  1. So yeah, I'll just go ahead and say it.

The hardware I have sucks, I was ripped off, and I cannot do a damn thing about it.

Wanna help? I accept donations via cash by mail and ONLY cash by mail. I should of never gotten this 2008 hunk of scrap, but that's how hindsight works, doesn't it?

I got taken advantage of, and all I can do is deal with the consequences of the greed of others. And bitch about it because that's apparently something I'm also good at.

As much as I appreciate @Kayzee offering me her older hardware, I need to get my own. Plus, I don't trust these f*cks at various shipping companies to not ship it completely broken and unusable. I'll simply find some way to build it myself, or I dunno, but it's only going to happen with your help...

      Do you accept Cryptocurrency?

What do you need the hardware for? It's a PC, I am assuming?

I have a few laptops that are 5+ years old, none of the batteries work, so they are basically tethered like a desktop. If you can get a hard drive, I'd gladly give you one, depending on what you need it for (they are pretty weak.) Currently I have a few running for Bitcoin in the background, and a couple collecting dust on my shelf.

    4. PhoenixSoul

I would if I knew how to actually use it.

Yeah, I have a desktop PC; it's basically just old trash. it runs, but was designed with Win XP in mind.

What I need is upgrading. Better GPU, CPU, multiple display capabilities, so, yeah. Thanks for the offer.

    Why So Whitewashed?

@Kayzee, is unfortunately, very much pinpoint accurate; Japan is definitely tight-knit in its' societal presentation and has been since the end of the Feudal/Medieval era. Sure, there's local 'melting pots' here and there where cultures are intermingling, but that's about as common as 'purple ribbon' bars/clubs in most of America (trans-friendly/inclusive; some places have more bars and clubs like this like Colorado and Nevada). Oh, and speaking of 'purple ribbon', that's still considered a 'taboo' thing in Japan, though usually not persecuted. Anyway, point is, if it isn't something that people want, well, it isn't going to happen (usually-sometimes there are things that happen anyway regardless of whether it was wanted or not). However, I do agree; there should be at least an attempt to have more variety, and try to be tasteful to boot. Not always easily done, but not impossible...I'd think, anyway...lol
  3. Three times in three damn months, there's been a severe weather event that was enough for the sirens to be sounded off, but Sunday, the Summer Solstice, at five in the morning, was the largest potential disaster. Had there been a viable threat, just like in the movie Twister (second Wakita scene), there would not of been enough advance warning, since by the time the sirens were going off, the storm was already here and/or passed by.

Fact is, there's not a single f*cking storm/fallout shelter within a hundred foot sprint short of chancing it with one of the nearby houses (that's a 'NOPE' type RNG for me), the apartments themselves have no central room, the buildings are not built to withstand much more than sustained gale force winds (exterior hallway separating two apartments on each of two floors per building making essentially a very unsafe area), so there's not a lot I could do. I'd barricade my window as best as I could, hide under the mattress, and hope nothing falls on top of me, and that's if I had enough time to do even that. Otherwise, I'd just grab the sturdiest thing I could, shut my computer off, and duck.

    My game project? Slow progress.

    That's it. @Kayzee, you're a really good friend. Thought I'd let you know...again...lol

Yeah, and isn't it sad that I, a flighty fairy who can be super lazy, am the one who ends up helping you the most? XD

    3. PhoenixSoul

      Likely because...
Corporate Assholes who only think of profits, and hackers who love to exploit those without the ability to protect themselves online have left me with this one avenue. That and, this place is pretty much dead.

      So, yeah...

  5. Oooookay...
Why is it that when I need a function to work, that I can't get it to work?
I mean, how hard does it have to be!?
Anyway, somehow, some damn way, Hime's Level Down State script refuses to work with Yanfly's Adjust Limits, giving me a nonsense NoMethod error that points to `<=` which tells me that the real issue lies elsewhere, but I'm not that knowledgeable about this to know exactly what to look at for troubleshooting.
Of course, I've tried. Numerous occasions I have. I've even went as far as making a bugfix scriptlet that would incorporate certain aspects of Hime's script into how Adjust Limits checks for params, but I get the exact same nonsense error with or without it!!
"Like, come ON with THIS!! Quit making it so damn hard to work with you!!!" I want to scream sometimes...
The struggle and frustrations are very real...(wishing I knew about programming language long ago rather than more recently...)

    1. Kayzee

I am pretty sure a NoMethod error for <= is actually not nonsense at all... Remember Ruby uses duck typing and has methods for everything, so yeah, <= is in fact a method and is not defined for anything in witch the concept of 'less then' doesn't make sense. Like if you have 'nil <= 1' it will give that error. Likely something is trying to compare a variable that hasn't been set yet with something.

    2. PhoenixSoul

I've found it very difficult to pinpoint nil issues since I don't understand it well enough.

That said, I've decided to go about it a different way, and have chosen to focus on other functions.

Ultimately, there's even more to add before I come to a finished demo state, but I think I have this now...
      I hope...lol

  6. a=actor.equips; b=$data_armors[304..324]; a.include?(b) Try that, see if it works. Also: a=actor.equips; b=actor.equips.atype_id[*]; a.include?(b) [*] : Change this to the proper Armor type ID. Keep the brackets!
  7. @WCouillard Event Command Change HP has your back. Just set that to +80 for the whole party and you're set.

