  1. Heya! This is my Second post here, my first is a bug im having, so, Would you kindly give it a look? I've hit a wall i dont know what to do. Thanks! So, im making my first ever game, with a few basic mechanics and ideas but what i have in mind is this, each attack you give in battle would have a quick time event, so you can deal more damage. Of course missing all of the quick time event's would result in a miss, but if you get all of them right, not only will you deal more damage but your critical hit chance would incrase. For balancing porpuses i imagined a pretty dificult system, where the buttons that apear would be selected from a random set of predefined keys that you can press. And the speed you would have to press them incrase, or decrease depending on the level diference between you and your enemy. Defending from an attack would work in a similar fashion, if you get all of the quick time events right, you would decrease the damage recieved or dodge the attack, but if you miss them all, you would receive a critical hit As the game goes on, Monsters and bosses get more complicated attacks, making it hard to dogde the attack, while also making it harder to hit one. Every Skill would have it's own quick time event to make it more effective, and maybe even it's own animations. The idea here is to make the player feel LIKE A F*CKING BADASS when fighting a boss by dodgin their attacks with some cool animations playing while they tear their keyboards in half by mashing keys. The "Defend" option would be Unused and possibly erased from the fight screen, because of the system I Barely started making games and i know how ridiculous this idea is, but i really want this to work. Any ideas, suggestions and even criticisim is welcome. Thank you for reading my post!

    Unnamed Sci-Fi School Game?

I'm not sure where to begin... I got this idea from one of my writing ideas about a scientific corporation that turned certain people into robohuman hybrids for military use. This is different, though... And the rest of it came from this dream I had... A game about a post-dystopian world where robohumans are despised by most of the population. The remaining robohumans are trying to fit in with society, under the disguise of completely normal humans. You are a robohuman high school student, trying to fit in with the human students without being discovered. Game over upon being discovered by five students, two teachers and the principal. One person knows what you are. This one person is willing to help you. This one person does not count for the score towards game over. Some students don't immediately count towards the five and may try to either help you or hinder you. Now, I don't have a name for this writing-inspiration dreamed-up game, so help there would be lovely. If you have any suggestions for more robotic actions, let me know! So far, I have this idea that you could end up responding to questions robotically, but I need more than that. I was thinking, if you get into a scuffle with a student or something, that your sleeve could ride up and reveal an arm. Dependent upon the student, this could cause problems... If you have any ideas, let me know! I'm always open to suggestion!

    Game Idea: Trident Empire

I'm having a bit of a problem with an idea. I'm creating a game called Mythical Legends: Trident Empire. This game is going to be made with MV and is probably going to be a short game. The Trident Empire is also known as the Golden Empire since the colors are Gold and Black. Some of you might remember that game, Age of Corruption. Well, I merged some of it with this game. Due to this, the part I didn't merge will be a different game. This game has magic but isn't magic-heavy like World of Chaos. On top of that, in this game, there is no gods which makes it different from any game idea I have. What the game is about: The almighty Trident King, Konata (me) and his followers must destroy the Doom Empire. In the very beginning, you get to play as each follower to get a gist on what you're working with. With that, you get to play a bit of open-world. This game is more like a medium-world. It's "kinda" open rather than fully open. The game takes place in the medieval age where guns existed. The combat style is a mixture of guns, swords, nun-chucks, etc. Anyone who was in Age of Corruption is going to be in this one instead and their/your character might be changed accordingly. For that, I will PM you the changes in your character. As the evil boss, I choose my friend, Iron Croc. Instead of using his profile pic, I'm creating my own version of him; he already knows about. He's going to be a lizard-like warrior with... two axes? or an axe and a shield? Anywho, the Legend of the Trident Empire might become a sequel up to 2 or 3; nothing huge. I'm changing myself to the person I am in Oblivion; therefore, Vectra nor KFC will appear in this game. I might make a game with me versus James Fury but that's an idea for a different topic. Stories Note: I currently only have my story. Konata: A Trident King and grand champion in the arena. An 18yr old King has been grand champion for about a decade. He created the fighting style, Golden Knight. A class of battlemages that major in the following: Conjuration, Mysticism, Restoration, Destruction, Blade, Heavy Armor, and Athletic(stamina during combat). Note: I obviously plan to add a lot more to the story. What do you think about everything?
