  1. Hi guys, Sorry if this topic has been discussed over and over again already. I digged a few scripts and looked for a database setup-trick but could not find anything that fits my needs. So, this is what I would like to accomplish - any help appreciated! 1. Each Actor has a Main Weapon slot and a Secondary Weapon Slot. The "Shield" Slot would be perfect to be used as the Secondary Weapon Slot. 2. The Actor only ever attacks with the Main Weapon, never with the secondary one. This is not a switching system or a dual wield system! 3. The only purpose of the secondary weapon is to ADD its properities to the main weapon. 4. Summary: My Hero wields a Longsword as Main Weapon, this has moderate strength but no special effects. The trick: On the Shield slot I want a "Fire Gauntlet" that adds "Fire" properity to the Heroes main attack. It does not add a second attack to the Hero and it does not allow the hero to switch weapons. The properities are just added to the main weapon, thats all. Hope that was understandable. A system like this would allow me to customize my weapon system much more (like Bow + Magic Arrows etc.) Any clue? thanks a lot in advance!
  2. I have looked all over youtube and this site, but I must be doing something wrong. Basicly I'm trying to make a graphic for events, it seems simple. I make a image using art program, set it to either ! or $ or both, tryed in different orders I also made sure to try setting the size of the image to 3x4 and i tryed 4x4 and 4x8... all with the prefix-in every combination. My problem is when i select edit event, set the graphic to the image, via Tileset only one area is selected, 32x32 area shows up (a single tile). The only answer that is given is "the graphic will only appear one tile in editor and when you run (or playtest) your whole graphic will appear." Well its not, I've play tested a bunch. My example is i have a 1 with 2 high tile (32 x 64), A pillar, I want the player to go to it, action button, The pillar changes graphic, and moves to the side, and revealing a door. I am able to get around this by using a event on one tile and another on the tile above and, another the door on the side( and some move orders and wait comands. I could turn the top part into the door, but i would need a event on the side to show the new graphic of the top part or the pillar that now slid to the right "was pushed." Please help.
  3. I need help getting a right to left alphabet to display properly. I am able to get the letters (Persian) to show up, but they are showing up left to right and not connected. I am able to type into the RPG Maker windows using Persian from my keyboard setting and they show up fine in the program windows, but when I play the game they show up in the wrong order. Does anyone know a way to get it to work correctly? I have seen a game or two that uses Arabic, so it must be possible, but I don't know how to do it.
  4. I've seen some face-sets with different emotions floating around, and I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction towards creating my own characters+face-sets. I'm pretty tired of seeing the same expression in various dramatic situations.

    Advanced Event Help

    I need help setting up an even that will require some items. In a room is a teddy bear holding a wooden handle. The player has to leave the cabin and pick up the head of an axe. The player can go back in the cabin and either take the wooden handle from the bear OR place the axe head on the wooden handle and leave it with the bear. IF the player puts the axe head on the wooden handle..... Nothing will happen until the player leaves the cabin. When the player first leaves the cabin, I want the screen to shake and then say "there was a noise in the cabin". The player will then by instinct walk back in and I want there to be a hole in the back of the cabin and the player see the bear moving out. IF the player takes the wooden handle.... I will have the bear chase the player when they leave the cabin. The problem I am facing is having too many events going on and switches getting lost or overriding each other. I understand this is a lot. I have been working on it for at least 3 days with no success. I will keep trying and hopefully get the event to somewhat work. Even if someone can get me a head start in the right direction, that would be appreciated.

It was going well, and I think I might have messed a lil somewhere in the scripts, but when I click to Preview the Text, the box shows up empty! However, when I run the program, it displays exactly what I code into the Text box... Can someone help me out? Please and thank you <3
  7. I'm struggling to add layers on a castle. I'm trying to copy and paste the second layer by using shift. The problem is the titles act like Autotiles when I paste the copied portion on top. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong or missing.

Already sorry for my english xd, So i wanted to make it that if i wanted to enter a forest an npc would not let me and run to me so until this there was no problem until i want to fallow here so that she moves first and mij actor moves automaticly with her until the event teleports him but how do i do this i understand if the question is confusing but i dont really know how to explain it properly hope you guys can help me out

