The Cracks Children understand it better than adults. They know the path in the woods will lead to an inescapable labyrinth. They know the basement is bigger and scarier than it has any right to be. And they know that sometimes there are monsters in the darkness. Even when we grow up and learn how foolish those ideas are, sometimes we still feel it. The tingle in your neck we call deja vu. The glimpse of shadows that for a moment you were certain was some strange creature, watching you. Birdsong that for a brief heartbeat sounded like an orchestra from the forest. The truth is, the ordered world we know is an illusion. For those that choose to see will find magic and mystery, danger and delight, secret lives and struggles hiding between the cracks in reality. In The Cracks you play a transfer student just moved to the City, and it will fall upon you and a ragtag group of friends to understand and face a growing, sinister force as it emerges from the shadows. Characters In The Cracks you must divide your time between investigating and combating the supernatural and keeping up with your commitments in the real world. Although the main story is linear, who you choose to spend time with and the side-quests you choose to do will have an effect on the narrative and your chances of survival in battle. Screenshots The only additional materials used are Victor's Engine. I intend to update this thread quite regularly with new locations, characters and developments so stay tuned! Bonus; the City is a big place, full of NPCs to interact with. To make it more interesting for me making them and as an easter egg for players, if any of you want to be in the game as an NPC let me know! There are more original character’s, I just have not put them in the game yet. The following contains a big number series I’ll be using for the Super Route only, as I am yet to finish the Real Route. I will add unit’s from the real route, once I've done the main plot of the real route. (I don’t want to say you can play with these characters, when they aren't in the game yet.) There are hidden series, for you to discover. They will be featured during the combined route. I will not be providing a summary for these reasons. A) You know the anime and character’s - Giving you a description would be pointless You don’t know the anime and character’s - Then why would you read/care about a description. This Game is based off Super Robot Wars Neo for the Wii and OE for the PSP. I will try and bring all the features from those two games into this one. Along with RPG adventure elements. World of Chaos This is the 1st game I've ever made. Had to redo it and the others in this series because I didn't like it. This is my very first demo. Hope you enjoy my very 1st creation. After this game, there will be a 2. This game was inspired by the Dragon Age series. General Game: World of Chaos Developer: Vectra Genre: Fantasy, Role-playing, and comedy Rating: T Fantasy Violence Profanity Sexual Themes Demo time is about 30minutes long. Gameplay & Features The gameplay is the default battle system. I haven't made any guilds in the game yet but is planning to. The classes are very different and is special in their own way. There is a variety of special equipment that gives certain strengths and weaknesses. Classes Battlemage - Equally good in both might and magic. Favors fire and lightning spells. Warrior/Templar - Has great might and prefers toe-to-toe combat. Unlike most typical warrior-types, in this game, the warrior is the healer. Warriors favor physical and holy damage. Assassin - The 2nd fastest of all of them. Can use daggers or bows. Each is unique. Assassins rely on weakening their opponents and likes to do damage overtime. Assassins favor darkness. Mage - The fastest of all. Has defensive abilities. Favors ice and lightning spells. General Story(World of Chaos I - VI): The 5 heroes who were chosen by the 9 Gods are known as "The 5 Heroes of Chaos" who are against "The 5 Enemies of Order" who were chosen by the 10th God... The Chaos God. The Chaos God who's name is King Magnificent wants to rule Earth with his massive and overwhelming army. He has 5 Generals known as "The Enemies of Order" who are to slay "The Heroes of Chaos". King Magnificent wants the powers of all the other 9 elements. He thirst for power greatly. Once the Enemies of Order are slayed the Heroes of Order will be guided by the Gods to meet each other and join forces to defeat King Magnificent. The 9 Gods decided to pick one of each class(Battlemage, Templar, Mage, Assassin, and Warrior). Each has there own favored element. The 10 elements are Fire, Ice, Lightning, Earth, Wind, Water, Holy, Chaos, Mythic, and Blood. Once the Heroes are chosen the Gods make sure there King knows so the King can announce it and then the mortals can celebrate the coming of the Hero of Chaos. World of Chaos I Story: Dreg has been chosen by the Gods to be the Hero of Chaos. Through his life he met 3 friends(they're not heroes