  4. Hello all, I have an idea for an open world game. Of course I have begun development but want to get some response before going any deeper. Essentially a raid of evil demon like things (I haven't thought of a name) Attack 4 provinces (The main one being Cenna). Of course you born with special powers from the gods must get these four provinces together to fight these abominations. I hope to have 4 back stories (Paladin, Priest, Warrior and Alchemist). Please comment your thought's below =). Terrell.
  5. I had this idea for a long time and just found out that MV would be perfect for what I'm trying to do. General Story Game was inspired by Resident Evil and Fallout 3. Little of earth is remaining and strange creatures are spawning. You live in this one city... the only city that lives. You join the P.S.S., the Professional surviving soldiers, and your mission is to find the source of all this and kill it. Jack lives in a city. It is the last remaining city on earth. A lot of other cities are infested with monsters. Monsters that mysteriously came out of no where. It's called "The Dominating Apocalypse". Jack joins an order that was forged at your city. Jack and a few others were sent on a mission to go to an abandoned city. The city where this all began. Once Jack gets there, Jack finds out that there is more at stake, and there is more than meets the eye... nothing is what it seems. Combat Combat is all about guns. It's Jack and three others. Their classes are already chosen and there is no customization. The only thing you have is weapon attachments. I haven't decided what combat-style this game will be yet. Characters and their stories Jack - Uses an assault rifle. He is the type that's very cautious. He thinks everything through and executes the best plan. He has a leader mentality. Jack has a wife and kids at the city and he has every intention that they stay alive. Paul - Uses a shotgun. He is the least cautious guy. He has a warrior mentality. He is old but it doesn't hold him back. His kids died from the Apocalypse, and due to this, his wife died of grief. He made an oath to his wife, on her last breathe, that he will join the team and kill the bastards that killed their children. Trina - She is the only child; joins the team to protect her parents who are not well; they both have lung and liver cancer. She uses an assault rifle. Don - He is the quickest in the team. He doesn't do a ton of damage but he has skills he learned from his father, a high ranking military commander. Don's father died while fighting against the monsters. His mother abandoned him and his Father when he was really young, so he has no idea how she look or whether if she's alive. Don uses two pistols. Note: Trina might be using a sniper rifle instead and Jack has the assault rifle. What you think? Any ideas or suggestions?

    Become the King

Hi guys! An idea recently came to my mind and I wanted to have some feedback about it. There are many ways to become the King, the one and only supreme leader of the land. Which one will you use? Become a hero of war and have the people cheer for you and replace the bad old King with you? Or take control of the army and plan a coup d'état to take the throne for yourself? Both of these seem complicated... Maybe there are some easier way. But wait! Wouldn't it be easier if you were born a noble than if you were born a bastard in the woods? Well, what situation is our hero in? It's up to you to chose! Background story acting as a difficulty, you can start off as a noble, a peasant or a bastard raised by thieves and other criminals. As you understood, the game would basically only have a single goal, which is to become King. I do not really have a setting in mind, but it could be fantasy-like or more realistic, it wouldn't affect the core concept. The game might include some other difficulty changers, like political situation, absence or presence of a war, presence or absence of heirs, etc. (or they might be fixed, or random) So, what do you guys think? I know it would be pretty hard and long, but I'm sure it would be fun to work on. Thanks! P.S. The idea is heavily inspired by a game called The Escapists.

