  1. Game Title: The Darkest Tower Type of Game: Dungeon Crawler Author's Note: Hi everyone! I've been conceptualizing a game over the past two weeks or so and was wondering if my concept sounds interesting/fun/like something you would want to play. Really, any feedback would be appreciated. Just a few quick notes before I start. That title up there is tentative. I'm not exactly the greatest name creator out there. Another thing. You'll see it (hopefully) when I get into describing the game, but I drew inspiration from a few other games when creating this concept. Those games are: Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Catherine, Dark Souls, and Persona 3. And one final point. There's a reason I chose to make this game (that may or may not be made) a dungeon crawler. I'm good with dialogue when it comes to making games. I love writing dialogue. I just finished making a visual novel the other week with RPG Maker VX Ace (which I hesitate to post anywhere than the site it was intended since it was made for a specific audience). That's pretty well all dialogue. But I've always felt like I'm weak when it comes to creating enemies, making skills, balancing everything, etc. So I want to attack that issue directly, make it a central focus, and see if I can improve. Story: A young man named Felton wakes on the roof of a tall tower. He has no memory of how he got there or where he is in the first place. All he knows is that it's dark. Very dark. And he needs to find some light. A lamppost lights up at the center of the roof and a voice calls out to him, urging him to venture down into the tower. Felton is extremely apprehensive, but the voice tells him that the further down into the tower he goes, the more light he will find. The promise of light is enough to convince Felton to take the leap of faith. So down into the dark tower he goes, unaware of the dangers within and of the fact that he's not the only person in the tower. Graphics: Might as well get this out of the way now. Should this game be made, I would pretty well use nothing but RTP graphics. There will be times where the graphical style will change into a sort of retro-rpg look, but that ties into a part of the story that I don't want to get into much. I'll touch on it later. Let's just say... This is what the main character Felton normally looks like. But in the retro areas... Felton looks something like this. Gameplay: Before I go into the characters, I want to talk about the gameplay, as that's the largest focus of the game. I'll talk about it point by point, trying to start with some general things and move on to specifics last. As the story suggests, you'll be spending the game travelling down a massive tower. (I think of it as a sort of reverse-Tartarus from Persona 3. Whereas in Persona 3 you spent the game going up a tower to make it to the top, in the Darkest Tower you spend the game going from the roof down to the bottom of the tower.) The tower is separated into blocks of three floors each. At the end of each block will be a major boss. What is a block? It's an area with a specific setting. For example, the first block could be a jungle. Another block might be set at the bottom of the ocean. Why/How these settings are contained in the tower is all a part of the story. There will be maybe ten blocks or so total. Of course, since the game is set in a gigantic tower, there are no towns. Rather, there are break floors between blocks where you can relax and unwind for a bit. You'll be able to buy some things from a shopkeeper named Jago (whom I'll describe later), speak to any other characters you meet and build relationships (I'll go into that later too), and choose which characters you want to take with you into the next block. These break floors are retro areas, where the graphical style shifts. Going briefly back to the idea of blocks, each block will have its own lore that you can delve into if you wish. If not, no big deal. What I mean by that is that there will be journals, notes, things like that scattered about each block that reveal more about the area you're in. For instance, taking the idea of a jungle block, you may come across the pages of the journal of an explorer. I would hope to think of something a bit more original than that, but just using it as an example. Before I go into the next point, I have to mention that there will be crafting. You can craft healing items, weapons, armor, and so on. On the opposite side of the coin, you can also take apart these items to get raw materials out of them for use in crafting other items. Crafting isn't just useful for that, though. You may need to craft items to make progress through a block. For instance (once again going back to the idea of the jungle block), you may need to craft a bridge to get across a river. So crafting would be an extremely valuable system. You can't get everything for free. If you buy things from Jago, you have to pay something up. Of course, it's not like monsters in the tower are going to be dropping gold or dollars. That's ridiculous. Rather, as you defeat monsters you'll get monster bits, little bits and pieces you salvage from a monster's corpse. While no sane person would do this, Jago likes to eat these monster bits. He considers them a delicacy. And after all, a man's gotta eat. I mean, it's not like you're going to find a McDonald's in the tower. So you trade these monster bits with Jago for items that he's crafted. For the sake of convenience, these monster bits are referred to as "monits". They serve as the currency of the game. Darkness is everywhere in the tower. Finding your way will be difficult without light to guide you. So, taking a cue from Amnesia: The Dark Descent, there will be tinderboxes. You can find them or craft them yourself. There are lanterns hanging on the walls of the tower and braziers in places. You can light them up, and they will never go out (unless there's an event where they would go out or something). You will also get a torch almost immediately after entering the tower. You can light your torch as well to grant you some light. While you can move around with your torch (unlike with lanterns and braziers), there's a time limit on it. You'll get a few scarce minutes per tinderbox. So torches and braziers/lanterns have their upsides and downsides. And believe me, you'll want to have some light. Some of these places are nearly pitch black, and there are no random encounters. Enemies roam around the blocks. Run into one and you start up a battle. You don't want to go blindly stumbling around in the dark only to come up against a group of monsters that you can't defeat. Light is the most valuable thing in the game. You don't want to forget that. Don't think that you can get off by saving/reloading your game every time you run into a tough enemy, either. You can only save at campfires (obviously inspired by Dark Souls). But unlike in Dark Souls where you can just reach out a hand and magically light a bonfire, you need a tinderbox to light a campfire. No magical lighting of fires here. Campfires are the only place where you can save your game, craft items, and rip items apart into raw materials. Enemies cannot draw near campfires, so they are the only safe places in the blocks. So I think by now you're getting the picture. While light is the most valuable thing in the game, tinderboxes are the right up there with it. You're going to need a lot of them. Moving on to the characters, you'll meet a variety of characters as you head down through the tower, all of them in the same situation as you are. As I said before, you can take characters you meet with you down into blocks. I mean, it's not like you can be a one-man army forever (unless...you really want to be). BUT. This is not the "hey, everyone's going to survive" game. Characters will die. Some of them, there's nothing you can do about it. Others, you might be able to save. Some won't die no matter what. But worst case scenario (I planned this out as I drew up an outline for the game), you go into the final boss alone. Might not be a bad idea to prepare yourself to be a one-man army if worst comes to worst. But honestly, you'd have to be pretty oblivious to not save a few people. You might wonder "what about the characters who won't die no matter what"? Who says that just because they make it to the final boss they'll be willing to fight it with you? Chew on that. Last but not least is social links. You can establish social links with other characters and and further your relationship with them during the breaks between blocks. Besides giving you insight into a character's backstory and their character, there are other benefits to social links. You just might be able to save some people from death if you make the right social links. But don't think that you can talk to everyone during a break floor and get your social link with everyone up. You'll be limited to spending time with others maybe three times per break floor. You'll be able to increase your social link with each character maybe 3-5 times (depending on the character), so there's no way you can max everyone out. Battle System: The battle system would