So, that's how the Humble Bundle works...
You pay that bit, and then you get EVERYTHING that comes with it.
lolz
I had expected it to be one of those 'choose your reward' kind of things, but no.
Through all of that, I got six games, countless resource bundles, and three game engines, one being a duplicate...
Goodness gracious...
Knowing that now, makes me glad that a kind soul aided me, and at the same time, if the next sale has more than one thing I want in a single tier...
Double-edge Sword...

I've been out and about all afternoon; my feet hurt, my back is killing me, and I'm hungry but too weak too cook.
But it is good to get out, which is kinda hard when you live in the middle of damn nowhere and have to drive or walk a great distance to go anywhere, even the store...
Picked up an application for Dollar Tree, maybe I'll get hired, and then MAYBE I CAN EVENTUALLY UPGRADE THIS DAMN COMPUTER.
...But seriously, why must I pay for it? Hell, after all Society has put me through, they should foot the damn bill.

@Kayzee- I never asked for your opinion. I didn't bother reading g your latest little rant as sure it's the same bullshit you always spew. I'm trying to talk to Phoenix and your arguing with me. What the fuck with you? You're noting more than a pathetic, whiny little bitch of an attention whore so us laughably narrowminded. I know-it-all who doesn't know when to shut the hell up. A brat who whines and bitches and moans but never lifts a finger to change anything. When's the last time you went out to protest so one of these causes you're so passionate about? Signed a petition? When's the last time you even voted. Don't talk the talk if you're too chicken shit to walk the walk. Go crawl back into your safescape, snowflake. Don't bother replying, I'm blocking your ignorant ass.

I was referring to this actually, but that probably works just as well if not better.
-
-
@Kayzee oh ya, that thing lol.
One of them is designed as a framework for letting other plugin devs define new effects for users so that users don't need to write code. The other is designed to be just "write whatever code you can think of"
The first one, being a framework, requires additional set up. And then you're stuck with limited note-tag parsing option.
The second one, you get multi-line code parsing. Definitely better.

Sounds like 1960's, 70's Psychedelic Rock to me...
Definitely a standard four string bass.
Here, this should be a blast from the past...
-
Well standard except for the extra frets anyway I guess. That whole album is done with custom instruments and uses half-flats and half-sharps you see, but I don't know how noticeable it is on that song, maybe it's more noticeable on this one? But yeah, it's definitely Psychedelic Rock, though it's only styled like it was from the 60's or 70's. The album really came out earlier this year. :3

Speaking of out-there rock music...
This here oughtta bring back memories...
Yeah, that was an awesome song, and I honestly want the song stems...

This ain't Skyrim; I've no realistic skill in Thievery...
Getting a job? I've been barking up THAT tree for ages...
Of course, anything heavy labor-related is out because...my strengths are intellectual. No one is looking to hire for that kind of strength, that I've seen.
Also, transportation; if the job is on the other side of Wichita, I'd be paying for the gas and that's not cheap. Aaaah...why, damn it...

I'm still having issues with Always, Sometimes Monsters tileset.
I dunno what to do at this point, and I'm so spread thin that any creative energy I get is wasted the moment I try to do anything with my current project.
I'm a wreck. I feel the pangs of angst, fear and loathing, and I am sick of the garbage. Just, take me home...I don't wanna be here anymore...- Show previous comments 20 more

Since I had to manually set that data (and for some tiles I actually wasn't sure at first how to set the data because I wasn't even sure what the fuck I was looking at lolz), I knew there would be mistakes made aplenty...
But yeah; it does not show that graphic everywhere; if it did, that would of actually been quite helpful. -
It's probobly a good idea to actually start making maps using the tiles first to see how they fit together and setting the tile's data based on that. Even so, remember it's your tileset data used for your game, so it's not really a mistake if your tileset data ends up being very different from the one in the original game or you use tiles in different ways. I don' think you really have to spend a lot of time guessing what a tile is for if you have no clue, just use it as whatever you want to use it as.
-
Quote...I don't think you really have to spend a lot of time guessing what a tile is for if you have no clue, just use it as whatever you want to use it as.
I agree, but one issue I have is that if I can't even guess at what it could possibly be, making up what it is in my mind is not something I find comfortable doing. I mean, I'm not looking at inkblots here, lolz
QuoteIt's probably a good idea to actually start making maps using the tiles first to see how they fit together...
Actually, that's what I usually do. Though, there are times when I'd rather get the underlying data done first, and that is usually the case when I have a lot of data to sort through (i.e. this tileset).
Quote...Even so, remember it's your tileset data used for your game, so it's not really a mistake if your tileset data ends up being very different from the one in the original game or you use tiles in different ways...
I haven't played the source game, so I don't even know if the tilesets are arranged in remotely the same manner or not. That said, I'd presume they're very likely to not be. I also don't even know if the source game uses VX Ace as the engine base, or if it's some other engine.

