    Not Me Mapping Critique

I wouldn't just play with the brightness, but the saturation... Go for a more grey/less color than just less bright... This will give a gloomy almost dark feel before you even touch the lighting scripts. Aside from that, the maps look good to me so far... I agree with above on the outside, seems like it's missing something...
  3. Thanks! While this is my first game from start to finish *crosses fingers* I've been a lurker around here and with the various makers in the past (vx, vxa, xp, and way back to rmk2003)... love the programs, just been more of a hobby... would love to do a commercial game at some point (custom art and everything), but I'm determined to finish a small game beginning to end to prove to myself I can do it... Part of the reason for posting it here... some accountability and push from yall to keep me going.
  4. Welcome to the world of Etheron - a land of magic, legend and old school gimmicks. Seriously though, this game takes place in a fantasy world that I hope to use as the base for future games. Primarily, this game is to force me to sit down and finish. Which is part of the reason why I am posting here. I want your feedback. I have a demo attached and would love you to try this out. I don't want this to be an extremely long game, but something with a decent story and some fun. So sit back, hit that download button and try it out, please! Download the Demo here. Changelog: Download the Demo here. Thanks!!!
  5. Just finished the demo and all I can say is... Wow . I usually skimp over horror games made in Ace, but your beautiful art made me do a double take... Love babyface, and this definitely brings back some nostalgia of playing the first Silent Hill. I think you guys are on to something really great here and I look forward to seeing more!!!
  6. Been a while since I've even thought about RPG Maker... time to dust off the old creative hat

  9. The Mercenary Hero (Working Title): Genre: Fantasy RPG Game Progression: I have the majority (85%) of all my maps done and am currently making my way through the main storyline. After which I plan to develop the sidequests and detailing. I hope to have a demo out in the next week or so. Story Character Bios Credits

    Naval Side Quest Idea

Sounds cool, just make sure to hint or tell the player this early on enough that he or she can make sure to do the arc if they want to experience that effect. Good call. I'm thinking part of the early story, the player should be sent to the naval office to complete one of the main story arcs and from there he/she has a choice either to work on the side-arc or just bypass it for the main story. That way it can't be missed and the option is there within the main story.

    Naval Side Quest Idea

Rewards for completing missions would be extra gold or special loot. However, if the player completed the whole side quest arc, then it will have an affect on the end of the game. I really like the sound of that! That would be a great idea. Thanks for that!
  13. Fleshing out the story for my game.... :D

    Naval Side Quest Idea

Ok. So trying to roll around an idea and I need some input/critiques/ideas. In my game, in the port town, I am hoping to include a set of side quests where the player can go to the naval office and sign up for various naval missions. Once at sea, I'm trying to come up with some different ideas. Starting off one would be doing small mini game missions such as "swabbing the deck" (possibly a twist on whack-a-mole) and as one gains reputation with the naval office they would gain rank and be able to do other mini-games and missions (I'm thinking sea monster battles, island excursions, etc.) What are your thoughts? Would this be an interesting series of side quests? What are some other ideas or thoughts do you think would enhance this? Thanks in advance, -Ron