of chaos) Leonardo, Patricia, and Lana. Dreg's destiny is to defeat Appopalisis; an abomination created by King Magnificent. Dreg has 3 friends to help him defeat Appopalisis. Characters: Dreg - Dreg is a farmer. He owns the biggest farm in town. He is a well-skilled battlemage. His personality is more on the serious side. His grandma lives with him, his Mom and Dad left out of no where and never came back. So the only family left is Grandma until he can find his parents. Lana - A well known Templar. She is heavily strong but is the slowest. She does not talk much like the others but occasionally she'll say something. She is most known for her manners and loyalty to the King. The King felt like Dreg could use a bit of muscle so he gave him Lana. Patricia - Worked as an assassin for the King. Her job was to stalk and kill traitors of the King until the King told her to accompany Dreg through his journey. She is quick and is quite good at what she does. She can be serious like Dreg but also can be playful like Leonardo. Leonardo - A childhood friend of Dreg's. Unlike Dreg, he is not serious and is very flirtatious. By him being so flirtatious occasionally when you get to choose dialogues to say to a female there will be a unique one you can use. He is a mage and the fastest out of everyone. The Final Boss: Appopalisis - Leader of the Enemies of Order. The smartest and the strongest of the other generals. King Magnificent made Appopalisis off of himself. Therefore, Appopalisis acts much like King Magnificent as in Personality and Desires. Appopalisis is an abomination of rage and destruction. He was made to destroy all who oppose King Magnificent. OVERVIEW Divided Infinity is a story told from the perspective of the universe, it follows a dangerous common element throughout time, and shows what this has done to effect the lives of the people throughout history. Three separate main casts of characters based in the past, present and future. Plus other perspectives altogether, the progression system is built from the ground up specifically for Divided Infinity. The story is told freely without being bogged down by a restrictive progression system and vise-versa as the progression system titled (EASS) is built with the nature of the story in mind. The gameplay uses a custom side-view battle system built around using various player built combos. STORY A story spanning many perspectives and areas of time, told before and after death. it follows a common element throughout history and chronicles it's growth. From the past, to the present, to the days of the distant future, many lives come to a close as this story marches ever onward. Filled with themes of humanity, the story proudly where's that patch on its sleeve through and through, with all the good and the bad. PRESENT CAST Sullan Miller Information Shella Sear Information Gerone Crator Information Nima Longshore Information Rose Information Atsu Aye Information Soledad Information SCREENSHOTS PROGRESSION EASS: (Exocosm Anamnesis Shell System) Individual characters themselves do not level up themselves or gain stats, instead this is done in the form of various "Shells". Shells are a part of a universal inventory, so regardless of where the story jumps, which characters you control, or even what era of time you're in...the shells will always be with you, and your development of them will never halt. According to the lore, these Shells are formations of human memories that form after an individuals death. More insight into how new Shells are created will come at the end of the demo if you guys want to check that out! More shells will be acquired as the game progresses. So how exactly does a Shell gain power? Well, when fought with in battle, the Shells gain Shell Points or SP. Then you can begin learning the skills on each Shell's individual skill web. Fill in all the skills and stat boosts on an Anamnesis Shell and it will become an Anamnesis Core. Let's get more into that. Anamnesis Shells come from a person, they are formations of a deceased person's memory data -- more specifically their desire to be understood by others. Transforming a shell into a core renders this wish fulfilled. But you don't just complete the skill nodes on it's web. Shell Stories When a Shell becomes complete, its story is unlocked -- these are called "Shell Stories" You will play a whole scenario following the persons life up until their death. It can be of a life highlighting event, or even an overall life story. These Shell Stories have original writers, artists, self contained stories (sometimes) tying into the bigger picture, sometime not. These Shell Stories can also happen alll throughout time and you may fall into any country, time, or persons life when starting one. Most have full dungeons, parties, and a whole unique story to complete. Upon completing the Shell Story of the corresponding Shell it will become a core. Cores have all their abilities powered up, the person with the core equipped