The Mercenary Hero (Working Title)
TheRonPhillips posted a topic in Archived Games -Projects that have been inactive for 12 months are stored here.
The Mercenary Hero (Working Title): Genre: Fantasy RPG Game Progression: I have the majority (85%) of all my maps done and am currently making my way through the main storyline. After which I plan to develop the sidequests and detailing. I hope to have a demo out in the next week or so. Story Character Bios Credits -
This is my first game and I made it with the VX Ace version of the RPG Maker software. It's nothing terribly new or special or innovative, but it's been a great learning experience making it. I'm hoping over time to mold and morph this further into a more polished and complete game so I'm posting here in the hopes of getting one or two people willing to play it a couple hours and tell me what they think. No scripts were used in the making of this game so I'm sure many of you will find it pretty boring, sorry. The entire game is a heavily edited and customized, but default RTP product. I'm including in the word "default" the various official downloads I've found, such as those from the ~ Resource Staff Resources! ~ thread from the official site's forums. All the eventing and such was done by me. - Story Synopsis: The female main character you create at the beginning of the game is a teenage ward of the state under the care of Eric, Swordmaster of Hawkstone Keep. Strange dreams plague you during a training hunt which (hopefully) draw you into a wide world full of adventure. Who or what is this imprisoned being that calls out to you? Why do you find yourself hunted by vicious creatures? Discover the secrets of an ancient otherworldly war and learn why your destiny lies at it's heart. - World Development: A vast world map with many different environments, dungeons and areas of mystery. You'll travel to the four corners of the globe and beyond hunting elder magics and powerful weapons. Fishing, side quests, puzzles and a functional clock/calendar with various timed events round out the experience. - Screenshots: Youtube video showing early game footage here: -Game download link: Newest version 0.5.4 release 7 August 2013: http://www.mediafire.com/download/ji0g6ez1g1hp3ua/LegendofAncientsv0.5.4.exe Small version if you already have RPG Maker VX ACE (stable): http://www.mediafire.com/download/oa10glo7a3shmb9/LegendofAncientsSmallv0.5.4.exe Google Drive link to small file backup with frequent updates (working back-up / alpha). https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B1mYcSSR7dRuSmVRRWg0S2ZEdkU Feel free to tell me what you think of it or if you find any bugs or issues (other than obviously unfinished stuff). I'm eager to know how combat against the mobs at various levels feels and how fun the classes are to play. - Character bios: Early characters who are willing to join you on your quest include: Corwin, Eric's other student. He's a young Spellblade with a great potential, but not much experience. Xavier, a brilliant but absent-minded mage. His master, Xerxes may come to know much about your fate if you can save him in time. Blaze, a hot-headed rogue with a heart of gold. He says he's loyal to the end but does he have his own agenda? - Credits Section: Thanks to - SomaelCK, Dorian Tokici, and Hesufo for early playtesting and amazing feedback Adon for inspiring the on-map encounters The RPG Maker Community for being awesome and helpful Enterbrain and the entire RPG Maker staff for such amazing products over the years AND YOU! Thank you for playing my game! Please tell me if this post is in some way insufficient or doesn't meet the requirements of this forum or belongs in a different forum. Feedback welcome. Found and fixed a game-halting bug with an early boss. I had set it to be immune to the death state thinking that would make it immune to insta-death effects. Actually it made it immune to death, even from damage dealt. Lesson learned. I'll have to make bosses immune to specific skills on a case by case basis from now on unless I find a better way. All classes are now reasonably fleshed out and playable up to 30th level or so. Will take a while to fine tune costs and levels skills are granted at and ultimately I want to take them all to level 100. If anyone is interested in playing this. The game is incomplete, but there's around 20 - 30 hours of playtime and I'm happy to answer questions about how I did it. Version History The To Do List Common Event based weather system that turns off indoors and integrates with the clock. Event-based method of swapping characters in and out of your party at an adventurers guild. Add gender selection to character creation (and the facemaker/spritemaker if it's possible). General renaming of stuff in the database. More mini-games and puzzles. Replace all instances of premade maps with my own. Finish the world map including all towns and NPCs. Who knows what else.