Building a Free Library of Images for Everyone

Coin sounds. Like, when coins fall on various surfaces, and so on.
  9. I had a tiny query in the Discord server, one I figured would take less than two minutes for someone with greater knowledge about RGSS3 to answer than I could figure out.
Really, cold shoulder stings, so now I'm doubling down on this.
I can conditional check just fine for the player's region ID, but every attempt thus far at checking against event region ID's has given me invalid syntax errors (I know they're invalid due to where the error points to).
What is my goal? Well, let us just say that too many games allow player-event interactions when the player and event are on different areas but are also horizontally aligned (i.e. player on cliff and event below cliff). I want that NOT TO HAPPEN, dig?
    Of course ya do.

Yeah, that would be an issue, lolz
Glad you were online on Discord earlier.

I am glad to help! <3

Thing is, I might be getting a hang of this, to a fashion. Of course, sometimes I still believe that when something works, it is truly just me getting lucky, lolz

    Pictures in VX Ace

Yeah. 544x416 is VX Ace's default resolution. It technically can scale down or up, though there's a soft-coded 'limit' of 640x480. However, with pictures, the display is not coded particularly well from what I understand, so there's going to be issues no matter what. It would be best to actually use smaller images (like ninety to ninety-five percent of the game window resolution), and then do a bit of zooming in to make them fit better. Even then, it won't be perfect. As far as getting VX Ace to have fullscreen resolution at the resolution of the display, not sure how easily it could be done...

Trying to smash a bug in one of my old scripts...

With the fix, I think this is the correct layout: Looks like a very useful script, and to be honest, I had no idea VX Ace did that. How silly, lol
  12. Unrelated to RM, but I just completed a labor of love, one that took a lot of f*cking about with scaling parameters and such to get things to a point where boundary breaking and going under the woodwork would not be easily possible, and I had run into crashes many in the process, but it is done, and good grief...lolz
Oh, what was this labor of love? I recreated Coastal Parklands in a less-than faithful way; it's a circuit (well circuit theme anyway) from Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. I used TMInfinity to do so (TMI is a patch that allows one to use the track editor to change parameters like scale, movement and rotation as well as use any piece from any available environment).
Now, I am completely fried, and my brain is completely disorganized, lolz

"a labor of love, one that took a lot of f*cking"

Can't really blame him with a statement like that.

    4. PhoenixSoul

      @Kayzee, @Knighterius, @Animebryan, lolz

Heavily inspired, likely because when I play NFS: HP2, I play the Coastal Parklands circuits the most (there are three-two closed circuits and one point-to-point road race akin to the type of racing you'd expect from Rad Racer or Road Rash).

It's kinda funny; the theme consists of both coastal vistas and heavily forested areas in one area. It's the craziest mish mash of environments of the five themes (though on PC there's only four), with Island Oasis being right behind with both a volcano and a rainforest in reach of a populated area.

      The other three?
Wine Country (lots of winding and narrow curves with blind corners everywhere in a Mediterranean environment)
Autumn Trails (Taking to high elevation roads in the mountains and abandoned mines as shortcuts)
Desert Wastelands (console exclusive-Narrow passages through dusty cliffs and roadways through various military establishments)

I'm almost tempted to try my hand at recreating Empire City from NFS III: Hot Pursuit (a bonus circuit you unlock for winning Knockout on Expert). Almost. There's a lot of elements from that circuit that Track Mania United Forever doesn't have, nor does TM Infinity.

[RGSS3] Yanfly Equip Menu Addon Request

It almost sounds like something I might of seen before... That said, I'm not sure if it exists or not, or if it does, whether or not it had Yanfly's script in mind.
  14. Yep, this is depressing.

But don't worry about me. I gave it my best with the skill I had. I'm sure that if I had the ability to figure the complexities out, I'd be able to make this happen, but ultimately, it's time for me to either get results, or move on.

The former would require that those who know RGSS better than I do to aid, and that looks to be an impossibility unless I pay someone, which is also outside of my capabilities, so yeah. It's been fun, and I do enjoy working on stuff, but the goal post just keeps getting moved forward, and well out of reach alone.

    It's too much.

    1. PhoenixSoul

      Updating this:
I got something to work, after all the BS I went through with other things.

That said, it's really bad when one asks for aid, and ends up with the short end, on a cyclic pattern.
      Burnout exists, after all...

Anyway, that's just how it is because of uncontrollable circumstances, little to none of my causing. I can't help it if people are going to be stupid and ignore both compassion and common damn sense! lulz

I'm still a novice at Ruby who occasionally gets lucky; even if I took @Kayzee's advice on just tinkering with Ruby scripts, that's only part of gamedev, and that's where my heart lies is the whole thing, not just one piece of it.

It's like writing a story; if you only spend your time on the mechanics of one aspect, you're gonna forget about everything else pretty damn quick (which is why I've had a really hard time with my most recent story because there's one mechanic of the story lore that is really hard to put together and have it work with everything else).

No, I won't go into detail on said story here; Maturity Rank 3 stuffs, lol