will gain battle quotes from it's character and...keeping some cores on your field character may just lead to some present day resolution for its story. If you're in the right place that is. The full game has a total of 30 Shells. Gameplay Gameplay in Divided Infinity is done in the form of a custom side view battle system, with custom animations to fit inside of that. There are four person parties and members may be swapped out in real time. Other skills will chain from regular attacks allowing combos to be formed up to the players choice. Original Soundtrack Complete with a large, original, heartfelt soundtrack to accompany its large story script. Story / Setting / Purpose: Before Game: The Game: It has been 500 years since the world was split apart, much has changed in the world of Nurus. A rouge mage by the name of Fal is attempting to restore the world into its original shape. In order to do this Fal has killed the father and mother of Ophelia to create a portal to Agi using ancient dark magic, and creating a army of followers to overpower those who resist. When Ophelia finds out about his plan, she is Fatally wounded by Fal's soldiers and left for dead in the snowy forest. As her life fades away like the blood from her body, A being from the world of Agi gives her the chance to avenge her family all it would cost her is her mortality. Abstract: A roguelike rpg with an active combat system. Genre: RPG active combat Roguelike. Average Demo Time: There is no end in the game. But I'd say 3 hours. Game Progression: Demo version 0.67. Upcoming Update: Story / setting / Purpose: The land of Kaldia is wounded by 3 shattered crystals and the gods can't remove it! It corrupts monsters in the Canyon driving them mad. Little do people know that the Canyon is full of dungeons and mysteries. Your job is to recover the 9 shards and.... well do what you want! destroy them, sell them, use them for power or give them away! Each will unlock a achievement as you repeatedly roam the dungeons with 16 different races and classes! Why did I make this game?: My friends and I love roguelike game like D&D, dungeon crawls, TOME, etc. So I decided to make my own and share it with my friends. In the end it turned up here. Character Bio: You can play as 16 different races all hired to recover the crystals. Will the make it or will they rot like the rest I hired! Challenge: Show off your achievements of the Ancient Dungeons' progress. Make a picture of your resent achievement! Can you get them all? I dear you try! Far in the future changs: I want to change all the sprites hopefully to something better. Whenever I got time I will draw my own sprites or get help from anyone who wish to help me. DEMON HUNTER SYNOPSIS and STORYLINE Demon Hunter is an old-school Turn-Based styled RPG game mixed with "monster capture" elements similar to games like Pokemon and Persona. The game features a simple, yet effective alchemy/crafting system with 50 different recipes to learn and master. The game also features a weapon/armor randomizer, where each drop can roll randomized stats, ranging from very common items to super rare legendary items with boosted stats. The game features 65 capturable demons. Demon Hunter's story revolves around a young boy by the name of Alex, who is chosen by the Holy Order, the Demon Hunters to partake in the Demon Hunter Trials, where youth from around the world are sent on a journey to defeat the evil entities known as "Legion". Alex soon finds out that there is much more to his mission than just destroying demons and saving towns...will he succeed in liberating the world of the Legion, or will he fall like so many before him...? Progression & Details CURRENT PROGRESS - 50% ~ Genre - Fantasy, Comedy, Winter Recruitment - None Story Four citizens received a strange letter about a rather odd favor, there weren't many details mentioned, but only a single line of text caught their eyes: "Please hear our plea" with a location name "Mountains of Frostford". They assume that letter was from some of the local cavelings, but it was soon proved false, Instead, it was a letter sent from the holy fairies that resided there. They were being held captive by a ferocious dragon and his vile troops. After much consideration, they decided to travel afar and help them. After reaching the designated location through a magic teleporter, they noticed that there were a swarm of fairies floating and flying about and some horrid monsters that the heroes must keep at bay. Cast Pink the Lucky Girl Class: Hunter - Gender: Female - Age: 21 - Weapon: Spear A Japanese girl who took up adventuring as a hobby. She enjoys riding, breathing in fresh air and chatting. Pink is famous in her town as a very cheerful girl who makes true friends, but no foes. Pink is the leader of her party and one who decided to help the trapped fairies. Chris the Shadow Class: Hexblade - Gender: Male - Age: 24 - Weapon: Dual Swords Chris works in a small library. He likes silent environment and