be pretty well your typical turn-based RPG system, but with a different view. What I mean by that is it wouldn't be a sideview battle system, but a...backview battle system (that is a horrible term that I just coined, isn't it). You'd be looking at your character's backs (they'd be at the bottom of the screen), and the enemies would be up top. I'd be using Jet's Viewed Battle System script for this. Characters: Okay, now let's get into the characters you'll meet as you go through the tower. I'll just throw a brief description in for each (along with their character portrait, made with RPG Maker VX ace's face generator, using edited parts by Zombie Daisuke [have mercy on this poor soul for using RTP-looking stuff]). Name: Felton Job: Freelancer Brief Description: Felton is the protagonist of The Darkest Tower. He's an anxious coward, always extremely hesitant/fearful of facing danger head-on and exploring the unknown. Of particular note, he has nyctophobia, a severe fear of darkness. He heads down into the tower, clinging to the words of a mysterious voice, which assures him that the further he heads into the tower the more light he will find. Name: Jago* Job: Merchant Brief Description: Jago is the first person that Felton meets in the tower. He's a merchant who's all business, always subtly trying to steer the conversation towards the idea of purchasing something from him. Despite this, he seems to genuinely care for the other people in the tower, handing out advice and always being willing to help others out of binds. He dresses a bit strangely, wearing a cloak overtop of a business suit. *Note: Jago is one character that you can not bring into your party as you go down through blocks of the tower. Name: Etan Job: Healer Brief Description: Etan is a rather large, intimidating-looking old man with a gigantic scar over his left eye. Of course, appearances can be deceiving, as is the case here. Etan is a jolly old man with a heart of gold. He jumps to the aid of others at the moments notice and always seems to have a smile on his face. Still, you have to wonder where he got that scar... Name: Vittorio Job: Knight Brief Description: Vittorio is a young, handsome knight wearing a masquerade mask who believes himself to be practically invincible. Seriously. He's so cocky that he's deluded himself into believing that he can't die. He carries a certain charm about him, which he tries to use to get other guys to fall for him, primarily Felton. Vittorio thinks it's love at first sight when he first lays his eyes on Felton, but Felton might not feel the same way. Name: Rea Job: Witch Brief Description: Rea is a twelve-year-old witch with funny-looking ears. She claims she used her magic to modify her ears in such a way that she can hear better than any man or animal. Whether that's true or not...who can say? Even though she's underage, she's always drunk. Always. Her slurred speech and the never-fading smell of alcohol on her breath is more than enough to give that little tidbit of information away. Aerilyn Job: Dancer Brief Description: Simply put, Aerilyn is a a self-centered slut. She spends all of her time trying to get into the pants of whatever man she has her sights set on. She thinks she's God's gift to men. But strangely enough, she doesn't seem at all interested in getting into Felton's pants. In fact, she seems a bit hostile towards him. Does she just not like him, or is there more to it? Name: Xorn Job: Gunslinger Brief Description: This chubby, balding, middle-aged gunslinger thinks he's the best. He think's he's the coolest guy around. As if to reinforce that fact, he tells everyone that his name is Xorn, an obviously fictional name that he just made up to make himself sound cooler than he really is. When you get right down to it, he's actually a bumbling idiot. That doesn't stop him from trying to act cool, though. Name: Liseli Job: Vampire Brief Description: Liseli is a vampire, although she certainly doesn't come off as one. If anything, she seems like a princess, having a very refined air about her. She says that she's looking for someone in the tower, but how can she know that the person she's searching for is in the tower? Perhaps this elegant vampire knows more than she's letting on. Name: Tristana Job: Multi-Mage Brief Description: As a multi-mage, the sigil on Tristana's head allows her use magic of many kinds. She's also fairly adept in physical combat. But unfortunately, it can't all be good. While the sigil on her forehead gives her great powers, it has also caused her to have dissociative identity disorder, where she switches back and forth between multiple personalities quite suddenly. That can make her a bit of a pain to deal with (to put it lightly). Name: Toshihiro Job: Engineer Brief Description: While Toshihiro is rather young, he's a master engineer. A genius. Give him some junk and he'll turn it into gold, or so to speak. There's just one problem. Toshirio is a mute. He relies on sign language to speak to others. Of course, not many other people know sign language, but there is one person in the tower who does. Akule. Name: Akule Job: Thief Brief Description: Akule is a sullen old man shrouded in mystery. He has strange markings on his face and bandages wrapped around his head that he never takes off. He claims that he is a thief, but says little more beyond that. Despite his unwillingness to hold a conversation, he acts as a translator for the mute boy Toshihiro, as he is the only one in the tower who can understand sign language (as far anyone knows). Name: Itzal Job: Ninja Assassin Brief Description: Itzal is a self proclaimed "Ninja Assassin". It's funny that he says he's a Ninja Assassin, because he wears bright white clothing, the kind of clothing that no ninja or assassin in their right mind would wear (they'd stick out like a sore thumb). Personality-wise, Itzal is cheery. Really cheery. To the point where it's downright creepy. And that's just what Itzal is. Creepy. Name: Hosa Job: Monk Brief Description: Don't let her small frame throw you off. Hosa is a monk, and her punches pack one heck of a wallop. She doesn't really fit the "monk" image all that well. You would think that as a monk, she would be a peaceful sort of person, but Hosa has anger issues. She'll go off on anyone who gets in her way. But more than anyone else, she seems to hate Ruwa's guts. Name: Ruwa Job: Ranger Brief Description: Ruwa is a ranger, well-versed in flora and fauna and survival. She is also proficient with both a bow and a sword. She's a kind, polite schoolgirl, which just raises questions. What kind of schoolgirl knows so much about survival skills and plants/animals, on top of knowing how to use a bow and sword? And that's not all! Hosa seemingly hates Ruwa with a burning passion. What's up with that? Scripts: I've looked up some scripts and tested them all together to make sure that they would all work together and work how I would like them to. Just to give you an idea of what kinds of scripts I would use, here are the important ones: Khas Awesome Light Effects - Obvious one. For a game so heavily reliant on light and darkness, you'd need a serious script for light and darkness. This is that script. Jet's Viewed Battle System - Mentioned it before, but this is for the "backview" battle system. V's Relationship/Bio Window - Used for social links. I made some slight modifications to it (I don't know how to script, so I couldn't do much). A few are cosmetic. The largest modification makes it so that you can update a character's description. So after a character tells you something about their self I can reflect that in the description, like in Persona. Multiple Crafting Script (ported to VX Ace by Venka) - Used for the crafting system. Dismantle Items Script by Mr. Bubbles - Used to dismantle items. Yanfly Engine Ace: Save Script - Gives more detailed information when you save. I set it up to give you extra bits of information such as how many times you lit your torch, how many braziers/lanterns you've lit, how many campfires you've lit, how many floors down you are, and how many social links you've initiated. That's about it. I know it sounds like I'm already making this, but I haven't formally started it yet. I just set up the scripts to make sure that they'd all work together, made up the characters/an outline of the game, and made a test map to test the whole torch thing and whatnot. So for now, this is still a concept. I don't intend to start on it immediately, either. And if/when I do start on it, it's going to be a very casual development. I'm not going to be hitting this for hours and hours every day. Maybe just an hour or two here or there. It's certainly an ambitious concept. There's a lot going on. It'd be a boatload of work. Which is part of why it wouldn't be a good idea to go too hard on it. I have a tendency to overwork myself to the point of exhaustion when it comes to making things with RPG Maker, so I want to avoid that. So like I said before, any feedback would be appreciated. Want to know if it sounds like I'm onto something that sounds fun or not. Or maybe there's some glaring problem with it. I dunno. We'll see.