I recently had a privacy scare, and as a result, I looked into all accounts that were opened with my email. I'm glad that none of them were accounts I didn't open but there were a few I decided to deactivate anyway.
Yeah; not opening any new accounts or entering my email into anything for at least two weeks. Should give Yahoo time enough to fix their sh!t. -
I really liked the latest Humble Bundle sale.
A lot of great bargains, and a lot of reasons for me to be depressed over being in poverty.
I asked, so many times, pleaded, and I feel like I'm being taken for a joke.
That said, ask, and get laughed at, at least, that's how it works in this lie of a life I've no say in.
I do so much for others, can someone, at least once, do the same in return? Is it too much to ask?
You know what? Forget I said anything. Curse my mood swings, curse drowning in poverty, curse this mortal flesh prison.
I'll just let it all leave me.

So, net neutrality is gone.
With my very limited and fixed income, I know that Cox Communications will have their way with me...
So if I do vanish, this is why; I'm stretched thin as is, and if internet prices are to skyrocket, I won't have internet at all.

I'm glad I was able to grab the expanded Icon set as made by Avery and heavily edited by NPC, before this happened to it...

I actually wonder how well RM could handle the background work of drawing graphical objects like those you see in pretty much any rhythm game, especially games where there could be a lot of notes being drawn moving from the background forward...

@Kayzee That particular functionality doesn't even work well in the likes of Phase Shift.

I think there was one scripter that tried to implement new video playback features, but I'm not sure of how well it works since I have never tried it. I think it was Estriole...not sure since this was back in 2017 and I don't remember SHIT from back them other than a few things... xD

But if you gifted a key to somebody, who already has the software, then can't you ask that person to send you the key back and give it to somebody else? I don't understand what the problem is.
Either way, as we're talking before, I was waiting for weeks for a reply from one company. A tiny conversation with few messages took more than a month.
-
Here's the thing: When you have a centralized system, any system, there is going to be times where, for whatever reason, it dosn't work right. A bunch of times usually. There is a curve on which the investment in making the system more robust and able to handle more problems has diminishing returns. There is simply a point at which problems are no longer worth worrying over. What that point is is debatable, but the point still stands.
My point is, people don't and can't solve everything automatically or invest enough in support to solve problems for everyone quickly. They don't have the manpower, time, or money to do so, not when millions or billions of people on the net are possibly screaming at them every second, justified or not. But, and this is important, that dosn't mean you should stop screaming. Because it's the only way anything ever gets done.
Could there be a better way? Yeah, probobly. Even if no system is perfect people can still do better. Heck people have done better. But this kind of problem? This is the kind of thing you either need to accept is going to happen, scream and yell until someone answers, or refuse to have anything to do with the whole system to avoid.

So, now I have every RM engine.
A big thanks to @Radiant Arin for gifting me the MV engine; now I can focus more on gamedev (once I have a working computer again) rather than figuring out how to save money for an irregular sale (I'd have to be out of my f*cking mind to buy it at full price especially since I have only a fixed and very limited income which I rarely ever see any of...)
Of course, I still have the season pass to grab, and likely, DLC as well (the total cost for all of it is four figures-something's rotten in the state of Denmark there lol).
But before I even get into MV, I absolutely need to have better hardware; I cannot have screen flashes, lag, none of that nonsense. If I have to use a shaky DLL file to even get MV to run, then it's not worth it.

Call this a rant but I don't see anything wrong with a glass of wine being served to everyone at meal time, well, short of the very young who'd get pulverized juice.
The benefits of a single glass (yes, one glass and only one) of wine are greater than the the limited effects the alcohol may or may not have...or so I was taught...(but I know that this is true)