reading books about politics. Chris also once worked on as a journalist, but he left the job because his destiny is to become a successful story writer. He has a boring and serious personality and gets straight to the point of things. Peter the Runner Class: Archer - Gender: Male - Age: 18 - Weapon: Bow Peter is a easygoing and straightforward boy. He once joins a race at his hometown and got the first position and the trophy for his agility and speed. His destiny is to become an famed archer. Although, he is still learning the ropes and is still a novice, but he is full of hope! He talks too much in a kind and cheerful manner. Loona the Blueheart Class: Caster - Gender: Female - Age: 22 - Weapon: Staff A model who failed to gain fame, although she isn't ashamed of herself and is trying to leave this field of modelling. She hopes that one day she will be a very successful top model. She likes to flirt and attract others to her by her unique fashion and tries to make more boyfriends... or girlfriends? Over the past 7 years, the story has been edited and tweaked to make it completely awesome! I've worked so hard to make the story incredible and it's just about reached that point! Hundreds of years have passed since the great war of Trizia and Khil. Over the decades following the war of the once allied moons, the crystals which once gave life to Trizia and Khil shattered, causing the moons to die. Shards from each moon fell to the surface of Izschar, disrupting the balance of life and causing once docile creatures to become hostile. These shards still contained small fragments of life from the two moons, which interrupted the climate and atmosphere of Izschar. Inhabitants of Izschar refer to this day as "The Fall," which eventually once again became the normal way of life. Until a group of scientists discover the potential of what little life was still contained in these shards, soon earning the title of "Flow," now the evil forces whom once dwelled in the shadows of Izschar, have come forth seeking this power. A story woven of deceit and plot twists, soon Eren is twisted and mixed into the amazing darkness that is The Fall. Characters Eren: A young man from the town of Azuel, desperate on becoming Izschar's best fighter. He knows little The Fall, but soon gets wrapped up with it's darkness. Kali: A skilled Black Mage from the town of Kaja, she desperately seeks the Black Flames searching for information on her father. World of Chaos This is the 1st game I've ever made. Had to redo it and the others in this series because I didn't like it. This is my very first demo. Hope you enjoy my very 1st creation. After this game, there will be a 2. This game was inspired by the Dragon Age series. General Game: World of Chaos Developer: Vectra Genre: Fantasy, Role-playing, and comedy Rating: T Fantasy Violence Profanity Sexual Themes Demo time is 30minutes to an hour Gameplay & Features The gameplay is the default battle system. I haven't made any guilds in the game yet but is planning to. There is an enchantment system and when you enchant a weapon you get to rename it. When it comes to staves and battlestaves you have to buy plain staves and battlestaves. The classes are very different and is special in their own way. Classes Battlemage - Equally good in both might and magic. Favors fire and lightning spells. Warrior/Templar - Has great might and prefers toe-to-toe combat. Unlike most typical warrior-types, in this game, the warrior is the healer. Warriors favor physical and holy damage. Assassin - The 2nd fastest of all of them. Can use daggers or bows. Each is unique. Assassins rely on weakening their opponents and likes to do damage overtime. Assassins favor darkness. Mage - The fastest of all. Has defensive abilities. Favors ice and lightning spells. General Story(World of Chaos I - VI): The 5 heroes who were chosen by the 9 Gods are known as "The 5 Heroes of Chaos" who are against "The 5 Enemies of Order" who were chosen by the 10th God... The Chaos God. The Chaos God who's name is King Magnificent wants to rule Earth with his massive and overwhelming army. He has 5 Generals known as "The Enemies of Order" who are to slay "The Heroes of Chaos". King Magnificent wants the powers of all the other 9 elements. He thirst for power greatly. Once the Enemies of Order are slayed the Heroes of Order will be guided by the Gods to meet each other and join forces to defeat King Magnificent. The 9 Gods decided to pick one of each class(Battlemage, Templar, Mage, Assassin, and Warrior). Each has there own favored element. The 10 elements are Fire, Ice, Lightning, Earth, Wind, Water, Holy, Chaos, Mythic, and Blood. Once the Heroes are chosen the Gods make sure there King knows so the King can announce it and then the mortals can celebrate the coming of the Hero of Chaos. World of Chaos I Story: Dreg has been chosen by the Gods to be the Hero of Chaos. Through his life he met 3 friends(they're not heroes of chaos) Leonardo, Patricia, and Lana. Dreg's