Game website Game download (Mega) Current version 1.0.0 Bhavacakra (Meaning the Wheel of Life) is a fantasy RPG game made in RPG Maker MV. The game is typical in a sense that nothing stands out. It has a main plot, choices, and side quests. The focus of this game is lives, people's lives. And their lives are side quests. This game boosts 100+ side quests in around 30 ~ 40 hours gameplay. There are also three endings with one ending leading to post game world. You play as Juan, a young country man from a village of Loche. There is a rumor that a war is going to break out. As you explore the world, the war does break out, leaving you three choices. You can either fight for your country OR fight against your country. And, finally, you can turn your back on the war. Whichever choice you make, Juan's life changes for good. There are several things I focused while making this game. The game world is consisted of four nations, with each nations containing about 2 major cities and 3 ~ 4 small villages. There is an exception though; there is an off world nation. All in all, I consider the game world to be fairly large.I did mention 100+ quests. They are side quests. Few get complicated and will go into post game. Some are hard. Some are simple fetch quests. But side quests will have stories to tell. This game is about lives. Oh, and defeat the big evil thing. Actually, no, there is no real evil being to defeat in the game. But the wheel of life works in mysterious ways.Monsters do not drop money at all. Why should they? They drop their body parts instead. You either sell them to proper places (trading posts) for bigger profits or use them to cook.Main characters and other important characters have unique CG portrait. The game also contains CG scenes I made. You can pursue your relationship with your heroine all the way into marriage if you so desire. Characters This is Juan, the main character of the game. You will control him and make decisions for him. Depending on your choices, he can become an adventurer or he can fight for his country against a national invasion or even fight against his country. 21 years old at the start of the game. Sue is pretty much the heorine of the game. She becomes Juan's girlfriend shortly into the game and marries Juan if it is his choice later on. Seemingly carefree, she has some darkside to her due to her lonely upbringing. She starts out as a village hunter and later becomes a professional archer. 22 years old at the start of the game. Decon is a scholar from Alcella. He is intelligent but sometimes lacks common sense. He is found captured by Red Turban bandits and rescued later on by either Juan or Maco. After that, he tags along with Juan. Depending on Juan's choices, he may leave the party. 29 years old at the start of the game. Marat is a weapon vendor. Well, she is a weapon seller in Cizna department store. She is under heavy debt when found by Juan. After getting her out of debt, she joins Juan and Co. Depsite of her petite physique, she acts mature and can persuade people a lot better than others. Age unknown.

Game Title: The Legend of Gaia - The Awakening of the 5th Order - Abstract: LoG is a typical RPG game in which the player has to take up the role of young hero Vaun who has to save the world from the strengthening 5th Order. The four existing Orders of Gaia are guarded by the judges. These judges have been announced from the supreme goddess called Ipsae in order to maintain peace. After Arcadia, the 4th Order, has been the victim of a malicious attack, Judges are sending out Promoters into the world in order to find out the reason. Genre: fantasy RPG Game Progression: The Game is 90% completed. The first beta is available now (2hours of playtime; 1st Order) Recruitment: - Demo/Playtime: 2 hours; complete game 12+ Story / Setting / Purpose: Gaia & The 4 Orders The world of Gaia has been surrounded from the magic energy of the Oceanus thousands of years ago. Goddess Ashizka formed Gaia by combining a sand grain and magic energy. He added water from a teardrop of affection, all animals and plants life were aspirated with devotion. 1st Order of Verdona Verdona’s Order surrounds especially the area of Verdona lowlands, the Verdona Highlands as well as Verdona Forest. Verdona is located in the northwest of Gaia and verges with its beach on the Oceanus. Capital is Verdona City. Incendiam is a city in Verdona and hometown of the main character Vaun. More people live in the lowlands of Verdona. 2nd Order of Terda Terda’s Order is located eastward from the Verdona lowlands and borders in the south on the 4th Order of Arcadia. Terda can be distinguished by its sparse deserts and an extensive cave territory. Capital is Terda City and it is the only inhabited part of this world. In the outmost east of Terda, the steep cliffs verge on the Oceanus. 3rd Order of Merodium The Order of Merodium is placed in the heart of the world Gaia and constitutes, combined with the Katana Mountain, the highest point of Gaia. The capital Merodium City is located on the peak of the mountain. Through the city you gain access to the inner mountain in which the inhabitants of Merodium have built their houses. 