  2. RPG Maker used: RPG Maker VX Ace Genre: Fantasy About Dragon Reign: This game is a fantasy adventure where you go to different places. It is also a remake of my Eternal Destiny I just changed the title to fit the story better. The game will feature my own custom artwork and I'll try to make it the best I could. Not met to be rude or trying to be but please respect my story and DO NOT judge it before you play the game. I DO NOT care if its cliché. One thousand years ago in the world known as Vallan the Dragon of Darkness lived a castle called the Castle of Rubius. It was that it caused monsters to roam the world. The monsters would attack towns, villages, and cities once every month. However there was a young prince named Clovis who vowed to venture through the Castle of Rubius and destroy the dragon once and for all. The only to kill it though was with the legendary Dragon Sword that was hidden in the Shrine of Dakota for centuries. Clovis managed to obtain it though and went to the Castle of Rubius that had twenty floors. No one ever made it to the final floor though to fight the Dragon of Darkness. However with great effort Clovis made it to the last floor and managed to slay the dragon once in for all or so everyone thought. Afterword the Dragon Sword seemed to have lost its power, but Clovis returned it to the Shrine of Dakota regardless. Now that it has been one thousand years the Castle of Rubius reappeared about ten years ago and the monsters came back and began to roam the world once again attacking towns, villages, and cities once a month at least. This met that the Dragon of Darkness was back. So many great warriors, and knights tried to conquer the Castle of Rubius but all failed and never made it to the final floor. What many of them fail to realize is that they need the Dragon Sword to even put a mark on the Dragon of Darkness. The world: Vallan is a very mystical place with a lot of places to see and visit. However since the Castle of Rubius reappeared it has been very hard for people to travel from place to place do the the monsters roaming around. Please note I am not good at explaining my characters, so please at least give my game a chance. 4. Hello, Here is the presentation of my project : Eternal Heaven - Prologue Foreword I created this project for his huge, original and dark universe, but especially to intrigue the player, to ask himself questions about his society where he's gonna move up through his actions. But to determinate until where he will be able to go in his anti-conformist quest. Technical informations Project name: Eternal Heaven - Prologue Version: V. 1.2 Software: RPG Maker VX Ace EN Director: Ewaldar Team: - Creation: 01.10.2013 Gender: RPG Language: English(OV = French) World: Middle-Age Dark Fantasy, semi-open Age limitation: Strong langage + inapropriate content for youg Playtime: 30 minutes Introduction Eternal Heaven is divided into 5 continents, each having his own traditions, cultures, political and religious institutions, people, money. Here are some fundamental facts about Eridia (the one where you play): Synopsis Following the rape and the murder of your daughter Aliria and your wife Thalia by the Companions of Asis Zaheb (an old society to which you belonged to 30 years ago, but you leaved and betrayed), you cut yourself your throat to cancel the "Blood Debt". But, you assist soon to a very strange ritual and be revided by one the Height of Eridia, then the Companions have now a Blood debt too. A deal is proposed: to pick-up the black souls of the Companions - allowing you to resurect your family - but commiting the worst things ever... Until were will you go to save the one you love? Storyline You embody Reon Leoral, issue of a modest smith family, and you will help him in his Black Souls quest, in order to resurrect his family, murdered by an old society to which you belonged to in the past. Some old ghosts will appear and change your life forever. The storyline is narrated by differents situations, then you can switch between the mains characters (at specific moments). It allows to revive some scene from a differente view, and answering some questions you may have asked yourself. Background You start on the continent of Eridia, the most Eastern, whose towns and villages create a free kingdom of Men. You move half-freely in a universe with a difficult background: military wars, civilian conflicts, slaughters... A storm is coming on the kingdom, and no one cares. The political and religious institutions are greedy and persecute the unfaithfull civilian. The corruption and the fear are regular, and since the forbidden of the Magic by the High King, every one uses it illegally in their houses... Between taboos, religious and political conflicts, backstabber are essential to survive. Be on your guard or you will finish on a pike! Will you be strong enough to understand the rules of the game or will you let the other burry you with your morals? Characters introduction Mains - Monarchy His Grace Lodirion Mekor is the High King of Eridia. He’s married to Lady Lomia, High Queen. They have a legitimate son, Prince Luror, heir of Anor. His Grace is on his 80 years, and the carelessness of his son, then he refuse his son on the Throne. He leaves in the Castle of Anor, and rule (beside Eridia) especially the North (Anor, Meldir, Bramir and Almerios). His rule, strong and cold, particularly towars the common people, makes him feared, but respected by the Nobles and the Clergy. Her Grace Lady Lomia comes from Brenaïs, small and poor village from the very South. She leaves now at the Court, and has to serve her duties. She still sends goods to her native village. She’s younger of 30 years than her husband. Officially she prays the Heights of Eridia, but it’s only by duty. In her heart, she doesn’t vow to anything else than herself. Prince Luror is the heir of the Kingdom of Eridia. However, his father refuses him on the Throne, because Luror does not have women in his heart, but men. Stripling of 20 summers, he leaves at the Court where Lords and Nobles humiliate him about his sexuality. Sir Ulian Etard is the Lord of Anor, and his fiefdom of Bramir and Meldir. He is the first vassal of his Grace. Aged of around 70 years, he’s a 1st Rank member of the Assembly for 40 years, and many conflicts, crimes, wars and persecutions have been caused due to him. Smart, skilled and strong-minded, he wins to introduce his bastard daughter to the Court by marring her to a small Lord. He has now a strong support of the powerful (rich) Trades Islands. Sir Prelan Thorien is the Lord of Almerios and his fiefdom of the Old Forest. He is the 1st vassal of Lord Etard. Widowed of an Elf Duke of Vellaria, he must get married again (or he will lose his status, then he has no heir at the very moment). He doesn’t like cruelty or corruption, and try to stay loyal and fair in this dark world. Sir Sius Theard is the High Concillor of the Assembly. He was a reknown Knight for many years, before coming to Anor and study at the Court. He hate anything but white men, and many racist rules came from his fouled mind. He vows personally a worship to a cruel Orc Godess, whose aim is to offer human heart in dark rituals. Mains- Companions Reon Leoral is a modes smith from a poor family. For 13 generations, he works at the family smithy. He’s married to a trade woman, Thalia, and they have a daughter, Aliria. Alcoholic and sometimes violent, he is kind of soft in the head, anti-hierarchy and noblemen. He has no other lust than hosed his wife the most he can (and the ones in the whorehouses). He only believes in the worship of the Height, and curses the others who have other religious opinions. He acquired some skills with a sword, an axe or a dagger. Beaten up by his father during his childhood, he hates more than everything the rogues, and the criminals in the world. Thalia is a 40 years woman with an awful childhood: sold as whore by her mother, she ran away from whorehouses of the Islands and leaved them to go in Brenais, with a strong young man, called Reon. She’s very proud of her daughter Aliria is the only child of Thalia and Reon (thought he created a lot of bastards beside). She is open-minded, really like the men and help her parents to hold their shops. She dreams of a new life at the Court, where she could be married to a young, prestigious and beautiful Knight, to whom she would gave many heirs. Boram Gibeld is a foreign adventurer around 45 years. He fights with bows and daggers, but knows swinging a sword or an axe. He sells his skills for money. Worldmap Eridia Known as the Kingdom of the Fallen, in reference to its shocking history of a God declined in a human form, he was condemned to have committed a sin of the flesh with a mortal. Eridia extends from the city of Bramir, famous for its home-made beer, by way of the Royal Library of Tanaria, then Carallis, Capital of the South, famous for its impassable walls and his soldiers without fear, until go to Brenaïs, small common village, having seen being born from big personality, as High Queen Lomia Dambion. The Pass of the Cursed is year impassable mount during the winter, because it always roams terrified creature there, and roads are not safe, especially for storekeepers. The traders of Brenaïs lead by Sarith, village known for its tournaments and its traditional games. The inn of the Five Otters is particularly delicious), to go to Carallis. The Old Forest comes from the foundation of the Continent and many tales are told about her, you will find moreover a place of prayer for old Divinities, today vestiges of a civilization, the Merkhat. The Sacred Wood allows the prayer of the Gods of Eridia, worth knowing the Eight. Geârniòn It is the smallest one and year island having formerly belonged to the Merkhat, today disappeared. The majority of the inhabitants are of the race of the Men, came from Eridia at the