destiny is to defeat Appopalisis; an abomination created by King Magnificent. Dreg has 3 friends to help him defeat Appopalisis. Characters: Dreg - Dreg is a farmer. He owns the biggest farm in town. He is a well-skilled battlemage. His personality is more on the serious side. His grandma lives with him, his Mom and Dad left out of no where and never came back. So the only family left is Grandma until he can find his parents. Lana - A well known Templar. She is heavily strong but is the slowest. She does not talk much like the others but occasionally she'll say something. She is most known for her manners and loyalty to the King. The King felt like Dreg could use a bit of muscle so he gave him Lana. Patricia - Worked as an assassin for the King. Her job was to stalk and kill traitors of the King until the King told her to accompany Dreg through his journey. She is quick and is quite good at what she does. She can be serious like Dreg but also can be playful like Leonardo. Leonardo - A childhood friend of Dreg's. Unlike Dreg, he is not serious and is very flirtatious. By him being so flirtatious occasionally when you get to choose dialogues to say to a female there will be a unique one you can use. He is a mage and the fastest out of everyone. The Final Boss: Appopalisis - Leader of the Enemies of Order. The smartest and the strongest of the other generals. King Magnificent made Appopalisis off of himself. Therefore, Appopalisis acts much like King Magnificent as in Personality and Desires. Appopalisis is an abomination of rage and destruction. He was made to destroy all who oppose King Magnificent. This is him... Encase you are confused a little: Each Hero of Chaos has their own game. Only on World of Chaos VI will all 5 heroes of chaos be together. This is a post for "The Showroom" a working demo is not yet available. This is a free game that Nerd Storm Production (New Software Development Company) is working on. We currently have two games in development, one commercial and one free as well as the layout for a 3rd and 4th game. However the free one is called Tabula Rasa and here is the layout. Genre Fantasy, Adventure, Turn-based Plot: You are one of the few remaining "Sage Blades". Sage Blades are keepers in a sense and guardians of the worlds (with an s). You were kidnapped and as a precaution a self defense spell activated present in all Sage Blades that wiped your memory. You have no recollection of who you are. You are quickly met by a companion named Matias who was travelling with you when you were kidnapped. The universe of Tabula Rasa is based around these cards known as "Enigma Cards" and Enigma Card is the essence/spirit of various creatures that inhabit the universe and calling upon them allows you to invoke special effects in battle. Enigma Cards are commonly used by everyone. It is a method of survival short of weapons and armor. The Sage Blades are the only ones capable of bringing forth a Type B and Higher Enigma which can be devastating for the Universe of Tabula Rasa. You are a target and at the same time, trying to regain your lost memories scattered across the different worlds. The World: Tabula Rasa takes place in a universe not in a world. In Tabula Rasa there are special locations that have Ley Lines. These Ley Lines can only be accessed by a Sorcerer who can tap into them to open a portal to another parallel world within the Tabula Rasa Universe. These worlds may have characters that look similar or resemble characters you have already met but will not know who you are as they are unaware of the other worlds. The only ones with the knowledge of multiple worlds are the Jumpers. The Jumpers and Sage Blades and a select few other class of people. Jumpers are generally powerful Sorcerer's like Matias who may also be referred to as "World Hoppers." The jumpers are not as powerful as the Sage Blades, but the Sage Blades lack the ability to cross worlds. The worlds vary in timeframe. One world may be a medieval based world with a feudal system while another world may be a modern age world with technology, or you may cross into a futuristic world where technology is far advanced. Features: -High Resolution - Tabula Rasa utilizes the experimental, yet official, High Resolution dll. The game can be played on a variety of different Resolutions. You select your Resolution at the start of the game and can change it from the Title Screen at any time. Reports have said that Resolutions above 1024x640 may cause some errors with RPG Maker VX Ace not responding. I generally play test the game on 1344x768 and I have run into this error only twice. So that it is not totally confirmed but it is worth a mention. - Advanced Party system that will allow you to modify your party as you see fit. Different party members may have different skills that will aid you. Some party members specialize at something but you can only have 4 Party Members at one time, so you may need to switch members in and out. (IE. Matias and