4th Order of Arcadia The 4th Order of Arcadia is the most southern Region of Gaia which is completely surrounded by the Oceanus. Huge amounts of this Order have already been destroyed so that Arcadia City as well as a few surrounding small islands are the only places left intact. Because of the almost complete destruction of this very peaceful appearing 4th Order, their sanctuary has been eliminated as well. Eridium Eridium is a magic ore from the depths of Merodium’s Katana Mountain. Its magic features disable the usage of dark magic energy beyond sanctuaries. Eridium can be used in order to strengthen weapons and armors. Eridium crystals can be found prior in sanctuaries and can be distinguished in black ( strong) and white (weak) crystals. These Eridium crystals can endow Servants and their armor, shield or attack with further power. Oceanus The magic worldstream Oceanus surrounds the world of Gaia. Goddess Ipsae as well as every animal and every plant carry the energy of the Oceanus within them. Servants are summoned from the most inner part of the Oceanus and concentrate an enormous amount of magic Oceanusenergy(OC) Monoliths There are monoliths in every Order. These were built by the united forces of the judges and are supposed to stop the strengthening of the 5th Order. The Eridium’s magic features, from which monoliths are produced, is preventing the 5th Order from summoning dark creatures. Sanctuaries After the Arcadia sanctuary has been destroyed, only three sanctuaries still exist. These sanctuaries inhabit the guardians and nurture every animal, human and plant with lifeenergy. The guardians also check the promoter’s strength. In case a promoter proves himself to a guardian, he receives a magic splinter. These magic splinters can be used for the production of Eridium armor and they give the promoters an incredible strength as well. Promoter (PMT) Every Order of Gaia is training and educating their own Promoters. They fight against the evil and for justice. Promoters are able to rank-up by completing tasks. Every Promoter is provided with a Servant by conjuration. Servants (SVT) Servants are the summoners of Oceanus’ power who possess the most different abilities and classes. Water,Ice,Fire,Nature and Stone are the exisiting classes. Servants have their own will, accept their Promoters as their masters though. Without a Promoter a Servant can’t exists permanently. Character Bios: Vaun Vaun grew up in the town of Incendiam in the first Order of Verdona. Since he’s been little he tries to take after his father and become an outstanding Promoter. He already mastered the entrance test. Before he will be able to safe the World of Gaia though, he has to attain to the 1st of three Promoter ranks. Auron This servant belongs to the class of fire which is the strongest of all Servants. As only the potential of a servant can be summoned by the Oceanus, there is not much known about his existing experience or memories. Ipsae There is little knowledge about the genesis of goddess Ipsae. The old time’s wise man assume that goddess Ipsae has been formed by her Godfather Ashizka from the tides of the magic worldstream Oceanus before he dissolved into the Oceanus after millions of years. Known is that she since then watches over Gaia and tries to keep the dark, evil magic away from Gaia’s inhabitants. Eya folks! I'm here with another good question, but before I start, let me state why this topic is here. In my project, considering I lost it twice and had to restart twice, I've decided on a new theme of demons and dragons. Someone in the crowd: "Don't you think Scalvose is a little too dependent on dragons?" Me: No. I try to keep a large pool of diversity of creatures, and thus I use many different already known creatures in addition to Scalvosian creatures, like the Chaingra and Drake Worm. But now, with the presence of three new characters being fleshed out in my head and wanting to use them in the new Scalvose game, I decided on a story line based on a child and her mother being experimented on. The main antagonist is researching DNA swapping and ways to change everything but the mind, and he ultimately succeeds with dragon and albatross blood, using demon blood as a sub-glue to hold the prior together. The demon blood actually corrupts the mother and opens a rift for actual demons to enter into Scalvose's domain. The child, later named Ano (A-new) escapes with dragon and vulture blood in her, leaving room for one more creature/animal. Now, getting to the question, I don't really want to copy/paste the child like her mother, which is dragon, demon (which is later removed to be a Shimunir [A white-red bird with a role to play in the story, but more on that later]), and albatross. What should the child's last creature/animal mixing consist of, in your folks' opinion, and is using chimeras a good way to create a story line?

Lately I have experimented with writing stuff in Anglish. That is, a version of English that gets rid of a lot of the words that come from french and other languages. Like for example, in a poem I posted in the comments of this blog post. I mean, it kind of takes forever, but it might be a kinda fun way to spice things up in writing. Might be better to drop thee/thou/ye/etc. though, I am not sure if I correctly internalized their grammar. Also 'unwizen' is probably wrong and it is more correct to say 'unwiz', but I like the construction of using 'wiz' as a noun and -en modifying it into a verb. Anyway, if I were to make a whole game where everything possible is written in Anglish, what do you think people would think?