    Game Idea - Stories

I'm making a game called Age of Corruption. Here is the other post about the game... Main Story of the game - http://www.rpgmakervxace.net/topic/30032-game-idea-help/ Classes Destructive Tank - Destructive strength with tank speed Brute - Brute strength and average speed. Speedster - average strength and very fast. Lightning - Very weak but lightning fast Bosses/Sub-Bosses All Bosses and Sub-bosses get a 10% bonus to all stats except for speed. Konata, Vectra, and KFC are a mystery mwahahahahahahah.(They're the 3 main bosses) Jordyn Fee - Military Commander/2nd in command(Speedster) The most fierce and loyal combatant of Konata, Vectra, and KFC. She has 3 versions of herself... Jordyn Fee(Pink) - Fire & War 10% stronger than normal speedsters. Jordyn Fee(Blue) - Lightning & War 20% stronger than normal speedsters. Jordyn Fee(White) - Peace, Lightning, & War 40% stronger than normal speedsters. She has a hot temper. She is the 2nd best fighter in the world. Konata admires her great skill in combat and granted her the title of Military Commander and 2nd in command. She has the ability of flight and laser eyes. Blue gives her super speed and white gives her teleportation. Paytin Harris - Fire & Lightning/Hitman(Brute) Paytin Harris was a wanted hitman all around Red(i)City. Red(i)Enforcers finally captured him. Vectra gave Paytin a proposal. Paytin can still be a Hitman but his hitman. Paytin agreed and Vectra did some "modifications". Vectra gave Paytin cybergenetic implants that gave him abilities. He has extra strength, extra defense, laser eyes, cybergenetic reflexes, and can shoot lightning bolts. Erica Chapman - War/Hitwoman(Speedster) Erica had the same story as Paytin. Her and Paytin are partners in crime. Vectra told Vanessa Hummel to teach her the power of Gold. Erica can create gold from mid-air. From this ability, she can make many objects. She is only adept to this ability and is not a master like Vanessa. She has no special abilities besides Gold but she is a bit more stealthier and strategic than Paytin. Caramel - War/AKA Vanessa Hummel/Erica's Teacher(Brute) She teaches Erica how to use Gold as a weapon. Caramel is a master of Gold. She can teleport and strangle her enemies. She can also absorb gold to make herself more powerful. Alyssa Rau - Lightning & War/Technician/Commander of the Red(i)Enforcers(Lightning) Alyssa is a robot that was created by Vectra. Alyssa has many abilities due to her being a robot. She has the ability to transform into a motorcycle or into a sniper rifle. She is 10% better than any of the other Red(i)TronEnforcers and has greater skill of the Discs(weapon) than any of the others. Vanessa Ansara - War & Lightning/Weapon Specialist/Enforcer(Brute) The most dangerous of the Enforcers. Is a bit more fierce and ferocious than the others. She has a military/wrestling fighting style mix. Due to her military training and her wrestling skills she has many unique abilities. She can shoot perfectly without aiming, can shoot any high-powered gun with one arm, good reflexes, good reversals, 10% better than any other Red(i)Enforcers, and is very experienced with grabs, and combos. Is equal in skill against Paytin. Mark Everette - Chaos & War/Secret Weapon(Destructive Tank) A robotic Gargoyle-Dragon. Alyssa's own creation. He's a powerful war machine. Was programmed to do Vectra's bidding. Can breathe fire, fly, very powerful chest beam, and a laser that can explode on contact. Reagan Grant - Ice/Strategist(Lightning) Reagan may be weak but her quickness makes up for it. She is 20% faster than the lightning class(fastest class but weakest in the game). She can be tough because she is very strategic when fighting her enemies. She has an unpredictable fighting style which makes her a very unique fighter. Her weapon is a crystal ball and with this she can do many things. She can turn herself invisible, reflect all ranged attacks, strangle her opponents, and can use her orb and transform it to other forms such as the claws which can do various things to enemy such as burn them, freeze them, make them bleed, poison them, or shock them. Jackson - War/Reagan's Guardian(Destructive Tank) Jackson is a WereKing. His species is legendary rare and he is a destructive tank(the slowest but the strongest class in the game) meaning his kind is 30% stronger than normal destructive tanks. Unlike most WereKings he can talk. By him being a sub-boss in the game he will be an additional 10% making im 40% stronger than destructive tanks. Even with all this strength if you use certain moves to make him slower then that will give you a greater speed advantage. Owen - Lightning, Mythic, & Ice/Robotic Master(Speedster) Owen is the leader of the Red(i)Programs. His kind was created by Vectra. His kind is called "Red(i)ProgramX". Owen's kind is more rare than Very Legendary. His kind goes under the Impossible category since they're almost never seen since they're always in space. This gives him an additional 50% bonus to all stats except for speed. Like Reagan, he is strategic as well. Must think smart when facing him in combat. This creation was the first step to a new type of magic called Cyber Magic. Matthew - Lightning & Ice/Pixel Master(Speedster) Matthew is Owen's right hand man. He will be fighting alongside Owen. He is rare giving him an additional 10% bonus to all stats except for speed. He is kind was also created by Vectra. Danielle Grzech - Lightning/Vigilante(Lightning) A vigilante who is against Konata, Vectra, and KFC. She sees the corruption in the cities and wants to stop it before it's too late. She will be your friend later to help you fight them. She has the ability of teleportation. Alexanderson - Nature & Fire/Vigilante(Speedster) His kind is called Forest Magicians. He is Danielle's husband and vigilante partner. He is 10% stronger than most Speedsters. Zoe Ramirez - Mythic & War/Blade Witch(Destructive Tank) A roman witch. Summon Spartans to attack her enemies. Has the power of time and death. She seeks revenge against KFC since KFC murdered her everyone in her home city. Erin Begley - Nature/Witch of Decay(Lightning) A close friend of Zoe. Likes to poison and weaken enemies overtime. Fights alongside of Zoe. With both witches fighting alongside each other you might want to be careful. Jacob Mass - Ice/Hitman Killer(Speedster) Is a friend of Danielle's. His job is to find and kill Paytin. Of course he always loses against him. Jacob Mass has a few unique moves. he can switch between sword & shield to dual wield swords. A sword will pop out of his shield to make it dual wield. He is 10% faster than most speedsters. Alaina Herrera - Ice/Hitman Killer(Speedster) A friend of Jacob Mass. She takes on Erica. She comes close but Erica always seem to be a few steps ahead.
