts on my Parallax Mapping

Because, @KilloZapit, when I get more experienced, I will probably end up hand drawing all my maps. I'm pretty much just using the in-built RMMV stuff for practise. When I have more time and experience, I will most likely end up creating my own tilesets etc.
  2. Hey guys, I uploading a video comparing the original map for the starting town in my Game to the Parallax Mapped version and was wanting your opinions and/or thoughts.

    Opinion For A Parallax Mapping

Thanks a lot, Wisteriacutie... I read this post and then spent the past 2.5 hours learning how to effectively parallax map

A little help with Spike Traps

I agree with Rezanta. It sounds to me like you're over thinking it. It should be as simple as having two switches; A: to tell the Spikes when they are hidden and B: to tell the spikes when they are active (unhidden). It should be an easy task then to set the unhidden spikes to respond to 'Player Touch' and reduce the Player (or Party) HP by x, where x is the desired damage

    Tarq's Emporium of Inadequate Edits

Just wanted a Red/Gold chest like the typical RPGMaker chest lol

    Tarq's Emporium of Inadequate Edits

Tarq, You're awesome. I will probably end up using the Sideways chest. Do you mind if I re-colour it?

Religion is Games... either as a joke or otherwise

Well Tarq, I guess you could say that the main religion in the game serves the 'Good Guys' although the priests/clerics mostly just exist to shed a little light on the backstory. There were two beings in the beginning. Matter (Life) and Anti-matter (Anti-life). Basically the force of Life won and is considered a God by the majority of Humanity. I guess it's just a case of History is written by the Victor. The religion just sprang up around an ancient Tale of Matter vs Anti-matter, although the two do have distinct personalities. Neither is necessarily 'Good' or 'Evil' as these things are a matter of perspective that all-powerful beings don't really care about. I mean, I make a few cracks about Atheism and religion being baloney but those jokes are more for those who think that way, while there are other jokes for those that do believe in a ' greater Power' per se

Religion is Games... either as a joke or otherwise

I'm pretty sure I bash the religion I made up for the game just a teensie weensie bit. Otherwise, the Game is pretty much Good vs evil... you know, your typical stuff. As for the Pastafarians, I'm not sure if they're serious or not but they seem to enjoy preaching about the FSM (Flying Spaghetti Monster) so I guess they're at least semi serious
  9. Hey guys, was just wondering what kind of input you guys had on including the religions of our world (Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Pastafarianism etc.) into games, whether as a joke or otherwise. I have a few friends who believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster and another few friends who believe in the various religions and they don't seem to mind too much unless serious mockery is being undertaken. So I pitch this to you, fellow developers and/or gamemakers; What is your opinion on Religion in games?
  10. *casually ships Jaycen x Kimberley* Looks great! I'll play the Alpha at some point when I have time I kinda intended that, although Kimberley tends to show her affection with beatings and insults. Glad to hear that you like the idea. Hopefully you enjoy the gameplay. Just make sure to save before entering new areas... I think I might have missed a few bugs that I've yet to discover
  11. Bit of shameless self promotion here. If anyone wants to check out my game: Demon's Gate, please feel free to do so here: http://www.rpgmakercentral.com/topic/38721-demons-gate/ Feel free to download and play the Aplpha/demo and drop some feedback!

How to hide followers on the World map?

Huh. didn't know you could do that lol. Cheers
  15. There's a few curse words and the like. Just a warning Abstract: Just your run-of-the-mill RPG. The Hero is in the wrong place at the wrong time and ends up having to fight off Hordes of Demons and close the agate to Hell. Genre: Fantasy Game Progression: I’m roughly a quarter of the way through the game. I have an Alpha level release if anyone’s interested in crash-testing/critiquing my game. Recruitment: I’m not really recruiting but if anyone wants to help out after testing, they’re welcome It’s your basic RPG storyline. Our hero, Jaycen, is given a quest by the village priest to deliver a letter to his friend in the Capital city. Should be a cakewalk right? Alas, this was not so. Our hero and his best friend Kimberley must travel South to get permission to enter the Northern half of the continent. As they travel, they meet many new and exciting people, such as Caine the Wandering Paladin (who joins them on their journey) and face many dangerous and thrilling challenges and encounters. Once our heroes have acquired permission, they return to the North and complete their quest. After they complete their quest, they are invited to visit the Demon Gate, which the great God Kleithorea used to seal away the Darkness, a being of pure malice. Whilst they are visiting the gate, they discover that the gate has been breached and Demons, abominations of unimaginable horror, have been slipping into this world. Tasked with destroying the Demons by Kleithorea himself, our Heroes, along with a new and as of yet unnamed companion, must drive back the Demons and the Darkness itself to once and for all seal evil away inside the Demon Gate. Jaycen: Jaycen is kinda naïve, probably a Virgin and isn’t as comfortable around females as he’d like to be. Kimberley: Kimberley is Jaycen’s childhood best friend and is a sadist with a vicious sense of humour. She’s probably in love with Jaycen but don’t tell her I said that Caine: Caine is rather pious and hasn’t had much of a chance for character development. He seems noble… but first impressions aren’t always the truth. Credits: BuffBill84 - Voiced Daisy the Cow http://soundbible.com/1572-Single-Cow.html Credits to the guys from Kadokawa Corp. for all the stuff from VX Ace that I nicked Screenshots: Title Screen: King's Bridge Overview: Fairy Spring Hidden Room: Just a teaser of a hidden room located in my game. It contains an easter egg/ohmage to a popular game. Mountainview Farmhouse Preview: It kinda reminds me of Grandma's House Download link for Alpha release: https://www.dropbox.com/s/u4tsm1267guxu9z/Demons%20Gate.zip?dl=0 **Please Note: This game is barely 1/4 finished. I would like some feedback on my progress but I would prefer if obvious things like not all areas being accessible are left out of feedback unless pertinent to a bug or suggestion** Errata: I've updated the download link to a slightly newer version of the game that fixes a few bugs that occurred previously