Seeking > He(Or She) who bends the art of drawing to their will.
Daena Grey posted a topic in Recruitment
Hello hello, RPG Maker Central! It has been quite some time since I last appeared, and so many things have changed-but what has not changed, is that I... ... I am still attempting to complete this project. After two to three years... I am still attempting to create a story-not exactly a fairy tale, I could say. And I have finally had enough of dealing with it alone-thus, my presence here is explained! What I am looking for-is a man, or woman, or younger, with the talent to hold a pencil-or a brush, and create masterpieces. Or... Just greatness. I am a horrifying artist when it comes to such an art-And I wish not to dabble, as I have tried multiple times, failing, miserably. The game I have attempted to create is set in a slightly dark atmosphere, although it tells of a fantastic and very anime-like story, coated in heroic moments and yet, tragic falls-and tales beyond dreadful. What exactly am I Looking for, in specific? Someone who is capable of drawing Character sprites-and animations/alternative stances. (In Example: Fighting Stances; Asleep; Dead; Unconscious; Casting and so on.) Someone who is capable of drawing Facesets-That match the sprites. Someone who is capable of drawing sketches-of events happening in-game, possibly anime-styled. (In Example: A Handshake between two characters meeting for the first time; The Main Villain towering over a Character, looking as menacing as ever.) Someone who is capable of drawing Battlers-Battles do have quite the meaning, y'know? Especially when it's Kill or be Killed... (... Brb that is getting old) But, that's about it I suppose. I cannot think of anything else-that I would require for my project. On a quick note-while I would love to hire professionals that can do masterful work and all-I am on such a limited Budget, and for such a restricted public, that I deem it not worth to waste the time of professionals. If a kind soul-with such skills, who does have some free time, would be both willing and able to join me in this Project, sharing some of their time to put their artistic talents to use, I would be most grateful. This has been one huge aspiration of mine-and I wish to see it through, to the very end. With a courteous bow for having spent some time in reading this thread-I thank thee, reader, and eagerly await for the one who will aid me in reaching this goal of mine. ~Daena Grey/FreezeKirby.-

Fate of Mystria - A (free!) Traditional Fantasy RPG (In Progress)
jbxstudios posted a topic in Games in Progress
(Due to one reference to tobacco-usage and one brief reference to sex; other than that, it's pretty much PG). Game Title: Fate of Mystria (free to play) Abstract: Catruya Auroran, a young innkeeper, visits her boyfriend, Xhalite Elza, in the countryside of Nungia after months of not seeing him. After getting the approval of Xha's father, they agree to move to the large city of Port Cyros and get married. Unfortunately, Fate had other, far greater plans... Genre: Fantasy/RPG Game Progression: The game has just begun. I intend to make it pretty long. It'll be at least 6mo-1yr before it is complete (estimated). Recruitment: N/A at this time Average Demo Time: 20-30 minutes long. Story / Setting / Purpose: Fate of Mystria is set in the medieval fantasy realm of Mystria (Year 1106 of the 4th Age). It features four main characters: Catruya Auroran, Xhalite Elza, Xate Elza, and Tiel Kiri. They were brought together by Fate to fulfill their destiny- to become the reincarnations of the "White Wizards." The White Wizards were the First Mystrians. When they left the World after the First Age, discord soon followed. In the Second Age, turmoil rocked the landscape, as warring nations and corrupt men took control of the Birthground (Hallovania - where the White Wizards came into the world). This land, in the Third Age, after the conflicts stopped, was taken over by Zyaji Dakbrude for the last part of the 3rd Age. They say that the (now godhead of a relatively new religion) Queen of the Alhari slew him in the last battle of the Third Age, with her dying in the process and becoming a goddess- supposedly. Dark forces gather now in the land once known as Hallovania (now it is a territory called Yovania) that seek to cover the realm in eternal Night. The Sixth Year of the War between Nungia and Yovania has come. The once allied state of Fyera has turned on the Nungians with the election of their new chancellor. Now, Nungia fights a war on two fronts: Yovania to the West, Fyera to the North. Tiagor, the Island-Nation East of the coast of Nungia, has not yet made a move in the War. Our Heroes inevitably get dragged into this conflict as Fate has willed it... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is my first MV Project! I hope to learn a lot over the course of working on it! Also, yes, it is 100% free to play. This is not how I make money, so I am glad to make it free! Character Bios (in order of appearance in game): Catruya Auroran - The main character. She's in love with Xhalite. She was once an innkeeper, but when she met Xhalite, she soon gave that life up and ended up becoming involved in a massive quest spanning two continents. She is an immigrant from Fyera before the War began. Class: Mage Hometown: Zaverai, Fyera Likes: Mead Hates: when people get in her way Xhalite Elza - A kind and confident, maybe even foolish at times, young man with a talent for wielding a sword, and he has a good heart. Cryptic: The Journey to a Wondrous Completed Masterpiece of Modern Gaming