  8. Hi again to the lovely RpgMakerVxAce Community! It's been quite some time since my last visit, but it's great to be back~ School started off with a bit of a rough start, but I'm all caught up and even have a bit of free time to start a new project! I still have yet to make my first Rpg game, and even though I still like my previous idea- I've fallen in love with a new one. I will definitely end up going back to it in the future, of course. So putting it aside and whipping out a new project idea, I'm hoping to get some help to start things off! Alright, so what I need the most help with is the story. Id'e honestly be happy with any ideas and feedback you guys might have, so even if it seems trivial I would be glad to hear it! The truth is right now that I have barely ANYTHING done in terms of the story. I have the feel I want for it, but that's almost about it. So far I've been taking inspiration from rpg's such as The Witches house, Mad Father, and The Forest of Drizzling Rain- and I aim to make a more story-driven rpg horror game. Everything would be fairly simple. Simple puzzles, simple goals, and an atmosphere that is always fitting. Although I did say I had nearly nothing done in terms of the story, I do have a few things as a base to work from. The story revolves around a mysterious girl similar to The Witch's House- I have yet to come up with her backstory. I don't know what events I will have that lead up to her arriving in a forest, but somehow that is where she ends up. While the upper path is blocked by a fallen log, she follows the only other path available. This path leads to a very cozy looking cabin. Of course, she tries to knock on the door- but there is no answer. She then finds a cliff nearby, where she encounters a girl who almost immediately disappears- leaving behind some sort of diary. Upon inspection, it seems as though all the pages are blank. Going back the way she came, the girl heads to the cabin once more, only to find a strange woman now there. The woman calls for someone, and spots the girl. The girl does not recognize the woman, but for some reason the woman seems to know the girl- and calls her by a name that isn't hers. The next part is a bit hard to explain, but the story is this: The girl (player) begins living someone elses' life. She eventually finds out she took the place of the young girl around her age who committed suicide up at the nearby cliff. This all happened years ago, and the spirits of the young girls parents' then lingered about, grieving the loss of their daughter. The player is put into the daughters shoes and follow the events that lead up to her suicide. The player lives the life of the daughter, all the while new diary entries appear day by day- and the player must act out every one to progress. If she doesn't, she would be stuck in limbo with the spirits forever. Thus, most of the game sort of revolves around the player completing the tasks that appear in each new diary entry. If any of this does not make sense, feel free to ask! I'm terrible at putting things into words that are easy to understand, so bear with me haha ^^' I need tons of help with the story, ideas, and events in the story- so if you could help with any of these Id'e definitely be grateful. / v \
  9. Hey guys, back again today with a little game theory that has been swirling around in my head. So thus far, I have really been mesmerized by the horror rpg genre. I'm truly inspired by games such as Witch House, Ib, Mad father, corpse party, lisa, the crooked man, there are just too many to count. And now that I've finally gotten into the rpg maker community, what better way to learn, progress, and gain experience then by making a first game? So I'm going to put one of my game ideas out there for some feedback~ This might be a pretty long post, so if your actually interested in reading it all, thank you! ~I also underlined all of the questions I need advice with- to keep it organized. u v u To start of, let me review all of the story and plot that I've been piling up in my brain. It is a horror, of course. You are introduced as a young girl in her bedroom. The game starts off quickly- either without a cutscene, or a very short one, and the player is then free to roam around and figure out what is going on. As stated before, you start off in what is presumably the girls bedroom (as it looks like a young girls bedroom). It is found out very soon that the door to exit the bedroom is locked, and I'm thinking that once you have a candle (found in the bedroom) you can actually exit the room. After exploring for a while you switch to the brother of the girl who is trapped as well, but not on the