I think quests could be an integral part of a game to learn more about the world if they are designed for it. Something investigative is always cool. I don't necessarily like, "fetch x item, get gold" and things like that... but I'll take it if it's something like, "fetch x item, get awesome bg story/lore/character info" in return. It's a learning experience, and I find it more rewarding than assets sometimes... but it's also good to have quests like that, as long as they're transparent. I don't mind doing some courier quest if it gives me some gold and I need it to buy weapons/items, etc. So, I think they should still be a part of the design. I don't necessarily find it lazy... as long as in the end they serve the character/player purpose.

I think that method you have there is nice and simple. I like the idea of crafting in games, but I always feel disheartened because I don't understand what goes with what. Have them laid out like that seems to be great for ease of use. Especially since it's just a base object and gem? If there is an outcome for ANY combination, that's great, because then I don't have to try and mix and match and find out nothing will come of it. I can just decide then and there if I like what shows up... and I feel like it also urges you to try out more combinations just to see what will come up if the success rate of creating something is 100%. Could become addicting! Of course, with a success on every combo, it could start to become a lot of work if you added more and more materials... but I think the added work would be worth it for the player's enjoyment. Regardless, I like what I see!

Hey there! My name's Cleric, and I frequent other RPG Maker sites under the same handle, rpgdreamer. Just wanted to mingle with a handful of other people, and I always find myself looking at links on this site anyway so I figured, enough lurking, get on in there! Hope to see you all around!