  10. So, I make little things with RPGMaker to share with my friends, and fill them with references, inside jokes, and so on. The most recent thing I'm doing calls for, at one point, a character to change like a transforming hero into another state. I've figured out a lot of the basics (how to make the state change into a skill to be used, how to make it unlock other skills specific to that form), but what's got me stumped is the fact that I can't seem to figure out how to: A: Remove said skill after the fight (or in the case of the final form, after its three turns are up) B: Block off the skill after its been used once (to avoid endless buffs) C: Actually enable changing to other states - by which I mean removing one form's buffs and applying the other's And D: Make it so the health buff of the tank form doesn't leave the character in question crippled by their now low health. It's probably something easy, but I'm dumb and thus, stumped. Does anyone have any idea how to make something like this work?
  11. Title : XAS ABS Compatibility Project. Purpose: I've been working on a small compatibility project for XAS ABS. What this is, is not a game. It's just ALOT of different mechanics all implemented onto 2 very small maps to see what does, and does not, get along with each other. It will be used in a game very soon in the future. Overlay Effects #2 Update Notes/Features:: Update for Xas Abs Compatibility Project. 1. First in the video I show you that the fireballs now emit a light source even, also changed how light reacts to walls and what not. with the added layers(sunshine/rays of light). Had to change Z surface values. 2. I've also implemented a day and night system (thanks Vlue!) that interacts with the layers and weather. If it's day time, and it rains, the rays of sunshine dissappear and reappear when it stops raining. This give the effects that clouds are covering the sun. Also lights and the sunshine/rays of light, turn on and off depending on day/night. (if you do something like this don't forget to event your transfer events when you're returning outside or it'll be really weird ) 3. Alchemy, I think that explains itself. 4. I've added CT(stamina) penalties if you hold your shield up too long or if you dash for too long, or if you simply use up all of your stamina. If you do, you have to wait for it to fully recharge to use your shield or run again. Can still swing your sword though, I couldn't be tooooo Sadistic XD Next update will have the tints all worked out to look right/better. Some animation changes. (hopefully) Better pixel movement (probably won't happen, but I'm gonna to try my hardest) If you have any suggestions let me know below please.
  12. I had a few questions and was hoping someone on here might be able to help me out. I know you can add new animations for magic and whatnot by downloading them.. but as I suck at doing animation work for magic and skills, I was curious as to if you can transfer the info of animations between games.. like having someone put them together, then transferring it over to my game but set up already? Instead of having to do it frame by frame by myself. My 2nd question, is there a way to make an event to have the player put in a word instead of numbers to make the event trigger activate? I know it was possible in RM2K3.. but I've only seen numbers in VX Ace. If not, does anyone know of a script to do so? And my last question is how to add dialogue to a boss type battle.. where the enemy talks after so many rounds, or damage done.. as well as a possible transformation into another enemy? Like a two staged boss fight. Best example I can give is the old Mystic Quest.
  13. I want to remove the part of the menu where it shows your party members, as well as the part where it shows your currency, so that the only thing it would show would be the menu commands. As this game only has one party member, and no form of currency, those screens are just sort of awkwardly there and don't really belong. Also, I would like to center the menu commands. How would I go about doing all that? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm really new to RPG maker and couldn't find this question answered anywhere else. I already asked this on the steam forums, and was told that it's possible if I altered the script (Which I pretty much already knew), but I wasn't told how, so I figured I'd ask here. Thanks in advance for the help.

  15. Hi everyone! So I'm sure this has been asked a million times but I'm not able to find other forum topics on it -- I'm probably not using the right words -- but either way, I'm sure this is easy to learn and very useful to know. I'm basically looking for the whole "here's how to battle!" intro battle thing where it has dialogue in the battle. The whole "try attacking the enemy!" and then only Attack is available for the person to choose, and then they do the whole "now try using a special attack!" and repeat with Special, etc. I hope I'm being clear enough, and I'd appreciate any help anyone can give.   16. I've had this app for a few months and then all of the sudden a few weeks ago the game sorta "broke". I hadn't played the game in a few weeks and the last time I played it with no trouble I didn't change any code. The game is broken in the way where the character no matter what always move right until he can't move right anymore, then if I press left he will go down and face the camera. I don't know what is going on and I tried deleting every joystick set-up on my pc. (Sorry if I made any grammar mistakes)

In my new game, I have hundreds of Voiced lines, my problem is the way I put them in the game.I just add them as a "play sound" before each txt msg box..it does work but I've come across a problem..If you skip ahead of the conversation to the next txt box, the next sound file plays... and if you press enter very fast many sound files try to play at one time..I even had the game crash becouse of this... now I am not sure its a major problem, but there might be some impatent players out there and I'd rather avoid there game crashing... Is there a better way to add the voice files? then just the play sound command? So perhaps it has the event type command of "wait till complete" or something like that, or perhaps another way to solve this problem.. thanks
  18. Okay, so I'm not sure if this is the right section, but, I'm posting this for a friend because he doesn't have an account. Whenever he tries to test play his game it crashes and just says, Failed to Create Process. He said he has no scripts and all he has done was import graphics and music. Any ideas?

Hello everyone, I had rpg maker vx years ago, just getting back in to it and making a game with my 5 year old daughter and we're having a blast, I have loads of quests about adding up and word play so she is learning while playing Anyway, my main question is can I reuse a scene but completely clear it of events, my opening scene is a wedding and I want to reuse the church without the guests/cutscene etc, and whilst right now its the stock Church, in the future I want to make my own church. Many thanks for your help, apologies if I have asked a common question, google or search bar didn't help.
  20. Hi! I've run into a little problem with the autotiling feature in my game. I've attached a photo and circled the areas that are bothering me. Here is a screen cap of the tile in photoshop. Those jutting out pixels are driving me nuts and I have no idea why it happens. Can anyone please haaaaaallllllpppppp! thanks!
  21. Let me describe the case 1. it's player turn 2. one enemy left and it's 1 HP left 3. player attack 4. enemy dead 5. I want the state processed here 6. then move into victory scene in default, when the last enemy died, the state turn won't decrease, i knew it from a state that will decrease HP each action end How do I achieve this ? I'm a newbie into forum stuff so please tell me if i'm doing wrong

  25. For the game I'm workin on this is my title screen. I'm wondering what I would need to put in to make it look like the candles are "flickering". Is there a short script for that? I also want to know what I'd change in the script editor to change the font color for just the command options on the title screen as well as making the item id bigger for the font itself since in game the letters get cut off by about two or three pixels. Any ideas? ; w ;