@PhoenixSoul Could be, but I think I am just picky.
-
I'm an anarchist; no rulers, no masters. Makes a lot more sense when put into practical application.
- Show previous comments 12 more
-
Le sigh... This is exactly what I was talking about.
Okay look. You two are looking at it all wrong. It's not about smashing the state and freeing all the little oppressed people. It's not about how to make sure the trains run on time when no one is in charge. I mean sure, that can be an aspect of it, but it isn't real core of anarchism.
Let me just ask a simple question: What is society to you?
Is it a tool to be used? Is it our purpose and function and without it we are lost? Is it a roadblock to getting what you really want? Is it a cruel oppressor that just feeds on people? Is it an amusing game?
There are all sorts of answers one could give to that question. What you choose to answer doesn't matter. But even just acknowledging that the question exists shows us something: That society is a thing that is not yourself. That the question is a valid thing to ask. That not everyone will have the same answer. Not everyone is going to treat society the same way, not everyone is going to want the same things out of it, some might not want anything at all. Not every one's ideal society is the same. And that's fine, not everyone has to agree. We still get along well enough, grumbles aside.
But you still get to choose that answer. It starts with you. Not any of the so-called world leaders. Not your boss. Not the people on the street. No. It's YOU. You choose to play along with their rules or to reject them. There are consequences for rejecting them. Yet people still do. And that is the core of anarchism. The realization that all of us, every one of us, have a choice. If you never thought you did before, you do now.
By saying this I am not saying rules and laws should be thrown by the wayside willy nilly. I am not saying we should rip down everything needlessly. I am not advocating with this any action or lack of action. Yes, I personally do think things could be done better, I personally do think society is at least a little oppressive in some ways, but those are my silly beliefs and even then I am not for outright abandonment of society, I just think it could use a bit more work.
The real core of Anarchism is simply acknowledging yourself as the master of your own heart. Is just letting yourself say no when your heart calls for it. Everything that follows is besides the point. Maybe human society would be better off if it was torn down and built anew, but I don't think it needs to go that far and would rather not have it get to that point. That doesn't mean there is nothing that might be worth fighting, but I am not going to rip everything down and make a mess.
-
I don't agree with you Kilo, but I follow your reasoning.
I feel like you're attempting to be diplomatic and provide a question in place of an answer, and that's admirable. You suggest "anarchy", though it sounds to me like what you're looking for is "personal responsibility".Regardless of semantics, the sentiment is difficult to disagree with.
-
I am more suggesting that the question is the answer in this case. At least to why you two don't see eye to eye so much on stuff like this. You both seem to be arguing in a more large scale way about society as a whole. I think you both fundamentally looking at society from a different lens.
Heh, 'personal responsibility'. In some ways anarchism is like the absolute rejection of any kind of 'personal responsibility'. and in other ways it may be the very embodiment of it? Funny that. But 'responsibility' is generally a word that makes me roll my eyes. It makes me think of a nagging mom. I rather that actions, or lack there of, speak for themselves.

-
Yeah, it is all well and good...
Indeed, a day isn't a very long time, but one must factor everything the individual waiting in limbo is already going through before just saying that.
Of course, I'm only saying this because that is how I think...I put myself in my own shoes and in the shoes of others.
-
@Rikifive Ya know, I had the same fun before. I think you just love to be pending on breaking pending things. XD
@PhoenixSoul Tbh, a day's wait time is nothing to my 382 hours worth of waiting, and by that number's logic and the program I was trying to get, it went from 25 hours to that, to 45 minutes, then went haywire.

If I knew more about how Ruby worked, I could probably figure out how to implement the features to the Materia script that I thought it could of used, but I really don't, so I've really just decided to put that part on hold.

Makes me wanna stalk people at major tech companies and slap them across the face whenever they have a bad idea. "Durr, I know! Let's add a system to windows that is by default on that lets anyone remotely log in to anyone's computer and do whatever they want!" *slap* "Herp, lets add a system that lets sites execute arbitrary code on a users computer!" *slap* "Duuhhh, lets have our system send everything the user tyeps to our servers!" *slap* Boy, just Microsoft alone will make my hand sore within a half hour.

I still think that script translations should be mandatory, especially if the language barrier completely makes the script's function too cryptic to know what it does by just looking at the title and syntax. But hey, that's just me, even if it makes total and complete sense.