World Hopping) - Card Based Battle System - Engima Cards are the form of combat in Tabula Rasa. It is turn based combat. There are very few skills in Tabula Rasa. Most skills are based on the Enigma Cards. The Enigma Cards are found, purchased, traded, etc. The Engima Cards you have go into your card collection. It is up to you to build a Deck to go into battle with. The Deck can contain a maximum of 50 cards and certain cards are restricted and may only allow you to have 1 or 2 of them in one deck. Each party member has 1 deck and you all share the same collection. The cards do not take up inventory space and stored separately. some of the cards can only be found in a certain type of world. (Gotta Collect Em All! Enigma Cards!) - Inventory Restrictions - each party member is only allowed to hold a certain amount of items which combine to create a maximum inventory. At the start of the game you are restricted to 200 inventory slots. - Storage System - as there is an inventory restriction there is also an "Engima Storage System." The engima storage system are certain places in the different worlds that work under the front of being a "bank." However the employees are all World Hoppers or "World Travelers." World Travelers do not have the ability to jump but they are simply adventures who may commission a Jumper to travel the different worlds. The Enigma Storage System allows you to store your items and access them across the various Worlds in the Tabula Rasa Universe. - Various Other Features, Too Much to Name - there are a ton of other features that are too large in number to name or this post would never end. There is a Bestiary System, there is day and night cycle, a lighting system, a dynamic enemies system so enemies level up with you, there are a number of hidden secrets, there is some voice acting, there is just so much to name that I am probably forgetting a huge amount. How to Make an Epic Game This tutorial is to help out THEAQIB here. When some hear "epic game", they tend to think huge maps. While it's true that a large map helps make the game feel epic, there's a bit more to it than that. Yes, that blue little square is my character. What makes a game epic is the importance and the exploration. It varies from person to person on what makes a game "epic" since people have different tastes and different opinions, but I will try to explain what I feel makes an epic game. Writing Game Design And that is my advice on making an epic game. You can find ways that are completely different than mine and still make an amazing epic game. These are just suggestions to help you get started and hopefully give you inspiration.

Genre: Fantasy Game Progression: Very Early Stages Long ago, there was a land that was perfect. ​This land was supposedly made by the gods. People said the land was holy and would make anyone happy. They settled a giant city in the land and called it Utopia. The city was perfect from its citizens to its government. The population grew by the thousands and not one person was bad. There was no wars, there was no army. This perfection lasted for 350 years, until it happened. Spirits arose and took over many people. They took whatever they could find whether it be a tree or person. You and your family were living on the outskirts of Utopia when this had happened. Your father was selected to join a force that would fight the spirits. 10 years have passed since your father has left, now you must go to Utopia and kill off the spirits before they end humanity! In the world of Arcadia , a great peace has ruled the lands for many centuries. The goddess Feora, with the spirits of the elements, saw fit to ease the suffering of the people of Arcadia, and to seal evil for a great period of time. By doing this, Feora and the spirits believed that the people of Arcadia would become happy, and live peacefully, without war or destruction…they were wrong. Arcadia saw its share of corruption and darkness, but with their powers drained, Feora and her spirits could do nothing to truly stop it. The people of Arcadia began to dabble in the dark arts, and summoned demons, and monsters to haunt the world. The god of evil, Balfor, still slept deep beneath the surface of Arcadia, sealed still by the magic of the goddess and her kin. The more the evil ways of men continued however, the more monsters came to exist, and the more it became evident that the seal on Balfor…was breaking…yet, the power used by the goddess and her kin to seal him…was not yet restored. And still remains weak in comparison, to its former glory… The people of Arcadia came to live with this evil, and sought to destroy it…and so the Order of the Undying Light, came to be, in the holy city of Falnarin. The Order taught the ways of the goddess and the way of light, these holy warriors and priests would exist to defeat the dark forces of the world. Following the words of the goddess from either her own lips, or from the mouths of her appointed Oracles. The spirit of