You know, I’ve been a part of this community for years, upon years, and I just realized something… I have never completed a project. Well, screw that! Time for that to change with this beauty! It’s called, Breathwind: Return of the Dragons. This game will be released in an Episodic Format. It is developed by The Ninth Life Games. Mostly right now I need an Artist to do sylistic panels for the cutscenes (these would be without color with tan style backgrounds, think pencil drawn style). I need mappers as well. I'm also looking for beta testers to test the game during ongoing development, just to give me some feedback on what I'm doing as I go. J0pac posted a topic in Archived Games -Projects that have been inactive for 12 months are stored here.
-Awesome title logo made by rgangsta I’ve been working on lots of games and each one of them seemed great...at least in my head. However, the projects were all too big for me (big worlds with lots of characters and many complicated scripts) and of course I couldn’t finish any of them. So now I’m making a small game trying to keep it as simple as possible so that in the end I can say that I’ve actually made something. So I’m here posting it in hopes that I’ll get some good feed back and constructive criticism. Game Progression:I'm at the begining Maps:Made first and only city, first dungeon and a bit of second and third(There'll probably be seven dungeons) Story: 50% Scripting:100% but knowing myself I'll probably add more Eventing:All done for the first dungeon Demo should be out soon...... -
Ruby Chronicles: Dimension Theory
Chaos-Avian posted a topic in Archived Games -Projects that have been inactive for 12 months are stored here.
How far would you go to save a loved one? How far would you go to undo a mistake? How far would you go to find the truth? How far would you go to right the wrong? The dimensional realm; Dubious is a land to grant such wishes, desires and ideals. However, such an opportunity is a double-edged sword for one must make a pact with the 8 rubies hidden within a world governed by corruption, chaos and anarchy. Dubious was created when Earth itself was over saturated with its own chaos, which formed another world made entirely of Earth's chaos creating a 'source' for its excess to go. Over time, ones spirited away to Dubious, still alive yet unable to return have tried to calm the chaos and create sustainable livings for them. Some of the monsters that are native to Dubious have settled also living perpetually with the humans. However, much of the realm is still governed by 8 Lords of Chaos. This eventually birthed a task and strike force named the ‘Highlanders’, the only peace and order Dubious will ever know, but for how long? How far would you go to save a loved one? How far would you go to undo a mistake? How far would you go to find the truth? How far would you go to right the wrong? Why is it that those, who wish so hard for something, are never willing or able to fulfill it when given the opportunity? Furthermore, the chaos is spreading and people from Earth are being spirited away… Why is this? Is it a sign of things to come? What is the mystery of Dubious? You can't help but feeling this is part of something far greater... Far stronger... Far darker... Far... Game Progression: 1 Year, roughly 35% complete. Experience with Ace: 1 and a half years. Recruitment: Secondary Artist. Features: -Chat Point Feature (similar to that of the 'Tales Of' series!~) -User Friendly Crafting System (Run of of potions? No problem!~) Boss Teaser Play: DEMO LINK: COMING SOON- 3 replies

Soul Ember
Aeirex posted a topic in Archived Games -Projects that have been inactive for 12 months are stored here.
Introduction Soul Ember is a fantasy RPG with romance, tragedy, and deep character development. I've only been working on the project for about a month, but I'm making sure to spend a long time on the most important parts of the game: story, characters, and gameplay. I will begin on a demo soon enough, but I will need to get music done before then as well. Plot Characters Screenshots Features Team I do everything at the moment. If you would like to join the project just send me a personal message. Disclaimer This is an early feedback project thread, so some of it may change (possibly the game name as well). I appreciate feedback, but please provide constructive criticism and not slander. -