Saturnity posted a topic in Artwork Gallery
Okay, this is the one thread where I'm going to be actually (mostly) serious. I'm going to dedicate it to my up and coming (eventually, in a couple years probably, or never... kinda depends ) Fantasy Horror game called ~É”â„œÓ‹Ê âŠ¥Ê€~ Did I make that hard enough to read? Ugh that's the point! Fine... so pushy =T ~CRYPTIC~ I'll make a flashy and much nicer looking title later, but this'll do. This is purely an art/audio thread for getting opinions on the more aesthetic aspects of the game. As bonuses, I'll occasionally splash some early concept artwork into the mix. Just to be clear, all of the artwork and audio in the game (sprites, parallaxes, etc) is going to be crafted by none other than myself, and unfortunately I won't let anyone use any of my resources. It's not that I don't LOOOOVE sharing, however, this is a story I've put my heart and soul into, and I just can't see it fitting into any other project. Anyway, with that out of the way, here is my first spoiler for the game. Enjoy! ~scatters cookies everywhere flamboyantly~ TITLE SCREEN BACKGROUND CONCEPT ARTWORK I'll be attempting to make weekly uploads of progress images concerning my game. I currently work full time, however, so I don't really know if I'll be able to stick to that idea, but I'll do my best, I hope you all enjoy! -
*Note: This game is still in it's very early stages and subject to change! Torn from your everyday existence, you must survive a war torn dimension while dealing with things you barely knew about yourself. Welcome to Amachyria, a strange realm where two dimensions overlap in even stranger ways. Two different races have inhabited this realm for as long as time can remember: the Elder beings, and humans not too different from us, living in relative harmony. By the time you get there of course, everything has all gone downhill after a new monarch took over, and now this quirky, strange realm has been plunged into war. Of which, you are now caught in the middle. Amachyria is hardly the only strange thing around, you have lived in your old home for ages, so why does this place seem so familiar? Where do these powers come from? Only the guardian can answer that, and she won't talk until this war is put to rest. She seems to be hiding something, but staying alive long enough to find out will take strength, wits, and the ability to deal with the strange companions that will join you on your quest to stop this endless fighting. Be clever and take the hints the universe gives to you, and more pieces of this puzzle will reveal themselves to you. A good warning to keep in mind, however, is that the queen is not the greatest threat you will face on this journey, and certainly not the last. Features - Nearly full custom tilesets and graphics, done by yours truly - A full crafting systems for making armor, weapons, and more, by Coelocanth - A predicted charge turn battle system by Yami - An options menu so you can tune everything to your liking! By V.M of D.T - Full busts for every character that matters! - Custom skills for each party member, with animations art by Timmah/LexusX - An adorable bunny merchant who has everything an enterprising peace bringer should have (at that point in the game at least) - Three unique bosses to beat, along with 11 distinct enemies and - a key part of any fantasy adventure - the final boss! - Lots of puzzles to solve before moving on to different areas Again, a warm welcome to Amacyria, the strangest place this side of the universal rubicon. Divided into five distinct areas (That you're allowed into anyways), all provide something... interesting. to the world of Amacyria, probably things you take for granted here. The first that comes to mind is the empty fields. This was probably a really cool place at one time, but torn apart by war, it's just wilderness and buildings now. This is where you start, and may even return to at some point. Nonetheless, many things you learn to survive are learned here, but the only thing that matters anymore is the guardian's temple, which stands abandoned and yet perfectly intact. If you ever become lost, the guardian may provide some insight. Then there's the Valley of Color, where if you're eyes aren't burning out of your head from over-saturation, you're not doing it right. Everything here is always very bright and vivid, except for the people, who prefer pastel shades strangely enough. All the color in Amycyria is mined here to be used for all sorts of things. Why, if it didn't exist, everything would probably look like a blank coloring book. And we couldn't have that, now could we? Next up comes with Peaks of Equation, a strange place where everything seems to have been cut to razor precision at perfect angles. Nothing about this place looks natural in the slightest, even the flowers seem to grow in textbook geometric formations, and all sorts of neat things can be discovered in the mountain caves. Neat, that is, if you enjoy math, algebra, and the like. Even if you don't, you do have to appreciate their use in life, and this is where it all comes from. In Amycyria at least. Semi-finally, is Sugar plains, which