time of the Conquests (185-422), but chased away during the conflicts of independence by the Dwarfs. Today, both races live in peace and trade regularly together. Berniòn and Merliòn are the only cities of the island, producing what the dwarfs know the best, worth knowing gold, silver, weapons and iron, steel, bronze (sometime gold to satisfy the whim of any Lord) armours,. The Men produce all which is to live and drink, and the beer of Merliòn is recognized, even to Eridia! The Wood of the Angels was created by the Men to have a place of prayer for their Gods. The Dwarfs have none, thus they do not believe in the superstitions and the legends, only what their eyes and their ears can bring back to them. Terhria We call it the Land of the Elves, because the large majority of its inhabitants are one of the peoples of the Elves. It extends from Bricia, the Great Capital of Terhria, known for its bows and arrows thanks to the elven knowledge, to go to the Black Forest, place of prayer for the elven divinities. They are Avatars representing virtues of the free people (Love, Friendship, Freedom, Solidarity, and Tolerance). Those statues have faces of the founding father, whose story is taught in all place of instruction. Terhiria go to Vellaria, whose port produces the biggest and most beautiful ships of the world. It is a major cultural city, in which you will find an elven library. All the books were translated by the Guild of the Mestre, people of the Men, came during the Great Conquests. Drorios Know under the name of Continent of Dead, then lived the peoples of the Spirits, race of ancients civilisations, today lost. They are generally calm and pacific, but as everywhere, there are exceptions. The Resting Woods and the Woods of Knowledge are places of prayer founded by the Men, during the Conquests. The Undying Mountains divides in two parts the continent and are kept by a dark people of powerful Spirit (Seniath). They demand taxes in order to pass the border and no one never passed without paying (but with his life). Quarhûg-Tirâsh The biggest continent, but almost uninhabited - only by some Orcs peoples, whose activities fell for centuries – of Eridia. They are generally a pacific people, and worship the both divinities of the continent (Death and Life). But the Radûk, a cruel people, worship several dark divinities (Animal and human offerings, torture, rape). The main commercial link of the Orcs are the Free City of Asquâl and the Ruby Isle. Orcs produce the big majority of artefacts (magical items) of the world. Only the Elves can produce them too. Free Cities They form the cities of Asquâl and Râhl, powerful military and commercial cities. They possess number of ships and convey food and equipment by the Trade Islands, whence wait the Elves, Orcs, Dwarves, Spirits and Men. The peoples come from the Men, came during the Great Conquests, and have been installed there in order to prosper the lands. There are no Lord, but Guilds who lead the cities, and they are (Mestre, Peasant, Trader, Wizard, and Smith). Islands Ruby Isle is famous for its production of blushing diamantes and its pearls, very valued by the Dwarves. The ruby is mainly traded with Orcs and Elves, because it possesses inherent magical virtues. Ruby Isle is leaded by a Lord of the Men. Trade Islands are the commercial center of the world. It’s from there that leave and arrive all the desired and produced merchandises. The Islands are leaded by a represent of each race, who form the Council of the Five, and have all power. 5. Save your Mother Abstract: Save your Mother is an upcoming commercial version of a highly succesful RPG Maker game that was created within the span of one month for the "Quest for Fun" contest. The original version won the first place and was downloaded by 39288 people before the download was removed. The commercial version improves on every single aspect of the original, including making many things from the ground up fresh and new, keeping many things that made the old game work but also improving on the format enough for a commercial release. Genre: Fantasy Engine: RPG Maker VX Ace Story I'll let this intro video tell the story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQox4_yPPnw Setting The game takes place in the same Megaverse as all my other projects, as such there is a rich and robust world to build with the mythos of over 15 years of game making. The timeline for the game takes place about 500 years in the New World after the Old World was destroyed by the War of Gods, if anyone is interested or well versed in my mythos. Characters There are quite several colorful characters in the game, here are just few important ones. Alice Alice is the main character of the game, as well as the avatar the player controls throughout the game. She is a renowed scholar nicknamed "Silver Scholar" due to the coloring of her hair. She uses her knowledge and skills to find out about the legend of Elohim Cube as well as making use of it in solving the various tasks that wait inside. Jenna Jenna is the rival you meet early into the game. She wants to obtain the cube as well for her own sake, though she wishes to sell the cube and earn a fortune from it. Jenna is unlike Alice, very streetsmarts girl and doesn't shy away from using dirty tactics. She and Alice are against each other but for no personal reason but rather them both having a common goal. Elisa Elisa is the mother of Alice who has grown ill. Alice knows that nothing can cure her mother but the Elohim Cube, she has already tried everything but no ailment has worked, not even out of ordinary cures. The game ends if she dies. Credits Story by me Characters by me Art by Mamabliss Character graphics by CosmicKitty Music by Joel Steudler Scripts by Moghunter, Yanfly, Victor Saint and Modern Algebra. Screenshots Features - A game about puzzle and action, very gameplay oriented adventure - Fast paced combat with epic, grand special moves. - Engaging characters and plot - Characters lips move as they talk and they blink and act naturally, unique feature in RPG Maker games! - Beautiful 2D visuals and inspiring soundtrack does invoke feelings of fear, awesomeness, and getting you pumped up for the challenges. - Achievements (possibly) FAQ Q: Will there be a Kickstarter/Indiegogo/Whatever? A: Sadly, no. While I would love nothing more than to get a fundraiser to be able to pay off some extra resources as well as possibly hiring voice actors, my country's idiotic laws prevent me from doing so. Everything about this game has been funded directly from my personal money that I was saving for years for this exact reason. Q: I'm a composer and I'd like to do the soundtrack for this game, how do I come about to contacting you? A: As flattered as I am, I sadly had to turn away already two very talented soundtrack artists. To be 100% honest, the game already has soundtrack and I've already paid for it.
  6. Log Horizon for Ace Script Author: Soulpour777 What exactly is Log Horizon? Before I start breaking down the systems I was curious to create, here is an information what Log Horizon is: Now that you've learned what it is, now I can start discussing the things I am planning to make out of this one. Q: What are the systems you're going to make, Soul? A: Pretty much, right now, I have made 2 among the many that LH has, so I'll break down the ones I haven't finished yet. I will also link the script locations of the ones I already finished. FINISHED LOG HORIZON SCRIPTS: Log Horizon - Experience Pot System This script enables the party members lower than Level 30 or (user defined) to gain experience pots, an item that gives them boost on experience and fighting abilities. Log Horizon - Random Message This script allows your contacts (set up from the arrays) to call you and would tell you random messages. The developer could also set it up for the messages, so the contacts can also give random tips, tutorials or any of the kind. This is a mimic of Log Horizon’s contact system, where all possible guild mates or connected contacts can give you messages. Log Horizon - Patrol File System Patrol File is a way to maintain your formation and field monitoring. The first and the last members in line cover each other's view, so attackers and healers can focus on their jobs as the party moves. Log Horizon - Row Damage Modifier This script allows a change of damage only for a certain row of actors. This means that if an actor is in the position indicated on the script, the actor will have a different damage to deal. This by means that all other actors that are not involved in the damage modifier will still deal the normal damage they have to. This is to encompass the Patrol File System. NOT-YET FINISHED / NOT YET STARTED LOG HORIZON SCRIPTS Log Horizon - Overskills An overskill (Kuden) is the capability of using one's abilities, after the Apocalypse, in a way that was not intended by the game. It is discovered through experimentation, but are also often difficult to master without training and research. An overskill mainly, is a skill that works in or outside battle which is only available to each specific class. Log Horizon - Psyche and Anima System The body of the player and the avatar becomes one and are connected. Therefore, when the player dies, it affects their psyche and anima, in the game, being their HP and MP. It is also relevant that if someone dies, they loses memory from the real world. In this system, I am planning to implement that if a character dies, they will lose Experience Points. Log Horizon - Skill Cooldown The skills will not be always available. They can only be casted within a turn skill cooldown. Log Horizon - Cathedral System All characters that dies are respawned in the Cathedral. I am planning to do this (in after battle). Log Horizon - HUD The character HUD for the player. Log Horizon - Menu A simple menu background style for the player.