Update Entry No.2 - MOAR Maps and Sprite Frustration
NervousTyler posted a blog entry in Draciarch Games' Blog
Hello people! We have more maps! Oh yes indeed! It's quite exciting, but there is always that tiny problem in development that makes you wish that you could punch your monitor SO BAD, that your entire hand could just pass through it. In other words... WOBBLY. SPRITES. And they are as wobbly as ever! Trying to operate an Animated Battlers battle system is indeed frustrating. ESPECIALLY when you are making custom sprites. Problem No.1 - All animation states are wobbly. SOLVED! Problem No.2 - Attack animations don't appear correctly. Kinda fixed, needs tweaking And the list goes on. So, we want to send out a message. TO ALL SPRITERS! HELP US TO MAKE THIS WORK! In other news, screenshots of new maps available. CAUTION: Some screenshots are spoiler-heavy (for now at least). Proceed at own risk!-

I must just say in this first entry: I've never had a blog before! AND! I've never publicly released a game project before, though I have been using RPG make in it's various incarnations for quite a while.I'm hoping that this blog will help me collect my thoughts (via ramblings mostly, sorry!) and share my thoughts and ideas with the community at large. So here's my project for your reading pleasure. Intrigue of the Crystals The Background Virtually the whole of the continent of Westeryl is under the sway of the “Glorious Empire†but why? The empire is home and host to the “Crystarium†once a secret society of learned men and scholars but now a vast and powerful theocracy providing societal, political and religious guidance to the masses within and outside the empires vast borders. The Empire and The Crystarium have used the Crystals to peacefully, (for the most part) absorb almost all of the other countries on the continent. The peoples of whom are even forgiving the odd instances of extreme violence perpetrated towards the enemies of their utopian society, as well as the Crystarium’s complete and utter intolerance towards magic and all magical creatures. The power of the crystals has steadily been unlocked since their discovery five hundred years ago, and now the crystals provide fertile lands for food production, clean drinking water and other basic resources to the masses of people inside the empire’s borders. The Crystarium has spread their benevolent influence and influence through their apostles, sent out to neighbouring kingdoms and even individual towns and cities with “Crystal Arcs†in tow. The refined Crystals working in tandem with the Crystarium’s various initiates including the apostles provide sorely needed aid to the impoverished and vast riches to the greedy and rich. The end result being that cities and towns pledge their allegiance to the Glorious Empire for the safety, security and prosperity that only the Crystarium can provide. The price to pay is simple devotion and undying loyalty to an empire that is vast, powerful, rich and unified. The peoples of the continent found this offer too difficult to resist and have slowly been brought further and further into the fold. The pace is too slow for some and a vast Pilgrim Fleet is being constructed to carry the “Crystal Gospel†to the continent of Esteryl. Their ultimate goal being to bring enlightenment to the peoples of those lands by force if necessary, in order to create a world of eternal peace and plenty. But what if the Glorious Empire is not all it seems? What if the Crystarium is not as benevolent as it appears? What if the Crystals themselves have secrets? Then perchance this world will see the end of an enduring peace before long.... The Resonance rebellion has literally exploded in the Deep South and the lives of the Ledwyn family are about to be changed forever. Their story is but one strand of a tapestry of intrigue that spans centuries and is only the tip of the iceberg in a conflict that will shake the foundations of their world.

http://www.projectbc.net/vacantsky http://rpgmaker.net/games/1046/ Death is the least of Auria Edith's concerns. After being unceremoniously murdered on a weekend trip, she has found herself thrust into the heart of a mystery involving an eclectic organization of masked people known as the Virad. Who are they and what is their connection to her murder? Vacant Sky is the first game created by studio Project BC and was made in RMXP. Development began in late 2006 during the days of RMXP.net and continues to the present day. It's a deconstruction of the classic JRPG story and follows the psychological journey of Auria as she's forced into the role of protagonist, having no choice but to fight through everyone who stands in her way. It explores the damaging effect that being a "hero" has on one's state of mind and how they try to cope with it.