is just the stuff of dentist nightmares as it sounds like. The grass is candy, the trees are candy, even the houses. the wildlife, and the water are all some kind of candy. They've developed a special sort of magic to help normal plants grow, which is the only reason hypertension doesn't run rampant, but I wouldn't suggest breathing the air too long without brushing your teeth anyways. And flossing, just to be on the safe side. Your journey will no doubt bring you across many strange things, places, and especially people. Many are there to help you, some seem ambiguous, and another just wants your money. First, let's define three terms: Human - your average, everyday person Elder Being - A strange race of beings that mostly appear as shadows. However, the more human they look, the more powerful they are. Shifter - People gifted with the power to take the shape of some creature or another, mostly at will Isleen, the main character The little girl you play as! despite her small size and young age, she is very smart and won't stand to be pushed around. Andra, the guardian The mysterious guardian of something. Despite her ambiguous title, she seems to be the one who put you here, and the one with all the answers. Atheria, the priestess Atheria is one of the few Elder beings who managed to resist the queen's control and escape. She heads the resistance movement against the queen and helps other survivors. Jevith, the teacher A patient Elder being a few years older than Atheria, he is kind and peaceable, and thus has no love for this war. But he was a fighter once, and will teach you everything he knows. Princess Veria, the fifth A native citizen to the valley of color, she is cheerful and more than a little quirky, sometimes seeming to be in a different world entirely. Rith, caught between worlds Hailing from the Peaks of Equation, Rith seems neither Elder being nor Shifter, and isn't welcome with either of them. No one is sure how his impossible existence came about, but it's usually the least of his worries. Camille, the merchant If there is two things Camille loves, it's collecting things and money, so he sells things he collects for money. Don't let his cute appearance fool you, he can lug around things (and money!) several times his weight. *Note that a lot of this is all a work in progress and subject to change The battle system (Getting an overhaul, temporary screenshot!) A small mockup to showcase some of the completed tiles (More will be added later) Every color in this image has been saturated to the extreme for the valley of color. Except for the sprite of course. Credits *Note that as this game is still in progress, this section may grow and change with time Battle engine and charge turn battle system done by Yami Crafting system by Coelocanth Options menu by V.M of D.T (A.K.A Vlue) Animation art by Timmah/LexusX The graphics done so far, all by me Menu/Save/Shop engine all done by Yanfly Face to bust script done by Galv

+death is just the beginning+ +Genre+ Fantasy Real-Time RPG +Game Progress+ Story: 100% (Planned in detail, In-Game: 15%) Maps: 30% Database: 60% Music: 0% (Looking for a composer) Art: WIP (Looking to hire for enemy sprite art) I'm currently using RPG Maker MV mash ups w/minor edits and edited battle sprites x.x +Updates+ Please check the DevLog for updates! (I try to update at least weekly if not more frequent) Demo V.1 Release Date: 7.20.16 - Updated: 7.23.16 - Download below Demo V.2 Release Date: TBA +Story+ The world of Perception was once three seperate Planes of Existence: Nirvana, Damnation, and the world of humans (the living). When Lucifiel betrayed God (or so the stoy goes...), he began to form his army for the day when the seal seperating the worlds would be broken. When this occured, the worlds formed a mishmash of each other called Perception, kind of like a limbo. God had a protector named the Valkyrie and under her the Four ArchAngels, but most of them have disappeared or resorted to the demons' side. Also missing is the Valkyrie's weapon and the key to binding the seal again: the Lance of Longinus. The merging of worlds has left many in confusion. The geography of the world completely changed. Races have gone extinct and new ones, like the dangerous anamoly of Witches, has emerged. Other remaining Races like the Drag-Ons, Reapers, Kitsune, Aurochs...were all thrown into chaos. Not only that, but Lucifiel and the 3 ArchDemons are planning an assault on Perception. In Eve of Perception, you play as Matthew, a young man who fell from the sky. He stumbles into two Marines (Jou and Alec) who have just fled from a massacre of a battlefield. Unconscious, the soldiers take Matthew to a nearby village and the orphanage within in hopes he lives through the night. Jou has her own problems as the monster that slaughtered her troop is still in the forest, blocking the only way home, and it seems their mission, to find a group of renegades called the Eight-Span Crows, has failed. Matthew awakes with little memory, but knows that his sister is in danger and vows to find her. Jou tells Matthew of an Agency in her hometown that can help him locate his missing sister, and they join forces. Things become complicated when one of the orphans goes to fight the monster in the forest himself... + Main Characters+ +Supporting Cast+ +Battle+ +Features+ +Screenies (Screenshots)+ (image