same floor. After the player explores with him for a while, we then switch back the the girl, and so forth. The story then follows the girl (player) and the boy (also the player) exploring a large house (that doesn't make too much sense). The house/mansion/area is large and full of generic horror puzzles. All throughout the players' progression, we learn what our goal is and the story behind everything. My idea here, was that the girl and boy are two sibling who are basically trapped in the same limbo (or the twos' own personal limbo, which is their biggest fear(losing one another) embodied as a large and confusing house). Perhaps they died and got separated, but regardless- the main goal is that they get find each other. I couldn't help making the story like this- I'm just all for those innocent character in a dark and confusing place that they must escape. It's common- I realize- but I'm only looking to create a very simple horror game so I can use this as a starting point in learning more about Rpg Maker Vx Ace. Here is one of my first concepts for the house layout - This is the floor that the player starts off on, and the floor the girl character is on. The boy character will be on the bottom floor very similar to this floor, but has different puzzles. I'm thinking the sibling encounter each other (at long last) in the top floor garden. The layout is not final, as I will most likely also be constantly adding on to this maps for more rooms and puzzles, so if you guys have any critique on the layout or any room idea, let me know! ~But that's not all! ~ I have a few character concepts as well- and I still need to write out a bit of their personalities for feedback!<3 Keep in mind I'm not the best artist ;; v ;; These are just a few sketches to start of the characters- Hopefully I'll finalize them soon~ So I was thinking of basing the two siblings off a black rose and a white rose- whereas the sister is the black rose and the brother is the white rose. (Also, I had the idea that mabye the save points would be a black rose vase and a white rose vase, heehee) Here are a few concepts for the girl character<3 I can't really choose what hair style and eye color to give her, any advice? For her personality: I was thinking she is very mature, elegant. Not very talkative, but apparently cares a lot for her brother. She's a pretty generic character, anything you guys want to add? Any ideas? As for her brother (boy character): I sort of have the idea in mind that he is more child-like, more talkative. He would give more commentary than the girl character. What do you think? Both these characters have names I have yet to choose. Does anyone have any name ideas?? Okay, I have one last character concept. xD haha, did anyone expect this one? This is a character I had in mind that I just had to draw out. He would be the sort of embodiment of the siblings teddy bear that they used to have. Or something along those lines. Both of the siblings encounter him and he will give interesting commentary on the situation, if not very confusing and cryptic. There is no doubt, though, that he is an ally. My name ideas for him would be something very fancy- like Bastian, or Horace. Any ideas? ~Well folks, that's pretty much all of my ideas and concepts for this game I'de truly appreciate any feedback, critique, and ideas you guys have! They would help out a lot! But regardless, thanks for reading into it this far if you have :'> Also, I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. But I think I chose the right one > v <; -Jalice
  10. More indepth post here. I have made a survival type game before, but it was only with one player. However, after looking at the Banished game, I've been wondering how possible it would be to do on a 2D rpg maker engine. One of the biggest drawbacks I see right now is that it will require a mouse script that will make events follow where you click, or a path finding script that will make one event walk towards another event. I've looked through the RPG Maker game list, and I did find one game that involved a construction and building type system, which is called Mayor (City). Has anyone else tried making a game similar to this? Or are currently making a game similar to this? I have tried to, but so far, I haven't been able to find the script that will make events follow the mouse, so I'm at a standstill until I can see if one exists. Also, what are things that you would like to see in these types of games, if you're interested in them? And what are things in these games that annoy you and you wish would be left out? If you want to read up more on some other games in this genre, here is a list of them.