Recruitment: I require the following: Artists, Pixel Artists, Animators, Voice Actors Story: A peaceful time has overtaken the land. No conflict, no worries, almost a seemingly perfect world. Well, for the dragons anyway. During a royal ceremony for the D'Laure kingdom, a large airship, known to the dragons as a Dreadnaught, arrives and begins an onslaught of destruction across the continent of Thyme. The dragons, growing fearful that their peace has ended, begin to fight against one another, throwing blame and suspicions around the world. One dragon, Drahcir, and his friends decide it is up to them to find out where the ship came from, and who in controlling it. Although, they might not like the answer they find... Setting: Current Year: 6277 AD or Cycle 850 (1 Cycle = 5 Years) Current Place: Thyme Continent, New Earth Kingdoms: D'Laure, Syfir, Eilure, Tharos, Shira Character Bios: Drahcir Krael Race: Syfir Age: 20cy Birthplace: ??? --A dragon born into the world with no family, Drahcir has made himself to be an upstanding young person. Thoughtful, kind, and generous, there aren't many people who dislike him. At the age of 4, he was adopted by Brutus Krael, a citizen of Phal Village in the D'Laure kingdom. With only a single memory of his parents, he wonders where they might be; could they be missing, dead, or... Xiphara 'Xipha' D'Laure Race: D'Laure Age: 21cy Birthplace: Krysta, D'Laure Kingdom --The heir to her namesake, Xipha has a large name to live up to. This year is the year of her Ceremony of Choice, where she takes her first steps into adulthood by choosing a mate picked out from several places throughout the continent. Is it perhaps fate that takes the ceremony to the tiny village of Phal? Zeke Krael Race: Tharos Age: 23cy Birthplace:Teran Village, Tharos --Zeke is a temperamental hothead. Being the only Tharosian dragon alive with the power over earthen elements, he has been forced to spend his time working, studying, and the like, even though he'd much rather spend time having fun. Once his father brought Drahcir home, however, he almost stopped getting any attention whatsoever. This caused him to grow animosity toward his step-brother, but didn't really affect the way he acted towards him. There is one thing, though, that he will never be able to forgive... Cora Raines Race: Eilure Age: 19cy Birthplace: Krilla Village, Eilure --A sweet, innocent young dragon, it took some time for Cora to show friendliness to anyone she met, including Drahcir and Zeke. After escaping her home village at 6cy, they moved to Phal where her father owns the most successful trade shop in the kingdom. 11. I've had ideas about this game for years now. Ever since I started tinkering with RPG Maker 95 long ago, I've wanted to make my own game. Not knowing a lot about events and scripting I never really finished a game, just bits and pieces. However, now that I’m older, have a job working with basic scripts I have a better understanding of how they work, and how events work. I set out to create a game, with a unique story line with more than just one linear path. A story that as the player progresses through the game, a deeper story helps pull everything together and answers all the missing pieces. In my synopsis I will give part of the story to the game, explaining pretty much the base overview of what is going on without giving away too much. If anyone would like a little more insight on it, simply send me a PM. Note: This game is for non-commercial use. 4 playable characters A strategic and balanced battle system Unique challenging boss battle scripts Challenging dungeons that will test even the most skilled players Several open field maps filled with side quests that will help reward the player Secrets are spread about the game, don’t be afraid to look around Again this game is in its early state. Anything on this page is subject to change. PLEASE, if you have any opinions on anything on this post feel free to give me your thoughts, both good and bad. This is my first project and I know its a massive one to take on from what I have so far, but I feel if I can knock this one out of the park the others I make will be that much easier. Any suggestions you may have is welcome too. I will be checking this post daily to answer any questions anyone might have. And finally, thanks to everyone who helps and supports my game.
  12. A classic fantasy turn-based RPG created on video Full Installer Package DOWNLOAD LINK If you have the VX Ace RTP or editor already installed LITE VERSION WITHOUT RTP NOW AVAILABLE ON THE STEAM WORKSHOP! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=232438845 Hello, friends, and welcome to Tutorial Town v1.01! This is a game created as a teaching tool for beginners utilizing nothing but the default product out of the box. I recorded the creation of this game as a video tutorial series for YouTube and hundreds of people have already enjoyed learning with me. Genre: Tutorial Town is a classically-styled turn-based fantasy RPG with a simple, timeless story. Game Progression: The story is entirely completable with roughly 3-4 hours of gameplay, and the game is now at a point of polishing, bug-fixing, and optional additions, such as more mini-games and side quests. Features include a working clock and calendar, slot machine, class trainers, several different types of sidequests, puzzles and many cutscenes. Story / Setting / Purpose: Greenfar Island has been a quiet place for hundreds of years, but lately the creatures have been acting scared and aggressive. Something has them stirred up. And the orcs have been seen outside of their home in Gob-rox cave, harassing travellers and attacking families as though looking for someone. It soon becomes clear that an evil plan is afoot! Can you stop the mysterious cloaked figure from fulfilling his nefarious plans? Many hazards stand in your way. Will you be able to overcome? Character Bios: There is only a single main character: the one you make. You start off as the teen child of the Mayor of Tutorial Town, a peaceful village in the wooded foothills of the Highrock Mountains, with a loving family and friendly neighbors. You have full freedom to create a character of either gender with a selection of classes. Features: All features and systems can be seen in great detail in the video series meant to accompany this game. There is a forum topic containing all the videos which can be located here, and I'll also put the first video of the series below. It is highly recommended that you play through the game before watching the series if you wish to get full enjoyment of the story. Feedback is always welcome in any of the several places where this series is discussed. Links to the "lite" versions of the .exe meant for the editor can be found in the descriptions of each video after the fourth with the most recent video, of course, containing the most recent iteration of the small file. *WARNING* The following video and all others in the series contain major spoilers *WARNING* Alternate Download If the download link provided above isn't working, try this one: Alternate Link Please, only use this link if the one above will not work for you. By using the main download link, you allow me to track the number of times the file has been downloaded, which I find to be an important (or at least interesting) metric. Credits: This game was created utilizing the default product and nothing else. No scripts. No outside artwork or music. Not even the ReStaff Resources. Thanks to: Enterbrain and the RPG Maker staff for great products over the years. My wife for understanding and encouragement. Adon for inspiring visible encounters. Onyxtanuki for playtesting and feedback above and beyond the call of duty. Torencresent for suggesting save points. Everyone who has watched and commented along the way here, on Steam and on YouTube. AND YOU! Thanks for playing Tutorial Town!

  15. Welcome to the official thread, for my new RPG game, Spirit's Of Time. This project has been worked on and off since 2008, and after countless restarts, storylines and switching computers, I'm finally in a position to try and make a full game, out of a storyline which has strong themes. I originally brought this to other communities as a game called 'Realms', which then evolved into 'Final Realm' - which was the reason this thread was initially titled as such. The 'Final Realm' project went on for a couple of years, and realistically looking back became a training exercise for me, to improve my skills. Final Realm, eventually became obsolete due to a computer change, although I still had copies of the map files, which was what I decided to take through to my next project; thus 'Spirit's of Time' was born. This project has been completely run by me, however help has been given by people of this community - Rivaan and Apoc, are the people I need to thank for this, as without you my character designs wouldn't of improved. Anyway I hope to get assistance to what I hope and believe will turn out to be a great game for the community to enjoy; and then perhaps have an ongoing series, if the game meets consumer needs. Working by myself up until this point has been rather tedious and slow; and due to my lacking ability in certain areas of Rpg design; only certain parts of the game have progressed. Thanks for reading through this Introduction, and I hope that you will continue reading and give me feedback upon my ideas and game overall. 