heavy) *Screenshots showing RTP characters are out of date, but most are updated to the current build +Other+ This has been a long time project of mine. I started with RPG Maker 2K3 and have worked with the maker since. This game is based on a novel I started a decade ago. The plot is completely planned out with extensive backstories for everyone. I know it's an ambitious project. I know it's gonna take a year or so, which is why I'm pacing myself and leaning on the support of age-old friends ^^; My main influences are Star Ocean and the Lunar series, so expect something similar to those titles. ^^ I really hope you enjoy and support my project! Thanks to Mog's RTBS I can finally have the game I've dreamed of making! If you have any feedback or comments or want to apply for beta testing demos, leave me a comment or shoot me a message!! +Hiring+ Note for all positions: If you can work with a payment plan, I'm interested! All credit will be given and at least 50% payment upfront. If you're really gracious and work for free, you'll be given special thanks and included as an NPC in my game. ^^ +Credit+ +Demo+ +Support+ Please use the banner above to support Eve of Perception! You can also donate towards not only this game, but other projects (as a collective) at our Patreon! Mods, if there's anything that needs to be added/changed (I think I didn't leave anything out... o.o ), just let me know and I'll get right on it. I updated the tag; I hope that was the right thing to do.

I was thinking about what "Fantasy" as a setting/genre actually means to me and why I would include some works and not include others. In my mind there are roughly five types of fiction: Realist, Speculative, Fantasy, Metafictional, and Surrealist. They can be thought of as a scale from most grounded in reality to least, but the lines are not always that clear cut. Realist fiction covers stories that are explicitly set in a world that is identical to "real life", or at least a world that differs form real life in ways that can be fully explained by a little artistic license or a lack of research. Speculative fiction means it is set in a world that is assumed to be like real life except when it's explicitly not. Fantasy means the world operates on very different metaphysical rules and diverges sharply with anything that can be thought of as realistic. Metafictional fiction means the story is it's self about and based of the rules of a story. Surrealist fiction means there are hardly any rules and most things are purely symbolic, random, and/or just look cool. There is overlap between these categories of course, but for the most part a lot of things labeled "fantasy" can fit snugly in other categories. A lot of fantasy I would count as more speculative or just surreal. It's a hard balance to make sometimes. Too over the top and nonsensical and it seems more like surrealist fiction. Too grounded in reality and focusing on building a realistic world with some odd elements that change things up and it seems more like speculative fiction. Also, to me there is a difference from plain old fantasy and real capital F "Fantasy". Real capital F "Fantasy" means a setting that is based around the "fantastical". The classic example of "Fantasy" is the works of J. R. R. Tolkien such as The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings. However, I don't really think most of his imitators really fall into capital F "Fantasy". Why? Because they tend to stick with a set formula. Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs do not make a story into capital F "Fantasy". Tolkien included and defined Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs as fantastical and original elements in his stories without any common formula to fall back on, even if they were named based on myths. The element of the fantastical requires a lack of formulas and preexisting rules. Oddly another good example of real capital F "Fantasy" that I can think of is The Legend of Zelda. Now you may at first glace think it's just another Tolkien rip off, but it's really not (or if it is, the cultural barrier between the English book and the Japanese game creators has introduced enough originality to offset it). All of the races and monsters are vastly different, the way the world works is quite unique, and even as far back as the original game the setting seemed just a bit more fantastical then Generic RPG World 452. I guess the Final Fantasy series counts too, but it seemed to me to barely introduce more then a handful of original interesting elements before veering hard into over the top sci-fi surrealism so fast that I am not sure what it can be counted as now. What do you guys think? I was gonna post this as a blog but I think I would like to see some discussions about it, because I am not sure if my way is the best way to look at it or not. After all, I am always saying how much I hate to use formulas or lump things willy nilly together, but I thought I would talk about how I tend to see it.

For my game, I've been using a mish-mosh of tilesets (mostly Celianna's brillancy, with some RTP stuff thrown in as well) and working on the maps for the main town. These three are my favorites (so far) that I've made. I really just want some feedback on what I'm doing right, what I'm doing wrong, what I should improve on or get rid of entirely, etc. Any CC would be appreciated!