@Cookie Ninja I can do music; my low-end computer cannot run MV.
What exactly are you looking for? BGM, BGS, ME, SE, theme, length...
-
Hey, but it's the same as with many other things. For example it's quite rare to see a game fully and properly translated to Polish, so many of the polish players have no idea what the story is about- they can only assume things based on cutscenes and what characters do in them, but when it comes to talk- it's nothing but irrelevant 'blah blah' to them. It's not as easy as you think it is to release something in many different languages. If somebody doesn't know English, it's not their fault for not releasing it in that language. If you think it is their fault, then please make something legit in Polish language, so that I could perfectly know what you've created. Are you up to that challenge?
Try using Google Translator. That's what I did with some scripts and at least I had the basic idea of what the script was doing. If you don't have time for that, then don't blame scripters for not having the time either.
Also please calm down with cursing. At the moment you're number one when it comes to use foul language. Be aware, that there are users under 18, so it's not appropriate to use that amount of curses in an offensive way, like you did.
(Perhaps I also should turn CAPS LOCK ON)
-
...
I won't go there, I'm better and greater than that.
Also, translate.google is garbage. It will work for simple things, in MOST languages, but some languages come out completely wrong, and there are even phrases that don't translate well, even from Spanish. I'd use an AVGN quote, but I'd get tagged as offensive.
No, I'm not the only one who uses profuse vulgarity, and I'm not even the strongest of vulgarity usage. I just happen to be the most visible, because I am the least constrained by 'societal norms'.
'Most users are under 18'
Most people know mainstream vulgarity by age 10. Not saying that everyone should use it, but 'shielding' is a bad practice in general. I will skip the psychology of it, mainly because I could write an essay on the matter and it is overall, irrelevant to the topic at hand which has irrevocably derailed now.
I will ignore further replies; it is obvious that I cannot say anything, without firing up some sort of controversy. I feel like one of those critics on YouTube, like SidAlpha or HighImpactFlix...

Here's some advice to my fellow gamedevs:
Unless you have a way (or seven) around any AI's hardcore cheating ways, don't allow your enemy AI to cheat.
I can officially tally Deadly Sin on the list of insufferable cheating AI. One-hit KO is fine; not being able to recuperate afterwards is CHEATING. When AI cheats, the player wins by default. Plain and simple. I never design cheating AI, and I'll eventually have a game made that gets revenge on every single cheating AI in existence!

@PhoenixSoul Have you ever considered that maybe your problem is trying to calculate everything with a 'balanced equation' in the first place? Life is chaotic and messy, and yet you seem to be looking at life as if it's a ordered system. It's like you see everything in just black and white without any shades of gray, let alone colors.
The thing is, I can't very well say you are wrong in the way you see the world, anymore then I could say a colorblind person is wrong in how they see the world. Heck, when it comes to color vision birds have humans beat since they can usually see ultraviolet, and the whole idea of 'color' is really just an abstraction in the first place. Does that mean humans see wrong? I say no. People say color only exists in the mind, but I say that we are seeing something in the world that means something.
I can't deny your feelings. I understand where you are coming from. The problems you see mean something, they are out there in the world. But I think sometimes you aren't seeing everything you could, or are seeing it but you are filtering it out because it doesn't fit the ordered grid you use to look at the world. I think if you could you would understand a bit better.
In short, I recommend you consult your pineal gland and commune with our lady Eris! You can always read the scriptures online. Maybe it will help!
@Amysaurus Society is broken though right? I think we can all agree on that even if we can't agree on how or why. Okay, okay, broken is a bit much. It's more like, a work in progress. It works fine for a lot of things but still has a few major bugs to work out.
-
@Amysaurus Okay. (Most artists tend to have disagreeing perspectives anyway, lol)
@Kayzee Bookmarked.
FTR, I was trying to give the perspective of a mathematical persuasion, but even that translates poorly.
It is hard to explain how I see things, because I see things through multiple lenses, if one will.
I have observed that my ability to see both the corruption and beauty of everything as well as the mathematics behind it, only makes me an outcast in every regard, at least, here that is the case.
One thing that I am never sure of, however, is the observance of these things via a computer screen, because I don't see anything but text and graphics. I can only make the best possible calculations via what I've observed offline.
That said, I know I'm not wrong, because one cannot truly disguise their intentions with text and graphics, just put a mask over them. I can still see corruption when it is there.
I know no one will agree with me fully, and it isn't what I expect. But to be treated like an idiot...beyond uncalled for. Nor is it remotely fair and definitely not balanced.
"Only a society based in equality and reputability is a fully functioning society." -Odinn, Governor of Honor
-
Just because I don't think you are wrong doesn't mean I think you are right either, but even so I don't think you are an idiot. I simply believe that what is corruption and what is beauty depends a lot on your point of view, and aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. I don't believe in things like 'justice' and 'balance', not really. I mean I agree they can exist, I just don't put my faith in them. Rather I trust in chaos and freedom, in my own heart to guide me. I have a feeling that would not fit in very well with the world you would want to create.
-
One of the things I've noticed with the help file in every RGSS iteration of RPG Maker is that it says that one can make something other than an RPG with it. I'm curious to know if someone has done this, to the letter of something like a racing game or a puzzle game or Hell, a shooter.