3/11/2013 - Overhauled Thread. This storyline is split into three main parts, The World Of Eraeta (E-ray-ta), The Spiritus War (Spirit-us) and the Main Storyline, the latter of which you will be experiencing through playing the game. The world of Eraeta is made up of three continents - one in the east, one in the west and one covering both the northern and southern hemisphere. The continent of Valuria had most of the landmass which was inhabitable, as they had conquered the other areas that existed in Eraeta. This era of peace; lasted for many decades. More and more settlements and villages were built on the continents of Valuria and Meludia, and races were brought together by commerce and friendships were forged between waring settlements. Eraeta's history is both mostly known, it is said a Nomadic race settled here came from another world after it was destroyed by meteors; the race (Seres (Ce-ris)) couldn't acclimatise to the environment of Eraeta at the time, and went underground; which resulted into racial subgroups of Fairis and Nekosa. Some stayed above surface, building contraptions which have been lost to time; ancient illustrations depict the evolution of the Seres who lived above ground, turning into monsters. After some time the Seres, stumbled across other Nomadic groups - which have evolved naturally on Eraeta, who had a natural affinity with time - these people were known as the Aethiris, which were split into three sub-groups - Elvern,Humae and Dwarfins. Friendships grew between these two races, resulting in more and more races, which eventually populated the world of Eraeta. The originally lines of Seres and Aetheris eventually died out; with the blood of these ancient folk dwindling with the generations that followed. The atmosphere on Eraeta eventually became stable enough to sustain life on it's surface. Eraeta, began to run out of natural resources - alternatives were tried, but none released enough energy to supply the world with power . The line of Seres, began to run experiments on their fellow Aetheris due to their connections with time. They used their life energy to create power, for the people continue living. Many people thought that this was abominable and that they would rather die then use someone else's life to keep themselves alive. This caused uprising within both Valuria and Meludia, with the Seres and Aetheris eventually splitting from the main continent of Arkadia; each locating to the other two continents - Valuria became the home of the Aetheris; with the sub-groups of Humae, Elvern and Nekosa inhabiting the continent. The Seres relocated to Meludia; with the sub-groups of Dwarfins and Fairis inhabiting Meludia. Thus the Spiritus War began. This war eventually became a war of magic and time; with the Seres using their magical powers, and the Aetheris using their control over time. Monuments were built to harness both the power of magic and time, and were used as beacons to rile the people of the warring nations, and force them into battle. Many people died over the course of the war, with no clear winner in sight. Eventually, a man by the name of Erasmus' Talen appeared out from beneath Eraeta's surface which was known as the Underground world of Teirm in which the Escarpa Troupe, was said to be working on ways of keeping Eraeta from plunging into destruction. Erasmus was claiming to have devised a way of using both time and magic in conjunction with each other to create infinite amounts of energy for the people of Eraeta to use. The future of Eraeta seemed sealed, and appeared to be everlasting. Erasmus' plan was to use time and magic to create ideals which could be thrown into the gates known as Memoris Gates. Many believed this was the solution to all of Eraeta's problems, and the Calm of Eternity was said to have began. A few months passed, and the Erasmus' findings eventually lead to destruction; his creation the Memoris Gate located in the Amser Tower, began to malfunction - magic and time seemingly vanished from the world and Eraeta was plunged into an era of darkness. Erasmus rushed to close the main portal, however the time-line of Eraeta began to leak into the present day. Erasmus' died that day, trying to prevent Eraeta's destruction. Monsters once again began to roam, rampaging across the land, leaving devastation in their wake; burning villages and towns, killing innocent people. Erasmus' attempt to improve life on Eraeta had ended in disaster. The war was over but Eraeta's future was unclear... The warring nations of Valuria and Meludia lay in tatters, the remaining groups moved back to Arkadia; people rebuilt their lives and Eraeta was seemingly heading towards a spiral of death, nothing could be done to save these people. People began to create resistances, and fought against the Kingdom of Arkadia in an attempt to get the King to do something, about their impending doom. Those who believed in Erasmus' and thought that the malfunction was purposely caused called themselves the Alliance, believing that the main problem lay with the King of Arkadia. Our story starts, with our protagonist Selene Sorrell, a leading general of the 12th Arkadian fleet; reporting for duty in the King's chambers. Selene Sorrell, is an orphan; purposely trained to be the best general that Arkadia has ever seen. Adopted by the King himself, Selene effectively became princess of Arkadia. At the age of 23, she became the leader of the 12th Arkadian fleet, a position only the best warriors can attain. He believes that an uprising is starting within the town of Archis, which lies on the ourskirts of the City of Arkadia - caused by a sub-group of The Alliance, who are known as F.A.T.E (Fighting Against Tyrants Everywhere) or Fate, as it was commonly known. They believe that the King has something to do with the destruction of Erasmus' Memoris Gate. FATE, have been fighting against Arkadia for many years; and are trying to depose the King and try and get Eraeta's future in the hands of people. Part of this group is none other then Helios Sorrell, our other protagonist - separated from Selene at birth, Helios resents everything to do with the Arkadian Empire, due to the death of his surrogate parents. Unknown to the pair, this meeting will change both of there lives.. And the future of Eraeta. Not all characters are mentioned below, this is done to keep plot points hidden. SELENE SORRELL - The Empire is all I've known.. Am I truly living a life... HELIOS SORRELL - I fight for what I believe in, no matter the road which leads me. LARISSA KUNIGARI - I will not be forgotten... And I will rebuild Lamiamar! ZECELE ESTABAR - Without glory, what do we aim for? ETHRIE ESCARPA - Actions speak louder then words... ERUFA VALENHART - Feelings can lead the way... But they can also blind you... CASTOS DIOSCURI - The power of two cannot be beat. POLLUS DIOSCURI - Be beat the power of two cannot... WINTER - .... CAPTAIN ELDERBERT FRONK - Orders are important, follow them to the letter. Most of features are ones which I hope to implement. ~ Sideview Battle System with ATB Functionality (Semi-Implemented) ~ Unique Menu Options ~ Character Stage Progression ~ Completely Original Graphics ~ Legendary Boss Battles ~ Hunts/Marks ~ Bestairy ~ Day and Night System ~ Recruitable Animal Party Member which evolves through CSP. What is CSP? Character Stage Progression, is similar to how the Elder Scrolls level progression works, combined with Final Fantasy V's Job System. By reaching a certain level, a Characters Class will evolve to increase the attributes of the character who is currently attached to that class, for example - A Male Warrior, would get 500+ increase to HP, when upgrading to a Knight. The player will then have an option to change the character's class, to something else, or keep it the same, which allows for heavily customized attributes for each character, so it suits to the player's gameplay style. For Example: Warrior > LVL 10 > Knight > Change Class > Magician - Still with the 500+ HP and the bonuses that being a magician bring. None As Of Yet. None As Of Yet. 16. Genre: Fantasy RPG Progress: Early Development What if your dream is a sign of something big that is inevitable. What if your dream is telling something that you can't understand. What if your dream is not just a dream. People said that dreams are not true, they are just images from your past experiences that are collected by your subconscious mind and stitched together to form a world that sometimes will make you happy, and sometimes will scare you. But what is dream really all about? This game will show you how a young squire dreamed of unknown places and people that keeps telling him of something that he cannot understand, things that are beyond his control, and things that sooner will become a reality that will change not only his destiny but the fate of the world. Raine - Main hero of the story, a very loving son to his mother and an aspiring squire to become a great knight. He have the Intelligence and the skills, but he is a bit childish. He's sword skills are exceptional because he learned it from his late father, a great samurai that once hailed as the great knight of their town. Rohan - Raine's best friend and also a exceptional squire, he is Raine's partner in everything, they study together, they fight together. Hes not a good swordsman, but he's magical skills are superior to everyone in their land. Shekinah - A mysterious girl that will join them. ( I will not show her bio since it will spoil the story) Enemies and bosses will not be included here, since they are all part of the revelation in game (Story) Yanfly + Dr.Yami scripts = Symphony (Can be used for commercial and non-commercial games) Thank you so much from the scripts that you donated in the forum, I customized it a little to fit my game. The scripts are working great. Side view Battle System + Animated characters. Enterbrain = For creating such a wonderful engine and thank you also for the default sprites that I edited to move, without your sprites, there will be no monsters in my game. Also, thank you for the very customizable game engine. Holders - Eventhough, I did not use his sprites, It gave me ideas on how to create sprites from scratch, it gave me idea on how I can animate the sprites. So thanks to your skills, I have made mine by myself. Aside from those person above, there are no other scripts and sprites that helped me, I created everything from scratch, even the fogs, lamp lights and sun rays from adobe Photoshop. I also do some script editing and so much eventing so thanks to me. Dream World Town of Valenzuela (Sorry, if its not full, the map is a bit huge) Cave of Valenzuela Monument of the God of War (Not yet done) One of my full maps Town of the Elves (Sorry if the picture was cut again, the map is so huge. Basic Side view but with animation As you can see, I have created a animated hero, as well as I made the default vampire and slime animated. To further showcase what I have done, here is a short video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZZM8qOO0fY I hope you like my introduction for the game that I am currently developing, and I am kind expecting feedbacks and comments, positive or negative that can help me finish this project. Thank you have happy game making. Features Hehe, a bit small, just a typical rpg game, but will surprise the players on some maps. Maybe they will feel lost in some maps, not just because of map being too huge, but also because of some tricks, that I will show in-game. And I do not know if you can call this feature but uhm, I am currently working on 132 maps, Interior, Exterior and Dungeon. I'm sure your asking why that huge, well the story is really long. So many twist, so many surprises. Oh, by the way, if you find my mapping skills awful, please spare me, haha, I am a bit new in rpg maker vx ace. I've been a member of the forums since 2012, but I started developing in this engine just 2 weeks back. Hehe. Please teach me anything, or just give me some few helpful tips that can make this game, a good one.

Story Characters Costan - Protagonist Kiren - Follower Tira - Follower 'Stranmor' - Story Antagonist Eledron - Antagonist Factions Credits List Screenshots 14 November 2013 Features List Feel free to ask questions, I'll do my best to answer them all if I can.