  11. Hi there, I've worked on/off for my project, Eve of Perception. (I think there's a few demos about, but I ended up putting them down due to trying to do too much too fast. I'm using mostly RTP outside some SE and BGM or minor sprite edits). For some background, this is close to the end of my novel series, but I've always known/imagined it worked better as a game. I'm a huge fan of JRPGs, so you may see some cliches in there but a lot of it is built upon backstory from the books, since this game is all about their afterlives. I hope it works well as a stand alone as any references are eventually explained. I've noticed some of my problems are how much information to give out a time. I tend to over-explain. One of my main concerns was that there are 12 playable characters plus a secret character. I know I have to give them all unique personality, so I've attempted to do so as well as make them all intergral to the plot at some point. I should probably explain my story ideas and the characters, though, huh? The story revolves around Matthew, a boy who is remembering bits of his living life. He has two friends, Meru and Pirro, who live with him at an orphanage in a tiny village. Four years prior, most of the adults left to go to war and never returned. The enemy in that war are the Witches (best described as a race anomaly and rare), especially one in particular named Puppet who conqoured the castle that the Reapers called home. Since her appearance Heaven and Hell have collided, resulting in monsters, environmental changes, and side-swapping between Angelics and Demonics. I haven't decided on a code name for the "main" antagonist, but he ends up being the hero's father and Puppet ends up being his mother. The antagonist breeched the Earthly world and Heaven, trying to find the soul of his wife for reasons I've yet to explain. I've tinkered with calling him Origin or Sorcerer, but his real name is Evin. There's a bit more backstory to the game, because after Heaven and Hell collided to make Perception (limbo), of course the two sides wouldn't get along. Lucifiel, Belial, and Leviathan are some of the major badguys. A man named Alec from one of the character's pasts is as well. Well, God was nowhere to be found. God is protected by the Valkyrie, named Kreeno, who weilds the Lance of Longinus. The Demonics slowly began to take over the 4 archangels: Michael, Raphael, (Lucifiel), and Sandalphon. When only Sandalphon, a Reaper named Dream, and Kreeno remained, they decided to play it safe and reincarnate themselves so that they could come back when their side had gained strength via a resistance group (started by the reapers) named Icterid. So they were reincarnated. The whereabouts of the Lance remain unknown. A note about the Lance as well: it is the tool that can rip open the worlds between Heaven and Hell and Earth. So Evin has used it before. Now, the game begins in the village of Conception, where Matthew, Meru, Pirro, and some of the other orphans are playing. It goes fine until Ketal hurts Marta's feelings by telling her that their parents will never return. Meru is very defensive and ends up revealing her mysterious powers. Ketal calls her a witch and makes her begin to question if she belongs in the village. Pirro, Matthew's best friend, loves Meru. Matthew and Meru really have no interest in one another (unless you want them to, later). Ketal sets out into the forest to prove Meru is the reason their Forest Elder, Minos, has gone insane. The group catches him sneaking out in the night and follow him. Halfway through the forest is a cemetary where Ketal reveals his father never made it past the forest and was killed by Minos. He blames Meru and Minos for his father's death and goes to kill the him. The group follows and rescues Ketal, but when they return to the village the Demonics have attacked and burned the village down. They are hunting witches, specifically a "catalyst". Alec, the leader of the raid, is a rogue angel. He takes Meru and Pirro, and then Dream, the reaper from the past, shows up and saves Matthew, taking him back to a hideout a few days away. There's a lot more story past this, but this is essentially the first hour of the game. Here's a breakdown of the characters: Matthew - the main character (he later finds out he is a witch, the first male one in fact). He uses mostly physical attacks and is strong with dark and weak to light. He's pretty quiet and usually only speaks to ask questions and stays focused on his goal. He doesn't mind doing things, but he doesn't feel pressured to go save a farmer or whatever if his friends want to. Meru - I guess she would be your main mage. She starts with a healing spell. She is the opposite of Matthew in attributes. She's pretty stuck up but likes to defend others. She craves change and attention. Pirro - He's one of my weakest characters. He is strong with earth. Matthew is his best friend and Meru is the love of his life. He would do anything to help them, even if/when they turn on him. I guess he defines himself through others, but is generally a food lover and a comedian. ShindoW - She's an angel with undersized wings. She's looking for her younger brother, Shane, who was murdered when they were alive. She's had a long life that led to her suicide and a lot of unresolved issues with other characters. She also wants to help Matthew since they knew each other in their teenage years. Dream - A Reaper and prince of the reaper village. Reapers can turn into grackles (blackbirds). They are said to appear when someone is about to die. Dream is very flat spoken and cold, but mostly because of the trauma his people have suffered. He hates all witches, no matter if they appear good or bad. He will focus mostly on passive skills, states, and debuffs/buffs. Meloni / Sandalphon - ShindoW's foster father in life. He's generally an angry person, but was also a cop in his past life. He's recently awakened in Perception and has direct ties to Matthew, ShindoW, and Scott. He's very religious and is forced to cope with what his side has done in the war. He is an optional character. If you don't recruit him, he will be an enemy. He has strong phsyical and magical