  1. The tornado that tore arse through Andover, the storm began its' life over Haysville, where I currently reside. Can you imagine, having something like that happening so nearby...

EF3 damage, twenty-one miles in length. To boot, the tornado moved at a snail's pace, 20 mi/h / 32 km/h. It wasn't the only tornado the storm produced; it dropped another one after sunset just to the west of Rosalia.

      "Wild roses?"

I dunno; I was thinking of taglines and had Final Fantasy on the mind as well.

However, are you really that age, or is the magic gate system playing mind games with you?

Ya know, Windows 10 corrupted the only HDD option I had for my more capable PC, so I know exactly what you're dealing with. I don't even have a SATA to USB option for (potential) data retrieval.

  5. Oh wow... I knew they announced a remaster of Chrono Cross a while ago, but I didn't know it would also come with a version of Radical Dreamers as well! And also they announced a remake of Live-A-Live of all things! Square is really diving through it's old library huh?

Edit: Apparently they are doing a remake of the original Front Mission too. Never got into the series, but more old games being remade well is nice to see.

I wanna see how well that CC remake turns out myself.

  6. Yes, finally got Roland MT-32 emulation working with dosbox! Now I can play Ultima Underworld, Ultima 7, Ultima Underworld 2 and/or Ultima 7 Part 2, (yes that's the canon order) with the music sounding like it's supposed to.

Mind I donno if I actually will ever play those games any time soon, but now I can with proper music!

    1. PhoenixSoul

      PhoenixSoul

Nice. Roland MT-32 was way ahead of its' time, for certain.

THPS3 was on PlayStation, PS2, Xbox, and PC. (I forget which Nintendo console got THPS3)
As for the flatland tricks, most of them would actually not even be in the game proper until THPS4 or even THUG1.

  8. Since XP, VX and VX Ace are deprecated, the source code should be available, so that certain problems can actually be fixed.

Maybe then, the experience will be better going forward.

Note, I didn't say make the source code public. Yet.

    1. PhoenixSoul

      PhoenixSoul

Ah, it used to be that for a fee, one could get a copy of the source code if the dev opted to provide it.

Hah; I'd love to see 'Right to Repair' tackle software...LOL

That, dearest love @Kayzee, @Rikifive, is Neversoft Eye; the mascot and an unlockable skater in THPS3 (except for the PlayStation iteration). Neversoft Eye has also been imported into Guitar Hero World Tour: Definitive Edition.

I also know the skateboard tricks NSEye pulled off in that vid clip.

  12. Evil-5 is one of my favorite characters from the standard Ace pack. I just did a remaster LL version of him.

That's why. It's a meta game of sorts.

      Working on mine intermittently.
It's a struggle, really. I'm dealing with burnout like most people.
Unlike most people, I'm willing to admit burnout!

  19. Well, that settles it.
I'll never switch to Google for anything. I'll use MEGA instead.

  20. I got an email, that someone tried to download one of my crappy games, but couldn't due to Google's changes in security and stuff.

I don't like the new security update, because it STILL didn't fix ANY of the inconveniences I'm facing, but only introduced more of them, making all this process even more painful for me and everyone interested in downloading those files. Like, apparently you have to be logged into Google to be able to download the files - I'm not sure everyone will like it. It can be disabled, but they didn't really make it convenient to do, tons of clicking for each file.

Guess I'll have to run all over the place fixing links and stuff. Aaaand rip posts in communities I no longer visit. Thanks Google.

    麻了.png

Edit: Actually despite having to reconfigure each individually, it's not that bad, as disabling the security update for the file brings it all to normal and everything works, so in the end everything can be fixed within Google Drive itself. That works I guess.

  21. I finally made a topic for my game! Phew, I have been putting it off for like forever.

  22. I'm so incredibly happy. After over five years in development, I finally launched my game the other day on the 27th. 😊 Getting to this point has been the biggest struggle of my life, but I finally got here. Reviews have been good so far, and I hope the success continues! Thank you for everyone's support here, I learned a lot through this process. I even completed the Ruby course for SoloLearn and got a little certificate. ✨

  23. Do you remember that music video I showed you once about the little guy riding on the dragon to the center of the planet to turn on a switch that turned it into a disco ball that lit up another planet that caused ruins to rise out of the ground turning into a dance floor? I can't remember what that was called and now I donno how to find it!

  24. Today I'm contemplating my battle system because I'm working on weapons.  There are a few questions weighing on my mind:

    1.  How many upgrades should each player have for weapons?  The game isn't going to be long, so I can't imagine that it would make sense coming up with some vast array of incremental upgrades.  I know that I want each player to have a "special" weapon made just for them, and their starting weapons.  I feel like if I don't have at least one upgraded weapon, people won't be happy.

    2.  What should I do about damage calculations?  In my first game, I screwed this up big time.  In the beginning, players were one-shotted.  In the end, bosses I expected to be extra hard were total pushovers.  I really want this game to represent an improvement in my game development skills.

    3.  The big one:  How do I make the battle FEEL like a wild west shoot out with the current battle system?  I have a few little ideas, but it's really not fully fleshed out, yet.  Some things I've managed to figure out are that my gunslinger should be focusing on the number of bullets being put into the air.  My Sniper should be high powered, precise, but slow.  My mage should...  well...  be a mage?  I'm not sure how my Ranger will work though.  His shotgun is great for crowd controlling weak enemies, but I want to develop skills that make him special so that players don't feel like he's dead weight in the party.  In the storyline, he's supposed to be on par in terms of combat skill with the gunslinger, so he should be at least as useful in a fight.  Is being able to crowd control enemies enough to set him apart?

      PhoenixSoul

      Hmmm...
One could also go with a weapon-based damage formula (thinking along the lines of games like Adventure Quest and such)...

Essentially, one takes equipment to be improved, the appropriate materials, to the appropriate machina (in TES there are a few), and use it to upgrade the quality of the equipment. Each quality upgrade will thus, increase the base damage/armor rating and also, the base value of the equipment. Of course, in TES, there was a limit to how well and often equipment could be upgraded, based on the Smithing skill, and relevant boosts applied.