  18. I'm looking for feedback A pilot concept revolving around three ideas: - a seemingly deserted island, home to a shadowy abandoned laboratory - survival i.e. gather sources of food ( berries, fish etc), water and shelter while building vehicle components. - building a relationship with the island's native inhabitants who are anthropomorphic (furries); later (storyline-wise) gameplay is carried out by the player's children. The synopsis: The player character was/is a geneticist working on a government project to extend the boundaries of science, by making animals more human. Something goes wrong and the project is shut down, the experiments are released into the island ecosystem and everyone forgets the event ever happened Ten years later, the player is on a flight to visit their fiancée in another country... However unbeknownst to them, the flight path takes them over the island; resulting in instrument failure and the plane crashes.... Two people survive, the player and one of the island's security officers as the plane is going down; the security officer parachutes out and lands elsewhere on the island. The player has to survive the first night, by building a crude shelter whilst finding medical supplies to heal themselves before they lose too much blood. Cue the following day, where they can go exploring, food and water collecting.... Eventually you will come across one of the locals; complete with the associated dialogue, fetch quests and other hilarious hijinks. Long story short, the player begins to remember their past and their involvement in the island's past. Will they figure out the truth, will they fix the plane in time or will they choose to settle down with one lucky NPC (or all of the generation 1 NPCs)? The game takes place over three generations of characters. Arc 1 is the player's story. Arc 2 is their children's ( the player would be in their fifties) Arc 3 is their grandchildren's story and the player and spouse would be dead. Other little bits of information: This project is mostly revolves around the idea of a family and furries; I understand that there will be certain items which may either offend, start a flame war or find funny as there will be innuendos and some explicit nature... The art style is currently being debated btween myself and the artist; hopefully a colour scheme darker the default tile sets. Currently I'm playing around with variables for the mining and crafting system. Scripts: Glav's message busts Apellonyx's survival system So feel free to provide positive and negative feedback. If anyone is wondering why the paragraphs and gammer/punctuation look odd, I'm using a iPhone so still learning the whole interface.
  19. The Dark Castle A young boy "Zen" accepts a bet from his friends to stay a night in a supposedly haunted castle. He tries to put on a brave face but in reality he is scared out of his mind. As he explores the castle it turns out to be even a bigger problem than he anticipated. Main Characters: Zen: A young boy who is a complete coward but tries not to show that side of him. He plays a lot of video games and tends to compare what he sees in real life to something in a game. Banshee: A Mysterious being that claims to be a Banshee. She/he attempts to help Zen in puzzles as he progresses through the castle. Screenies: Credits: Credits for scripts goes to Khas for Khas lighting effects Khas for Khas pixel movements Raizen for Lune smooth camera sliding Nicke for Xail-Menu System Credits for tilesets goes to Celianna for her amazing tilesets What I'm looking for: Criticism,no matter how harsh it may be. I'm also looking for someone kind enough to provide artwork for me. FEW UNRELATED NOTES: This game was worked on in a very old computer last year. Recently i built my own gaming PC so i can finally continue working on it again. I am 14 years old and i'm taking up programming classes since I've always wanted to be a game programmer. I'm using RPG maker VX ACE as a sort of starting point into this path. I have a video that i posted a while ago on youtube for you to see of the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUjNO_LWSEk WARNING: Crappy jumpscare i made when i was 13.

    Of Man and Machine

Of Man and Macine: Lore: The people of Unda are a diverse people, comprising of elves, humans and dwarfs. They all mostly got along each helping the other to grow and expand the civilization. The dwarfs helped by building machina that could build things faster, and destroy monsters in their way. The elves helped with their magic and the humans helped with their ambition for more land. So they grew and expanded until a war happened between the north of Unda and the south. The people of Unda had gotten greedy and wanted more for themselves. They used the machina that were created to help people were used to rob and kill to achieve power and fortune in any way possible. The war ravaged the southern part of Unda, turning it into a desert wasteland. Many of the small towns and cities were destroyed and abandoned to the desert sands and lost to time. Many of the people of the southern part of Unda hate machina and believe that they are the root of all evil. The northern part of Unda believes that it depends on the user and that they can learn from the past. The elves hate machina more than ever because it destroyed most of their forest homelands. The dwarfs are for machina so long as it is used for good and to help people. The humans are spilt because half of Unda because a desert wasteland while the other stayed pretty much the same. Story: Cara and her brother Kyn live in a small village in the southern part of Unda. Machina and anything to deal with it is outlawed in south. Cara was told by a passing dwarf that it was the people that had corrupted the machina and used it to get whatever they wanted in the past and cause a war. This made Cara question the way that her people thought and decided that the dwarf was right. She and her brother begin to do quests to collect the money they need to collect machina parts. When it is found out by the townsfolk that they were doing this they were banished from the town and told never to return again and put on the watch list. Demo: Send space: <removed link>
  21. Star's Keep Story: The world of Havaar is thick with blood. The land is still recovering from the two-century long Purge: a war that eradicated the demon-kin from the land.It was not a simple task; they were many and they were merciless. In the end, only six countries were left among the dozens. Desperate for a victory, the mages of Havaar united to destroy the demon-kin. Their success came at a heavy price, and the scarred land begun to rot. Salvation came in the form of the Monuments, seven pillars that held the remaining essences of the land in place. Seven of the world's strongest mages sacrificed their lives to create these life-saving relics. Slowly, the land recovered, and people came to forget the demons that nearly destroyed them. One day, the Monument of Earth begins to act strangely, catapulting the surrounding area into chaos... Character Bios: Malcom Age: 23 Hometown: Rosewood Bio: A laid-back guy with a mischveious streak, Malcom is a big prankster with a carefree lifestlye. Though his lax nature may make him seem irresponsible and childish, he is very reliable. He has a major crush on Jasmine, but he can't seem to win her attentions... Ian Age: 25 Hometown: Zephyr Bio: A rather dour man who can't seem to lighten up, Ian is a childhood friend of Malcom. He is serious to a fault and a bit overprotective of his sister, Jasmine. Jasmine Age: 22 Hometown: Zephyr Bio: Jasmine is a sweet girl with a shocking temper. Her greatest ambition is to become an alchemist, but Ian has a hard time with letting her leave to become an apprentice. She continually sneaks out of town, only to get caught time and time again. Her recent illness has left her bedridden though... Rin Age: ??? Hometown: ??? An enigmatic elf with an energetic, outgoing nature. She seems very much clueless about human life and is extremely curious when it comes to them. Credits: All graphics, sprites, and scripts are default RTP or generator made. (Except Jasmine's bed-pose and Rin's neutral face. I just did a very simple edit.) Features: This game will include classic RPG-style puzzles, mini-quests, mazes, and more! All done without custom scripting! The main goal I have is to prove that RTP and default scripts does not equal bad game! Changelog V0.2 Simplified the vine map slightly and fixed several odd bugs. 22. Working on this project for the last 6 months on and off (as time allows), I feel it is to the point where I can confidently announce it (without it being looked at as vaporware). Yes, this is my first project and even though I have dabbled in RPG Maker over the years (dating back to 95), I have never actually dedicated the amount of time to one as I have this one. Maybe it's because of what VX Ace offers, or maybe its because I've learned how to plan out a project so I actually finish it. Either way, I pride myself on perfectionism and attention to detail, so I more than welcome constructive criticism, suggestions, and compliments. I hope to have a playable demo available in the next month or so as I wrap up the balance, database, and enemy encounters. You can follow my progress more intimately, see how the game has changed since the beginning, and even watch a couple (bland) YouTube videos I have posted for it on my blog at: BesusProductions.com Anyhow, without further adieu... Just over a thousand years ago, humans were seen as the superior species on the planet, however their physical limitations held them back. Because of this, Idol’s (the guardians of the planet Vole) helped to aid their physical shortcomings by granting them Enchantment. Using Enchantment, humans were able to accomplish tasks that were either too difficult, or downright impossible to accomplish physically. For decades, humans thrived from these powers. However after a rebel group began to abuse these powers, the Idols thought it would be best to take it away from everyone before more began to abuse them. Now, two-thousand years after Enchantment was taken away, humans go about their lives as normal; often yearning for the days they had those powers. Shortly after these abilities were taken away, the Idol island of Graven fell from the sky. Little is known regarding why, but when the island fell, it took all traces of Enchantment with it. Lately rumors have begun circulating that Enchantment may still be present on the planet. This has caused some excitement throughout the world and caught the attention of Armor. Because of this, Armor’s entire focus has gone toward re-discovering this lost power, changing the once-respected organization in to a common enemy of the people they once protected. Armor’s obsession will soon lead them to find out just how powerful Enchantment is; and what repercussions pursuing that power will have on them and the planet of Vole. Sideview, ATB-based combat system. Ability to chain skills together for one long combination of attacks. No random encounters! Enemies chase or flee from you based on your level. No "walls of text" throwing countless story elements at you. Everything is shown through cutscenes. Still fine-tuning gameplay aspects, so other features may find their way in to the game. Updated 5/28/2013 The Ethereal Plains Demo (Version 1.03) Or if you want it with the RTP included: The Ethereal Plains Demo with RTP (Version 1.03) You can also find the official blog post about it here: http://www.besusproductions.com/?p=524 Finally, please report any bugs you encounter, or provide constructive feedback! 