Not really good at intros so forgive me, but I'm trying my hand at RPG Maker VXAce!
I recently got back from an Anime Convention in AC New Jersey: Anime Next, and they had a panel on Building an RPG. Ironically, nobody knew the panel was about using RPG Maker, lol.
Even still, we went and we really enjoyed the content of the panel, even though it was more about "RPG Maker is cool!" and less of "In order to do this in RPG Maker, you go here and select that..." so I've got a lot of inspiration but zero actual knowledge of the program.
I took it upon myself to watch the tutorial series on YouTube by Venthros and now at least know the basics.
Some of the advice given by one of the panel members was "Make your first game SMALL." I'm definitely going to take his advice. After actually putting my hands on this I can tell there is A LOT that can be done and I'd hate to overwhelm myself to early in.
Though I'm new to RPG Maker I'm no stranger to building and developing storylines. I have a vast collections of Worlds, Characters, and Plots written down across many hard disks, flash drives, web forums and Google Docs than span about 17 years. RPG Maker feels like the perfect medium to actually start putting that content into motion. I'm probably going to need a lot of help though.
And that's ultimately why I'm here.
I'd love to get to know more about the possibilities of this system and hopefully create something worth sharing with the community. I've got tons of ideas, the vast majority actually written down, so I hope you guys don't mind if I stick around a bit to borrow and share experiences.
Thanks in advance!