Balfor however, saw fit to create an antithesis to Feora’s great warriors and bringers of hope…and in turn, darkened the souls of men and women across Arcadia, to form the Order of the Crimson Eye. This Order would raze cities, and fill the world with more monsters, demons, and vengeful spirits in order to spread further the darkness of Balfor. In the northern continent of Sanvar, the goddess sent not one, but two oracles, one to remain in solitude and to aid those who would seek her knowledge, in order to begin a new order…for the goddess knew what was to come… The forces of darkness and the Order of the Crimson Eye were planning Balfor’s resurrection. This would mean the destruction of Arcadia, and the coming of a new age ruled by darkness. The goddess, in order to protect her people from this tragedy to come, gave orders to her second oracle on Sanvar…who had become Queen, and her husband, who was once a great knight in the Order of the Undying Light…to use their powers to prepare a new ground to test warriors in order to see if they were fit to serve in the Order, and to fight Balfor’s minions, and to stop his rebirth. There, in the Offenheim mountains, they created the Chamber of Trials. Only those who were pure in heart could pass this test. In turn, they would receive the blessing of the goddess. The king, Voldan, noticed that few were able to overcome the darkness and fear within them, and placed in charge of the caverns his elder brother, a Grand Mage in the Order of the Undying Light. Voldan, in turn, came to the forest on the other side of the mountains…and formed there the town of Wudton, a place for those who failed to become heroes. They lived there peacefully. One day, two heroes came to Wudton, they had passed the trials and sought shelter and food after their rigorous victory, the bitter inhabitants of Wudton were hesitant to assist them, but did so anyway…betraying their own purpose as servants of the goddess, the two heroes, one man, and one woman, both wed members of the small forest town, and became parents to two children. The first child, was named Richard, and second, Aria. The fate of these two children of heroes would come to forge the way, towards a new age of light – in Arcadia. The game Epica highlights the adventures of Richard and Aria, as well as other characters in the game, in their quest to stop the rebirth of the dark god Balfor. They will find out about their own pasts, and meet many new friends, and enemies along the way. They will travel through dark caverns, ancient ruins, cursed towers, endless deserts and even beneath the surface of Arcadia through the dark fires of the underworld – to succeed. We all have a destiny, only some are called to answer it. (PART TWO POSTED NEXT) ---Chapter One – Sanvar 17 years have passed since the two children were born in the small town of Wudton, and life has been merely a passing thing of peace and boredom. The two children always asked about stories of the outside world, asking traders of their travels and the places they had seen…while their own parents had gone away, leaving them behind, they were raised by the Elder himself, and taught basic skills of survival…Richard, a natural swordsman, and Aria – a young girl with a natural affinity for the magical arts. One day, Richard and Aria decided to venture into the forest north of their town, the elder reluctantly let them go, unaware of the fact that a hive of Devil Wasps (See Beastiary), had made its home in the Wudton forest…the two, armed merely with training weapons, are horrified to see the mangled body of a dying guard stung by the foul beasts. His last words are to warn the elder of the wasps. The two return to town, and inform the Elder of what they have found, the Elder, impressed by the two in their natural sense of bravery…allows them to take the weapons once wielded by their parents and travel deep into the forest, to conquer the Devil Wasp, and their Queen. After making their way through the treacherous hive and the deep woods…the two kill the Devil Wasp Matriarch, only to find a strange letter in the main chamber of the hive…taking it back to the Elder, it is discovered that the letter is from a man by the name of Severn, who is a Knightblade of Avaria. He was sent to Wudton’s rich forest in order to obtain food and water for his stricken country, which is currently under famine and drought. The elder, knowing that this was soon to happen, informs the two that they must cross the Offenheim mountains, pass the trials within, and travel east, to Avaria. The two leave for the mountains, sealed with a old key given to them by the Elder…traveling through the dark depths of the mountains, they come to find the gate through unavailable to them…tablets scattered about the passage inform them of a “Gatekeeper†who will let them through the gates and through the mountain range…this in mind, the two find a door in the caverns leading to the residence of an old hermit… The old hermit entrusts the