93 years ago, the last bomb was loosed to deliver its final message of destruction & chaos at the close of the Shattering War. Society wasn't completely wiped out, but it was close. 'Humanity' seemed to have left the world, and man-shaped beasts with weapons were all that remained, roaming the desolated earth, and furtively battling each other for motives beyond the reproach of logic. Nobody really knew what the fighting was about to begin with. Certainly none of the soldiers and none of the populations of the planet. There were no indicators of any animosity between nations but one thing led rapidly to another, and before anyone could blink, armed soldiers were blowing each other to bits, while bombs razed entire cities. Fighting went on, somehow, for 10 years, massively reducing the world's population to a fraction of the previous 19+ billion inhabitants. It was the Human Race's long prophesied twilight, our dark, self-destructive fantasy of erasing ourselves from the face of the planet was finally coming to fruition. Eris & Enyo were having a field day. When the fighting ceased, just as suddenly and mysteriously as it had started, the scant remaining inhabitants on each of the continents were brought together and given shelter in the Consolidated Cities, a network of 7 cities built in varying locations about the northern continent, each with populations reaching into the tens of millions, with the largest reaching nearly 80 million residents. These cities are linked together by a high speed train system, since unapproved travel methods through the wastes is discouraged, I.E. anyone who voluntarily exits through city gates will not be allowed to reenter upon their return. The citizens are allowed to, at any time, inform the city they will be leaving, and upon the exit be fitted with a device which will bar their entry from the cities electronically. Any found to be on the registers and without their device are immediately apprehended and taken to... no one knows where, exactly. The few brazen enough to regain unauthorized access to any of the cities are usually regarded as crazy or delusional, since it is widely believed that the Wastelands are filled with potent neurotoxins which would melt the mind of an average man before the day had closed. Civilization has been at peace with itself for 93 years. Humanity learned a few hard lessons from the Shattering War and has diligently been employing them in an effort to never return to our barbaric past. Society has developed methods of providing for all the population, while making any kind of physical labor unneccessary, though some still took up occupations in various fields to while away the time. Outwardly society at large has finally achieved peace with itself, but the vast majority of the population feels a deep longing for something more. Something primal, unfamiliar... and yet, strangely comfortable. Something that would have once comforted our ancestors, but we seem to have lost our path. Advances in science only seem to deepen this calling, and causes an uneasiness in every individual who lacks that contact. For many, they simply visit a doctor and have a medicine prescribed to them for their anxiety, or whatever may be troubling them. Some few heretics dare to see the 'Witchdoctors', the raving lunatics on the fringes of society who claim to be in contact with Spirits and myriad ethereal intelligences. The mages, the shamans, the witches. All claim to be privy to a world beyond the five senses. All are officially banned from practicing their rites. They claim to be in contact with beings who are trying to elevate mankind, but they are nothing more than disturbed individuals who are in dire need of professional assistance and intervention. To the government of this new world, the Shamans and their ilk need to be removed, like a cancer from the societal body, lest they drag humanity back into the dark ages of religious fervor. The shamans, and any of the unorthodox or otherwise unapproved spiritualists need to be removed before they can poison the minds of the new society, who each do their part faithfully to ensure that humanity is ever marching towards progress of reason, and farther from our roots as spiritual beings. Drifting gently into the yawning abyss of materialism, humanity is not quite sure what is missing, knowing only that it's absence is deeply felt. This is the nebulous lump of words on which I found my magnum opus, for whenever I get around to starting it. They say you don't want to use your masterpiece idea before you have a few games under your belt, so I am just establishing the world for now. Enjoy! (And 'Ennui' is pronounced "on-way".)

The Three Guardians (demo)
RicJFNas posted a topic in Archived Games -Projects that have been inactive for 12 months are stored here.
The story is simple and straight forward, you control three characters, Aron, Alice and Vera, and they must go on a rescue mission the turns into bigger problem that they initially thought. More details on the profiles to come. Unlike traditional rpgs here you can’t buy items, you have to survive with what your given or find, you can’t as well change equipment asides from gems that you find or are given along the way. There are no Inns or rest areas (you recover completely automatically in certains parts of the game). The game in divided in six parts (Prologue, Chapter 1, 2, 3 4, nad Epilogue). You can save whenever you wish (expect during dialogues or battles). Some of the music is borrowed directly from rpg maker resources or other sources, but there are many that were made by me, using Mix Craft 6, which are: Norken Norken Boss battle Border Forest Border Forest Secret boss Grotte (not in demo) Ware House District (not in demo) Ware House District Battles (not in demo) Reuo (not in demo) Reuo battle\pub fight (not in demo) Reuo Forest battle\secret boss (not in demo) Hideout Boss battle (not in demo) Mountain battle (not in demo) Snow Mountain (not in demo) Final boss themes (not in demo) Part are rpg maker resources other part are my own which are: The main character sprites\battle sprites\dialogue boxes All enemy battle sprites Some tiles in Reuo, Reuo Forest, Mountain, Snow Mountain (areas not ine demo) All battle backdrops (either edited or original) Yanfly Galv's Pacman Moghunter Hime Khas This game is for most part complete, only a few balance adjustments needed, and before I decide to try to publish I would like an opinion of the demo (it’s the Prologue and Chapter1). Please be honest and constructive so that I can improve the game in the best direction (though some aspects I won’t change since they are an important aspect of the game). The demo will last about an hour or so depending on exploration. This's a simple Rpg that I made mostly for fun all by myself, so I apologize for any "errors" you might ( and most likely will find) along the way. https://www.dropbox.com/s/19eq1152k4mgl33/the%20three%20guardians%20(demo).exe?dl=0-

Almora: Online
BlackWolf1992 posted a topic in Archived Games -Projects that have been inactive for 12 months are stored here.