attacks. Angel - ShindoW's soul mate. She was killed in a storm when they were young. She's a Healer. She is a kind hearted girl who realizes she has no problems... so she solves other people's problems. She is glad to finally be reunited with the woman she loves. Scott - ShindoW's older brother. He left her on Mel's doorstep after the two siblings had run away from home. Scott eventually succumbed to scizophrenia after a long career as a rock star. He killed most of his friends/family and wound up in an insane aslyum where he met Meloni. (The leader of that asylum is now Belial, fyi) In death, he mostly seeks redemption. He is a chain smoker with a sarcastic attitude and womanizing personality. He specializes in physical attacks. Star - The mother of Scott's children. After an explosion they were seperated and Star took the name Melody because she had forgotten who she was. When they re-met and remembered one another, Scott killed her. Now, she is the Queen of the dragons, an ancient race (I haven't expanded upon them yet). But she is looking for a lover to make her King and continue her great race through a pilgrimage. She is very outgoing and loud and a bit of a country girl. She uses Summons. Kreeno - the legendary Valkyrie, protector of God. She used to be a male friend of Matthew's in school. Her reincarnated personality often conflicts with her ethereal one. For most of the game her Shell/Body and Extract/Soul are seperated. This is another main thing with the plot. Duckie - Duckie is Matthew's little sister, the one Matthew feels he is searching for in the beginning of the game. When he was looking for her it led to his premature death. Duckie is a lonely girl who spends most of her time around her brother. She idolizes her mother, for the worst. (Their mother is abusing them due to cancer in her brain. Unable to cope, this was why Evin felt her soul was gone. He unlocked a way into the afterlife to find her "good" soul again, in the process creating witches.) Duckie is the reincarnation of the Lance and she uses tarot cards. I'm not sure how to implement these yet, but maybe some sort of button press system? Olivar - The least fleshed out character. He's Alice's cat. You find him being robotisized by the Demonics, which gave him the ability to fly and communicate. He's just a cute, fun character. Alice - The secret character. In another reality, she is the daughter of Angel's rape. Matthew is her brother. She is a magical girl who scours time and space seeking the ultimate Witch. She is very relaxed but focused. She will be hard to recruit, requiring a number of triggers, but basically makes the post-game a synch for those that want to do everything with ease, as well as unlocking her own ending. As far as the battle system, here's how it's laid out: There's Life Points and Aura Points aka HP/MP. Soul Points are earned on level up (and you heal on level up) which you use to increase your base stats as you see fit for any character. Want 3 tanks? Go for it. Of course, starting stats fluctuate due to their natural role in battle. There are Physical and Emotional skills. Some characters learn one, others both. Emotional skills tend to focus on healing/attack, while the other is mostly buffs/attack. There are 6 types of magic: Pyromancing, Aeromancing, Geomancing, Aquamancing, Holymancing, and Necromancing. Characters learn Auras (skills and spells) through Books. This book can be used on any character capable of learning the spell. You will gain several for the basics, but there are also special ones exclusive to the characters, as well as combo attacks. Auras can be combined for super charged skills. I'm aiming to make the enemies have some thought required. Each dungeon will basically prepare you for the boss in terms of levels and skills needed, but still require unique strategy. I want the dungeons to be just difficult enough to squeak by. You can save anytime and heal on level up to make it easier. Anyway, I guess I'm looking for thoughts? Opinions? Is something really bad? Let me know Finally, I do have nearly the entire story planned (I'd say 50% + the ending), so let me know if you guys would like to see the complete story so far.
  12. Hey, everyone! I know that I've been inactive in this forums... but who cares! right? Alright. I have this idea for a long time now, just wanted to let it out. The game title is "Cliche", yes a very straight forward title. Basically the game elements are so cliched that you will probably hear the word cliche a bunch of times in this one post. The characters, plot, etc are all cliched. The game is mostly for comedy (about 90% of the game) which involves tons of jokes (regardless of what type), classic 4th wall-breaking, and the most cliched stuffs that you can expect in an RPG. Resources: Since it will be a cliched game, the resources will also be cliche. 100% pure RTP resources! No customization! The Plot Well, I don't really need to explain it since its cliched. The typical hero who got chosen by destiny and save the world from the evil Dark Lord or something, collecting ancient relics, saving villages, doing quest, and complaining about how cliched the game is. Wait, what? The Charaters: The most clihed characters you can think of! -We have the hot-headed hero(male ofcourse) who uses sword and likes to fight bad guys, and always breaks the 4th wall and complains about how stupid the game is. -a female healer who will probably the protagonist's love interest or not and very useless, -a female mage who plays the role as the annoyingly annoying girl in the party, -a male thief who plays the role as the coward in the party, he's probably a traitor, but let's just pretend that we didn't know that, -and an archer (can be male or female... or both) who plays the role as the silent badass of the party who kills 5 enemies using only one arrow. -The Dark Lord bad guy who is the hero's father, but of course, you guys already saw that coming. Plot Twist: Of course... what else do you expect. It turns out that the cliched game is not so cliche after all! Note that This is only an idea. I probably won't make the game itself. But whether you guys do, then its up to you. k baaaii~!
