Um, i like games of course.. mostly retro though.
I think i'm pretty good at art, though i have been talked down before when it comes to my art, people can be so critical.

I know one. SynthFont http://www.synthfont.com/ It let's you take midis, and apply a sound font to each track, and you can use multiple fonts and more, even use an instrument from different sound fonts for each track in the midi. Totally free! I been using it to remix old sega music to sound more like they were done on the snes. *laughs*

Using pictures in place of windows.

Yeah i'm having hell getting the look down i want, i figured it would be easier to skip messing with box placement and trying to duplicate boxes.. and just have a picture set as the back. A friend already helped me set up the status info to layout how i wanted, but it has one long box.. i'm just trying to figure out a way to have a box for each player's status during battle. And so far... can't quite get the aesthetic i want... i mean it's CLOSE but.. not quite there yet.

Going to go ahead and bump this since no one has even looked, plus it's been well over 3 days. I'm trying to figure what i have to put in Window_BattleStatus in order to tell it to replace using the window from the system folder, with using a picture. I would think someone would know something. I seen it done several times in XP.

Thanks Ocedic... yeah i figured that out either yesterday or before... i kept looking in the scripts for that >_<

This can be closed now, it's been solved... ended up getting help in another part of the forum.

I think this has been solved if anyone wants to close it. Would someone know how to tell a script to show a picture in place of a window and use a picture as a window? Or should i post a new topic all together for something like that?

Cool. By the way. Do you have any idea how to disable the command "Special" during battle? I have no use for Specials or even the "TP" feature that Ace uses.

Ohhhhhhhh that feature.... ugh.. i never could figure it out either.... crap... i feel useless now. No i could not do that... crap.. i ended up just putting guard in the list with everything else.... i seen you put that before... and i was like.. what? God.... i thought you put something about making the sliding stop going left to right...... I don't think their is a way to do that without some extensive scripting. I can't even get rid of the initial command box that says Action and Escape... jesus christ....that's even beyond what i know. I totally misread what you were having problems with.... *bangs his head on his desk* Crap.... I know another guy who was making an FF fan game.. he pretty much did the same thing, settled on leaving Guard in the same list as everything else.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I know what's causing that! I changed some scripting to make the box that gives you the messages in battle or the victory box would show at the top, it must be effecting the other boxes.. but it's not for me... Um, let's see... it's in one of the Scenes scripts... I told SOMETHING to force it to just pop at the top.... some how for you, it's causing problems.

What issue? The fact that i can't find what i did? lol >_<

It does indeed. Now i have to remember how i disabled sliding and just make the box go clear across.

Retro Final Fantasy Style Command Window

Okay, i tried to send the file in private but could not. Take it, unzip the file in it, and put it in a freshly made project in the Data folder. Then open the project and test the battle system. It should have everything how you want it.. i hope. Make sure the project is not open already when you insert the script, make the project, then close it.. and put the file in and then open again. I wish i could pin point what i did... but i can't remember, and i know it was in more than one script that i edited things. Scripts.zip

Spoilers are easy. You type spoiler in [] then what ever you want spoiled... then you type /spoiler in [] That's how ya spoil. It's there and you can do it, but they just don't got a button for it. I noticed another thread you posted requesting a Final Fantay styled display for battle.... i. KINDA figured that out a ways back, how to make it stop sliding, and how to make the window just appear and dissapear without doing the slide, i gotta go back and see how i did it... All i had to do was remove some lines in Scene_Battle and then change directly where the boxes would appear, sadly i can't seem to get rid of that initial command box. Since you're trying to help me, i will try and help you on that, i figured a lot of that out when i was just messing around trying to make a FF battle system with Victor saints scripts.

Sorry, i just modified the last post i made, it has nothing to do with any other scripts i might be using, i tried changing that one default script with a fresh project and it still groups them like that when i try and make changes. It has to do with where the name is placed, which is where it's told to show from left to right in rows going across from top to bottom, i just need to figure out how to tell the names, which is where it seems to start, to sit side by side, rather then bottom to top. #-------------------------------------------------------------------------- # * Draw Basic Area #-------------------------------------------------------------------------- def draw_basic_area(rect, actor) draw_actor_name(actor, rect.x + 0, rect.y, 100) draw_actor_icons(actor, rect.x + 104, rect.y, rect.width - 104) end #-------------------------------------------------------------------------- # * Draw Gauge Area #-------------------------------------------------------------------------- def draw_gauge_area(rect, actor) if $data_system.opt_display_tp draw_gauge_area_with_tp(rect, actor) else draw_gauge_area_without_tp(rect, actor) end end #-------------------------------------------------------------------------- # * Draw Gauge Area (with TP) #-------------------------------------------------------------------------- def draw_gauge_area_with_tp(rect, actor) draw_actor_hp(actor, rect.x + 0, rect.y, 72) draw_actor_mp(actor, rect.x + 82, rect.y, 64) draw_actor_tp(actor, rect.x + 156, rect.y, 64) end #-------------------------------------------------------------------------- # * Draw Gauge Area (without TP) #-------------------------------------------------------------------------- def draw_gauge_area_without_tp(rect, actor) draw_actor_hp(actor, rect.x - 164, rect.y+16, 134) draw_actor_mp(actor, rect.x - 164, rect.y+32, 76) end end I just need to tell it to move the name placement, and have it go across one name after the other. I just tried the same attempt with a fresh quest, it's giving me the same problem. I don't know how to change how it's grouped, by default it does like this. After i make changes to that specific script, it looks like this. And sorry, the changes to that script i made start at line 79, which is where the centralization of how the lines display starts, i don't know how to tell it to display each name left to right, rather than top to bottom. i think i'm wrong about it starting with the name. I have no idea how to get it how i want.... That would be the unchanged default script....

No, it's more along the lines of .. i changed other things having to do with the display of status information in the other Window_ scripts. That's what bugs me, there are no scripts for simply customizing what's there already, so then i end up having to go into all the default scripts and make changes to get desired layout of things. The sad part is, that's ALL i am capable of, is editing anything that already exisits... i'm no good at making scripts, but if you show me ANY script, i'm at least smart enough to sit there and edit what's there to make new things.... Yeesh... i suck. So NOW i gotta figure out what other changes i made that's effecting that, but i'm pretty sure it's just other parts of the scripts that display the HP and MP information, i had to change all those things to get what i wanted. I made changes to change how the status and command menu for the party displays how i want. I get tired of requesting things i need or want, because odds are the request will just be ignored.. so i do what i have to, to get things how i want them.. If i had the money, i would just commission Victor to make what all i need.... don't have those sort of funds though. So where should i go from here?