23. Welcome Hello Fellow Dev's. In a testament to listening to advice and basically in the hopes of finding my way with this project of mine, i decided to start a blog for that very purpose, This blog will be updated regularly with information about the game, What that entails exactly will be explored more later on. First though a little Information as to what TFS (The Four Stones) is all about, and why i'm choosing to "market" it this way. The Four Stones is a mold of countless ideas, merged together into one. It started life as " A tale of watcher world and dreams", Which then developed into "Label". Each progression focused on a different element of eventing, and so my very first project with RPGmaker was in fact " A tale of watcher' " and this well and truly failed. The idea was far to grand for my "skill". Label worked a little better, but the premise of that game was to place the player in the middle of events which happened regardless of the players "taking part". This "not about you" approach really interested me in terms of developing a story line. Since it created the sense of realism which isn't really found in games ( i could name a few in this style, Way of the samurai for example had elements of this). i stopped working on Label because the massive amounts of Story line it required, and The Four Stones was born. Through both of those ideas it became a medley of ideas. which slowly came into its own. Writing is my "skill" in terms of game making anyway, i'm more a writer than an artist and so like any good writer, The Four Stones is a living breathing world to me, I know its origins, its demise, and everything in between, i know the people who inhabit it, all of them, there flaws there strengths, the twists and turns the weak and the poor. My aim with TFS is to make this come alive in the game. Whilst the focus of the game might not be on "the big picture" like with label, i really want the world to come alive. Setting TFS is set on a world called Terrae, home to a rift in space and time. Life was created through this rift, and the inhabitants of this world feared its power. They created The order of the Watch. Four sacrifices linked together and turned to stone to protect the world from its "mother" as spirits. As time went on the influence of the order, and the faith attached to it waned. The people of Terrae forgetting about the sacrifice and the protection, choosing to live their lives unburdened by thanks, and as the order dissipated into the background a patient man chose his moment to act. Manipulating the power of the Watchers to draw a powerful being through the rift. This being threatens the world of Terrae, That's where you come into play. Drawn through the rift as a natural accident, you find yourself in a strange world with no memory of your past and a strange mysterious lady calling on you for help. In return she promises answers, and a way home. Don't let this simple synopsis fool you. This is a very deep and detailed story, which is really hard to leak information about since i want to keep the twists and turns secret, perhaps this is the place to share those... if it is let me know and i may share more information. Lets just say, the deal is more than you bargained for, and as you journey and adventure through Terrae with the weight of the people on your back and the friends you meet by your side. There is no true happy ending only loss, sacrifice and betrayal. The choices you make impact the very world around you, They have a real impact, effecting the journey a head. Messy details TFS is currently in development for the PC, i'm using RPGmakerVXace for the development, with heavily edited default graphics. This is not going to contain completely original work, the reason for this is there is only me working on the actual game elements, and a "partner" to the founded Indie Dev team "Soft-Squares" working on the music. (least their is that to look forward to). Apart from a few scripts to alter battle and the Class system, most of the game is controlled via background events which work on a rota basis. (this is to ensure low processing, each event rolls through when needed and turns off when its not needed). Although we are using a script to control for the class system this too is "managed" by a event, controlling what options are available etc. Users will be able to switch class on certain characters once they are unlocked should need be. There is plans to release this game for android, this wont start till the PC version is completed, and obviously will be produced under a different maker (most likely Game Maker). There aren't many details on this yet however, because we don't know the limitations of androids or the game size for that matter. Most likely the game will be released in a sort of "chapter" style (so four main parts). Features The game has many features already even though it is so early on in its development, Most of these systems have been adapted on or rewritten, so the "announced ones" previous to this date may have changed. I will only cover these briefly as i plan to elaborate in future posts as part of the plan for this blog (which i will mention at the end of this section, so bare with me). Time, that's the first feature for this game, and i can understand as a gamer how this may seem like an un-exciting feature, and so why talk about it? well its more for the elements it adds to the Dev side of things. and as this is a site for Developers alike, i think some of you will be pretty excited by the options our In game Clock brings to the development and eventing options. Our time accounts for both real and in game time simultaneously. This opens up our control for events even more than default, we can now use the in game clock and calender (which counts weeks, months, and years) to control exactly when a event will be active. For example say we wanted an Easter egg in the game, and for sake of argument say we wanted everyone in the world to celebrate Easter Having egg hunts ect. we would simply make it so every time Month was equal to 4 a switch was activated, lets say its called "EASTER TIME". when this switch is active, everyone's Easter time event is turned on! its exciting as a developer since it brings so many options to the table. The main use of this clock is to add a sense of urgency, As the player you will eventually be asked to go and protect the watchers, using the game clock, we can give the player a set amount of time to get their asses in gear and get over there, otherwise, the watcher is taken. The player loses that objective and the typical "evil guy" gets stronger. We also plan to use this to make the main story "objectives" scale in difficulty the more time that passes. Dynamic Party System is the next feature, This system presents you the player with a realistic party to manage, and journey with, more information will be posted about this in the next post. So this blog right... The plan for this blog and all future updates is to offer a little something for everyone, My main strength with RPGmaker is eventing. There is nothing i can't make this program do. And since most of the elements of this game are controlled through events i thought it would be interesting to share some of the inner mechanics at work with each update, along with providing a "show" of the update in question. Something for both the Gamers and the Developers. At least then someone can take something away from this blog, be it inspiration or (hopefully) the want to play The four stones. For now i have rambled enough, Say hello, and let me know what you think. Your opinion is important to us, always will be. Thanks for reading OmegaDSX
  24. The Intro to my RPG game Amnesia The World of Amoria once a world thrown into darkness and conflict, corruption, political anarchy. Till one day a hero arose who was considered a aeon of good and righteousness. He swept through the world of Amoria one by one destroying capital powers of corruption and evil ridding the world of all its blight. Gaining fame and renown. He created the realm of Edicdale becoming the king of the realm. All worshipped the new found king and his kingdom as they should since he brought peace to the world of Amoria. The King of Edicdale had a son a hope of continued peace and prosperity. So then for 25 years Amoria knew peace. Till the day the King died beasts and other unworldly beings started to appear from no where attacking villages sacking cities laying waste to the world of Amoria. Some believe it was an assassin who slayed the King some say natural causes other believe it was his own son. One dark black night the undead begain to arise and started to march on Eddicdale. The son of the newly departed King became the new King of Eddicdale and with quickness Assembled his armies. The new young King amassed a force of 60,000 men to his side. To face the larger force of the undead which had 120,000 troops. Finally both forces came face to face after 2 weeks of tactical maneuvering the King chose his battlefield. A narrow cliff with an ocean behind him and the large undead force to his front. for 3 days the battle raged on it seemed victory was close at hand for the King and his men till a surprise attack came inside the Kings camp and it was said everyman was killed from that attack accept the body of the king was missing. No one ever knew what happend to the King neither did his brother who was the prince and high commander of the Kings army. Even till this day the Kings brother searches for his lost brother.................It has been 4 days since the battle. This Image is a sneak peak at one of the dungeons you will run into in Amnesia.......Still need some work but I believe it is looking good .