two with the task of passing the Trials within the caverns, and provides them with the key to the chamber – a magical flute, blessed by the spirit of Wind. He also teaches them a song, it is here we learn Aria actually knows how to play the flute, as her mother taught her when she was very young. Advancing further towards the chambers…Aria plays the song in front of the pillar of flame blocking the chamber of trials. But before entering Richard and Aria both notice a switch between two torches on the wall nearby…pressing it opens a hidden passage in the eastern wall…upon entering, they find treasures and items…including a very strange pendant…which they reluctantly take. The trials contain moral and ethical questions, and are answered easily by the pure hearted young man and woman…after passing the trials, they obtain a small crystal ball, which they return to the hermit as instructed…the hermit relays to them more of the legend of the caverns, and before it is done…he releases the power of the crystal into them, and grants them the ability to become servants of the goddess. Richard, will become a great swordsman…while Aria will become a great mage. They make their way back to the gate chamber, and pass through effortlessly…after a bit of rest, they head towards the exit – however, before making it out, they are encountered by a vengeful spirit…demanding it’s pendant back, before a word can be muttered from either of their mouths, the spirit attacks them and a dire battle ensues! The two emerge victorious…and rest up before heading further towards the exit, only to be attacked by a Lamia waiting in the waters…the two defeat the foul demon and finally find themselves on the other side of the mountains. North of them lies the desert capital of Avaria… Upon arriving, it becomes incredibly apparent that this is a city raped by bad circumstance…the waters are dry as are the food stores. As Richard and Aria walk about and ask questions, they are met with a leery eye from the locals…once flourishing infrastructure is now decimated by the lack of food and water for the people of the city. There is no clear evidence as to what is causing that. The townsfolk are incredibly depressed and bitter, and provide little advice to Richard and Aria as they walk around town. Some beg for food, some cry for help, children speak of their lost parents and of faith lost in the goddess…overall, this is a town not only dead economically, but dead in all other forms of the word. The two meet the Chief Elder in the meeting hall, only to be turned away by him due to a lack of proof that you actually passed the trials. The only thing that could possibly be 100% convincing is none other than the letter found in the wasp nest. Upon seeing it, the Chief Elder breaks down and admits the city’s many issues at hand. Two months prior to your arrival, a strange man by the name of Izdain came to the city of Avaria. He demanded allegiance to the dark god Balfor, and demanded a sacrifice of innocence in order to feed the gullet of the dark god. Refusing him, the guard went to attack him, instead…they found themselves torn to pieces by some powerful magical force. Izdain laughed and cackled as he proceeded to call upon his dark magic…ripping the life from the city, and infecting the most precious waters near the city with famine and disease…as well as the food and beasts…the man then vanished into the desert, leaving a trail of destruction and blood. Offering a reward, the Chief Elder asks the two adventurers to find and stop the strange man, and to restore their city to its former glory…should they succeed, among other things, the bridge leading south will be rebuilt. The two agree to assist, reward or not. The Chief Elder informs them as well, that they are ill prepared for the dangers ahead, as well as the desert and the area in general…and offers them the services of one of his bodyguards, a young man named Joachim Azaral. Reluctantly joining up with Richard and Aria, the three set off into the desert to locate the lair of Izdain. The group goes south of town to a small cave, while Izdain is not there, his personal guard are present. Many sites of ritual and sacriligious nature cover the crudely put together encampment among this once seemingly sacred ground. After fighting a large group of Acolytes, a man in black approachs the party, without a word, he draws his staff and attempts to destroy the adventurers - but to no avail, Joachim, holding a dagger to the man's throat, forces a confession out of him as to the whereabouts of Izdain, as he mutters the words "...Oasis...", the man is killed. Aria, horrified by Joachim's lack of mercy, claims he is acting no better than the people they are fighting. Joachim shoves her out of his way as he makes his way to the exit. Regrouping outside, the group makes their way back to town to resupply and regroup best they can. That's what I have so far. At least put down in proper terms. I appreciate any feedback, good or bad.