Story: The island of Almora was created in the eyes of four goddess Inyas, the Fire Goddess Hyria, the Water Goddess Alyesna, the Wind Goddess Yunaria, the Earth Goddess The goddess then created people to live in the peaceful lands of Almora. However, in a matter of months the humans that the goddess' had created started to fight, and wage war, destroying the land. The goddess' decided to create more races to set the humans straight, their plan failed. All the races began to fight with each other. With tears in their eyes the goddess cried as they watched the beautiful land wither away little by little. With sadness in their hearts the goddess fell from the heavens, and crashed into the center of Almora. The land of Almora died as did all life. Everything went silence. Suddenly the remains of the goddess' bodies' rose on the third day. Everything on the island began to regrow and live agian. All the races had been reborn by the goddess'. The crater where the goddess' fell remains as a sign to all races to never fight again. Though peace was short lived as monsters appeared out of the crater attacking anyone, and everyone. All the races band together to fight off the monsters, sadly, it may not be enough... Features: MMO-style crafting Solo or team up with other players Many awesome weapons, armours, and items A vast world to explore Many dungeons to fight through Bestiary, to track all the monsters of Almora Player-based Economy Unlockable guest characters Use a keyboard, and mouse to get that MMO-feel. A few of the characters that stand out are: Black Wolf | Level: 80 | Class: Warrior Leader of the Black Legion Guild (A guild of skilled elite hackers that have played Almora since the Alpha version.) Black Wolf is a calm an collected person who says little, but when he speaks everyone listens. He is much like Ovan in the Dot.Hack games. Black Rayven - Level 78. | Class: White Mage The more open-minded member of the group. She plays this game with her sister, Black Angel. Black Angel - Level 75. | Class: Black Mage The complete odd-ball of the whole group. Angel spends her time trying to get her character to masturbate in the game. She is almost always happy, and sexually joking among the group. She is a lesbian, and proudly admits it to the whole world. Rikaria - Level 50. | Class: Gunslinger An Ex-Black Legion member who is skilled at gaming. She is very nice, and helps anyone who may need it. Velmyria - Level 1. | Class: White Mage Another Beta tester who is upset at the game designer for taking out the Adept Rouge class. Melody - Level 1. | Class: Bard A lover, and creator of music. She pays players to play music at her Inn. Lethonomia - Level 1. | Class: Dark Knight A noob at MMOs. In the real world Lethonomia is actually an 18 year who is studying to be a History teacher, however she has a hard time remembering peoples names. Dan the Man - Level 1. | Class: Monk An atheist who believes the bible is a lie. He feels very strongly about it, and will argue to the end. Vilyria - Level 10. | Class: Soldier A girl who is a complete fan-girl over the all-female Melodic Deathcore band, Winter Nightmare. Xenon - Level 12. | Class: Ranger A girl who is love with Narwhals. Alesea - Level 32. | Class: White Mage A nerd who lives, and breathes science. Sirat - Level 3. | Class: Gunslinger A noob who tries to act cool around other players. Amethyst - Level 36. | Class: Black Mage A hardcore gamer who is friends with Alesea in the real world. Ryiah - Level 38. | Class: Black Mage A gamer respected by other top gamers in the land of Almora. Her knowledge of the game is only second to that of Rikaria, and third to the Black Legion Guild. (Note: I truly don't know how long this game will take me, as I'm completely making everything by myself. I will try to finish the game as quickly as I can. If you'd like to help then by all means feel free to. I welcome any help, be it feedback, playtest, scripts, story ideas, or whatever else you can think of.)