  13. Hello everyone, One Cut Studio here again with another game idea I had that struck me late last night! I wish to share it with you all to hear your opinions. So I was thinking about an RPG concept that would be original and fun to play...something outside of the box...something creative. I really liked the idea behind "You Are Not The Hero" where the player takes on the role of the NPC. Which led me to think: What other non-traditional roles could the player role-play? Then it hit me! They could role-play themselves! "You BROKE the Game?!" is a meta-gaming, fourth-wall breaking, puzzle solving RPG. It starts like this: The game opens with an ordinary scenario of many typical RPGs. A hero is needed to suppress the evil forces that threaten the kingdom. Danger and treasure await our player as he/she travels the beautiful countryside to be the hero and save the day...the game progresses like a normal RPG...but wait! Suddenly the real plot of the game hits! The hero encounters "game files" either as a drop from a monster or an event. Strange? There shouldn't be "game files" in the game? A mysterious figure known as "Debug" or "Admin" or whatever emerges from the shadows. He tells our hero that players should not have access to the game's files because knowing about the game while playing it is called "meta-gaming" and that is bad. The mysterious figure offers the hero a choice to delete the "game files": Yes or No. It really doesn't matter what the player chooses because both choices lead to the catastrophic events that "break the game." The "Yes" choice directly causes it and the "No" choice indirectly causes it as the mysterious figure takes the "game files" from the player and deletes them on their behalf. Hence... "You BROKE the game!?" Once the "game files" have been deleted, the RPG world in which the player is playing is changed drastically. The music has stopped playing, only to be replaced by irritating static noise. The text is replaced with random characters. The tilesets get switched and the once beautifully mapped areas look glitched and awful. For example, a house keeping its structure, may now look like a bunch of random tiles thrown together that have no relation to each other. The battle system is offline. The character can't talk to NPCs. Little by little, it is up to the player to restore the game back to its original condition by solving puzzles and finding and repairing pieces of code. It would be interesting to actually teach a little bit of coding to the player through the gameplay using puzzles that seem like finding errors in code. The text system should be the first to be fixed. Second priority would have to be fixing the background music. That irritating static could be a positive motivator to fix that particular system. Of course, who is the villain here? Is it the hero? Is it debug? Who broke the game? The reward waits for the hero when they have successfully fixed the game. What do you all think?
  14. Hi everyone, One Cut Studio here again. When I'm not working on graphics, I am thinking up game concepts that I have not seen done very often. My thinking this time brought me into the realm of Historical Fiction. There are Sci-Fi RPGs, Fantasy RPGs, Dating RPGs, but rarely have a seen a Historical Fiction RPG(I could be wrong, just saying that I don't see it often). To clarify for those who may not know, a Historical Fiction game is one in which the events/atmosphere of the game are historically accurate or close to historically accurate, but the protagonists are made up. My line of thinking brought me to this: -What about a game that takes place during the Revolutionary War? It could be about a soldier and he has missions...hmm...which side is he on? I'm sure I can make sprites for the redcoats and the constitutional army. And not just clothing but original period tilesets, and etc... -Oh! Civil-war era uniforms would be cool too. That's a game there too waiting to be made. North v. South, brother v. brother...good material to work with. But I feel like I am missing something... -Oh! What about an RPG based around the rich cultures of the many tribes of Native Americans? (Thinking about teepee tiles, totems, animal sprites, spirit animal sprites...continues on) Which led to: VISION QUEST Some tribal cultures had something called a "vision quest" or "spirit quest." I believe the Aborigines of Australia had something similar which they called a "walkabout." Basically, it is when a boy leaves the village on a quest to become a man. My idea for this type of game would focus on that quest to become a man (or woman) of the village. Maybe even a group of youngsters go on this journey together, each guided by a separate spirit guardian of nature. It would heavily incorporate Native American myths, legends, and iconography. This is just a very rough concept, and thank you for reading through my ramblings, but I would like to hear from the community. What do you think about the Historical Fiction genre and the rough game ideas? Would you rather play one time period over another?
